Chapter 9

The tragedy of life is not death but what we let die inside of us while we live- Norman Cousins

There are many things I expected to wake up to this morning. For instance, I expected to see the sunrise as it came up over the water or Klaus making breakfast as he ogled me in his shirt again. So imagine my utter surprise when I wake up in the confines of my own room back in Mystic Falls. I sit up groggily as I rub the sleep out of my eyes. I look around at the numerous boxes I haven't bothered to unpack and the bare walls that need a fresh coat of paint. I wouldn't even call this a room because a room signifies comfort and warmth. This is more like a pit stop for me.

"Alba!" I turn my head to the door a large smile splitting my face when I find a beaming Danny. She's bouncing on the balls of her feet looking much better than the last time I seen her.

"Well," I say holding out my arms. "Aren't you going to give me a hug?" I just laugh and shake my head when she tackles me to the bed. I squeeze her to my chest as I relish the fact that I'm back with Danny; exactly where I need to be.

"Aw don't I get a hug?" I roll my eyes and smirk as I make eye contact with a pouting Rebekah over Danny's shoulder. She's standing just inside the doorway watching me with a hidden smile that knows way more than she's willing to share.

"Not unless you can tell me how I got here," I raise an eyebrow when Danny suddenly pulls away in excitement. Her face is alight with joy and happiness.

"Klaus brought you! You should have seen him Alba! He carried you up to bed like a knight in shining armor, it was so romantic." She gushes making me deadpan at Rebekah who is snickering into her hand. "And look what he bought me!" I watch as she jumps out of bed and twirls in circles making the yellow sundress she's wearing flare around her knees. "Isn't it the prettiest thing you've ever seen?" She sighs smoothing the dress down in a loving manner. I feel my lip twitch into a half smile while I watch how smitten Danny is with Klaus already.

"I think the girl wearing it is what makes it beautiful." I tell her noting the way Rebekah's lips turn down in sadness. I feel a pang of something in my belly as I move my eyes from Danny to her. "Rebekah," I get her attention as she looks at me, "I'm borrowing that top." I smirk when she grins adjusting the white halter top hanging off her shoulders to compliment her fitted blue jeans.

"We'll see," she teases moving farther into the room to plop down at the foot of my bed. "Why haven't you unpacked yet?" She asks curiously looking around the room in thought.

"Good question. Almost as good as where is your brother and how did he get me here without me waking up?" I watch her huff in annoyance at my avoidance of her question.

"He most likely slipped something into your drink, a potion from his witch when you weren't looking. It probably knocked you out cold for the flight back." She shrugs like this happens all the time before turning her eyes on Danny. "Danny will you go grab that letter from downstairs for me please?" Rebekah asks sweetly shocking me that please is even a part of her vocabulary.

"Sure thing Beks," Danny replies running out of the room and disappearing around the corner. I don't comment on the nicknames nor do I mention the new found closeness between Danny and the original.

"Alright spill, what happened between you and Nic while you were away?" Rebekah asks eagerly reminding me of an animal going after its prey. I lean back against the pillows a playful smirk sliding across my face.

"You know what they say, what happens in Greece stays in Greece." I chuckle when Rebekah narrows her blue eyes at me.

"Then why are you in his shirt?" She questions smugly motioning to the thin fabric covering my body. I do my best to recall my thought process last night before remembering I purposely put the shirt back on just to tease the hybrid further. I guess my plan worked a little too well.

"I had no other clothes," I shrug innocently enjoying Rebekah's anger at not getting any gossip.

"Alright found it!" Danny yells breathlessly running into the room and throwing herself on the bed. "Here you go Alba." She hands the folded piece of paper to me enthusiastically. I take the parchment from her shaking hands while flipping it open to read what's inside.

Alba,

I'll be seeing you love.

Klaus

P.S. You look ravishing in my shirt. Keep it.

I shake my head and wad the paper up before letting it sail right into the trash can. Rebekah just giggles while Danny looks appalled.

"Alba! What was that for?" She asks angrily clearly hoping this one letter would make me fall madly in love with the hybrid.

"It was nothing Danny, don't worry about it." I sigh rolling out of bed and moving over to one of my boxes. I open it searching through the clothes inside as the sound of a car door slamming shut catches my attention. I perk up at that as does Rebekah as we look to each other. "Is that who I think it is?" I ask a small smirk sliding over our faces.

"I think it is," she grins mischievously as loud rapid knocking sounds through the house. I look down at Klaus's shirt and the boy shorts covering my body in amusement as the knocking becomes more urgent. "He can't get in."

"Nope," I smirk sauntering out of the room, "watch Danny." I throw over my shoulder as I pad softly down the stairs and to the front door that is now shaking on its hinges with the force of the knocks.

"If you break my door, you buy me a new house." I grin widely swinging the door open expecting the sight of Damon on the other side. He just smirks shoving his hands in the pocket of his jeans.

"Maybe if I was invited in I wouldn't have to resort to such drastic measures," he answers coolie, his face impassive as he gives me the once over. I watch in complete amusement as his eyes finally register the shirt hanging off my body. It's like a flip has been switched as his cool façade falls; pure fury replacing his mask. "Tell me that's not what I think it is," he growls low in his throat. I look down running the soft material of the shirt through my fingers.

"Well it's not what you think it is," I say drawing his attention from the shirt to my smug eyes, "it's exactly what you know it is."

"Take it off now." Damon snarls his blue eyes darkening with each passing second. I can tell he wants to reach through the door and strangle me himself, but that's not happening anytime soon.

"Not going to happen Damon." I grin crossing my arms and leaning against the door frame. "Actually I may just keep it and wear it to bed every night." I snicker when his anger only increases as the veins under his eyes start to protrude.

"Fine," he answers tightly working on getting his breathing under control. "Where were you? Where did he take you? How did he find you?" Damon fires off the questions one by one; his brain working faster than his mouth can process.

"Where we went is none of your concern and as for how he found me. He saved me." I shrug looking over Damon's shoulder to the empty street. I am definitely not in Santorini anymore.

"What do you mean he saved you?" Damon asks his voice low and deep. For the first time since I met the man I can finally see the animal in him; the predator that the doppelgänger locked away months ago.

"I mean that Klaus was there when you wouldn't take time away from your precious doppelgänger to come take me home. Klaus is the one that pulled that trucker off of me when you were busy making lovey eyes at Elena." I lean forward so my face is just at the barrier where he can look me straight in the eyes when I tell him this. "Klaus deserves my answers; you don't deserve me at all." With that I slam the door in his face choosing to block out the hurt so clearly displayed in his eyes. Damon Salvatore is not hurt, he's angry he doesn't have control.

"Well that was entertaining!" Rebekah sings coming down the stairs with Danny not far behind. I roll my eyes and pad to the kitchen in search of food.

"You sound just like your brother," I murmur opening the fridge to inspect its contents. I frown when I see how bare it is on the inside. "Did you feed Danny?" I peek out from behind the fridge door to glare at Rebekah when she doesn't answer me right away.

"Of course I fed Danny Alba," she sighs shaking her head at me and nudging Danny in the shoulder who can't keep the grin off her face. "And I do not sound like my brother." She snaps with venom making me raise my eyebrow in suspicion.

"Hmm, what has your panties in a twist?" I ask curiously leaning against the counter top my undivided attention on the blond original. I watch anger contort her features as well as grief, but she's quick to dispute any of my suspicions.

"Nothing is wrong with me. What are you wearing tonight?" She jumps to another subject refusing to give answers to my questions. I cross my arms not budging, but of course Danny is new to the game.

"What's going on tonight?" She asks looking between Rebekah and I who are having a battle of the wills. Rebekah answers smoothly never batting an eyelash as she holds my gaze.

"The homecoming dance and your sister is going whether she wants to or not." Rebekah beams, her smile holding a silent threat that would leave anyone else shaking in their boots.

"Actually I will not be going nor will you be going." I reply brightly even surprising myself at how well I can play off the cheerful blond. Rebekah scoffs crossing her arms finally tearing her eyes from mine.

"What makes you think you have any say over what I do?" Rebekah laughs at the absurdity of it as I grin in triumph.

"And what gave you the impression that you had any say over what I do?" I ask with just as much disbelief. I watch her smile falter as she thinks this over.

"Well played," she nods standing from her chair. "But if you'll excuse me I have some business to attend to." I follow close behind her as she walks to the door.

"What's going on Rebekah?" I ask low making sure Danny can't hear me from her place still in the kitchen. "What is going on?" I search her face as I see the internal war raging in her eyes. She wants to tell me something, but for some odd reason something else is holding her back.

"I'm sorry Alba, I really am. I hope you forgive me." She says before disappearing out the door. I don't even try to go after her, what's the point? She isn't my problem.

"Danny why are we here?" I ask exasperated as she leads me into yet another dress shop. For Mystic Falls being the size of my toe nail it sure has a lot of damn stores.

"Because Alba, you promised me that you would try to leave the supernatural world behind you and going to your homecoming dance is very normal." Danny sighs holding up an emerald silk dress that looks much too long for the girl admiring it.

"Good point, but I would much rather stay home with you after being gone for so long." I nudge her with my hip as she giggles shoving me back.

"You were gone for two days which wasn't long enough. I thought the least Klaus could do was spend an entire week with you." Danny grumbles sulking over to a row of hideous purple dresses. I cover my mouth to hide my snicker at her obvious disappointment towards Klaus. "Besides every girl wants to go to her homecoming dance." Danny whispers more to herself than me. She's holding up a strapless pale pink dress making sure to smooth out any wrinkles that catches her eye. I cock my head to the side watching her chew her bottom lip as she contemplates something before she reluctantly puts the dress back. "On second thought, will you stay home with me tonight?" She asks turning watery eyes on me that she quickly wipes away replacing them with a beautiful smile. "We can have a girl's night. We still haven't watched the notebook yet!" She beams hustling over to me and practically dragging me out of the store as she avoids the rest of the dresses. "Come on; let's hit the movie hut before we go for snacks." I let Danny lead me away from the store and down the street. I know what she wants to avoid just like I know what I have to do.

"Rebekah pick up your damn phone!" I growl tossing the useless device onto the bed when I receive her voice mail again. I've been trying to reach her for over an hour and to say I'm a little frustrated would be an understatement.

"Alba, I can't do this!" Danny yells breathlessly from the bathroom where she has been for the past twenty minutes. "I'm just going to stay home."

"Danny just come out and let me see…please!" I beg as I belly flop onto the bed and bury my head in a pillow. After Danny and I got home I made the excuse that Caroline needed my help decorating for the dance which in reality meant I went back to the dress shop. I knew the dress when I saw it and I couldn't stop myself from buying it. This is no longer my night, it's Danny's.

"Alba," I jump up when I hear Danny whisper my name. She's standing in the doorway looking unsure as she fidgets with the hem of her dress. She looks breathtaking as the pink material brings out her rosy cheeks and makes her pale skin look flattering in the sunlight. The sweetheart neckline gives her just enough lift to make her look like a lady as the skirt flares around her legs when she twirls. I see she's put on just a dash of make-up and soft curls spill from her pony tail in the back. The dress fits her snugly and covers all the light bruising that mars her skin. For tonight she looks like a woman and it has me drawing back in surprise. "Oh my god is it that bad!?" Danny yells instantly jumping to the wrong conclusion. "That's it I'm not going." She spins around in hopes of running to the bathroom, but she collides with my chest instead.

"Danny…" I hold her shoulders to keep her steady as I look her in the eyes. "You look beautiful; absolutely gorgeous." I smile and shake my head in disbelief. "God you look like a little woman!" I laugh when Danny looks down in embarrassment.

"Are you sure I look okay?" She mumbles uncertainty still clouding her voice. I roll my eyes as I spin her around and lead her to the mirror.

"Look at you Danny," I say lifting her chin so she can stare at her reflection. "I have never seen anyone look as pretty as you do." I grin when her eyes widen in surprise before a soft smile turns up her lips. She looks genuinely happy right now and I wouldn't have it any other way. "Come on Cinderella we are going to be late for the dance." I nudge her shoulder as I hand her the flats I picked out at the store.

"What do you mean!? You aren't ready yet!" She gestures to my jeans, lavender tank top, and grey pullover I'm wearing in panic. I laugh and shake my head as I pull her to the stairs.

"I am ready and we are late. Rebekah is going to murder us," I sigh already imaging the smug smile the original will be wearing on my arrival.

"But Alba where is your dress?" Danny pouts as I shove her to the car.

"I don't like dresses you know that Danny. Besides I always like to be prepared and fighting in a dress might prove to be rather difficult." I reason sliding behind the wheel and revving the car's engine.

"But you won't have to fight! It's a dance!" Danny fires back surprising me with her argument.

"We are in Mystic Falls; a dance is never just a dance." I grumble pulling out of the drive as my phone starts to ring. "Danny will you grab that please." I watch her mumble something under her breath as she clicks the receive button.

"Hello," she sulks to the person on the other end.

"Oh my god this is a disaster!" I roll my eyes as Caroline's voice fills the receiver. She sounds panicked.

"Caroline, what's wrong?" Danny asks concern lacing her voice as her earlier frustration fades. I smile at how selfless Danny can be.

"The gym is flooded and now the dance is being moved to Tylers! Nothing is turning out right!" I furrow my brows when I hear the location the dance is moving. I feel the familiar twinge in my gut that something isn't right.

"Oh my goodness! It will be alright Caroline; Alba and I are on our way there now! We can help you with anything you need!" I groan loudly as Danny swats me on the arm and gives me a reprimanding look.

"Oh thank god! Just get here fast!" Caroline yells as she hangs up the phone.

"Well I guess we are going to Tyler's house then." Danny smiles not the least bit deterred that this night is already looking grim. I nod silently paying attention to the road and my gut that won't stop churning.

We arrive at Tyler's less than twenty minutes later and to say I'm surprised by what I see would be an understatement.

"Wow," Danny coos in awe leaning forward in her seat to get a better view of the party raging outside. "I don't think Caroline needs our help after all." She says unbuckling her seat belt and adjusting her dress. I only nod in agreement as we climb out and make our way up the drive. "Where is that music coming from?" Danny questions as we stop just inside the doorway of the mansion. I don't answer her as I scan the room judging all the bodies crowded around. Not one person looks familiar and I'm pretty sure I know why.

"Who are all these people?" I vaguely hear Bonnie ask as her and Caroline come to stand beside us. She too is looking around in suspicion as the electricity in the air begins to tingle.

"We were wondering the same thing," I say looking to her with a raised eyebrow as Caroline stands on her tip toes to get a better view.

"This is weird! Where is Tyler?" She huffs as another nameless face shoulder checks her on his way inside.

"Danny stay with Bonnie," I mumble absentmindedly as I make my way through the crowd. There are people everywhere; some older than others as they dance and drink to the music. I manage to make it to the garden where even more people linger and I find the source of the music. I wade into the mass of bodies careful to keep my eye on everyone around me. I hear heartbeats with some and silence with others. Add the fact, that these people with no heartbeats are walking around like they are on a mission, I can only assume one person is behind this.

"Having a good time love?" I chuckle to myself as the sultry British accent I've come to know tickles my ear.

"I would be having a better time, if I had a drink." I tease spinning around only to find no one behind me. "Huh," I shrug turning back around intent on finding Danny, but I find Klaus instead with a drink in his hand.

"You have a taste for the hard stuff if I remember correctly," Klaus grins handing me a red solo cup that I accept with gratitude.

"That I do," I nod taking a long sip savoring the bitter taste. It gives me enough time to look Klaus over in his black dress pants, crisp white shirt, and black blazer. Dressy, but casual at the same time making him even more appealing. If only he wasn't a jackass. "What's with the party?" I ask narrowing my eyes in suspicion when he laughs in amusement.

"Didn't Rebekah tell you? Our father has finally been disposed of, this isn't a party, it's a wake." He smiles happily for once, like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders.

"How? And where is Rebekah?" I ask this whole thing leaving an uneasy feeling in my stomach.

"Well I was hoping you could tell me where Rebekah has gone off to and it seems Elena dagger ed my father." As Klaus says this I can see his smile slip and the charade fall as his real motives come out to play. He was just testing me and I passed.

"I haven't seen her since this morning when she said she had business to take care of. As for the doppelgänger plunging a dagger in the Original vampire hunter, I will have to call bullshit. Something else is going on and I'm assuming you know that as well or else you wouldn't have your hybrids crawling all over the place." I cross my arms and ignore the impressed chuckle that leaves his plump lips as I do a head count.

"I can't sneak anything passed you, can I?" He muses taking a small step closer to me. "Where's your dress darling? It is homecoming." He smirks, thinking to himself before continuing. "Though you do look gorgeous in everything you wear." I purse my lips a retort on the tip of my tongue when Danny comes into view drawing my attention away from Klaus.

"Alba! Isn't this party awesome!?" She gushes running over to my side oblivious to Klaus as he takes a step away.

"It's something alright and where is Bonnie? You were supposed to stay with her." I ask darkly wondering where that little witch could have run off to. But then I scold myself for leaving Danny with them in the first place.

"Don't be mad at Bonnie, she had other things on her mind." Danny sings jumping around to the music. I've never seen her so bubbly in my life and then it hits me.

"Danny did someone give you a drink?" I ask in shock as I hear Klaus begin to laugh next to us.

"Oh my god Klaus!" She hollers throwing herself into his arms in a very un-Danny like fashion. "When did you get here?" She sings tightening her hold on him as he carefully wraps his arms around her.

"I never left sweetheart," he laughs setting her down. I watch her wobble on her feet before Klaus and I each grab one of her elbows. I look to him over her head in anger as he looks like he's about to laugh his ass off.

"Klaus, do you think I look pretty?" Danny asks playing with her dress and making it fly dangerously high above her knees.

"Danny!" I hiss quick to yank her dress down before anyone has time to see her.

"I think you look stunning Danny." Klaus surprises me by the sincerity in his voice and the fondness in his eyes when he looks at her.

"Do you think Alba looks stunning?" She starts to slur as she leans on Klaus a little more heavily. I bend down to get a better look at Danny as I take her face in my hands. She looks drunk off her ass.

"No." I smooth Danny's cheek ignoring the Original's blunt response. "I think Alba is beyond words." He answers making me cast a curious glance up at him. He couldn't look more serious as he lets his words sink in.

"Alba tell him you think he looks handsome," Danny whispers in my face; the stench of alcohol wafting off her breath. I roll my eyes as Danny becomes more persistent sending less than subtle glances to the smirking hybrid.

"Klaus," I sigh coming to a stand so I can look him in the eye. "You look very…" I pause, thinking about what I want to say as Klaus looks on smugly. "Devious tonight." I grin brightly as Danny sighs loudly in annoyance and Klaus just chuckles.

"You are hopeless," Danny mutters palming her forehead before swaying once again on her feet. I watch as Klaus effortlessly swings Danny off her feet into his arms while she squeals in delight.

"Aw come on now love no one is hopeless," Klaus smiles though his eyes hold a more serious emotion. "Now I think it's time for you to go to sleep." He compels Danny before I have time to stop him.

"Klaus what the hell!?" I growl moving forward to snatch Danny, who is now snoring softly in his arms. But he's quick to step away from me while he sends me a dangerous look.

"I wouldn't try it love," He narrows his eyes as one of his hybrids come to stand by his side; a boy no older than twenty with sandy blonde hair and dark brown eyes. "Nelson would you please take Ms. Martinez up to one of the guest rooms and make sure no one gets inside." Klaus commands handing Danny over as the veins under my eyes bulge. Klaus just smiles in amusement like he's dealing with a child instead of me; I would love nothing more than to put him in his place. "Now now sweetheart let's not be hasty, I would hate to have to kill you." He answers dangerously low making me scoff.

"That's cute Klaus; I bet next you're going to tell me you took Danny up there for her own safety." I chuckle to myself as I rub my forehead in anger. "No you want my help and you took Danny as leverage so what's it going to be tonight Klaus?" I finally look at him as I let him know this is not okay and anything I felt for him just died. He sports a mix of angry and ashame, but his determination overshadows all of that.

"I need you to keep an eye on the doppelgänger."

"I'm sorry I don't think I heard that right, did you say you want me to play babysitter to the doppelgänger?" I interrupt him my sarcastic self-returning with full force. "Because that would be a hell no."

"Alba," Klaus pauses his jaw clenching as he takes a deep breath. "This is not a suggestion, love. If you want no harm to come to Danny you will do as I say when I say it." This makes me laugh which only makes Klaus even more furious.

"What makes you think I won't go up there right now, rip that little hybrids heart out, and take Danny away from here?" I snarl getting in Klaus's face so he knows just who he is messing with. However I'm blindsided a second time tonight as my back is suddenly slammed into a tree away from the party.

"I'm sorry I didn't want to have to resort to this," Klaus grits before holding my face in place with one of his hands. "You will do exactly as I say and keep watch over the doppelgänger tonight. You will obey me when I ask it of you." He finishes his pupils dilating one last time before he releases me. I can't say anything as I run over what just happened. Klaus, the evil hybrid that took me to Greece, just tried to compel me to be one of his minions. I don't think Klaus expects the fist I land into the right side of his face nor does he anticipate the knee I smash into his stomach.

"I don't mean to sound cliché about this," I remark dodging Klaus as he runs at me in his vampire speed, "but who do you think you are messing with?" I place my hands on my hips in classic pissed of girl fashion as Klaus whirls around in anger. "I am not Stefan, I am not one of your sired hybrids, I am a fucking force to be reckoned with and guess what? You just pissed me off." I glare not the least bit afraid that I just angered the Original vampire that also happens to be a werewolf.

"Klaus!" The tension in the air thickens as a guy runs up interrupting us. I can only assume it to be one of his hybrids as he bares his fangs once he sees me.

"Try me, bitch!" I growl flashing my own fangs.

"Enough," Klaus barks turning his attention to the hybrid. "What is it, Tony?"

"You have a visitor."

"Well, tell my visitor I'm a little busy here." Klaus breathes glancing at me probably to make sure I'm still here.

"He said his name is Mikael." The hybrid responds not surprising me nor Klaus. I exhale a long breath as I straighten my shoulders ready to go to battle.

"Klaus I'm-" before I can finish my sentence I feel a sharp pain in the back of my head before everything fades to black.

Klaus's POV

"Rebekah, where are you? Pick up the phone, darling. Daddy is dead. It's time for a family reunion." I hang up the phone as I leave another message on her voice mail. I quickly flip through my contacts and dial the one number I've been trying to reach since last night. I listen as it rings before I receive her voice mail as well.

"This is Alba; leave a message if you must." I chuckle lightly at her bored tone. I left her in the woods last night after I knocked her out. My impulsiveness got the best of me once again and by the time I realized my mistake she was gone.

"Alba, love, you can't stay mad at me forever. You and I have some unfinished business and I will come to collect." I finish hanging up before my phone starts to vibrate with another call. "Stefan! Miss me already?" I grin as I pass an elderly couple on the street.

"I'm just calling to thank you for my freedom." Stefan says surprising me with his words.

"Oh, I like to believe I'm a man of my word, more or less." I laugh enjoying where this is going. Stefan is obviously not pleased with me.

"Thing is, it came at too high of a price. You took everything from me, Klaus."

"Let bygones be bygones, trust me. Resentment gets old." I tell him coming up to the moving truck. It's time to awaken the family.

"You know what never gets old?" Stefan remarks as I unlatch the lock and push the door open. "Revenge." I growl low in my throat as pure fury pumps through my veins at the empty truck.

"No." I snarl turning my back on the truck.

"What's the matter, Klaus? Missing something?" Stefan chides making my blood boil. This little runt thinks he can play me like this.

"What are you doing?" I ask dangerously wondering if he knows the war he just created.

"Just enjoying my freedom." He answers smoothly making my jaw clench.

"I will kill you and everyone you've ever met!" I yell my anger getting the best of me. How dare he do this to me!?

"You do that and you will never see your family again…or Alba." That makes my undead heart clench.

"Where is she?" I ask calmly my breaths coming in ragged puffs.

"I have her in good hands," he says as the undeniable scream of Alba fills my ears making me gasp. "I wonder, Klaus, as someone who has been one step ahead for a thousand years- are you prepared for this?"

"Alllba, wake up." I feel someone nudge my foot as I open my eyes.

"Hmm," I lift my head a surge of pain coursing through me from where I was knocked out. "I'm going to kill that hybrid." I hiss looking around me taking in exactly where I am. It's small, dark, and smells like mold.

"You are finally awake. Good." I slide my eyes to the woman sitting in the corner. She's in the shadows shielding her face from my view. I try to move my hands only to find them restrained behind my back. "You can try all you want, but I put a special kind of magic on those just for you. I know what strength you possess." She remarks.

"Well done," I compliment her as I stop fighting. "Where am I and who the hell are you?' I ask in curiosity expecting something completely different from what she tells me.

"You are in a disclosed location and my identity will be revealed soon enough."

"Oh so mysterious," I reply sarcastically looking around for some sort of clue as to where I could be. I find nothing of use to me.

"You will do best to respect me little girl." The woman snaps standing from her chair coming into the light. She's an older lady in her late forties with greying hair and a large build. But there's no mistaken the power that wafts off of her letting me know she's a witch. A powerful one at that.

"That sounds like a challenge," I smirk not scared of this woman. However, I should have learned by now, not to underestimate anyone. Before I know it, she has dagger plunged into my stomach ripping a pain curdling scream from my lips. I stare down at my wound as blood gushes from the hole she left.

"I'm sorry I don't think I heard you correctly," she smiles sweetly before stabbing me once more.
