WE ARE NUMBER ONE! HEY! (NOW LISTEN CLOSELY!) And also maybe listen to Brighton Rock from Queen lol It might help. Also, smut ahead so there's your warning!
I complete my homework on Asav fairly quickly, and I'm less than happy regarding the whole situation as I discuss over Skype with Chloe for approximately an hour and a half. To me, Asav sounded like a manipulative little bitch that felt like playing God with people's lives. It was just utterly sad and angering to research and read so much about this man. A man that was working to become a doctor, instead becoming a leader of a rebellion and killing thousands of people in result.
"You alright, china? You sound more peeved than usual." Chloe asked.
"Sorry- -sorry. I'm just..." I sighed. "Fuck this Asav guy. I've never even fucking met him, and already I hate him."
"Oh trust me, love, we share the same goddamn feeling. Which is why I don't feel bad about any of this. We can't let him get to that Tusk now can we?" Chloe replied.
"No we fucking can't." I blurted out.
"You are REALLY throwing out the f-bombs today, aren't you? Stop researching Asav and take a damn break, china. I think you've earned yourself a nice hot shower, eh?" Chloe raised an eyebrow.
Through the video feed, I can see Chloe look at me with concern. Raking my hands through my hair, I can see Chloe's point as I feel the oils collecting in my hair.
"Yeah...you're not wrong. I think a shower would be the best thing. I've been up all night with this shit." I sighed.
"Listen, we've done a lot of homework and we're almost done with the planning. I think we deserve a little down time." Chloe told me.
"Yeah..."
"You booked that house in uh...where was it again...South Carolina? Just worry about that. Enjoy your two weeks off, darling. Our unfinished work will be here waiting for you, I'll keep you posted, okay? Now go and shoo." Chloe smiled.
"Alright." I give in. "Listen, don't do anything without talking to me, okay? Remember, this is a two way street. We're in this thing together."
Chloe gives me a knowing look as well as a playful roll of her eyes.
"Yes mom. I know. So with that in mind, go get your shower." Chloe said.
I end the call soon after that, and shut my laptop before I quickly go to hop in the shower and sigh happily as the hot water cascades down my body. I have music playing on through Bluetooth speakers, and hear Brighton Rock from Queen blaring on my thousands of songs in my downloaded Spotify music. It doesn't take long for me to sway to the beat and sing along.
I've been hearing a lot of Queen lately, man does that bring up some memories of the orphanage...the nuns fucking hated Queen. Almost forbade us from listening to it. Thought Freddie Mercury was a charlatan or...what was it? A harlot? Ha...I can't even remember now.
I lather shampoo in my thick hair, before moving underneath the showerhead to rinse off after a minute or so. Then, I feel something graze my shoulder and nearly freak out until I see Sam standing behind me. I take in his rugged appearance, the faded bruises and cuts, before finally it registers in my mind that he's back home. That's when I smile brightly and move to hug my fiancé.
Sam chuckles as I then move to jump on him, wrapping my legs around his waist and draping my arms around his neck. Sam's breath hitches as I lean in and press a hot kiss to his lips. He eagerly moves his lips against mine, slipping his tongue into my mouth as we kiss passionately. I can't help but moan breathlessly as Sam's fingers dig into my hips and pull back to kiss and bite along his neck.
"You miss me, baby girl?" Sam breathes out.
I can't help but shudder against him from the nickname, and from how low and husky his voice became. Sam still managed to make me hot and bothered for him in under five minutes. I begin to grind slowly into him, and he lets out a low guttural groan before he frees one hand to grab me by the chin and pull me in for another heated kiss. Before I know what's happening, my back hits the smooth tiled wall of the shower and a moan slips freely from my lips.
"Gotta be quiet, sweetheart. Anne's just down the hall." Sam muttered lowly.
I nod frantically before getting a firm handful of his hair, and pulling him back for another kiss. Sam reciprocates immediately and shudders against me as I tug at his hair. I nearly shout into his mouth as his fingers dance along my vaginal lips teasingly, but he's quick to silence me with another kiss. When the song finally ends, Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake is playing. I can't help but give Sam a smirk as he pulls back and stares at me.
"Interesting song choice you've got here." Sam commented.
"I like Justin, don't judge me." I chuckle.
Sam bites his bottom lip to stifle his laughter, before plunging two fingers into my mound. My eyes widen immediately as I bite back a moan, and let out a small whimper instead. My eyes flutter shut as Sam plays and stretches me, and immediately, I'm quick to turn off the shower as I hop off of Sam. Not caring that we're both soaked, I roughly move Sam out until we're in our bedroom and shove him onto our bed.
Sam looks at me with wide eyes, almost impressed with my strength as he leans up on his elbows to look at me with lustful eyes. I move slowly to the door, and lock it, making a show of it before I turn around and glance at Sam with a heated gaze. Sam gives me that charming and roguish smirk of his as he sits up on the edge of the bed. I swing my hips in a practiced and seductive manner that has him biting his bottom lip again. Thankfully, the loud music sounding from the bathroom covers up some of the noise we make as I straddle Sam's lap.
Another love song? I love Crazy On You from Heart.
"Jesus H. Christ." He groans against me.
I tease him as he'd done to me before, as I grind into his hard erection, and I can feel him run his hands over every smooth surface of my skin while his fingers trace over all my scars from previous adventures. I laugh as he flips us until he's sprawled on top of me, moving downwards and planting kisses to my thighs and waist. Then, I feel him pause as he's looking at my gunshot wound from Scotland. I'd recently gotten a tattoo to cover the scar, like I'd done with some of my other scars over the years. My newest tattoo is comprised of a compass and a small treasure map drawing, outlining the area of the St. Dismas Cathedral in Scotland, and including Avery's insignia. I'd gotten the tattoo finished about a week ago.
It was one of my favorites tattoos so far.
"Nice ink." Sam breathes out.
I smile down at Sam, but quickly grip at his hair again and tug until he's moving up and sliding his lips against mine as I grow impatient. I moan into his mouth as I maneuver my hand between us, and grip his erection. Sam pants lightly against me as I give a practiced roll of my wrist and pump his length. As Sam thrusts into my hand, I chuckle breathlessly before flipping us over again. I grab his cock and guide him into me, to which he bites down on my collarbone to stifle a moan.
As Sam eases me down onto him, he's leaving a trail of hickeys down my breasts before trailing his lips up to my neck and earlobe. I melt against Sam as his moves his hand down and plays with my clit. I gasp against Sam as we both begin to thrust to the beat of the song, and my arms wrap around Sam before I rake my nails down his back. Sam moans into my ear as he gently flicks his fingers at my clit, taking my earlobe into his mouth and nibbling. After another minute, he flips us over once again, maneuvering us so that my legs are over his shoulders as his thrusts become more desperate, reaching parts of me that have my toes curling in sheer pleasure and ecstasy.
I pull my hand to my mouth and stifle my moans as I bite down on my finger. I can already feel myself closer to the brink of an orgasm as Sam plows into me roughly. His pace never wavers, even as I feel myself tighten around him. Sam just lets out a low growl and pounds into me faster and harder before moving down to mutter dirty things into my ear.
"Y'like that, sweetheart? Don't worry, you're almost there. I can feel it." Sam growled lowly.
Finally, Sam has me flipped over, pulling my back to his chest as he tries something new and wraps a hand around my throat. I shudder and melt into him as his hand gently squeezes and cuts off my air.
"C'mon, baby. Almost there...I know you can do it." Sam mutters.
I feel breathless and whine softly as I reach my orgasm fairly quickly, coming harder than I ever had in years. Sam presses kisses to the side of my face, whispering words of encouragement as he continues to thrust into me through the duration of my orgasm. Sam spills into me just after a few more hard thrusts, and I relish in the post orgasmic bliss for another minute or two. Then, Sam slowly pulls out and lies onto his back as his breathing slowly returns to normal.
It takes my mind a few minutes to catch up, but I finally open my eyes to find that we're under the covers, and I find myself tucked against Sam as my head rests along his chest. Sam's got a cigarette lit with the window next to the bed cracked open. The cool summer breeze fills the bedroom in a matter of seconds. I can't help but melt against Sam as I take the lit cigarette from his lips and inhale some smoke.
"What a welcome home." Sam chuckles huskily.
I can't help but smile I crane my neck to look up at him. He's looking down at me with a faint but warm smile as well.
"What can I say? My toys weren't doing it for me. I missed the real thing." I replied cheekily.
Sam chuckles again as he takes his cig back, and exhales smoke to the side and out the window. Sam presses a loving kiss to my temple as his arm around my shoulders tightens just slightly.
"I missed you so much." Sam breathes out.
"Trust me, the feeling is mutual." I muttered. "I'm just glad you're back home. Why didn't you text or call me?"
"I wanted it to be a surprise. Which you were." Sam smirked.
Minutes pass as we fall into a comfortable silence, and Sam puts out his cigarette.
"How's Anne? She just got out of school right?" Sam asked.
"Yup. As of two weeks ago, she's off for summer vacation." I replied.
"And how have you been? Find any work? Or are you taking some much needed time off?" Sam glances down at me. "Your wounds are nearly gone."
"Well, I mean..."
I sit up, pulling the covers up my chest as I grin at Sam.
"Since Libertalia and cashing in all that treasure that I stuffed into my pockets, and my satchel...I kinda made a lot of cash since I have the right connections." I confessed. "And by a lot, I mean a hell of a lot."
Sam perks up at this and also sits up in his spot.
"How much are we talkin' here?" Sam raised an eyebrow.
"About a million." I answered.
Sam's eyes widened almost drastically.
"Dollars?"
"You got it." I winked.
"Holy goddamn shit!" Sam breathed out. "Tara, we could fucking retire with that money! Give Anne a good chunk of it for school! We'd be set for years!"
"You think I don't know that?" I chuckled. "But we both love working too much to retire, so in the meantime..."
"I know that little look on your face...what're you planning?" Sam smirked.
"I'm thinking that maybe...you, me, and Annie could go on a little vacation of sorts..." I suggested. "Since we're both not doing anything right now."
Before Sam gets to say anything else, I cut him off as I put my finger on his lips.
"I know you don't really like resting up, but that's why I'm thinking we all go away for only two weeks. Just the three of us. And maybe Elena, Nate and Sully if they wanna come."
Sam gently takes ahold of my hand and presses a light kiss to the back of it. He's already giving me that little knowing look of his.
"You've already booked something haven't you?"
"Yeah..." I smile sheepishly.
"Come on, out with it." Sam teases lightly.
"I booked a beach house in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina...big enough for all of us to have our own rooms...right along the beach..." I confessed.
Sam's face lights up as he pulls me in for a kiss.
"Two weeks huh? With all of us together? Sounds like a fun getaway." Sam hums against me.
"And by the time we get back, I already have a job set up for the both of us." I assured him.
Sam pauses and glances at me with complete surprise.
"Wait seriously?" Sam blurts out.
"An old friend of Nathan and I...Chloe Frazer, needs help with finding and locating the Tusk of Ganesh. But it's pretty damn risky...sounds like a perfect job for a certain someone I know, recently out of prison- -" I smiled.
Sam finally bursts out laughing, looking more joyful than ever over a find like the Tusk of Ganesh. Sam seems more than excited for a job like this and shows it as he passionately kisses me.
"I could just kiss you forever!" Sam shouts happily. "And you're coming too, right?"
I give him a firm nod.
"Yeah, I'm gonna talk to Elena and see if Anne can stay with her while we're gone. But...I've missed it. After Libertalia, I thought it was over too but..."
"Hey. You've got nothin' to be ashamed about, doll-face." Sam gives me a small smile. "If this is what you love doin', don't stop."
"It is something I love. Not just the adventure...but the discovery, y'know?" I mumbled softly. "I know I promised myself I wouldn't do this shit anymore because of Anne, but...you and Nate reminded me how much I missed it. I had to build up the courage to say yes to Chloe."
I quickly change the subject before I get carried away or emotional, and focus on the job itself. I can tell that Sam notices the slight change of my mood, because he knows how sore of a subject all of this is for me, so thankfully he doesn't comment on it.
"But about this job...well, here's where the tricky part comes in. There's a war criminal after it too...a man named Asav."
"Okay." Sam nods.
"Chloe and I have been trying to figure out how to pull one over this guy. Which is when I figured out a way...I might go in and pretend to be an expert of sorts, and stall Asav for a couple of weeks until Chloe and a partner, perhaps you, can locate the Tusk of Ganesh before Asav figures anything out." I explained.
For the next minute or so, I find myself growing a bit unnerved underneath Sam's gaze. Sam looks deep into thought, as he mulls over my words. When he notices the look on my face, he's quick to reassure me with a kiss to my forehead.
"Only problem with that, I don't want you anywhere near this Asav guy. If he's as dangerous as he sounds, it's gonna be a little tougher than you think. I know you're pretty convincing with your acting, but something like this might require more finesse. How about I go reach out to Asav and you stick with Chloe?" Sam suggested.
As much as I want to argue with Sam, I actually find reasoning within his words and nod in agreement.
Sam always was the charmer...was always good with words much more than I am.
"I'll let Chloe know later. For now, let's get ready. I've gotta clean the house." I said.
I get out of bed, going through my dresser as I pick out underwear and clothing for the day. I hear Sam whistle at me as I slip on a white sun dress that Chloe had gifted me recently, one that hugged my curves right. It honestly felt like the perfect day to wear it with the nice summer weather.
"And what, pray tell, are we getting ready for sweetheart?" Sam asked.
"Well I invited Nathan, Elena, and Sully for dinner. To tell them the big news...we've got only a day or two before we leave for the beach, so that'll be a fun surprise for everyone." I smirked. "Plus I was kinda hoping that we could...tell everyone about our engagement."
"Oh...right...fuck me, I completely forgot." Sam sighed.
Sam chuckles as he also gets out of bed, and pulls on some pants.
"Y'know...it kinda already feels like we're married." Sam smiled.
I can't help but return the smile.
"You're right." I mumble softly.
I gently tug on Sam's hand before he moves to put on his shirt, and hug him as my head falls to his chest. Sam is quick to return the hug, and slowly sways with me.
"What are your thoughts on this engagement?" I asked.
"What? Like second doubts or somethin'? Not even one." Sam chuckled.
When I pull back, I shake my head and playfully punch his chest.
"I'm thinking... we skip the wedding bullshit." I suggest.
Sam glances at me with surprise, and for a minute, he looks completely relieved.
Holy shit, so I'm not the only one thinking this? Oh thank God...
"You're not just saying that for my benefit are ya?" Sam raised an eyebrow.
"Nah, I don't need to wait another year or two for something we've both been wanting for a long time. So what do you say? We get married, go on our vacation and honeymoon in one trip?" I smirked.
"God damn do I love the way you think." Sam commented. "Fuck yeah. Let's do it. Tie the knot, make it all official. Let's go to the fuckin' courthouse right now! You said we've got our marriage license. They allow walk-in's right?"
I can't help but giggle at Sam's enthusiasm and nod my head frantically. Sam suddenly pauses mid rant, and frowns.
"Wait, what about Anne? Do we...leave her here? Bring her with us? I kinda...I'd like to bring her if you don't mind." Sam barely uttered.
My heart nearly melts at the look on Sam's face, and I give him another nod.
"Get dressed, wear something nice. I'll go get Anne." I told him. "Plans have changed for today!"
"Yes ma'am." Sam smirked.
It was the last thing I expected myself to be doing, marrying Sam on the day of his return from Portugal. As I slip into Anne's room, I find her typing away on her laptop with some earbuds plugged in. When she notices me, she nearly does a double take and takes out her earbuds as she asks where the hell I'm going. That's when Sam steps inside the room, looking more dressed up than usual. He's wearing a black button up shirt with a small bowtie, and some black pants.
Anne merely stares at Sam in surprise before she jumps from her bed to go hug her father when she sees that he's come back home. It's honestly adorable and funny at how long it takes for Anne to put two and two together. Anne's eyes widen when she finally processes what the two of us are dressed up for, and she squeals like an eager child being told they're going to fucking Disney World. It honestly shocks me at how quickly Sam and Anne bonded, and how the two grew on each other in such a short amount of time, but I can't bring myself to care. I was elated and over the moon as we ask Anne to be at our small courthouse wedding.
From there, Sam and I dial both Nathan and Elena on our cellphones, telling them to meet us at the courthouse although they don't know why. As much as I'd wanted Chloe to be there, I knew I'd have a story to tell her very soon. Within a short hour or so, Nathan and Elena manage to get out of work for the day, their newly bought company from Jameson, and meet us at the courthouse. Currently, we wait to get married in a short line, and after spotting Nate and Elena, we wave them over to us.
"Okay, I'll bite what're we doing here...Oh. My. God!" Nate's eyes widened. "What the hell, Sam?! Tara?! Why didn't you guys say anything?!"
"It was a little...last minute, but we wanted you two to be here to be our witnesses." Sam replied. "So, how do I look little brother?"
"Like a million bucks, but what the actual hell Sam?"
"We didn't want a big wedding and thought this was the fastest- -" Sam chuckled.
"When did you get the marriage license?" Elena interjects with a knowing look.
Sam and I exchange a look as well as a devious smile.
"About uh...a couple of weeks ago..." Sam answered.
Finally, Elena cracks a smile before full out grinning at the two of us not even seconds later. She seems to be taking the news more better than Nathan was.
"So you two have been planning this out and hiding it from us...I'm kinda impressed you didn't say anything, Tara." Elena chuckled.
Believe me, I'm impressed with myself too, it took everything within me not to.
"Well, we didn't really have the time to announce our engagement with Anne's birthday and Sam leaving with Sully for Portugal...I mean, he just got back home today." I admitted. "Plus I've been doing some side work."
At this, Elena and Nathan look at us in surprise.
"And you honestly couldn't have waited for something as big as this?" Nathan blurted out. "What the hell?"
"Nathan Drake, if you say what the hell one more time, I'll kick your ass." I threatened.
Sam puts a hand on my arm, and I immediately calm down before letting out a deep sigh as he approaches his brother.
"Look, Nate. Tara and I...we've been crazy about each other for years and clearly that hasn't changed." Sam mutters. "We've waited long enough, don't you think?"
At this, Nathan looks almost sheepish and guilty as he folds his arms and nearly pouts like a child.
"Yeah well...you guys could have said something." Nate grumbles.
"We wanted this to be a happy surprise for everyone and skip the wedding bullshit... but you're right." I said. "We should've told you two sooner. You guys are family."
"Ahem." Anne clears her throat loudly.
"Yeah, I know. I should've told you sooner. I'm sorry I kept getting sidetracked, honey." I smiled at Anne sheepishly.
"That's better." Anne looks pleased with herself.
"I can't believe this is actually happening. The day that Theresa Walker finally tied the knot with someone." Elena sighed happily.
Elena nudges Nathan with her elbow, and he's finally quick to perk up.
"Listen, I'm really happy for you guys, don't get me wrong. It's just a little short notice is all." Nate said. "You guys have my blessing or whatever."
Sam and I can't help but chuckle at this as we both pull Nathan in for a hug. It takes a few seconds, until his arms slowly move around us and he's returning it wholeheartedly.
"Thank you...for coming." Sam mumbled. "It means a lot to us."
Nathan finally cracks a grin and playfully shoves his brother and I back.
"Samuel Drake and Theresa Walker?" Someone calls out.
Everyone perks up as we're the only five people left in the entire room. Immediately Sam and I loop our arms together as we provide our information and marriage license, and then, time seems to blur. Time moves extremely slowly from the moment we enter the courtroom, but things seem to happen too quickly at the same time. I can already feel my heart pounding and hear my heartbeat resonate loudly in my eardrums.
Sam's hand remains intertwined with mine the entire time, and I can feel him rub small circles with his thumb. Despite standing tall, he looks just as nervous yet excited as I do. It felt completely surreal as we pulled out our wedding rings, the one that Sam had gifted to me in Libertalia, and also...the one that he saved before his supposed death in Panama. In return for this occasion, I'd secretly made his ring out of the gold coins of the Libertalia currency with Sir Francis Drake's motto: Sic Parvis Magna engraved on top of the ring.
As we gifted our rings to each other, Sam looked absolutely over the moon when I told him how special his ring was and what it meant to me during our vows. Glancing over at Nathan, I could see him begin to grow emotional as he stood by Sam's side, something that was extremely rare from the man and something the younger Drake brother most likely deny if you'd ask him later. I can hear Anne sniffling next to Elena, trying to keep her tears at bay, as Elena just let the tears flow freely and smiles warmly at the entire scene playing out before her.
Once Elena and Nate sign the documents with us, being our two witnesses, our marriage is finalized by the judge. I'm no longer just Theresa Walker, but Theresa W. Drake. Turning back towards each other again, our surroundings seem to fade into nothing, until it's just the two of us standing here together. Sam looked so happy, happier than I'd seen him since King's Bay when we'd discovered the location of Libertalia and proving that the colony existed.
I can hardly even imagine how much of a wreck I must appear to be considering I was just as emotional, but Sam's smile is so infectious that I can't help but return it enthusiastically. When we share a kiss, bound together through holy matrimony and all that, I feel at peace for the first time in my life. It's completely amazing that something I'd fantasized as a young teen was finally becoming reality. I can feel Sam return the kiss with much love poured into it.
The night ends up with a lot of partying back at a restaurant that was just a couple of blocks from the courthouse, and much to his confusion, we invite Sullivan to come considering I'd invited him over to my house for dinner anyway. Dinner was fun and much more relaxed than earlier at the courthouse, and for obvious reasons. I'm completely elated as I show off my rings to Anne and Elena, both of whom completely gush over the proposal as I go over it in detail. I'd taken a polaroid photo of the very spot Sam proposed to me at, with Avery's ship The Fancy, just being in the background which I'd kept with me in my wallet.
"What am I meeting you guys here for?" Sullivan asked. "You didn't exactly tell me over the phone, kiddo."
Sully gives Nathan a confused look, to which the Drake replies with a smirk after gesturing back over to Sam with his thumb.
"Go ask your latest partner." Nathan said.
I see Sullivan and pull away from the girls to go hug and greet him just as Sam comes over.
"Hey Victor, glad you could make it. I grabbed you a beer." Sam smiled.
Ha, I don't think I've ever seen Sam be so nice to Victor before. I'm sure he's so fucking confused.
Sam hands over a beer bottle, which Sullivan reluctantly takes from the older Drake.
"What's the uh...special occasion?" Sullivan hesitantly questioned.
Sam and I show Victor our hands, rings out on display. Victor nearly spits out his drink in complete shock.
"Holy goddamned shit!" Sully blurted out.
Nathan is the first to laugh at Sullivan's reaction before he glances over at his wife and playfully nudges her with his arm.
"Wish you had your camera for that." Nathan mutters.
Elena chuckles and punches her husband's shoulder before whispering into his ear.
"You wanna tell them? Now?" Nathan perked up.
"Might as well, right?" Elena mumbled softly. "It's a good occasion as any."
"Tell us what?" Anne raised an eyebrow.
Elena and Nate move forward, hand in hand with huge grins on their faces.
"We're expecting." Elena told us.
At first, it doesn't completely register, especially as we look at the couple in confusion.
"Expecting what?" Sam blurted out.
Finally, the words begin to process into my brain and I'm the first to jump up and down with complete giddiness.
"Holy shit! Congrats!" I squealed.
"Wait, what's happening?" Sully muttered.
I press two kisses on both of Elena's cheeks and hug her tightly before doing the same to Nathan.
"We're having a baby!" Nathan clarified.
That's when Anne, Sam, and Sullivan all look towards Nathan with wide owlish eyes.
"Oh." All three spoke in unison.
"Well shit!" Sam grinned. "More congrats are in order!"
Sam happily hugs his younger brother, more than eager about the news before going to embrace his sister-in-law as well.
"I've never hugged people so much in my entire life!" Anne commented. "Let's party already! I'm finally getting a cousin!"
By the end of the night, everyone is extremely happy as we all chat and celebrate for hours on end at the restaurant. I also bring up the beach house in South Carolina that I'd rented for two weeks for all of us, and out of everyone, Sullivan looks the most excited as he complains about needing a break. Nathan and Elena look just as happy, but Anne seems a little apprehensive regarding the idea. By the end of the night, Sam and I agree to let Anne bring one friend with her. So by the time we get home, it's almost past midnight, and all three of us are exhausted as we come barreling through the front door.
"Oh I'm so glad you have your learner's permit. Otherwise we'd have to leave the car there..." I sigh in relief.
"Yeah, me too." Anne smiled. "Man, you two are plastered."
"Oh, this is nothin' sweetheart. Y'should have seen your ma and I when we were younger!" Sam slurred.
"Haaaaaa. You're right." I giggled. "Especially in our twenties!"
"Off to bed with you two." Anne told me.
Sam giggles, and I can't help but laugh at how adorable my husband is as I lean into him. Sam wraps an arm around my waist as we drunkenly maneuver through the halls and make it to our bedroom. I land on the bedsheets with a soft bounce, thankful that I had changed them before we had left for the courthouse. Sam lands next to me, planting kisses along my neck and shoulder before Anne knocks on the doorframe to make herself known.
Anne has two bottles of water, with something else in her palm which I discover is aspirin. She's quick to put them on the nightstand to the right of our bed, and I'm quick to get up from bed as I hug Anne and thank her. Sam follows my example, and we have a small group hug with our baby girl. Anne laughs at the sudden attention from her parents as she tries to wiggle from our grasp.
"We looooove you, baby!" I sang.
"So much!" Sam joins in.
"So very much!" I added.
"You guys are piss drunk! Go sleep it off already!" Anne chuckled.
The night ends when Sam and I hit the bedsheets, after feeling much too exhausted to take off our clothes.
The next morning, Sam and I groan as we silently thank our daughter for the aspirin and water bottles. Last night is a bit of a blur, but with the rings on our finger, it's a huge reminder of what transpired yesterday. Sam and I greet each other with a loving kiss as we pick ourselves out of bed and change out of our clothes from yesterday, to put on something more casual and comfortable. We find Anne eating a bowl of cereal as she watches a cartoon on the couch, and I can't help but smile at the sight as I plant a kiss to the side of her head as I greet her.
"I'm honestly shocked that you two are up before noon." Anne spoke up.
"Good mornin' to you too, kiddo." Sam smirked.
As I get to the coffee machine, I already see a fresh pot already made, and look towards Anne's direction in surprise.
Okay, I love my daughter but she has been way too nice lately. Either she's in a good mood or something's on her mind...or she wants something.
I remain silent as I grab a coffee mug from the cabinet above me and grab the flavored creamer I bought within the week. Sam comes up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and planting kisses to the side of my neck as well as my shoulder. I can't help but melt against Sam and feel just a twinge of anxiety, as if at any moment, I'll wake up from this wonderful dream and see that Sam was still...dead. It's almost as if this is way too good to be true, and it seems to show in my body language as Sam turns me around and sees the look on my face.
"Hey. You alright, hon?" Sam asked concernedly.
I snap out of my daze, trying to keep my breathing even as I close my eyes and shake my head.
"S- -sorry. Sometimes...sometimes I feel like I'm just dreaming..." I mumbled softly.
I feel Sam pull me in towards him, as he embraces me. In his strong arms, I feel incredibly safe and warm. Already, I'm more at ease as he rubs circles into my back. I can't help but crack a smile at how comforting and thoughtful this man can be.
"Like this is too good to be true?" Sam guessed.
I pause as I process what Sam says to me, but I find myself nodding in agreement.
"Yeah, actually." I chuckle dryly.
Sam pulls back, giving me that devious little smirk on his face that shows he's almost always up to no good. I can already feel the butterflies swarming in my stomach and my face grow warm, an effect that Sam always had on me since we were young teens.
"I hate to break it to ya doll- face, but you're not gettin' rid of me for a long ass time." Sam teased.
I playfully punch Sam in the arm, and chuckle as he feigns a look of hurt.
"Ouch! Always hurting me!" Sam pouted.
I give Sam a peck on the lips, and immediately, he perks up as I move past him to make my cup of coffee. Grabbing a spoon from the drawer nearby the sink, I stir the creamer in my cup before raising the cup up to my lips and blowing on the warm beverage as I move to take a sip.
"Hey ma?" Anne calls out.
"Yeah, baby?" I respond.
"When are we leaving for the beach house? Tess wants to know if we're picking her up. Or should I just have her stay with us the night before so we can save the trip to her house?"
OH FUCK ME, I knew I forgot something!
I put my cup down on the table, and upon seeing the look on my face, Sam is already laughing at me. I give him a playful glare as I run out of the kitchen to grab my phone and check the confirmation date on the house. It was for tomorrow afternoon.
"Ah shit!" I shouted.
Searching online for plane tickets, I glance to see what's cheap and available, and sigh in relief when I find a good deal. Although we'd have to leave tonight in order to make it tomorrow morning. Immediately, I go back out to the living room, giving my daughter and husband a sheepish smile as I hide my phone behind my back.
"So uh...good news or bad news?" I asked sweetly.
Sam rolls his eyes and chuckles again, finding my behavior all too amusing.
"Bad news first, if you don't mind, dear." Sam smirked.
"So uh...bad news is that we kinda need our shit packed by tonight because the house is booked for tomorrow. Elena and Nate are gonna murder me. Good news is that I found us some cheap plane tickets online, a pretty good deal if I do say so myself. We just need to book a flight for tonight so we can be there by tomorrow morning." I confessed.
Sam and Anne exchange a look of surprise at how quickly I said all of this, and both bite on their bottom lip as if to stifle their laughter.
"Oh don't you two laugh at me! I suck at planning, okay?!" I whined.
"No! No, it's fine! Baby- -" Sam snickers.
"Oh don't you baby me!" I rolled my eyes. "Anne, please tell Tess I'm really sorry. I'll pay for her plane ticket."
Anne doesn't look up as she texts her best friend everything, probably nothing good I'm sure.
"Yeah, not a problem." Anne smirked. "I'll tell her she can come over later this afternoon. We can hang out and pack my shit together."
As I dial Nathan and Elena's house number, I can already feel myself preparing for the scolding that will more than likely take place.
Hours later, Sam and I spent most of the day doing laundry as we decide what we're bringing with us. On the side, I get some other work done around the house and also call Chloe to talk to her about Sam joining us. She seems pretty pleased with my idea of stalling Asav as a fake expert on the Tusk. I grab a joint as I Skype her and move to the deck as I converse with her.
When I tell Chloe what happened yesterday, she looks at me with wide eyes. She thinks I jumped the gun on marrying Sam yesterday, but she offers me a congrats anyway. I can tell Chloe is just more surprised than anything else, but she doesn't really voice her opinion. She's pretty quick to change the subject after I tell her the big news and we talk about the job some more.
"So we're one step closer to putting everything into motion." Chloe smiled.
I inhale some more smoke, and kick back on a lounging chair nearby.
"Finally." I chuckled.
Chloe has a notebook in front of her as she scribbles something down.
"We just need one more person with us. Someone who's got experience dealing with mercenaries and knows how they think. Someone who can hold their own in a fight and haul ass if needed." Chloe muses aloud.
"Are you coming up with a dating profile or are we looking for another partner?" I joked.
"Sorry. You know how I get." Chloe chuckled. "I'm sure I'll find someone by the time you get back from your little 'vacation'."
"Man...I haven't been on a vacation in years...like an actual trip that wasn't just for a job."
We're interrupted as the sliding glass door opens and out comes Sam. Sam looks amused as he sees me with a joint and holds out his hand expectantly. I roll my eyes and give him my joint, only to see him smoke it as well and not scold me like I half expected him to. He plops down right next to me in my lounging chair and glances at my phone to see Chloe on the screen.
"So you must be Samuel Drake. I'm Chloe." Chloe smirked.
"Ah...the infamous Chloe." Sam chuckled. "So you guys going over the job?"
"I'm sorry, I'm just a little excited to start this thing." I blushed.
"I can tell." Sam teased.
Sam hands me back my joint as he glances back into the house. Luckily there was no sign of Anne or her friend Tess, as she had yet to arrive. Sam visibly relaxes and leans back as he stares back at Chloe through my phone.
"So, how's everything looking? Tara said you guys were looking for another person?" Sam brought up.
"Yeah. I'll probably have someone in mind by the time you two return from your trip. Hopefully anyway..."
"It'd be nice to have an extra set of eyes and ears." Sam hums thoughtfully.
"Exactly, darling." Chloe nods. "Can't be too careful against a man like Asav."
"So the Tusk of Ganesh. It was something your old man was after?" Sam questioned.
Chloe shifted uncomfortably at the mention of her father, but for the most part, she answers honestly. I was pretty impressed with how quickly she opened up about the sore subject.
"Oh don't get me started...but...long story short, he was obsessed with finding it." Chloe answered. "I'm hoping we'll catch onto his trail fairly soon."
"How has your research been going?" I add.
"It's going..." Chloe sighed. "Hopefully we can all meet up after your trip, eh? Go over some of my research? I won't lie, it's a lot to process."
"Of course." I nodded. "Yeah, Sam's got a really good eye when it comes to his research. My expertise solely relies on pirates throughout history...courtesy of my parents. And a little bit of Sir Francis Drake, but only because of Nathan and Sam."
I can't help but let out an awkward little chuckle as I say this.
"That is so sweet. I'm honestly flattered." Sam winked at me.
After one last inhale, I pass my joint to Sam as I resist the urge to cough up the smoke and slowly exhale through my nose in a practiced manner. Sam takes one last hit before he gently stubs the end of the joint on the ash tray to put it out.
"You two are something else." Chloe smiled. "You better share some of that when we're together."
"Of course." I grinned deviously. "Now...continue."
FLASH!
"You need to relax, doll face. I've got this covered." Sam smirked.
I can't help but roll my eyes as I watch Sam pick the lock to the door. He was working for a client that wanted some valuable trinket from the sixteenth century. So while Nathan was by himself in the motel, I was here helping Sam complete the job. Already, I regretted coming along because I couldn't help but feel anxiety gnawing away at my stomach. I was just thankful no guards had come our way yet, since we were technically in a museum of sorts.
"Telling me to relax is easier said than done." I grumbled.
Before I can say or do anything else, I hear the click sound from the door and turn around just in time to see Sam standing back up as he opens the door. The man that owned the museum, was nothing but rich, and from the collectables in his own office, it showed nothing but his wealth. Sam's smirk does not fade even once as he glances back at me and waltzes around the large office. I glance out the tall and clear windows to stare at the moon, and around October, it was an almost dark yellow in color.
"You okay there, babe?" Sam chuckled.
I'm startled as I feel a firm poking on my shoulder and turn to see Sam holding out a flash light for me. I huff angrily as I take the flashlight, and turn it on as
I begin to search for the artifact that we needed. As I bend over, I can hear Sam whistle lowly, to which I resist the urge to roll my eyes as a smile begins to form on my lips. I give a sway of my hips as I stoop down and get on my knees to search through a filing cabinet starting from the bottom.
"Now you're just bein' a tease." Sam mutters.
"Well, what can I say? I'd rather be fucking you six ways from Sunday than be on this job. I told you that this was a bad idea." I replied.
Sam's breath hitches from my crude statement, but continues searching the office regardless.
"Tara, you know we need this. I'd rather be at the motel with you and Nate right now watching Ghost Busters or somethin', but unfortunately, we need the money. Hence, why we're doing this job." Sam sighed.
I can't help but sigh as well, knowing Sam was right. We were on our last hundred dollars, which was already being used to stay at the motel for another night. We did need the money, but the risk of this job seemed too high for me. If we were caught by the police, they might figure out who Sam really was, and then he'd be in facing serious prison time for a murder he didn't commit. It's only been a couple of months since Sam and Nathan were on the run from the law for the death of Evelyn.
"I know...I'm sorry. I just...I hate jobs like this. Why couldn't we have found a more legit job? This guy that we're working for is really sketch, Sam. I don't like it, not one bit." I told him.
I pause my search and look at Sam as he quickly but quietly rummages through the huge desk in the center of the room by the windows.
"I couldn't agree with you more, sweetheart. This 'client' of ours is gonna try to screw us over. I've already got a plan though." Sam assured me.
"Wait, you agree with me yet we're still doing this job? What the hell, Sam?" I hissed at him.
"I told you I've got a plan, baby." Sam muttered lowly. "Now keep it down."
I grit my teeth together and bite back another snappy comment. Sam notices this and closes up the drawer to the desk and comes over to me.
"Tara, I...as soon as this is over, we'll be set for a couple of months. Then we can resume our search on Avery, alright?" Sam said.
Before I can reply, Sam grabs my hand and pulls me to my feet. Immediately, I melt against him as his palm rests on my cheek.
"You really weren't kidding...yer lookin' at me with those 'fuck me eyes'." Sam joked.
I can feel my face heat up, but don't say anything as Sam gently maneuvers me back towards the desk. As my backside gently hits the edge of the desk, Sam wraps his arms around my waist and lifts me to sit on top of the hardwood. Sam hips press into mine as he inches closer, his breath gently fanning my face. I can already feel my eyes flutter shut.
"Sam...this is probably the worst timing." I mumble softly.
"You're not saying no." Sam responds.
As his lips graze mine, I can already feel my will crumble as I gently bite down on his bottom lip. He lets out a low moan and presses himself more firmly against me.
"This is such a bad idea." I breathed out.
"Probably." Sam nods.
Then, our teeth clash as we kiss passionately, our hands scrambling as we feel each other up. I can already hear the sound of Sam's buckle and his jeans unzipping.
FLASH!
By the time I get off from my high, I'm cuddling Sam on our couch hours later as I hear Tess and Anne from her bedroom. Anne sounds happy to see her best friend, and I smile because it's always a pleasure to have Tess around. Tess was an extremely good influence on Anne, but the two could not be more opposite in personality. Maybe it's what drew the two girls to each other.
I glance up at Sam to see his eyes on the TV, and already, I'm feeling much more level headed than earlier. I was excited for the beach house, to be with our family. To hang out with Nathan and Elena in a normal setting for once. I could only hope Sam could last the two weeks at South Carolina.
"Somethin' on your mind, dear?" Sam glances down at me. "You're not still high as a kite are you?"
"Thankfully no. Is our laundry done? I already packed all our essentials earlier..." I asked.
"Yeah it's all done. I already packed it in our luggage." Sam replied.
I nod and let out a small yawn as I stretch against my husband.
It feels so nice...being able to refer to him as my husband.
"Hey...you're not mad at me right?" I hesitantly question.
"Mad? Why would I be mad?" Sam raised an eyebrow.
"Because...I know you're not one for...a family vacation." I mumble softly.
"Hey...look at me."
I slowly meet his gaze and see Sam smiling down at me. His thumb gently grazes my bottom lip, and I can't help but lean into his touch.
"What you did was...thoughtful. And I appreciate you thinking of my wellbeing. I think a little downtime with you is just what I need after my last job. Plus...it could be just what we need. Especially after everything that happened in Libertalia…" Sam told me. "I think Elena and Nate are really lookin' forward to this trip too...and Sully. That poor bastard..."
I can't help but relax as Sam says all of this, and feel a giant weight lift off of my shoulders.
"We've got about an hour and a half before we have to leave for the airport. So relax. It's too late to start worrying about this trip." Sam chuckled. "How about we grab a bite to eat? Get some pizza or something?"
"That sounds like the greatest idea right about now. I think Elena and Nate are coming over soon- -"
After hearing a firm and loud knock on my front door, I can't help but laugh at the timing.
"That must be them." Sam smirked.
"Time to get up..." I yawned.
I get up after stretching again, as Sam's hand falls from my face, and go to greet Elena and Nate as they come inside with their bags.
"We were just about to order some pizza before we go." I told the couple.
"Pineapple and bacon?" Elena looks at me with a hopeful look.
"I got you. You're gonna be eating for two now. I just hope your kid likes pineapples." I chuckled.
Sam gets up and greets Nathan with a hug before giving Elena one as well. I start ordering the pizza online, having the delivery time within thirty minutes.
I hope ya'll enjoyed the chapter! Next will be the start of the Lost Legacy! :D
