Harry
It's like this every year time we get together with any of the rest of the family. James goes around annoying whoever he has chosen for the whole of that day, although I have to admit that I was somewhat impressed when he targeted Teddy today. Teddy is one of the few people, along with Fred, Roxanne, Ginny and occasionally me who can handle themselves around James. Even Mrs Weasley struggles with it.
'Are you going to tell me off?' Teddy asks, grinning at me. He is taller than me, but then again most men are.
I raise my eyebrows at him 'what do you think.'
'I think you want Ginny to think you are.'
I laugh outright at that. It's not true, she understands more than just about anyone what a pain our eldest son can be.
'No, I just wanted to talk to after this morning.' I place an emphasis on the last two words and his face and hair both flush a little, causing his hair to turn a chestnut brown.
'Tell me it's not the talk again.' He almost pleads and again I laugh.
'No it's not that. I just wanted to say that I know what it's like to start dating a member of this family, and when the others …' I cast a glance at the red headed Weasley men eating enthusiastically at the table, 'get used to the idea they'll love it.'
'How long did it take with you and Ginny?'
'About six months after James was born.'
He groans and puts his head in his hands.
'I think James might get me murdered by them all before I reach that stage.'
I laugh again, and then stand, patting him on the shoulder and then leave to take my seat beside Ginny again.
'How did it go?' She whispers to me.
'I think I just depressed him,' I say back.
'Wha you talking 'bout.' Ron says, trying and failing to talk about a large mouthful of roast chicken. I notice Hermione glaring at him, but he doesn't.
I go to lie, knowing that he won't react well if he is reminded of Vicky and Teddy but Ginny takes the decision out of my hands.
'Teddy and Victoire,' She says happily, in a voice loud enough to carry to everyone in the surrounding area, including a Teddy Lupin who is turning pale when he registers that 4 pairs of glaring eyes are about to be directed at him once again, along with Louis'.
Ron starts to choke on the chicken, and Hermione, with a look of exasperation and loving disgust clears his throat with a quick flick of her wand, whispering, 'Really Ronald,' When he has stopped coughing.
For a moment there is silence while Teddy squirms uncomfortably under the glares of the Weasley men, and then suddenly Victoire is there looking furious.
'Will you stop glaring at him,' He snaps, drawing everyones attention off her gaping boyfriend and firmly onto her.
'I am not a child you need to protect, as of today I am of age and Teddy's part of the family. I don't need protecting from him so will everyone please just stop making him feel like he's an intruder.'
The shocked silence after this is broken by Fleur this time.
'especially you beel.'
Those three words seem to cause the floodgates to open and everyone starts yelling around us. Over the roar I can hear Fleur and Bill arguing, him in English and her with random angry bursts of French, I can hear Hermione telling Ron not to be an idiot and then louder than any of it I can hear James, Fred and Roxanne singing.
'Teddy and Victoire sitting in a tree.'
'Really,' Ginny mutters to me, 'This is ridiculous.'
'K.I.S.S.I.N.G'
'I know, well done Victoire.' I say to her, not hearing the words of the song.
'First comes love, then comes a date.'
'I can't believe they're all being so stupid.' She glares around at them all, They are all still yelling, but not Mrs Weasley is trying to calm down her end of the table with shouts of her own and sharp looks.
'Then they meet up and begin to mate'
Out of the corner of my eye I see Victoire begin to turn in the direction of her singing cousins and start to actually listen properly.
'Then there's a bump'
'Gin,' I say, tapping her on the shoulder, and she stiffens when she starts to listen, probably just registering the previous lyrics.
'Then there's a marriage and five months later there's a baby carriage.'
The do start to sing it again, but they are stopped, both by Victoire Lunging at them screaming 'You are not helping,' and Ginny shouting 'How dare you' at the three of them. I feel a certain degree of sympathy for them, having both of them attack at once. All three of them look terrified especially the 7 year old Fred.
Ron
Ron had spent the days after meeting the mental old man feeling utterly useless. He didn't like Fennel, and he and Hermione had spent the better part of the last two days with him sorting out a plan. She had only told him what it was an hour ago, and it had resulted in a pretty heated argument between them.
All of Ron's frustration had come out in a torrent. He hated being shut out. He knew it's how she liked to work until she had everything sorted out, but they were together now and he couldn't help feeling that after everything they had been through together since their first year at Hogwarts he should at least be involved in the planning process. Hermione had explained that a lot of it had to do with some very complex spell work, but Ron hadn't cared.
He had a horrible fear that if it had gone much further they wouldn't be together any more. For once his storming out on an argument may have saved a possible worsening of the situation.
'Ron,' Hermione's clipped voice came from the doorway of the sitting room area of the inn they were staying in. 'We're going, are you coming.'
He just nodded, feeling tired and longing for home. He felt older than he had since the battle. Being a grown-up he decided wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
After they has apperated to the alley near where Hermione's parents were living she began to walk immediately, Fennel next to her and Ron trailing miserably in their wake.
He stood beside her and took her hand after she'd knocked the door. No matter how angry they were at each other he knew that this was hard for her, and he wouldn't let her be alone when the inevitable happened.
When the door opened a wispy little woman, with Hermione's brown frizzy hair stood at the threshold and regarded them with polite interest.
'May I help you?' She said pleasantly, looking at Ron. Her smile faded a little when she looked at her daughter with confusion, 'I'm sorry have we met?'
Hermione nodded, but didn't elaborate. Her eyes were shining, and she looked as though she would rather be anywhere but standing in front of her mother, who was looking at her as though she were a stranger.
Realising that Hermione was not going to speak Ron hastily did so, looking the woman right in the eye. 'We are here from the gas board,' He told her, telling her exactly word for word what Hermione had told him she was going to say, 'Could we come in madam.'
'Of course.' And with that they were let into the house, Fennel and Ron looking around in frank amazement at the muggle dwelling.
Hermione
Hermione was furious with herself. She had known that this was coming, and yet still she had frozen up when her mother had looked at her like that. She had not been even slightly prepared of her mother's friendly unknowing look, as though she just thought they had just bumped into each other in the street once.
She glanced around the house and with another pang saw that all of the photographs that she had left with her parents, after she had taken all the ones with any trace of her, were scattered around the house, along with new ones commemorating their new life without her.
Once both of her parents were say, looking expectant on their living room sofa Fennel quickly stunned both of them. Hermione flinched as she watched both of her parent's slump forwards, but quickly got up and started working the complicated process of restoring their memories. She stayed focussed during the casting. She had to, she didn't know what could go wrong if she didn't, however in the back of her mind she wondered what they would say when they woke up and remembered what she had done. She would have a lot of explaining to do.
Finally, after hours of casting the necessary spells it was done, and all that was left to do was wait. It only took minutes for them to start to stir, but to Hermione it felt like hours.
Helen Granger was the first to open her eyes. She looked daze, but the look she bent upon her daughter was steady and unwavering.
'Hermione,' She said quietly, 'Oh honey.'
Carefully she got to her feet and Hermione followed suit. The collided in the middle of the room, both crying. She buried her face into the soft material of her mother's shirt, while having her hair stroked. She didn't want to sob but she didn't heaving in huge gulping breaths of her mother's familiar scent. She cried even harder when she felt another set of arms engulf her, knowing that now her father was there too.
The hug lasted a long time, Hermione never found out how long, but when they broke apart they examined her closely.
'What happened.' He father said seriously, taking his seat again, 'Tell us everything.'
Slowly, and painstakingly she told them everything, starting from the night she had cast the memory spell. She could see the anger flitter through their faces, and spent the rest of the explanation staring resolutely down at her feet. She was grateful for Ron's arm around her. She didn't think she could have relived what had happened if he hadn't been there with her. The only part of the story she left out was what happened to her at Malfoy manor. They would want details and there was no way she could bring herself to tell them that on top of everything else that day.
There was a long silence when she finally finished, telling them of her time planning in the burrow and then the last few weeks in Australia trying to find them.
'I am so proud of you,' her father finally said, looking at her in a way he never had before. Naturally this just brought out a fresh round of tears from her.
The next thing she knew her mother was on her other side holding tightly onto her hand.
So here's the next update :) I'm going to end this story at the end of the first year (so around the first anniversary thing (AKA Victoire's birth) Let me know if you want a sequel.
Thanks for the favorites follows and reviews as always, and most of all for sticking with it even though I'm a terrible updater when it comes to this story.
