Hi guys, I'm finally back and writing! My exams ended just a few days ago, and I spent a couple of days typing this, so I'm really sorry for the late update. Here's the story. :D
I could shoot... Alex thought, his mind whirling, the gears in his head literally creaking to piece together whatever he remembered. All he wanted to know was the truth, but every time he thought about it, it sent shivers down his spine, goosebumps forming on the back of his neck.
He spun around on his chair, hooking his feet to the legs of his tables, controlling the direction he spun. Leaning back, he stared at the ceiling and thought...and thought...
"-ex! Alexxx!" Someone called in his ear, breaking his train of thoughts. Warm air skimmed across his ear, making his ear tingle, sending jolts down his nerves. Panicking, Alex hastily jumped up, but got his feet tangled at the legs of the table. His chair had been pushed backwards by momentum, causing him to slip off his seat and land on the floor with a loud "thud".
Gritting his teeth, Alex tried to get some air into his lungs. The crash had forced the air out from his lungs, leaving him a little winded.
"Alex! Did I scare you? Alex!" The person squatted down and placed both hands on Alex's shoulders for support. Alex sat up properly, wincing a little. He gave a loud groan, and eased himself off the floor and onto his bed. He flung himself flat on his back in the bed, then flipped over, face buried in his pillow.
"Alex. Are you all right? I didn't mean to scare you, but you were so deep in thought you didn't hear..." Ben trailed off, feeling guilty about scaring his charge and possibly, causing injury.
A muffled "I'm fine" came from the pillow.
Ben grinned, "Knew you'll be fine!" He slapped Alex's butt and ruffled his hair, further burying his face into the pillow, in the act of trying to get him off the bed. Alex lifted up his head, arching his back and flipped over, giving an outrage cry. "Ben! That hurt!"
"So now you're resorting to whining?"
"Pretty much. And I call that rape. I am underage, after all."
"Hey! I wasn't going to let you laze around. Get up, we're going."
"Huh? Where?"
"Out. Cycling."
"I don't think so Ben...all that bouncing and bumping. I don't think my newly formed bruise will like it." Alex glared at Ben, sitting up slowly and rubbing his tailbone.
"Uh uh, not gonna happen!" With a sly grin, Ben scooped Alex up in his arms. The boy was still a little too light, and Ben had a thought of stuffing him with lard to make him gain weight. With a little twist, he flipped Alex over his shoulder. Alex gave a startled yell, wiggling to get out of Ben's grasp. He pounded on Ben's back, and threatened to pull Ben's pants down if he did not let go.
"Let's go!" Ben yelled, pretending not to hear Alex.
"No! No! Let go, Ben! K…K-unit…No…!" Alex thrashed, trying to get down, but at the same time, trying to not kick Ben in the chest. But even if I did, he thought, it's his own fault.
"Uh…Ben?" Wolf squinted, his eyebrows cocked. Alex stiffened at the voice, his face growing redder till it shone a glowing maroon. K-unit stood at the hallway, all of them gaping at Ben, and the bottom half of Alex. Snake leaned on the wall, trembling in silent laughter, whereas Lion just gave a smirk. It was so quiet that they could hear the loud "thunk" of Alex's head hitting Ben's back in embarrassment.
"Yeah? We're going cycling, wanna join?"
"Nah, no thanks. I had enough after the paintballing…"
"And why can't I disagree either?" Alex growled.
"You are my charge and thus, you have to listen to me." Ben smirked.
"I'm sixteen! I'm old enough to make decisions—"
"But still underage."
Alex gave a growl that could easily match Wolf's. Struggling and stretching his hand, he tried to reach for Ben's pants.
"Off with your pants…"
"I don't swing that way, uh uh. Be a good cub," Ben smiled.
"—and listen to Mother Fox," a voice came from the first floor. Eagle appeared at the stairway, holding a drink. "Cheers!" He said, and took a sip.
Ben looked at Eagle weirdly, but decided to ignore him. That man had never really been sane anyway.
"Ben, put Alex down. If he was to roll off your arms, I'll behead you…" Wolf growled.
"Oh…right! See 'ya then!" Ben swallowed audibly. Wolf's threats were usually made true, but Alex's threats depended on circumstances…
Ben set Alex on the floor and he steered Alex down the stairs.
"Ooh…someone's feeling fatherly!" An annoying voice came from behind Wolf. Wolf spun around, and glared at Eagle, who had a smirk plastered to his lips, waving a can of Red Bull.
"Shut it. And which idiot said he could have Red Bull?!"
"You were the one who took the drink out and stupidly left it on the table, Wolf."
Ben led Alex down to the garage, where two bikes were chained to the walls. Unlocking the bike, they wheeled it out into the open.
Alex examined his bike—a light aluminium frame painted neon blue—and tested it. The seat was comfortable enough, and the wheels were pretty large. It was the same design as Ben's, except that Ben's bike was neon orange, which was much more striking. They mounted the bikes, and went out with a screech of tires.
What Ben didn't tell Alex was the bikes were specially made by Smithers. The bike had a smooth aluminium frame, sleek and light, but armored. The bike had a small headlight, where when activated with a button at the corner, a laser beam is produced instead of a normal orange glow. The laser could cut through most materials, although it often left a sizzling, choking smell. What was even better was that it is easily detached from the bike, and can be carried around. The tires are bulletproof from long-range shots, but unfortunately, not those in closer distance. Inside the small canvas sack attached to the handbars of the bike contained a water-purifying waterbottle, which, according to Smithers, "would come in handy when you get stuck in a jungle". Ben couldn't make any sense of attaching such equipment along with the bike, but he always thought that Smithers had a weird sense of logic. But that just made him one of the best gadget masters in the world. A strong soil of rope, reinforced with wire inside lay in the bottom of the canvas sack.
But Ben's bike had a small little difference. A handgun, a Browning Hi-power, was carefully camouflaged with the aluminum frame. The handgun was coated neon orange with a couple of black stripes, and it could pass metal detectors easily…although the bike itself couldn't. Ben knew that it was there, but worried that he might miss it in times of need.
"Target sighted," a man muttered to the pilot. The helicopter moved slowly, while the man focused his binoculars, looking down to the road. The gates of what seemed to be an ordinary house opened, and a blur of neon blue and orange flashed by. The man smirk. He knew that the target was never dead. But he recovered rather nicely. "Excellent. We need him in perfect condition…" the man smirked. He climbed back into his seat beside the pilot and ordered him to turn back to where they came from.
The man smiled, almost kindly, and pressed on a blue button.
"The board members are going to be glad."
Inside Alex's room, the small silver scorpion stood on the table. With a light shiver, it scuttled robotically out of the gap below the closed bedroom door.
A small pinhole camera stared at the surroundings.
Okay, so...it's kinda short, I know. I really wanted to update something, so I decided to post what I've written and leave a little suspense. :D I was feeling a little sorry for Alex 'cos he's been suffering a lot. And a sequel is coming up and he's going to suffer more, so I thought I should bring in some family bonding first, so at least Alex has someone to trust even though he suffered tremendously. Yup, I never meant to bring SCORPIA into the next few chapters, so I'm wondering if I should replace it with a new organisation...OH NO SPOILERS ALERT... Anyway, thanks for reading and REVIEW PLEASE~! I would 3 to hear your request for stories or certain appearance of other characters. I was thinking of starting another story...A ROMANCE one...whoops. No Mary-Sue for that though. :))
