Chapter 9: The Beginning of the End

As the light of the morning sun hit Kyon's eyes, he woke up to see he was laying in his own bed at home. He scratched the back of his head to figure out exactly what had happened, as he wasn't sure if the past three days had been just a dream to him.

He got up to see Shamisen laying on the bed staring at him, "Don't even think about talking, you know the rules." Kyon said. Shamisen then jumped off and walked through the creek of the door. As Kyon got outside he went to check the date to see if his suspicions were confirmed.

The date read Monday, March 14, which means that the events that occurred actually happened. He decided he would find Sasuke in the student address book later to check up on him, then he decided to watch some TV to catch up on the past events that happened the last two weeks.

As soon as the TV screen revealed the program, he started to get a little nervous. The local news was reporting of the solar flare explosion that happened when Sasuke blew Janemba up. He saw that researchers were already on top of the situation, but due to three satellites getting destroyed in the process, they could not figure it out at the time.

Kyon shut the TV off and decided to find Sasuke in the address book right away. When he got to the kitchen, he heard the doorbell ring. As he walked slowly over to the door, he noticed from the glass window two figures standing at the door. When he opened it he saw both Sasuke and Asakura talking to each other. Kyon was still a bit nervous around Asakura, but she still held a pleasant smile around him.

"Hey Kyon! Good to see you're ok." Sasuke said. Kyon looked up and down at Sasuke, he noticed there were no injuries whatsoever, but he did notice that his jewel on his necklace was still cut in half though. Kyon asked them to come in and they both sat down.

"So, um…Asakura, what exactly are you going to do about getting back into the school?" asked Sasuke.

Asakura looked up and smiled, "Oh, well I was quite confused about that myself. Since I'm back I have decided to help Ms. Nagato in her observation of M.s Suzumiya, it seems that I shall be enrolling back in as soon as the break ends, and might i say I'm glad to be back with my friends."

Kyon, still uneasy, tried to smile at the situation. Asakura looked at him and suddenly looked glum. She scooted next to Kyon, "Kyon…I know that you are very worried about me…but I just want to say that I'm sorry…I'm sorry for putting you in an experience you couldn't quite imagine would happen, and as traumatized as you are by it, I hope you can forgive me, and we could become good friends if you don't mind..."

Kyon took a sigh of relief as he was now in a calm state, "Thank you Asakura, I'm very happy to hear that from you. I'd like to be friends as well…"

Asakura tilted her head and smiled a very affectionate smile. Sasuke got back on topic as started to explain, "So, as it may seem, the Western Supreme Kai has been discussing back and forth about my tremendous victory against Janemba, and so now that the Western Supreme Kai has ordered me to observe her as well, it looks like I am now in the S.O.S. Brigade permanently."

Kyon thought to himself, (Yeah, just don't go around turning your hair gold in the middle of Ms. Asahina's dressing session.)

Asakura and Sasuke both got up, "I know it's been short, but that's about all we had to tell. Well, I hope I could hang out with you later this week Kyon."

Kyon nodded, "Yeah, you seem like a cool guy now that I know you. Both of you enjoy the rest of your day."

They both exited and parted ways, Asakura went back to the apartment and Sasuke went to explore town. The layout seemed like his original home planet. As he wandered around, he saw that everyone was either busy or on their way to an event. As Sasuke was walking, it started to get dark, and he decided he might've wanted to get back to his planet.

When he decided to go to the park where no one was around, he saw someone in the distance. The figure dropped the bag she was carrying and put her hands over her mouth as a tiny squeak was heard from her. Sasuke, although very feint, recognized it. He ran up to her as she ran to him.

"Sasuke!" "Mikuru!" They both yelled out at each other as they ran up and hugged each other tightly.

"Sasuke…I…I thought I would never see you again…" Mikuru said as she started to whimper. He sighed in relief of her voice, "I thought I wouldn't either."

They both starred at each other contently, both in tears, as they then kissed at the sheer happiness they were in. They both had their hands on each ones faces, caressing each other's hair. They let go as Mikuru wanted answers "Sasuke, what happened? Is Janemba gone? Did we win?" He sighed as he looked up at the sky.

"Janemba is not gone, he still lives on in the future, however when I return tonight, I will finally be able to fight his weakened counterpart. This is just the beginning of the end."

Mikuru got worried, "Oh please don't get hurt, I can't imagine losing you again. I always want to be with you no matter what, I'll always believe in you."

Sasuke felt his heart skipped a beat as he heard those words that helped him beat his worst fear. He hugged her tightly one last time as he asked her, "Would you like to come to the future with me to see my home planet one day?"

She smiled up at him, "Only if you could walk me home..."

The two held hands as they walked out into the moonlit night.

The End.
