Stuck In Hetalia
(Vicki's POV of the party)
Wow… this place is so huge. Spain, Romano, Italy, and I just arrived in England for the formal party. The first thought that came to mind when I heard of the invitation was, "A tea party?" I mean, since when was England a partyer? Spain had bought the dress I was wearing for me, and I actually really like it.
While we were checking things out, Italy ran off to follow Germany around. I giggled softly as I watched Italy run behind Germany and hug him, surprising Germany. I found those two so cute together!
I followed Spain and Romano as they walked to a far wall and Romano leaned against it, glowering at Spain who was annoying him by commenting on how cute he looked in a suit.
Smiling at the sight, I wondered why they're relationship was so one-sided. Then Addi walked up to me. After I got over the shock of seeing her in a frilly blue dress, she told me how Canada wouldn't let her out in a skirt and sneakers. Yeah, I can kind of see why he had to make her. If she showed up in anything else, she would stand out, and not in a good way...
I laughed and we looked around for Sarah. She was probably wearing black. There was no way China could force her into something she didn't want to wear, not like Canada had. But I was way off. We finally found her with... Belarus.
Darn it, Belarus is so creepy! Really, even Russia is scared of her. At least she mostly bothers Sarah, I don't think she really cares about anyone who's not interested in her brother. Except, Sarah's not interested. Or is she? So... why? Wait, what? Is Sarah? And if she's not, what about Belarus? Never mind. Too confusing.
I approached them and said 'hello'. Once I realized I was stuttering, I stepped back behind Addi. She may be younger, but she has that weird strength of hers.
Addi managed to get Sarah away from a ticked off Belarus.
She dragged us to an empty table and we sat down.
I sighed in relief, "Thank god, Belarus freaks me out! I don't have your positive outlook Addi! Or Sarah's hate for... everyone?" Even though they're polar opposites, Addi's sweet and energetic perspective of everything keep her forever happy and cheerful. It's like she can't be intimidated. And Sarah's cruel and matter-of-fact personality keep her from getting hurt, or from being challenged. Especially when she turns violent and dangerous.
Sarah complained about how annoying Belarus was and Addi seemed to be like me, relieved she didn't target her.
They continued talking, both not listening to each other. I think Sarah was muttering to herself and Addi was talking about how awesome America is. I swear, she should just write, 'I have a crush' on her forehead. It's painfully obvious but I find it cute. I've always loved romance, no matter how cheesy it can be.
While I was looking around, Addi pulled me and Sarah towards the dance floor. Sarah and I stopped. Addi furrowed her eyebrows.
Sarah told her, "I don't dance."
I said, "I can't dance…"
It's true though, I'll just end up embarrassing myself. Still, Addi didn't mind and tried to teach us anyway.
I did my best, meaning I sucked horribly. Sarah seemed like she didn't really care, though. But when the next song came on, Addi dragged us to the center...
Everyone could see us now. This was going to be so humiliating!
So, I increased my effort and did easier moves that I saw Addi do and tried not to lose balance. I saw Sarah wasn't a bad dancer (way better than me actually).
Out of nowhere, it was announced we pair up. I attempted to sneak off the dance floor but found no way out. Looking around, I saw everyone was paired up, was I the only one?
I noticed Addi was also alone. But then America pulled her into a dance, voluntarily pairing up with her. I smiled at the sight, it was so adorable!
Turning to check behind me, I decided to find my brothers. I thought I saw Romano's hair curl and walked towards him but ended up bumping into someone. When I was only half a foot away from hitting the floor, I felt someone grab my hand and pull me upright.
I looked up- no way. England.
He raised an eyebrow and asked, "Are you alright?"
I nodded and introduced, "I'm Vicki... and you're England!"
He nodded, too.
I apologized to him, "Sorry for the trouble."
"It's fine. Would you care to dance, miss?"
I shrugged, "Sure, I guess."
He held out his hand and I took it.
We started waltzing and I blushed at how much I was stumbling. Looking down for the umpteenth time, I felt his fingers under my chin pull my head up so I was staring at his face.
"No need to look down, alright?"
I confirmed, thinking he was quite handsome. Without looking down, I continued to keep myself mesmerized in his bright, green eyes. They were enchanting.
I found myself dancing better.
"There you go, you dance fine. And it's better for me to look at your face rather than your hairline."
I beamed and glanced over his shoulder, seeing a red-faced Romano and a smiling Spain beside him.
I looked back up at England. He wasn't quite smiling, but maybe it's because of his tsundere personality.
"You know, this is kind of fun."
He nodded and twirled me quickly before putting his arm back around my waist and bringing us close once more.
"You know, you're not a bad person."
I tilted my head in confusion, "What do you mean?"
He frowned, "Well, sooner or later, everyone I meet ends up insulting me."
"Why would I do that?"
He replied, "Everyone does. It's natural, I guess, but I'm pretty sure it's mostly my eyebrows, though."
I smiled, "There's nothing wrong with your eyebrows. Actually, I think they make you look charming!"
He seemed stunned for a moment. Maybe he really hadn't been complimented in while...
Then, I swear I saw a small blush before he looked away, "Thank you."
"You're welcome."
But still, he wouldn't face me.
"Look, if we were all the same, this world would be boring. Right?" I asked.
When he turned back with a smirk on his face, he answered, "Right."
And then he chuckled softly to himself, which made me feel pleased as well. So we remained dancing until our legs grew weary. By the counter, I giggled as I saw him drink his tea like a gentleman. The lemonade I had ordered tasted, how to put it... like English cooking. Not wanting to offend him, I took a light two or three sips before leaving it on the tabletop, unable to drink any more.
We talked for about an hour and had fun. The part I loved the most was when he told me all sorts of cool and thrilling tales about his days as a pirate. I even heard stories about Spain!
When I saw America and Addi having fun as well, I smiled. She was blushing, hiding it behind her can of coke, and America was goofing around.
I rubbed my eyes and sighed. Great… they're starting to get irritated. I quickly excused myself and went to the bathroom. Taking out my contacts, I dabbed my eyes with cold water. But when I reached for one, it fell down the sink.
"No. Nonononononono!" I cried.
I grumbled and threw my other contact away. Taking out my rectangular black glasses, I slipped them on and checked myself in the mirror.
I heard a knock, opened the door, and found Sarah.
"That's where your glasses were."
I nodded and let her in. She immediately started taking her bun down and said, "God, this is so annoying! That Chinese prick made me dress like this and he did my hair and brought me to some asshole's party."
"Hey! England's not an asshole."
"Why do you care? ...What's wrong?" She was getting suspicious. And when Sarah was suspicious of something, she usually got her answers one way or another.
"Nothing. I just think the party's pretty cool."
She placed the hairpins in a pouch but kept the hair tie, bringing her now wavy hair into a high ponytail. She tightened it and huffed, blowing her bangs to the side. We left together and went back to our former seats to talk. Sitting down, I saw England talking with France and felt my face flush.
Sarah mistakenly asked, "Why are you blushing? Did something happen during that stupid dance? France didn't do anything perverted, did he?"
"No, it has nothing to do with France."
She nodded, "That was so pointless. Hey, who did you dance with?"
I whispered, "…England…"
She stared at me, "Seriously? You chose bushy brows?"
I pouted, "They aren't bushy! Well… a little, but it's not bad!"
She rolled her eyes and snickered, "Are you joking? They're caterpillars! He's just like Rock Lee!" (AN: Naruto references!)
I shook my head furiously, "Well, what about you, who did you dance with?"
She turned away and scowled, "I'll tell you and the Shortstack tomorrow, alright?"
I laughed a little at Addi's nickname and agreed. We continued talking until Romano came to us dragging an upset Italy behind him. Spain followed in suit.
Romano ordered, "We're leaving, let's go."
I waved to Sarah who nodded.
We walked back and in the car, Romano was scolding Italy for hanging out with Germany and I sighed looking out the window.
Then Romano shouted, "And you, you're not off the hook, sorellina!"
"Huh?! What did I do?!"
Romano said, "You danced with the English brat!"
I groaned and Romano continued, "No one is allowed to touch my sorellina, understood? It's bad enough that this idiota here is with that German cane bastardo! Now you're gonna fall for some idiota Bretagna!"
I blushed lightly, "Alright, whatever."
He growled but didn't stop insulting and cursing.
We arrived home and I was beyond exhausted by then. Romano had to carry Italy who had fallen into a deep sleep and Spain and I walked wearily to our rooms.
I immediately changed into a T-shirt and shorts after shutting my bedroom door and crawled in my bed. I closed my eyes and left them closed even when I heard my door faintly squeak. I soon felt a pair of lips on my forehead and I fell asleep contently.
Translations:
sorellina: little sister
cane bastardo: mutt
idiota: idiot or idiotic
Bretagna: Britain
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. I had to rewrite it all and it was really annoying.
Okay, next chapter is in Sarah's POV. Anyways, arrivederci!
