The next three days flew by. Lila spent this time re-discovering my body and getting closer to Reilly. Everything was going absolutely perfect and it actually felt like we were a real family again. My parents stopped by and Lila immediately remembered everything about them. They talked about how she was doing and if I was taking good care of her. I also invited some of our friends over since we hadn't seen them in a while and Lila loved each and every one of them. I also noticed the way she looked at me. It was the way she had always looked at me, eyes full of love and adoration. It made my heart swell with happiness and I took every opportunity to kiss her. Lila also requested if Reilly could sleep in our bed and each time I woke up I saw her holding Reilly in her arms.

I woke up early on the day of the banquet. I don't know why I couldn't sleep but something just felt off about today. I left Reilly and Lila in the warm bed and took a shower, hoping to erase some of my unease. I figured it was just because I was nervous about my speech. I couldn't settle down enough to actually write one so I was hoping something clever would come out of my mouth when the time came to speak. I tried to rub the knots out of my neck with no luck. My shoulders fell and I let the stream of water pound against my body.

I didn't notice the shower curtain opening until I felt Lila's arms wrap around me. Turning around in her embrace I kissed the top of her head. She smiled up at me and stood on her tip toes so that she could reach my lips. Her kiss gave me reassurance that today would go alright. I just wanted it to be over so that I could feel her warm body against mine again.

We simply stayed like that-not moving, not talking- just holding each other. I thought about the fact that she was the only person that could truly comfort me. Even if it was the stupidest problem she was always there for me. I bent down so that I could kiss her again and she responded by moaning into my mouth. We spent the next twenty minutes having shower sex- which was amazing- before getting out and making breakfast for Reilly.

The next several hours went by in a daze and Lila repeatedly asked me if I was alright. To be honest, I didn't even know what was wrong. I wasn't that nervous about my speech because I always ended up talking for longer than they wanted me to, but I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that today just felt weird.

I looked up at the clock and realized I should start getting ready. I had lain out my suit last night so it didn't take long to get dressed. The only problem was my hair. I was slightly longer and that meant it was extra curly. Using hair gel, I managed to tame it some-what and I was out the door after saying goodbye to Lila and Reilly.

It only took ten minutes to arrive at the banquet but as soon as I got there Luke rushed me inside. "What took you so long?" He asked in a hushed whisper. He led me into the dining hall and I saw that the room was completely packed and I good barely hear my own voice when I reminded him that I was right on time.

Luke introduced me to the people that put this event together and I politely smiled and shook the man's hand and kissed the lady on the cheek. Their names were Tyler and Marissa and they had been married for 5 years. They ran a performing arts school where young actors could express themselves. Both of them were performers but they both wanted to help aspiring actors. I decided that I liked these two so I stuck with them for the majority of the banquet. A couple of girls had come up to me and asked for my autograph and a picture which I gladly gave to them.

Two hours passed by with not much happening. I stopped Luke to ask him what was going on and he said that the kitchen staff was having some issues getting the food prepared for us. I hadn't eaten lunch so I was completely famished. I saw that the only thing they had out were a couple of crackers and slices of cheese. I slowly chewed on these while I waited for people to get the speeches going.

After another hour passed someone finally got up on stage and started talking and awards were given out to a few students who went above and beyond the expectations of everyone. Some of the recipients were quite cocky while the others were humble. I hoped the humble ones didn't feel the need to change who they were down the road. Several teachers and students got up and talked about everything that was accomplished this year and which projects they liked the most.

I asked Luke when the food would be coming out but he had no idea. The only things going around were different drinks that the waiters served. There was a break that was scheduled so that parents and teachers could congratulate their kids and students. My phone started to vibrate in my pocket and I excused myself from the table so that I could find a quieter place. I didn't realize that more than one banquet would be going on and I soon found myself in a janitor's closet. I answered my phone and was greeted with Lila's beautiful voice.

"I'm so sorry it's taking this long, my love. I wish I could come home right now so that I could see your face again." I smiled to myself and thought about everything I would do to her when I finally saw her again.

I heard her giggle and it made me laugh too. "Tom, do you remember when I was pregnant with Reilly and you told me every morning that I was the most beautiful woman in the world?" She sighed.

"Why of course I do. I wasn't lying when I said it to you. I truly believe you are the most beautiful woman in the world. It should actually be a well-known fact." I laughed and thought back to when she carried our beautiful baby boy inside of her stomach. I couldn't wait for us to have our next child, but I knew that was far down the line.

"Do you also remember when you spilled coffee on my boss and you tried to clean it up and she screamed because she thought you were feeling her up?" She couldn't finish the sentence without laughing and I soon joined in.

"Yeah, that was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. It was also creepy that every time I saw her she would always wink at me." I shook my head and pinched the bridge of my nose. My face scrunched up when I started to smell something bad and I heard people outside the door. I walked further into the closet so that I could hear her better.

"I'm glad you never fell for her charms." Lila giggled. "Do you also remember when we would always people watch and always laugh whenever they fell down or the wind would take someone's hat?"

"Oh yes. I also remember the time when those two little boys accidently sprayed water onto that old woman." I thought to myself for a second. "Wait…how are you remembering all of this?"

There was short pause I could practically feel her excitement envelop my body. "Because I remember everything!"

"What?! When did this happen?! Oh my god, Lila you're back. You're really back! I'm leaving right now, I have to see you. This is amazing!"

"I know! It's all been coming back to me the last couple days but I didn't want to jinx it so I didn't say anything. I'm so happy, I love you so much, Tom. Thank you for staying with me, and I'm so sorry for all I've put you through. I love you more than anything."

"I love you too. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I'll be home soon." I ended the call and started jumping up and down. I probably looked like a loon but I didn't care at all. My Lila was back, she was truly back. I went to open the door when the fire consumed me.

Lila's P.O.V

I couldn't stop the tears from falling when I watched the news. Luke had called me and told me everything that happened only ten minutes after I had gotten off of the phone with Tom. The kitchen staff had reported there was a gas leak and that everyone needed to evacuate. He told me that he couldn't find Tom anywhere so he figured he was already outside. A couple minutes after everyone had evacuated the building had exploded and the fire stretched everyone. After asking everyone if they had seen Tom, he finally realized that he was still in the building when the explosion happened.

Firefighters were still trying to deal with the fire even hours after it had happened. I don't know why I stayed up that long; it was probably because a small part of me was waiting for Tom to come through the door. His parents and our friends came over and we all hugged each other and cried together. It made me feel even worse to think that all of these people loved him and now he was gone.

I kept checking on Reilly and it made me cry more because he didn't realize what was going on. He was still in his room playing with his toys and smiling. I didn't want to picture the day when I would have to tell him what happened to his dad. Every part of me was so hollow and empty and I was numb when I realized that I would have to live the rest of my life without him.

I picked up Reilly and brought him into our bed and I sat there holding him until I had cried myself to sleep. I could still smell Tom on his pillow and I just wanted the world to completely swallow me whole.

"Lila, can you hear me? Are you alright, sweetheart?" A soothing voice called out to me. I recognized that voice. It was…Tom. My eyes flew open and I sat up quickly only to be pushed down by two people dressed as nurses. Looking around the room I realized where I was. I was in the hospital. "My love, are you alright?"

I turned my head and stared into Tom's beautiful eyes. "But, you're dead. You're not supposed to be here." I stared wildly around the room, trying to catch my bearings.

"Darling, what are you talking about? I never died or have ever been close to dying." Tom eyebrows scrunched together and his eyes were full of worry.

A stabbing pain hit my head and I fell back against the pillows, blinded by the pain. "What's happening? Why does my head hurt so much?" Tears started to well up in my eyes and Tom came over and started kissing me in multiple places.

"You had me so scared. They wouldn't let me see you for a long time." Tom stopped kissing me so he could smile at me with relief.

"What are you talking about? What happened?" I reached out to I could touch his face while the pain slowly faded away. Tom smiled again and kissed me on the lips.

"You were in a car accident. It was really bad and you've been in a coma for the last two months. You started mumbling a couple minutes ago and they said that you might wake up so I started to talk to you." Tom kissed me again and caressed my face in his hands. "I've missed you so much."

"No. I…I lost my memory. I didn't remember you. And there was a gas explosion and you died." I scrambled to get up but Tom held me down gently.

"Relax sweetheart. That was just a dream. I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere." He hugged me and we stayed like that for a few minutes before I realized I was crying. Tom started to panic but I just held him tighter to me.

"Where's Reilly?" I choked out and started to sob again.

"He's asleep over there on the couch." Tom pointed over to the small couch that was placed against the wall in the corner of the room. Reilly was bundled up in blankets and had his head rested on a small pillow. "I'm so happy that you're awake. I love you so much and I've missed you terribly. These last two months have been hell for me and they said that you might not wake up."

I looked up to see tears streaming down Tom's face and I pulled him closer to me and kiss him urgently. "So this is real?" I squeaked.

Tom softly laughed, tears still falling from his eyes. "Yes this is absolutely real. I love you so much."

I smiled and kissed him again. "I love you too."
