"You told them that I was your wife? I thought that was just the passport?" I asked him, smirking.

"I got a bit angry and it just sort of slipped. Oh well, no taking it back now." He smirked as he picked me back up and vamp sped me to what I assumed was the bedroom before throwing me on the bed.

About 3 hours later, I got up from the bed where Kol was now peacefully asleep. I put his shirt on and walked out on the balcony, letting the warm Italian sun wash over my skin.

I thought about what I would do or say when Damon and Stefan found me, and why they were acting strangely. I worried about the rogue night walkers Marco had warned us about, and I even had a bad feeling about Marco himself. I knew Kol would be by my side no matter what, and that we would fight together if it came down to it. I couldn't help but feel like a giddy teenager when he told me that he told them we were married. In all honesty, I hadn't thought about marriage in a long time. But now, I couldn't ever picture myself with anyone else. Kol was it for me, he was the one. It was written in the stars as well as in my heart, and I wouldn't ever let that go.

I heard Kol's phone ringing from beside the bed. Not wanting to wake him, seeing it was Klaus, I brought up my courage and answered it.

"Hello?" I answered as I picked up the phone.

"Elena? Where is my brother?" Klaus asked from the other end quickly.

"He is finally asleep, he hasn't slept since yesterday morning." I responded honestly.

"Right then, well when he wakes, tell him that Caroline and I are on our way to Rome."

"Why are you coming here?" I asked quickly.

"I believe the two of you are going to need some assistance. I have heard that Marco has been looking for powerful witches, but now that you both are there, he may take it as a threat, and the Salvatore's know you left the country. We will discuss this more when Caroline and I arrive in 17 hours or so." He said before hanging up the phone.

"Who was that, darling?" I heard Kol ask sleepily from the bed.

"It was Klaus, him and Caroline are on their way here." I told him, which made him sit up in the bed quickly.

"Why are they coming here?" Kol asked, searching for his pants.

"He said that Marco has been looking for some powerful witches and might take our arrival as a threat, and that Damon and Stefan know I left the country." I told him. He found his pants and threw me mine as well.

"I knew something was off about him. The entire conversation seemed forced and rushed." Kol said shaking his head.

"We'll figure it out. I'm not going to leave here after only a couple hours this time. We both need a break from planes and cars for at least a couple of weeks." I told him. "Not to mention, Klaus and Caroline will be here in like 17 hours, so I think two original hybrids will be enough to fend off danger for a while." Kol laughed.

"I promise we will stay here longer, darling." Kol replied.

"Do you think it's safe enough to go see some sights while we wait for them to get here?" I asked giving him my pleading eyes.

"I did promise you a shopping trip, love." He said winking at me. I got excited and jumped out of the bed, checking my hair in the mirror. "Just promise me that you will stay by my side the entire time? I don't trust many of the vampires here."

"I promise, Kol. Now let's go!" I said racing him back to the car with vampire speed.

We drove to the outskirts of town, this time at a much more reasonable speed, and parked in a secure parking garage. We took off on foot through the heart of Rome and I gazed at all of the beautiful sights. After shopping for hours, much to Kol's displeasure, but I needed new clothes desperately. After we had put all the bags back in the car, and I had changed into a nice red dress, Kol took me out for a fancy dinner.

We were on our way back to the car when we were surrounded by three crazed looking vampires with blood dripping off their chins. Within seconds, others had arrived as well. I recognized them from Marco's compound.

"Pretty little thing... She looks delicious, doesn't she, Mary?" One of the rogues said as he licked his lips, his fangs coming out.

"Do you realize who I am?" Kol asked menacingly.

"No, but you don't look like you could be more than a couple decades." The rogue said laughing. I heard Kol growling and I felt such anger at the man, I just acted.

I flashed forward, punching him to the ground before standing over him with my hand in his chest.

"Next time I suggest you know your own history. The man you just insulted is Kol Mikaelson, 1000 year old, original vampire." I told him with a squeeze to his heart.

"And who are you? His plaything?" The girl asked, laughing. I pulled the heart out of the man's chest and shoved it forcefully down the woman's throat, not caring that it didn't nearly fit.

"I am Elena Mikaelson, his wife, you bitch!" I yelled as I pulled her heart out and threw it to the third rogue. "Here's something to suck on!" I looked him straight in the eyes."You will never harm another person again." He said the words back to me in monotone and I realized I compelled another vampire without even knowing it. The rogue disappeared along with the other group of vampires quickly. I turned around to face Kol who was looking at me with a smirk and his eyebrows raised.

"That was... impressive to say the least." Kol said as I just looked at him. I leaned down and wiped the blood from my hands on the dead girl's dress.

"They insulted us both and I just kind of acted... I'm sorry." I said as I finally felt myself calm down.

"Why are you apologizing? That was brilliant! You've just proved to them that you are as strong as an original, a force to be reckoned with, darling. Not to mention, you compelled a vampire." Kol said proudly as he hugged me tightly.

"I didn't want to be thought of as weak or insignificant, not when I am on the arm of one of the strongest, oldest beings on the earth." I told him honestly.

"Elena, darling, you are anything but weak or insignificant. However, your little show did probably earn you a few brownie points. People will know not to mess with either of us now. I have always thought that love was a strength and not a weakness, unlike my siblings." He said smiling at me as we walked along like nothing happened. "And I enjoyed your words immensely."

"Oh.. right. It just sorta slipped I guess. And you can't say anything, Mr.I-told-the-whole-compound-you-were-my-wife." I said to him in a mock British accent.

"I wasn't complaining about it, darling. If anything it made me quite proud." Kol said as we arrived back at his car.

"So I guess we are married to basically all of the supernatural in Rome now, right?" I asked, smiling over at him as we got in the car.

"Wouldn't have it any other way, darling. With a bond like we share, we are basically married by fate anyways, wouldn't you agree?" He asked as we drove home. It truly did make sense.

"I don't think I ever really saw you as anything less. Even if I live a thousand years, you'll be it for me." I told him as I squeezed his hand. We were home in minutes and he turned off the car, looking over at me.

"You mean that? Really?" He asked as he looked into my eye. I smiled at him lovingly.

"Yes, Kol. I'm serious. You are it for me, for eternity." I told him honestly. He smirked then flashed around the car and picked me up in his arms.

"Good, because I wasn't going to give you up for the rest of eternity. You are stuck with me, Elena Mikaelson." Kol said kissing me passionately as he carried me inside.

"The name too?" I asked curiously.

"The name too." He replied. "I can have the paperwork here by morning."

"So did we just basically get married?" I asked, laughing as he threw me on the bed.

"I believe we did. Don't worry, darling, there will be plenty of time for white dresses and ceremonies in the future." Kol said as he tore the bloody dress from my body and had his way with me.

Afterwards, I laid on his chest, just thinking. I was married. Kinda.

"Caroline's going to kill me when she gets here." I muttered into Kol's chest.

"And why would that be, darling?" He asked as he stroked my hair.

"Because I technically got married without her here, even though there wasn't much to witness." I told him laughing .

I'm sorry it's taken me so long guys... I have been more than a little caught up in The Hobbit fandom. And it doesn't help that I've broken my wrist twice in the past two months. Ooops. I hope you enjoy! REVIEW! Bex
