Hope its alright.
Chapter 10
They're Not All Bad
I was glad that Wendy and I managed to make it back before Natsu. Now neither of us needed to worry about paying for anything or owing them for anything. Gajeel made it back first with Sting and Rogue close behind. Natsu doubled over panting and cursed them out.
"Natsu-san, this is why you shouldn't have ran, you're still injured." Wendy said running over to aid him. He groaned and sat on the ground as Wendy worked her magic.
"Thanks Wendy," He said patting her head. Wendy's hands reached up to her face as she blushed in embarrassment. As Natsu rose from the spot on the ground the tavern door slammed open, the red haired "knight" stood firm with her sword in hand pointing it down at the blonde Dracian as he held a hand in front of him.
"Who're you?" She glared inching her sword's tip closer to his neck. Sting jumped back waving his hands in front of him.
"D-dude, She's crazy!" Sting exclaimed backing up against Natsu. As Erza's eyes met Natsu's she lowered her sword.
"Natsu?" She glanced at me, "Lucy too?"
"Whats all the commotion about?" Questioned Gray as he walked out from the tavern followed by a few others.
"It seems Natsu and Lucy have returned. As well as Gajeel and Wendy. And… I see we have guest?"
"This is Sting," I said pointing to the blonde Dracian, before I pointed to the black haired one, "And That is Rogue. They're friends of Natsu's." Erza slid her sword back into its sheath and bowed her head.
"I'm sorry for my rudeness. I thought you were an intruder." She apologized. Sting gave a small grin and waved his arms in front of him.
"N-no, it's fine…" At that moment Gajeel brought his hand down and smacked Sting on the back.
"Cowering before a woman?" He teased. Sting simply smirked.
"Well then Lucy. Will you be filling us in on what happened?" Gray asked. "Why's Natsu all beaten up? And how did you meet these two?"
"Did Gajeel do something crazy?" Mira asked, her eyes narrowing as she glanced at the man with piercings.
"Well actually…" I started, "Natsu and the others were all looking for these two," I said pointing at the two newcomers,"That's why they were gone this morning. They were planning on bringing them back. I found them in the forest and well… we went to look for them in this facility. We sort of found them and well, the one who captured them in the first place came and she sort of attacked and sent out this dragons and in the end it was fine because she sort of well…"
"She was eaten by her own stolen magic." Sting finished.
"Woah woah, hold up there." Gray said, "You're saying there were dragons ?" Natsu's eyes narrowed.
"Yeah what about it?"
"Well I never seen a dragon around here before. I seriously thought that they were-"
"Extinct? I did say we were descendants of dragons have I not? Of course there are dragons. I learned my magic not long ago from them."
"Don't worry," I whispered to Gray, "I was surprised as well,"
"Interesting, and what happened to the facility? I would imagine there'd be more people." Erza pondered.
"The dragon's took care of it. We needn't worry about them anymore." Rogue said. "Though…"
"I've been getting a bad vibe for a while, even after we had left that damned place." Sting said, "I'd be careful if I were you."
Erza immediately glared at the blonde thrusting her weapon toward him, its point touching his chest. "What are you saying?" She hissed. Eyeing him carefully.
"N-Nothing! I'm just saying you should be careful!" He shouted pushing the tip of the blade away, "I'm not saying that its me you should be careful around, its whoever's coming."
"Coming?" She repeated, drawing back her sword.
"I hear the wingbeat of a dragon."
"And the smell of ashes." Wendy continued.
"Are you sure that's not Natsu you're smelling?" I questioned. Natsu gave me an annoyed look as he crossed his arms. Wendy shook her head.
"Its probably just Skiadrum and Wesslogia off in the distance Sting-san. I'm sure there's nothing to worry about."
"Maybe. But that doesn't clear up this uneasy feeling. I'm just saying we should all be on our guard."
"I won't disagree with you there," Gray spoke up, "Better safe than sorry. And with all this going on," He said waving his arms, "We're going to need to be on our guard." After a moment of silence as we all thought about the next possible assault that could happen in this town, Mira clapped her hands. Her face lighting up with a smile.
"Well then, enough chit-chat. I'm sure you're all starving?"
Natsu was the one who spoke up,"Hell yeah! Man, my stomachs been growling for a while now," He lead his group of Dracians into the tavern, Mira following behind.
As I turned to follow Erza and Gray into the tavern, I hear small footsteps and heavy breathing. My hand instinctively went to my belt which held my only weapon. I turned slowly, my heart pounding as I readied myself for an attack.
As I turned it was not an enemy I found myself looking upon. But a child. He looked up with a large grin. He glanced around as if waiting to see if he was being followed and reached for my hand.
"Miss! Have you seen a man with strange pink hair around?" He was bouncing up and down, tugging my hand all the while keeping that grin on his face.
"And why, may I ask, are you searching for such a man?" I questioned. Wondering why a child would be looking for him when the entire town knew who he was. And how "dangerous" he was. Why has someone allowed their child to be searching for their so called beast?
"Well My mom seemed to have scared him off the other day," He explained, "You see miss, He saved me from thieves. It was awesome! You should've seen it miss! His hands were on fire yet he wasn't burned! And he took out that group of nasty men without breaking a sweat! I wanted to thank him see, but my mom yelled as if I was the one on fire. And chased him away. I came to thank him. Even though I have nothing to give, my mom always taught me to thank someone you see? She says one must always have manors when speaking to those who are older than I am." I stared at the child. His mother knew who Natsu was, but the child who had seen him in action was not scared one bit. Interesting.
"You you, child, you weren't afraid of him one bit?" The kid shook his head, "Not even a little?" He shook his head again.
"I thought he was cool. Why miss, why ever would I be scared of him?" He questioned.
"Well… You do realize that he isn't like an everyday person you see around the streets right?"
"Well that's obvious miss. This is the first I've seen of a man who could set himself aflame without getting burnt." I smiled at the young boy before me.
"I see. Well then. I know exactly where you can find him." I gripped his hand tighter, "Come." The boys smile grew as he nodded. And I lead him into the tavern.
