Chapter 10
"Inuyasha…?" A doctor called out, walking into the waiting room.
Inuyasha immediately stood up and walked over to the doctor, "How is she?"
"She's asleep right now, the procedure lasted a little bit longer than expected. But she's all right. You can go in and see her."
Inuyasha walked by the doctor and proceeded into Kagome's room, he turned the corner and saw Kagome lying helplessly in bed. He could tell that she was distraught; her grip was tight on the sheets over her stomach. Whatever it was, or whoever it was; I'm not going to let them live this out. Our child will be avenged. Inuyasha thought, as he let out a huff before walking into Kagome's room.
He slowly entered the room and caught her staring out into the dreary day; he moved across the room and sat in the chair next to Kagome. He placed his hand on her stomach, and whispered her name.
"Kagome…?"
"Hmmm?" Kagome mumbled, still looking out the window.
"Will you look at me?" Inuyasha asked.
Her head slowly turned towards the worried hanyou, her face was puffy, and her eyes were red as well as her nose. She must've been crying this whole time. Inuyasha thought as he kissed her nose. He held her hands and looked at her with a smile on his face.
"It's going to be okay, Kagome."
"No, it's not Inuyasha…I lost our child…" Kagome whimpered, "I was naïve, I shouldn't have gone after something that didn't feel right to me, but I was too curious."
Inuyasha silenced her with a gentle kiss, as he rested his head on hers before saying another thing.
"What happened? Like why did you run off?"
"I sensed…something familiar. But, it has to be impossible…"
"What was it?"
"Miss Higurashi…? We need to run some tests to check your vitals and your current health status." A nurse practitioner said walking into the room.
Inuyasha nodded and stood up, walking out the door, smiling at Kagome.
"I'm going to get Izayoi." Inuyasha said, waving to Kagome leaving her alone with the practitioner.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~IN THE FEUDAL ERA~~~~~~~~~
"Izayoi come inside for dinner!" Sango shouted from inside the hut.
As Izayoi walked towards the hut, she stopped in her tracks when she caught a familiar scent. She looked over her shoulder towards the Forest of Inuyasha, and stared into the woods.
"Izaoyi!" Sango shouted once again.
Izayoi remained in her place, still looking at the Forest of Inuyasha. Without another moment, Izayoi raced to the Forest of Inuyasha towards the familiar scent. Sango immediately raced after her, hoping she wouldn't go too far.
"Hey, Izayoi!" A man said, lifting her up into the sky.
Izayoi giggled happily as she began to hug the man excitedly.
"Izayoi, get back…Oh, Inuyasha." Sango said with a relief. "I thought she was just running off."
Inuyasha looked at Sango, then back at Izayoi. "Do you want to go see mama?"
"Mama!" Izayoi shouted as she bounced in Inuyasha's arms.
He chuckled, as he looked at Sango. "We'll be back soon; not entirely sure when…but soon."
"No rush, take your time…" Sango stopped herself; "Say hi to Kagome for me."
~~~~~~~~~~~PRESENT DAY~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Everything seems to be going well, Miss Higurashi." The nurse practitioner said.
The nurse practitioner wrote down all of Kagome's vitals, before checking the IV fluids.
"Is there any prediction as to when I'll be discharged?" Kagome asked.
"If everything continues to improve, I'd say by the end of the week."
Kagome let a sigh of relief, at least she wouldn't have to be stuck in the hospital for a long time.
"Is there anything you need, Miss Higurashi?"
Kagome shook her head, and looked at the ring on her finger. How could it have been a jewel shard? It doesn't make any sense; Kaede purified the jewel shard from the darkness and molded it into one. And now it's on my finger…
"Kagome…?" A man said, entering her room.
Kagome turned her head to the door to see who was entering her room; it was the last person she expected to see especially after how things left off.
"Hojo…? What…are you doing here?" Kagome asked in shock.
"My dad told me you were brought earlier last week due to an injury. I just wanted to make sure you were okay…I mean, I care for…"
"Shut up."
"But, Kagome…"
"Hojo, just stop it." Kagome demanded.
Hojo walked further into her room, shutting the door behind him. Kagome immediately reached for her call button, but it fell off her bed; leaving her and Hojo alone in the room. He glided across the room, and stood next to her, resting his hand on her shoulder. Kagome pulled back away from him.
"Kagome, I don't know what happened between us; but I never gave up on you." Hojo whispered, "I knew you weren't really sick in high school, you were trying to avoid me the whole time. Every time I asked you on a date, you never showed up."
Kagome flinched knowing part of it was true; she was never trying to avoid him, but she never did show up to their dates.
"Hojo…I wasn't avoiding you." Kagome said. "The truth is…"
Before Kagome could say anything else, Inuyasha slammed open the door; put Izayoi down and instantly grabbed Hojo by the neck. Izayoi instantly ran over to Kagome, and jumped onto the hospital bed.
"Mama! I missed you!" Izayoi shouted, giving Kagome a big hug.
Kagome placed her arm around Izayoi, and continued to watch Inuyasha and Hojo.
"Give me one reason not to rip your throat right here." Inuyasha growled.
"Plea..s.e…sto…p" Hojo coughed, trying to loosen Inuyasha's grip.
Kagome looked at Inuyasha with a worried look on her face, sure she didn't like Hojo…and Inuyasha wasn't a fan; but that didn't mean he needed to cause a scene.
"Inuyasha…stop…" Kagome whispered.
Inuyasha looked over at Kagome in the bed, and growled.
"What was he doing to you?"
"Nothing…I was trying to tell him the truth." Kagome said, "The truth about us, and everything…"
Inuyasha froze and dropped Hojo on the ground and raced over to Kagome.
"You mean about the Feudal Era?" Inuyasha whispered.
Kagome nodded, looking at her husband. "He needs to know…he still has this obsession with me, but he's not going to give up unless he knows the truth. And the whole truth."
"Just tell him about us, Kagome. He doesn't need to know about the Feudal Era…just us and Izayoi."
Kagome huffed as she nodded. Inuyasha walked to the other side of Kagome and wrapped his arm around his wife and held his daughter's hand. Hojo slowly got up, coughing for air. His back was to them, but only for a second.
"Hojo…you need to know the truth." Kagome said.
Hojo turned around and faced them, looking at the strange man with his arm around Kagome, and at the little girl.
"The truth?" Hojo questioned.
