Judy P.O.V.

Soft tapping of rain woke me up from my calm slumber. It was quiet and peaceful. But today I have to get up for work.

Crawling out of bed, I walk over to my closet for my uniform. I open the door and look in the mirror on the door and see I was wearing Nick's shirt. It was sagged and the sleeves were practically down to my wrist. And the actual bottom of it was down to my knees.

No wonder I slept good.

I take it off and and look at it. It was all wrinkled now with the buttons being the only thing keeping it clasped. I bring it to my nose and smell it.

It actually still smelled like him for some reason. You'd think my scent would eventually rub off on it. Then again, I only have scent glands on my chin and nose. At least when he gets this back it'll still smell like him. Although I'm curious what it'd be like if it smelled like me. He has a far better sense of smell so would it be better? I doubt it'd last long with how many scent glands he has.

A thought then occurred to me.

The night I had the nightmare at his house. He was rubbing his head and cheek against me hard. Maybe that's were some of his scent glands are. I thought he was just being affectionate but maybe he was rubbing his scent on me. Why?

I try to recall why a mammal would do that and it hit me. It's to signify… their taken. Nick rubbed his scent on me to basically say I was taken to other mammals. It's why the wolf looked at me strange at the hospital. It's why all the mammals staring at us when we were at the elevator. But that's a feral way to state your taken…

Is it true? But it was after a silly nightmare and it's only the second time I've cried under his presence.

Another wave of revelation hit me.

Nick said he doesn't know whether or not his feral side would consider me an "option". But if he marked me and his feral side takes over it signifies I'm already "his". So like in my dream if he ever went "savage" his feral side wouldn't hurt me since I'm marked his. His instinct would tell him I can't be killed since I'm deemed his.

I feel my heart melt at the sudden realization. Such a little thing as him rubbing his cheek on me could mean so much more than I thought possible. It's a way of him protecting me… from himself.

Sadness drapes over me.

Nick did that to reassure me if it ever was to happen and my life was on the line, he couldn't kill me.

I just stood with the shirt in my paw with a new found sadness. My eyes travel to the mirror and look at my own amethyst eyes.

It's why he told me to get in the elevator and looked annoyed. It's also why he was probably angry when we entered the car when we exited the hospital. The wolf smelled his scent on me. But my question is, could have it meant more than just to protect me.

I may never know. I love him… as a friend. But maybe he loves me… more?

But Nick doesn't seem to want anything to do with relationships. At all. He hates others. I'm practically one of the only mammals besides his mother, past some of his walls. Or am I?

He did say Finnick was really only considered a business partner. They weren't really best friends. His past girlfriend? That was a dream and I don't want to ask him about that. But there was that one vixen he said he met at the Caffè.

Speaking of which, maybe we're gonna go there for our daily morning coffee.

I notice I was almost completely naked with my bra and underwear being the only thing on.

It's in the morning Judy. Come on. You're already thinking about something to ruin your day. Today is a new day, and the first step is to get dressed.

I take the shirt and hang it in the closet. I rummage through and get my suit set off the hanger and get my vest off as well. Walking over to the bed, I put the vest on the bed before stepping into the suit. Once I was nice and snug, I look in the mirror to make sure it still fit fine.

A good thing about my uniform is that it conforms to my body making me feel comfortable and not as restricted to my movements.

Taking the vest, I drop it on my head before pulling it down. I push my arms through and move over to the nightstand. I open my nightstand drawer and take out my utility belt and pistol. I then place them on top of the night stand before pulling out my knee pads, elbow pads, forearm and ankle bracers. I bend over put on my ankle bracers then tightening the straps on both. Satisfied, I put on my forearm bracers and tighten both of those straps. The knee pads I wrap around and tighten and before I knew it, I was down to the accessories. I grab my belt and wrap it around my hips and make sure it was tightly in place. I then take the pistol and pull back the slider to see it was indeed loaded. I flip on the safety before swiftly sliding it in its holster. All that's left is my badge.

I walk over to my case I used to stay over the weekend at the burrows, before unzipping the front pocket. Badge in paw, I rubbed at the engraving with my thumb.

With a spring in my step, I approach the mirror before stopping in front of it. I examine myself in the mirror with the badge at my waist.

After a bit, I finally attach it to my vest and make sure it's nice and glinty before putting my paws in fists and resting them on my hips with a big smile.

I'm going back to the job I love.

I then run over to the counter and grab my truck keys, phone, hotel key, before opening the door and locking it behind me with the hotel key. I put the key in my pack on the side and my phone in the other pack next to it. Holding my truck keys as I begin to walk down the hall with a smile.

Not long, I was already outside the hotel walking to the parked truck. I open the drivers side door with the keys and then hop in the truck, shutting door next to me. I put the keys in the ignition and turn it letting the engine hum a little before roaring to life. Feeding it a little gas, I shift into gear and back out of my parking space. Accelerating forward and looking both ways before pulling out of the lot, I head for Nick's house.

Judy's P.O.V.

I began to drive over the bridge and stop on the side of the road. Shifting the truck to a stop, I pull the keys out of the ignition. The roar dies to nothing but silence. Opening the door, I hop out and shut it behind me.

The only audible noises as I walked were rain brushing the trees which were somewhat soothing. But it did tap my head a little which made me consider picking up my pace to a jog as to not get my uniform messed up.

Not long, I ended up running up Nick's steps and standing idle in front of the door. I knock 3 times. I put my hands on my hips and look around as I wait. I didn't seem to hear any movement. Again. I roll my eyes and knock harder this time.

"Nick!" I call out afterwards.

Nothing.

I sigh before checking to see if the door was locked.

Turning the knob it turned all the way. My curiosity peaks about his door being unlocked. I push it foreword and peak through. Nothing seemed out of place just from the peak.

"Nick!" I call nervously now.

Silence.

Is he okay?

Now worried, I enter his house and shut the door behind me quietly. I begin to side step with my arms out in balance. I scan my surroundings as I creep.

Nothing seemed to be broken or destroyed. He even had dishes on his living room table that were probably from last night.

I begin to creep towards his room now with caution that someone could be in here. Walking down the hall, I arrive at his shut door and listen in caution. I slowly bring my paw to the nob before turning it slowly until the door cracked and I peeked inside.

But that's when I see it. Nick sprawled out on his bed with his mouth wide open…. Breathing calmly.

I feel anger arise.

I push the door all the way open without a care at making a racket.

"Nick!"

He didn't budge and kept breathing normally.

I give an unamused look and walk over to the side of his bed.

"Nick," I say flatly poking at his bicep.

He didn't budge.

Walking over to the opposite side of the bed, I climb up and walk on it over to him. I step one leg over him on the opposite side and stand above him bent foreword now pushing his chest hard and rapidly.

His eyes finally lull open and fall on me eventually.

I had my arms crossed standing above him with a glare.

He had a smirk.

"Well good morning Carrots."

He had a morning voice. It was calming to hear for some reason

"I didn't think I'd have an angel wake me in the morning," He said glancing at me up and down.

"You take your medication," I say boredly with my glare still intact.

"Yes but I have to take it again so if you'd please get your flat feet off my bed."

I deepen the glare before complying and lifting my leg over him but still standing on the bed next to him with my arms folded. He sits up and stretches with a contorted face before relaxing.

"When do you get your medication Carrots?"

He reaches over to the nightstand drawer and opens it, taking out his bottle of pills.

"Don't need any."

"Don't need any huh?"

He opens it with a rattle and tosses it in his mouth, swallowing it bare.

I thought your species was all about multiplication."

Truth was nothing was available for our species. Because our sexual indulgences are too strong when it occurs. We all have a moment of heat anytime of the year. But I haven't had such experiences.

"We're gonna be late for work," I say after a bit.

"Yeah? And your gonna be prey if you don't get out and let me get clothes for my shower," He said rubbing his eyes.

"You couldn't catch me if you-"

Before I could continue, he lunged at me and tripped me on the bed and began to crawl at me.

I giggle before shoving my feet in his face.

"Nick! Stop!" I laugh.

His paws grazed past my ankles as he kept trying to grab me but my feet were moving too rapidly for him to get a firm grip. I crawl away at the edge of the bed before spinning my body around sideways and propelling my body off, landing on my feet on the floor, facing him.

The blankets were wrapped all around him and in a maelstrom with his face buried in the bed. He had his arms stretched out as if he failed to grab me and let them flop. He lifts his face up.

"Alright fluff, I hate to be the responsible one, but we need to get going or we'll be late for work," He says with a smirk.

I just roll my eyes with my smile and begin to walk away towards the door. Opening the door, I shut it behind me to catch a glimpse of Nick sitting up.

Walking down the hallway, I head for the kitchen table to just sit and wait. I jump on the chair and kick my legs back and forth like a pendulum as I wait.

I hear the door open down the hall and I glance down it. Nick was shirtless and had his uniform folded up in his arms smirking as he walked towards me before opening another door in the hall and shutting it.

I'm glad he didn't walk out nude or to quote him, "all natural".

I hear the shower turn on in that room which was like a constant white noise throughout the house that traveled through the walls.

There's no way I can wait here for this long. I hope he takes fast showers.

After a bit, not even 5 minutes the shower shuts off. I feel somewhat happy now that he's somewhat serious I assume. I waited now for him to get in his uniform and exit the bathroom.

The door finally opens and Nick walks out in uniform with a toothbrush in his mouth as he vigorously brushed. His fur from his neck to his cheeks was all mangled.

"How can you get up so early and take a shower?" he asks muffled by the toothbrush.

Doesn't he walk to work too?

"Don't you walk to work?" I ask raising a brow.

"Yeah pretty much at this time. But your always at work before me and from what I hear, your one of the first mammals there."

He was right. I arrived sometimes before Bogo did. Like right now I'd be the one late and he would be the one early.

"I take showers after work," I state.

He seems to digest this before speaking again.

"Well I take showers to wake me up since I'm nocturnal," He says now switching sides of his mouth.

Makes sense. I guess I can't be too mad at him for taking a shower in the morning. At least he gets to work. Even if he is almost late.

"Well hurry up," I say smiling and shooing him towards the bathroom.

He just rolls his eyes and walks back to the bathroom. His tail was all mangled as well and not as fluffy as usual with the fur flowing towards the end.

The faucet began to run and I hear him spit into it a couple times before turning it off. I expected him to finally walk back out, but he didn't.

I slide off the chair and walk to open door in the hallway. I look inside and see him looking in the mirror, using a comb, pulling his fur back through his cheeks.

"Really?" I whine.

"Don't worry, it doesn't take as long as my tail," He says moving it through his other cheek.

"Do you have another comb?" I ask.

"What are you implying?" he asks, his eyes looking to me half lidded.

"I need a comb to do your tail so we can speed this up so we won't be late!" I exclaim.

He seems to actually ponder this by looking in the mirror.

"Here," He says extending a brush out towards me with an annoyed look.

I take it before I look to his tail at where to start. I begin to start at the back and run it through to the end. It had a bit of friction and resistance to it as I brushed, but after a couple of strokes, it began to almost glide through it. I move on to another side of his tail and begin the process over again.

I remember what Gideon said about foxes tails. He's letting me brush it.

Now a feeling of tension filled me at the remembrance of that. But also, a feeling of happiness that he's letting me do this.

"Ow," He says after I brush through a mangled spot fast.

"Sorry," I say sheepishly.

"Alright give it here," He says extending his paw out.

I stop and give him the brush.

He began to go fast and stopped at a mangle spot before gliding through it slowly. He repeated this until his tail was back to its usual state. He tosses the brush on the counter before walking past me out the door.

"Can we go now?" I ask crossing my arms, looking to him as he exited.

"I don't know, my legs are awfully sore," He says in a sassy manner now turning down the hall.

Rolling my eyes, I follow after him towards the front door before he opens it and gestures me to exit. I enter outside where the rain was sprinkling and turned towards him. He was hunched over fumbling with the lock.

"Wait, I forgot something. I'll meet you at the truck," He said entering inside and shutting the door.

I sigh before stumble running down the steps and beginning to walk on the gravel path. The rain tapped me lightly and pecked at my ears as I walked. They also acted as sort of an umbrella towards the rain. But it kinda felt uncomfortable since my ears are so sensitive. Mostly on the inside that is.

At the truck, I open the door before hopping in and shutting it behind me. I put the keys in the ignition and rev it to life. I feed it a bit of gas before letting it buffer.

I wonder what Nick forgot.

Not long and I see a familiar fox with his paws in his pockets with a smirk and his…. Shades.

He gets on the passenger side opening the door, climbs in and shuts it after.

"Really?" I say bored.

"Hey it's just like you and your Carrot pen. You don't need it but you carry it around," He said leaning back.

I begin to drive.

"Yeah but at least my pen actually has a good use besides writing,"

"Well I need to make sure I'm good with the ladies."

Nick is flirty. But I doubt that's the only reason he uses them. He uses it to hide emotion better. The center of understanding someone's feeling is in the eyes. You can almost use telepathy looking through the portal of the eye. And he covers them. Now I feel like I should cherish more when he looks at me in the eye. Looking back it seemed like such an insignificant detail for him to look at me normally. Especially when he comforted me when I had that nightmare. It's the softest I've ever seen him go.

"Carrots we should stop for coffee," He says pulling me from my cognition.

"Where at?" I ask.

"There's a place just up here right when you enter the city," He says pointing down the road.

We were right about to enter the city so I look around for the place he just spoke of.

"Right there," He flatly states pointing to a building.

I immediately pull into a parking spot right at the curb.

"Geez fluff, your not gonna lose the spot,"

"You'll get your coffee faster," I bluntly state changing gear to a stop, and taking the keys out of the ignition.

"Fair point. Also glad to know your paying," He said slyly.

I roll my eyes and exit the vehicle.

"I never said that," I say walking on the sidewalk.

"But I thought you care about me," He said behind me.

He's not gonna play this card again.

"I do care about you. Enough to have you learn to pay for your own coffee," I say with an almost seductive look at him.

"Yeah? Maybe enough to pay for this coffee so I can save up for a new phone?"

"You don't need your phone, and honestly it will be less of a distraction without one,"

He didn't respond and we entered in the Caffè.

There was a tiger at the desk when we entered.

"Hey Nick," The tiger spoke nonchalantly.

She looked to me and her eyes widened a bit.

"Hey waitress!" he said with rhapsody.

"Me and my partner are here for a quick coffee," He says with his arm leaned on the counter.

"Sure, follow me," She says almost looking nervous.

She takes us through the Caffè a bit before stopping by a booth by the window. Which I don't know why she did when there was clearly a 2 seater tables everywhere.

"Here you go," she says tossing the menus on the table before gesturing us in.

I slide in the booth and find the table was just below my neck and at my upper chest.

She walks away and I look to Nick and see he looked puzzled as he read through his menu. Well I assumed puzzled since he had his brows furrowed and frown but he was wearing his shades.

I grab the menu and open it up and scan for the beverage section. I look for just some normal orange juice or something. My ears turn like solar panels towards what sounds like someone walking over.

What the…

I peak over and see an arctic vixen in really seductive clothes with her shirt revealing her stomach and jeans ripped to her upper thighs. She had bronze eyes and a visage that could be described as hungry for sex.

"Hey its Crystal!" he announces.

She giggled.

"Hi Nick."

This has danger written all over it.

"Oops. I dropped something," She says with her finger to her lips.

She turned and squatted over with her butt sticking up in the air with a swish in her tail. She had a big butt.

Looking to Nick I see he had a blank expression looking directly at it.

Not long in, she turns around towards us. She then gestures to the spot next to him in the booth.

Nick had his normal smirk now.

"May I sit?"

Please say no.

"Sure," He says scooting over.

Oh sweet cheese and crackers.

She plops down next to him.

Nick was still reading his menu when I noticed she then leaned her head on his shoulder.

Nick didn't do anything and let her lean on him.

She then looks at me with her half lidded eyes.

I feel a glare coming on and I cover it with the menu before Nick could notice I was glaring at her. Pretending to look like I'm searching the menu, I listen in.

"So Nick, you up for some fun?" She asks in a mocking voice.

"What kind of fun?"

Nick. I swear.

"Oh you know, show me why you have your last name," She says with lust dripping from her voice.

My foot began to twitch.

"Well it doesn't lie," He says back.

"Mmmmm.. why don't you show me," She practically whispered and cood.

My foot now began to bounce up and down and tap the air and grow in speed.

"Oh yeah?" he asks.

I feel myself wanting to peek.

Slowly leaning out, I see she had her paws on his thighs near his crotch and she was looking to him with sulrty and lust leaning foreword. Her chest was pressed to his bicep as she rubbed around his thigh. Nick had his sleepy smirk looking back at her with his shades still on.

She advanced forward and began to nuzzle his neck. Nick in response moved his head away and had a stern expression before going back to his smirk when she stopped.

She puckered her lips. She was inches away from her target.

Two fingers then pressed to her lips. Her eyes opened and widened when they saw what they were met with.

"Ah ah ah ah. Remember what I said?" he asks with his signature smirk intact.

She looks away in shame with her lips still touched to his finger.

Nick removes his fingers.

"I understand it's fox season sweetheart, but I'm on my medication and I don't think I should reiterate what I told you," He says now placing the menu down.

What did he tell her?

She looked dampened as she looked to the table.

"Can I get your orders?"

The tiger waitress was holding a notepad and pen with a dampened mood as well.

I give a nervous smile.

"Uh I'll have orange juice please," I say closing the menu firmly still looking at her.

"Nick?" She asks as she's writing.

"Just a coffee with some cream," He said tossing the menu in the middle of the table and leaning back with his paws behind his head.

I place my menu in the middle of the table as well.

"Anything for you Crystal?"

"No," She said with a sigh.

"Alright your orders will be out shortly," She says taking the menus away.

A silence drifted over and I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable.

I pull out my phone and read the time.

7:21

We have to be at work at 8:00 sharp.

I put my phone back in my holster pack.

Looking back at Crystal, I think of what just unfolded.

She practically was baiting sex when she talked to Nick. For some reason, it made me really mad. I wasn't jealous at all. Maybe it's because of what he told me about his past girlfriend cheating on him which I don't know if it's real. But he's not cheating… am I jealous? I don't think I am. I say time and time again I love Nick as a friend. But every now and then I feel like I wanna give more and show I care like he does with me those few moments.

"Alright guys, here ya go." The tiger waitress said placing the my drink in front of me and a coffee in front of Nick.

"Alright if you need anything just ask. Enjoy guys," The waitress said now walking away.

"Thank you," I say grabbing my juice.

Nick grabbed his steaming coffee and took a swig and abruptly, Crystal stood up and walked away. Nick didn't even look when she left but instead just looked out the window next to us with his smirk. I looked to Crystal as she walked away and couldn't help but feel bad. Nick didn't even say anything when she left or comforted her.

I look away and decide to just drink from my juice. Smacking my lips a bit at the exotic taste. I peek to Nick to try and think of something to say.

Drinking from my orange juice, I decide to down it fast so we can get to work faster. I put the cup in the middle of the table and begin to look for some money in the side of my holster.

"In a hurry much?" Nick says placing something firmly on the table.

I peek up and see he placed a five on the table. I roll my eyes and sigh and relax my hip and sit normally.

"Alright will that be it for you two officers today?"The tiger waitress spoke next to the table.

"I'm good," I say with a smile.

"Nick?"

"I'm as good as I'll ever be," He says.

"Alright, you two have a nice day," She says grabbing the cash and putting it in a black envelope.

She walked away.

"You ready?" I ask.

He began to stir from his lean and scooted out of the seat.

"Yep," He sighed as he moved.

I slide out of the booth as well and start making my way towards the exit. I push the door open and Nick held it open behind me before exiting with me.

Walking on the drivers side of the truck, I open the door and jump in the vehicle and shut the door before sitting in the seat. Nick shut the door as I began to buckle in. Putting the keys in the ignition, he finished buckling in and the truck revved to life. I shifted into gear and back out of the spot before shifting again and pulling away. Down the road we hit a stop light which held a lot of traffic.

My mind traveled back to the Caffè.

"So is that the vixen you were talking about?" I ask.

"Yep."

Well I guess first impressions aren't all that great this time around considering its fox season.

Silence.

"Look I assumed that was going to happen when we went to this Caffè. When the waitress showed us the booth I knew she was going to come over. I mean there was only the two of us and we didn't need a booth."

Now that I look back he was right. It was subtle, but actually held significance.

"I'm just surprised you let her touch you.. there," I say nervously.

I expected a joke.

"I was conforming a reply."

"And it wasn't as bad as I thought it could get," He finished.

"She was practically carnal over you!" I say in disbelief.

"Listen. Judy."

He said my real name so I knew the validity of the situation was serious.

"She didn't do anything to me and I had it under control and was fully aware of what she was trying to do. Just calm down," He said with a serious tone.

I still felt a flame lit on the situation on how Crystal acted.

I could argue more but I decided to let it die.

The drive now continued when the light turned green. The precinct was a bit away, about a 15 minute drive.

Talking wasn't much on our way there as we were now pulling in the parking lot.

I shut the engine off and unbuckled before opening the door and hoping out. Slamming it shut, I begin to walk towards the precinct.

At the glass doors, I push it foreword to be greeted with the lobby of my dream job.

"O M goodness! Judy!"

I look up and see the familiar receptionist cheetah, Clawhauser.

"Hey Clawhauser!" I pipe.

He put down a box of donuts and put his paws against his cheeks.

"You guys are finally back!" he chirps.

"Yes we are," I say confidently with a smile putting my paws in fists on my hips.

"Oh! Nick! I got you something!" he says now crouching below the desk.

I look to Nick and see he had a raised brow.

"Like what?" he asks nervously.

He then popped back up and put something on the table.

It was a fox plush that had green eyes like him and a smirk on its face. It had a mini police uniform too and looked absolutely adorable.

I can't wait to see his face.

"Aw that's so sweet," I say clasping my paws together and looking up at him.

He had a nervous smile that was almost so fake to see through.

"Uh, thanks Clawhauser do you think you could give it to me by the end of the day," He said shrugging.

"Well your taking a case and you won't be back here anytime soon," He says.

Nick sighs in defeat with an annoyed look and furrowed brows. He swiped the plush off the counter, and held it in one paw as he walked normally to the cubical area of the precinct.

I held in my snicker with a paw.

"You think he likes it?" Clawhauser asks.

"Don't worry, I'll make him like it," I say walking away with a reassuring smile.

I begin to walk normally towards the cubical section of the precinct.

Making my way to my desk, I see Nick was already in his seat. I notice the plush was nowhere to be seen. But out of the corner of my eye I spot an orange ear in the trash can.

"Nick," I say.

"Hm?"

"Clawhauser gave you that plush and you just threw it away."

"Carrots, plushies are for kids and I can assure you I'm not a kid,"

He didn't have his shades.

"I beg to differ," I mumble.

"Oh? And even if I am what am I gonna use it for? To cuddle," He says leaning back holding his head.

I get an idea.

"Yeah actually." I say with a sultry look and placing my paws on my hips looking to him with confidence.

"I don't need to cuddle with a plush," He states.

"Why not? You'd cuddle with me," I state.

I felt accomplished at getting him right into my trap.

He looks stunned a bit.

I walk over to the trash can, grab the plush and shove it in his chest at which he holds it there.

"Dumb fox," I say with half lidded eyes.

I let go of the plush and turn around to walk back to my cubicle.

"Sly bunny," He praises.

Jumping up in my chair, I spin around to face him with my arms crossed.

He placed the fox on his desk by his monitor before turning towards me with his paws in his pockets.

"Alright, where did you leave off?" I ask.

He turns around and opens a drawer, pulls out a folder, opens the folder then stands up and walks over looking through it. He stood next to me before placing it on the table.

I look through and see images of the collapse and inside the com center.

"So we have no witnesses, I talked to the resources, and we have no suspects." Nick says next to me as I read the paper document stating the facts.

"But like I said, we have evidence." He says taking a plastic bag from behind the pictures.

Inside was a clump of white hair from a mammal.

"You found this?" I ask.

"Yep," He states.

"Nice Nick!" I exclaim in excitement.

"We might have this solved already!" I say taking the bag in my paws.

"We just have to take it to the lab, give it a DNA test and we'll slim down the culprits to a species," I say.

I'm glad Nick did something when I was gone.

"Slick Nick at it again." I say slyly turning my chair towards him with my arms crossed.

He gives me a shrug with his smirk.

"Alright." I say grabbing the bag.

"Let's get this in now so we can get the results in as soon as possible."

I slide off my chair and begin to walk out of the cubical.

The research lab was just in a hall where a hospital mammal usually a simple nurse would take the forensic evidence and analyze it. But the answer would usually come back in a few days.

Entering a hall I go up to the receptionist desk that had a Grizzly bear at it.

"Hey Dean!" I exclaim.

"Hey." He states in his bass voice.

"Do you think you could get this to the lab?" I ask holding the bag up.

"Sure," He says taking it.

"Thanks big guy."

I turn back around and see Nick with his paws in his pockets looking nonchalant.

"Alright, what now?" I say to him.

"We take a break?" he asks.

"Nick," I state.

"We can check the security cameras around the conditioner," He said with a bored expression.

"Let's get to it," I say walking away again.

Not long and we were back in our cubical and I sauntered over to my desk. Jumping up in my chair, I type my password and wait for it to log in.

"You up for sitting here that long?" Nick asks behind me.

"Anything that'll solve this case."

I lean back and cross my arms.

The screen was still trying to go through which made me feel a little annoyed at its slowness.

I hear what sounds like a chair rolling in my direction. I turn and see Nick in his chair sliding towards me sideways with his smirk.

I roll my eyes with a smile when he stopped next to me.

The computer finally loaded and I opened up the Zootopia database. I click the security camera section and it loaded all feeds throughout Zootopia. I go to the conditioner area and zoom in immensely to the section of the city. Clicking the camera in the conditioner room, I go up to the time management tab and type in its date.

"Okay now we just have to watch a full days worth of footage." I say with a sigh of boredom.

"You may not need to do that." He states

"Why?"

"I watched most of it, if I remember correctly I checked out of work when I was at 6:00-ish."

I feel a wave of relief wash over and feel grateful that I won't be as bored doing this. Buy also confused why he didn't just finish it.

"You didn't finish?" I ask changing the time to 6.

"Yeah I was falling asleep and I was really bored."

I smile and roll my eyes.

"Well at least it's not a whole days worth." I state in agreement.

Looking back at the monitor I scan around the screen waiting for the suspect to enter frame.

After a bit, I hear clicking next to me. I look over and see Nick with a pen pushing the button over and over with a paw in his cheek and elbow on the counter looking bored. I ignore him and look back to the screen.

Not to long later the clicking started to get really annoying. Without looking, I place my paw on his to get it to stop moving. I lift my paw up and the noise stopped.

Nothing was happening on the screen. It was still the static room as it was before.

Next thing I know, I hear the chair roll away a bit. He's probably adjusting his position. The sound of paper being folded can be heard and my curiosity takes ahold and makes my eyes avert away and towards Nick to see what he was doing.

He was folding paper about and before I knew it, he held up a paper airplane with a smile.

He really is a kid at heart.

Next, he threw it and it flew and did a few twirls before turning 90 degrees into the wall. He took another paper from a drawer and began to fold that one.

"Those better not be important documents." I state.

"Yeah, important documents in the filing drawer." He claims.

He was right. Usually that drawer in particular had just copies upon copies of law documents that needed to be filled out for witnesses.

He made another but this time chucked it hard. It did a zigzag and crashed into the floor.

I should be watching the footage right now.

Nothing was happening.

I take peak at the next plan he was making when I notice he stopped when he grabbed a paper. His brows furrowed as he looked to the paper.

"What is it?" I ask concerned now turning towards him.

He didn't respond right away.

"Nothing," He blandly states, taking the paper and folding it up.

I turn back to the monitor slowly.

What was he looking at? It was just a plain old document with nothing special about it. Did he realize something while holding it?

But before I could continue my cognition, the screen goes black.

"What?" I state in confusion.

"What is it?" Nick asks next to me.

"The camera just turned off," I say looking to the time and reading 8:00.

I switch the camera angle to the one outside the hall and see it was off too.

"Back up the time and stay on the hall camera. If they did it manually, we'll see them come down the hall before they can reach the camera."

I set the time to 7:59.

I watch intently.

The camera blacks out.

"It's not manually," I confirm.

Nick had his brows furrowed as he thought.

Go to an outside camera and see if we can spot them approaching the conditioner."

I go to one pointing at the entrance and set it back again 7:59.

I watch intently.

Blacks out.

I sigh in frustration.

"They turned all the cameras off at any conceivable angle to be concluded suspicious," I state.

"They had white fur. They can't EMP the whole town system so go to a spot a little away and look for a white furred mammal,"

I quickly oblige.

The camera I click was on a busy street, close to the one we were on before the incident.

I watch around at the crowd of mammals.

There was a wolf walking down the road, a ferret, a leopard… a polar bear.

"Bingo," I say pointing to the screen.

He was also walking towards the conditioner which was a couple blocks away.

"Alright let's figure out who this is…" I say zooming in on the face for a scan.

It scanned over and it started calculating a name. A tab appeared and a polar bear mug shot accompanied it.

"Syre Frost," I state.

"Looks like a mobster," he says.

I read over the file.

Age:22

Sex: Male

State: missing

"Missing," I whisper.

"Looks like we might be visiting a certain crime boss tomorrow," Nick said leaning back.

"Mr. Big?" I ask.

"Yep. I guarantee if it's not one of his mammals he'll still have an idea of what syndicate they belong to."

That seemed like a good plan.

"It's 9:30. We've only been here an hour and we have so much evidence." I say with relief.

"Do you think we could go today?" I ask.

"I don't think we should because tomorrow we'll have a full day and clearer heads."

Seems okay I guess. But I don't know what would be so distressing at the moment. Not only that, Bogo usually wanted results and fast because of the town hall up his tail.

"But Chief would want us to complete this as fast as possible." I state.

"Yes but there's a difference between doing it sloppily and doing cleanly." He adds.

"So what now?" I ask.

"We can maybe just do some paperwork for now or think of an escape route out of Mr. Big's place if something goes wrong when we go there." He said leaning back with his paws in his pockets.

"Mr. Big would betray us?" I say with a perplexed visage.

"I don't know exactly but he could be on a task of ascension."

"Ascension? I mean either way we saved his grand daughter." I say shrugging.

"Well he's to terms with you. But most likely still has anger towards me."

"He let you go with me."

He looks to ponder this before speaking.

"If it is him it would make even more sense since he was least affected by the collapse."

It was indeed adding up a bit to be him. But would he actually do it. Nick knows him more than I do.

Guess all that's left is some paperwork…

Nick's P.O.V.

Today was quite a day. The morning, work, vixens in heat..

This morning Judy brushed my tail and I don't know if she knows that foxes do not let any mammal touch their tail. I couldn't even stand it for long.

Yeah I knew Judy was glaring at Crystal in the Caffè. I also knew she was gonna come over to our table when we were shown the booth. And keeping myself calm with her butt presented to me. Keeping calm on both levels that is.

But I managed it thanks to my pill. But I was mad that Crystal seemed so nice but the flames of heat made her really horny around me. And me being Nick Wilde didn't help. She had her paws right next to my crotch which was the closest I've ever let any mammal get in years. Her showing her butt though made me really conflicted with anger but I tried to keep it blank. It was a nice one though. Probably considered one of the nicest to any other fox . But not as nice as Judy's. To me she had a nice butt. I didn't look very often but when she would do certain things considering her height, it was hard not to.

But the most interesting thing today is when I found the paper at the precinct.

I reach over on my nightstand and grab the folded up paper. I open it and read it once more.

What's real?

Someone's trying too hard to prank me. Paranoia doesn't work on me. But there was still a little voice in the back of my head saying; what if it's real?

Sighing, I slap it back on the nightstand. I rub my eyes.

Looking over I get ready to turn off the lamp. That's when I see the plush next to my paw.

The only reason I kept this was because of Judy. I'm not gonna cuddle it though. Judy is the only exception. Maybe I should give it to her. I know she has a lot of plushies.

Pulling the switch down, the room went dark and I laid on my side in the comfort of my bed letting sleep take me in its abyss.
