Chapter 10 – Visit from Germany
Lucy woke up when the sun shone right in her face. It was so warm, so comfortable. There were some things running through her mind when she woke up. How should she face him now?
They did it... After all her hesitation they finally had sex and it surprisingly felt good... Maybe she would do it again. If he wanted to that is.
The blonde turned around, only to find the other half of the bed being empty. With a frown she at up, the blanket tightly wrapped around herself.
It was probably noon by now. By the way her stomach suddenly growled she remembered her actual aim for the morning.
The romantic breakfast... Okay, they simply skipped the breakfast and went on with other romantic stuff but... Where the hell was he anyway?
Her nostrils were filled with the smell of fried eggs and she immediately got more hungry.
When she looked to the door, Natsu just came in, a tray in his hands. On it were two plates with fried eggs, some buns were filled in a little woven basket and two cups with something that seemed like coffee.
Natsu smiled warmly at her and sat the tablet down on the bed, carefully crawling on it to lean over and breath a kiss on her cheek.
''Morning.''
Lucy chuckled softly and looked away, tightening the blanket around herself.
''You mean noon.''
''Yeah.'' He also chuckled and now sat down completely. Lucy recognized that his hair was slightl sticking of his forehead and neck, still a bit wet. He probably took a shower a few minutes before he prepared all of this. When Lucy thought about it and awkwardly rubbed her legs together she suddenly felt the urge to take a shower as well.
Above that she didn't really wanted to eat with him being covered only by the blanket.
His torso was still naked, giving Lucy the best of view on his trained body but he was wearing sweat pants at least.
What would she give for sweat pants right now. Natsu seemed to notice her discomfort and smiled warmly at her.
''Wanna take a shower first?''
Lucy only nodded, her face red again only by the way he talked to her. He had been asking her some things in the same way when they slept together, with this tender and caring voice, she found to love it even more the more he talked to her with it.
Carefully, she untangled herself from the sheets only to realize that he was sitting there, staring slightly – not that he would care that she was naked - his face turning red.
Lucy fast pulled the sheets up and wrapped them around herself, practically running out of the room and into the bathroom.
She swore she saw Natsu smirking at her stupidity. Why wouldn't he? She was still embarrassed when he saw her naked after everything they did. She would also laugh at herself.
And that's what she did when she locked the door behind her and slid down to the ground, giggling non stop.
–-o.O.o-
She felt refreshed, happy, at ease. With him right there next to her, she was finally able to relax. She had taken the next step and she knew that although he told her he would wait for her that he was more than happy that she finally gave in. And she was as well.
This wasn't as bad as she thought.
They had long finished their breakfast, or rather their lunch and were now cuddled up against each other lying on the bed.
Natsu had forced her down slightly again, making her smile in the kiss they were already in again.
He wouldn't hold back anymore, knowing now better than anyone that she was more than alright with that.
His hand traveled over her exposed leg – since she simply pulled over one of his shirts after she took her shower – until it reached her hip. Lucy shivered in delight under his touch and the way he looked at her. Demanding but still careful. Like he was asking if it was okay for him to go on. And like hell it was. For some unknown reason to her, her whole body wanted him to continue.
Natsu rolled them over so he was now completely lying on top of her, kissing her more fierce, more demanding, more wanting. And Lucy enjoyed it. Sometimes she wondered if she would ever be able to kiss him like he was kissing her. With that much of affection and passion. He knew that she loved him just as much as he loved her but for some reason she always saw herself as one of the worst kissers in the world. That was also one of the reason why she often let him kiss her first... It was easier somehow for her when he made the first step.
So like right now, when he slowly pulled down her panties, his hand resting at the inside of her thigh, making her sigh in excitement and contentment at the same time.
His touch felt so familiar already. Like it always been there.
He fast this time, no teasing or anything. But she kind of liked that. Her body was already reacting again when he pushed against her more and she started to breath faster.
Before he pushed inside though he froze above her. Lucy – who had her eyes closed due to the fact that she thought they would get to some activities here – looked at him confused and followed the direction he was looking at.
The clock.
And then he cursed and crawled off her.
''Natsu?''
''Ah, shit. Sorry, Lucy but I had to go to the office today...''
Lucy's expression was unreadable. He was standing there in the room, gathering his clothes – which she didn't recognize him taking off, but somehow he had to managed it – and almost tripping over her bra.
''What? Now?!''
When he looked back at her he saw her pointing at her body, still lying on the bed in the position he had left her with one of the most embarrassed blushed in the world but also one of the most disappointed pouts he had ever seen.
''Gonna make it up to you!''
He was already on the way to the door when she took one pillow and threw it at him. Before it hit him though he slammed the door shut.
''You better do!''
His laugh still reached her ears when he opened the front door.
She couldn't believe what he just did. She was ready for him in more than one way and he just left her, one moment before they could get to the fun part.
Hell, when did she start thinking like that?
With an annoyed groan, she fell back onto the bed and simply smiled at the ceiling.
Seriously, he was just unbeatable.
-o.O.o-
Lucy ran down the stairs when the door bell rang now for the fourth time. She had not been in the mood to open the door after this rather disturbing morning and the she read a very good novel and was now pulled out of the exciting hunt for the criminal.
But the person who ever wanted something from either Natsu or her didn't go away. And this non stop ringing was freaking her out.
She almost ripped the door open and was met with a tall man in a suit.
His grey eyes, unreadable, eliciting something inside of Lucy she didn't like.
''Hello.''
His husky voice sent a shiver over her spine. A voice she didn't like in any way. It sounded rough without any warmth in it.
Lucy snapped when he took a step forward and wanted to enter the house. She closed the door a bit more so only her body was visible.
''Who are you?''
She was surprisingly calm. It wasn't that she knew what she should do but she knew one thing – she wouldn't let him enter, no matter who he was.
The man chuckled darkly and smirked dangerously at her.
''It doesn't matter who I am.''
''I think it does.''
Her hands slowly started to sweat and she cursed herself for not being able to stand strong for once.
Why did it always seem to be so easy for Natsu?
Maybe because she was a girl.
Yeah. Defiantly.
Lucy shook her head at the stupid thought.
''Let me in.''
Again, Lucy's attention snapped when the man demanded something like that. Why would she just let him in? She didn't even know his name.
''I won't.''
When she wanted to close the door for good now, the man stepped forward again, keeping his arm between the door and the frame.
''Lucy, don't be stupid.''
He knew her name. How?
Her fear now again taking the better of her. Who was this man?
''What do you want?''
''Well, your father promised me a girl. I'm only here to get what belongs to me.''
For one split second Lucy lost it and almost let him in but then all her anger and hatred towards her father made her body move on her own and she dipped her head, bit down on his arm and slammed the door shut when he pulled away.
Without a second thought she ran through the house and locked the back door.
The windows. The one in the kitchen was on tilt. Lucy was fast there and shut it, screaming in shock when this man appeared in front of it.
How the hell did he find this place? Why did he come here, from Germany?
Why did this have to happen now? Why did always something happen when she thought that her life was finally normal again after all they had been through?
Lucy bumped against the table when she took shaky steps backwards. The only thing separating her from this creepy man was this window...
Natsu.
She had to call him. Call for help. He was with Kate. She knew what to do-
Her thoughts were crashed when the sound of shattering glass reached her ears.
No, no, no!
This couldn't happen. Fast, she pulled her phone out of her pocket and dialed his number.
Pick up, pick up!
She didn't hear anyone enter the house yet, but it was to quiet. Way to quiet. After all this time she had been on escape with Natsu she also learned some things. Like not losing ones nerve in a situation like this – though she was very close to that.
''Lucy?''
''Natsu! He's here!''
She had no idea if it was smart to scream like that or to just blur out what was happening but adrenaline could do some things to you, you often don't want.
But she realized immediately that he knew that something was wrong.
''What? Who?''
Again, some glass shattered and Lucy flinched slightly. She couldn't even filter out from which direction the noise came.
''This man, Natsu. From Germany.''
This time she almost cried out. For gods shake. Why did he have to go to the office today?
She heard him gasp loudly at the other line and that someone asked if he was alright.
But he didn't answer and that time seemed to be an eternity to Lucy.
''Lucy. Calm down. Is he in your house?''
Kate.
Lucy shook when she thought about the shattered glass. Was he already inside?
''I... I don't know. But some glass shattered a moment ago.''
''Okay. Natsu is already on his way, we're coming with back up. Try to hide somewhere.''
''I'm scared, Kate.''
And then a loud bang sounded through the whole house and Lucy knew that he was inside.
Without her wanting she let the phone drop and ran, upstairs.
Out of reflex she grabbed a knife from one of the drawers before she ran away. In the bed room she hid behind the door but didn't lock it. Some trick she saw in a movie once. Like this would work, seriously but it was worth a try.
She should have ran out of the front door instead of running upstairs. How stupid she was.
Cursing herself could wait. She heard someone sneak up the stairs, whispering.
''Lucy. Come out. We will have a lot of fun.''
Gross. That was just disgusting. The way he said her name – it was wrong in any way you looked at it. Her heart was hammering so hard against her ribcage that she thought it would explode when she heard his footsteps coming closer to the bed room.
Her left hand lifted on its own to cover her mouth, suppressing her loud breathing since she was so nervous and scared.
She had no idea if he knew exactly where she was or if she simply had bad luck but he entered now the bed room and she thought she would die.
He was there, right next to her, only the wooden door was separating him from her. This would be the end of her. Flashbacks how she shot this man at the harbor crossed her mind when she tightened her hand around the knife. Or the time when Sting tried to assault her when she thought about what would happen if she didn't do this now.
No! Everything but that.
She pushed herself right now more than she ever pushed herself.
The man shouted out aloud when she rammed the knife into his shoulder, screaming as well.
He was bleeding, the red liquid dropping onto the ground just like the knife when she let go of it. He flinched and shot her a dangerous glare. Lucy should have run – but she couldn't.
When his hand reached out though a new shot of adrenaline made her run.
She pushed hard against him, shoving him out of the way. But he grabbed her wrist and tugged her with him to the ground.
Fear build up more inside of her when he landed on top of her. She remembered against her will the feeling of Stings's hands, of a stranger's hands on her body and wanted nothing than to top it.
She was kicking, scratching, screaming but nothing helped. By now, his whole shoulder was covered in blood and her hands also were red. An idea. It would hurt him, exactly what she needed.
With all the courage she could master she pressed against his wound, making him flinch in pain again. He was loosening his grip on her and she crawled away from him.
But he recovered way to fast, caught her ankle and yanked her back, in the process losing his balance and they both stumbled down the stairs.
-o.O.o-
Lucy groaned in pain. Seriously... How could a day start so wonderfully perfect and turn out like this?
The man next to her also started to move again though this time it was like in slow motion. Seemed like the wound at his shoulder and this fall down from the stairs hit him more bad than her.
She shakily stood up, squeezing her eyes in pain when her whole side hurt. Lucy crouched down slightly, resting her hands on her knees. She was sweaty and covered in dirt, where it came from was unknown to her, their house actually was clean.
Oh god, she shouldn't care about something like this now. Getting away was a good opportunity for now.
When the sun met her in their fore garden, Lucy had some problems orienting herself. This fall also did something to her. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her – direction, the police office she knew Natsu would come from.
If this man was following her didn't matter to her right now but she just wanted – needed – to get away from there. To get away from another confrontation with something that was connected to her father. But she didn't get too far when a shot filled the empty streets.
Why weren't any people here?
Lucy stiffened and turned around slightly.
There he stood, a weapon directed at her, his face equally like hers, sweaty and dirty.
What now? Did he want to kill her?
''Come over here, Lucy. If you do, nothing's gonna happen to you.''
How was he still able to talk to her so calmly? Did he have no sense of justice? Did he really think it was his right to get her? Just because her father made some strange kind of deal with him...
She could here the sirens in the distance, relief covering her features.
Though it was replaced fast when she heard the man running now, into her direction. What was his plan? Taking her hostage and getting away like that? An impossible solution for this kind of situation. But it seemed that he was capable of doing everything in this moment.
Lucy also broke into a sprint, now seeing his car rounding the corner.
Finally.
There was another shot but she didn't stop. Couldn't stop.
Nothing hurt, so she guessed he missed her. What a lousy gunner he was – not that she would complain.
Natsu had never been faster out of the car than this. Normally he loved to spent time inside of the car.
He was running half way up to her before she just crashed against him, her arms flying around his neck, her hair falling around them. She hadn't realized her tears up to this moment but she didn't care. He could know that she was scared like this.
She knew he'd never be mad at her for her behavior.
Another shot. She realized immediately how his arms tightened around her, pulling her closer still, while his eyes were locked on the man who was slowly approaching them.
It all happened in a flash.
The man pulled the trigger, Natsu pushed Lucy to the ground the moment he heard the squeaking tires of the cars which were now standing everywhere on the street and another trigger was pulled.
And then everything was quiet.
Natsu's hand didn't loosen the slightest bit on her. When he saw her running away like that, her tears falling till no end, the fear and terror in her eyes the only wish he had was to kill that man.
He should have never left her this noon... But how was he supposed to know that this creep knew where they were living? How did he get here anyway?
Only after he saw two of the FBI agents secure the man with handcuffs and dragged him away from the house, Natsu sighed relieved.
The blood on the man's shoulder made him curious though. Why was he bleeding there – that much?
He looked down at Lucy again who was still crying, shaking, her hands tightening around his neck.
That's when he snapped since some kind of liquid was on his neck.
Lucy startled when Natsu took her hands in his and guided them away from his neck, inspecting them. They were covered in blood, a bit still dropping onto the ground beneath them.
''Lucy... Are you okay?''
He wasn't sure if asking that was the best idea but he had to know. He wasn't able to read her expression like he normally was. She was still to shocked.
But then she sighed and wiped away her tears with the back of her arm.
''Kind of.''
Her voice was shaking, an edge to it, he hadn't heard yet.
''Did he do-?''
''No.''
His eyes didn't go off her when Kate approached and placed a comfortable hand on her shoulder.
''We'll take him to the office. Stay here with her until she feels better. Then come over. We need to talk to her as well.'' Kate wasn't really looking at Lucy, more at Natsu since she knew that Lucy probably wasn't really able to take in what she was saying.
Natsu only nodded still looking at the blonde what made Kate only smile. It didn't seem that Lucy was hurt physically, and her mental state could only be handled by Natsu.
Still, she let three agents stay here, take care of the house and also to stand guard until they knew more about all of this.
''I'm sorry I wasn't there.''
''No one could have guessed that something like this would happen.''
Her voice was coming back, sounding stronger than before, more determined.
Oh, this would mean nothing good.
''I want to go with Kate.''
Natsu only shook his head. Why would she go so far? It was no secret that she was scared of this man and now she wanted to face him herself? It was just the same when they came back after Kate found them at that factory when she wanted to face her father, alone.
Why did she always take so many extremes?
''That's not a good idea.''
Lucy had no idea if she was able to stand through this but she pushed herself up, looking back at the house, their house.
Would she be able to feel safe in it again?
''Let me do this, Natsu.''
The determination in her eyes made him consider it for a moment. It was like all her anxiety from a moment ago had been washed away by something he didn't know. But he saw that she really was ready for it. She was ready to face her fear.
He sighed yet again, kind of giving in to her demand but still feeling uneasy.
''You know we stick through this together, right?''
''Yes, I do.''
She gave him one of the warmest smiles she could muster up and wanted to take his hand. When she saw the blood on it she pulled away, fast.
''Let's clean that off.''
Natsu led her back to the house, letting her clean off her hands and change her shirt since there also were some drops of blood on it.
When she was ready they drove to the office, where Kate already waited for them.
-o.O.o-
Behind the transparent mirror, Lucy was amazed. She had seen it so often in movies, with this double mirror but it was something completely different standing behind one.
She could see this man, Steiner was his name, but he couldn't see her. She could hear him and Kate but he couldn't hear her, taking her breaths or whispering some things to Natsu.
Kate was going all out in there, the man was already sweating, fear, nervousness clearly written on his face.
For some reason, Lucy had the incredible desire to just run in there and beat the crap out of this man but she knew better that she wasn't allowed to and also wasn't able to.
''What exactly was the deal between you and Mr Heartfilia?''
It seemed that Steiner was going to tell the truth. The obvious solution since there was no way out for him in this situation. The agents were able to isolate all fingerprints he left in their house and only that he forcefully invaded their personal residence was enough for now to keep him here.
But not only that. They found his apartment in the suburbs and there were a lot of pictures from Lucy in there. Seemed like he had been here for a longer time period now and followed her every move. Only the thought made her shiver. And then there were all the letters from Lucy's father they would find sooner or later... And who knew if Lucy wasn't the only girl he ever wanted to buy?
It was all enough to burden him and keep him away from Lucy and Natsu, for the time being.
''He and I met a few times and that's when he told me about his daughter. He made a good deal for her if you consider how she looks... It was a bargain, if you know what I mean.''
He winked at Kate what made her only roll her eyes.
Behind the mirror Lucy hugged herself, trying to suppress the urge to throw up. How could someone be that disgusting?
Natsu's arm wrapped around her waist and he pulled her against him, making her relax in an instant. Good thing he always knew what she needed.
''So you admit that you just wanted to kidnap her.''
''Kidnap?! This asshole had my money for so long but I never received anything how to proceed for now. I just wanted to get what belonged to me from the very beginning.''
Kate noted something down and closed the folder, tugging it under her arm.
She nodded at the officer standing in the corner of the room and left it.
Natsu and Lucy both turned around when she came into the little side room, sighing when she sat down.
''How are you doing Lucy?''
''Better.''
Kate looked her up and down, scrutinizing especially her legs and arms. It wasn't to obvious that she got herself in a pretty bad fight with this man to save herself.
Not to forget that she fell down the stairs. Lucy hadn't told someone but after she changed all the scratches were visible.
''Did someone check up on you?''
''Not yet.''
''I see.''
The elder woman stood up again and looked through the mirror. Steiner was still sitting there, even a guilty expression on his face.
''What's gonna happen to him now?''
Kate sighed, clearly tired.
''He confessed, somehow. He's gonna stand trial and then we know more.''
She turned to face the two teens.
''Maybe I should move in with you for a little bit.''
Natsu and Lucy looked at each other for a second, both turning red at some point. Would that be a good idea? And why would Kate to move in in the first place? Weren't they safe now after Steiner had been taken? Or was it just some security measure for Kate to make sure that everything was okay?
''Or I position some agents at your house to watch over you two 24/7.''
Again, their heads were red. Then it would be better to have Kate around, probably.
They both just needed one look at each other to understand.
''We'd better have you.''
The woman managed an amused smile and gripped Lucy's shoulder slightly when she passed them.
''Okay. I'm gonna bring my things over in the evening. Lucy go see a doctor.''
''Hmhm.''
When she left they both sighed.
''Are we ever going to live a normal life?''
Natsu chuckled softly at her remark. That this started now meant nothing good. It could only turn out worse now. What if something else would happen?
''You're still taking this very well.''
It was true. She was calm, at ease even. Okay, when Steiner was there breaking into their house she sure was scared, even pissed that something from the past hunted them now again but right now, she was okay. Fine with this.
''I decided that I wouldn't let something like this control my life.''
She flashed him a bright smile and pushed herself up slightly to press a soft kiss on his cheek.
Natsu smiled and wrapped his arm around her, pulling her in for a real kiss.
''So, living with Kate.''
Lucy also smiled knowing what he wanted to say. Having such a warm hearted but still dominating nature in the house would probably rouch up some things at home.
''That should be fun.''
