Hello! I hope you all had a good holiday! Thank you to all my reviewers and followers and favorites. I love you guys. I hope you all like this one! :)
Caroline tossed and turned for most of the night, but eventually fell into a dream. She was definitely in a kitchen somewhere but she had no idea where she was. It was bigger than the Mikaelson mansion; it felt older. She saw a clone of herself walk into the kitchen and gasped. Watching herself like this was like an out-of-body experience. She watched herself pour a glass of white wine and rested her elbows on the island when a young girl walked in. She looked to be about sixteen with dark brown hair, hazel eyes; she was beautiful…Caroline realized that she looked a lot like Hayley. The teenager sat on a stool and grunted.
"What's wrong Hope?" Clone Caroline asked. Hope? Is this Hope in the future? Is this a vision or something? Caroline thought to herself.
"OK, so…there's the festival this weekend…" Hope started.
"Uh-huh." Clone Caroline said taking a sip of her wine and raising an eyebrow.
"Well, there's this guy I want to go with."
"Ooh, does this 'guy' have a name?"
"Jake." Hope smiled. "But, dad will never let me go, especially if the boy is a werewolf too. I was wondering if you could…I don't know…convince dad to let me go?" Clone Caroline sighed.
"I'll see what I can do." Suddenly, another teenager walked in. He looked younger than Hope with blonde hair and striking blue eyes. He looked incredibly similar to Davina's sketch of the Lumen Dea boy. Do we find him in the future?
"IF you're going with Jake, I'll have to keep my eye on you." The boy said.
"Ew, no." Hope argued.
"Who else is going to protect you?"
"I don't need protecti—"
"Stop arguing you two. You can both go, just leave each other alone." Clone Caroline said giving the boy a warning glare. "I will talk to your dad about Jake." Hope shot up from her stool and hugged Caroline. The dream faded like smoke as Caroline drifted into a new one. Caroline found herself sitting on a forest floor and Mikael stood before her.
"I want you to give a message to my son." She scoffed at him. "Tell him I'm coming back. Tell him I'm going to kill Hope, that boy and everything he loves. Then I'm going to chain him up like the dog he is." He grabbed her by the throat and lifted her off the ground. "Then I think I'll peel the skin off your bones in front of him." Caroline tried to use her Lumen Dea powers on him, but nothing was happening. She clawed at his arm because she couldn't breathe. He laughed at her. "Silly girl, your powers don't work here." Caroline cried out in pain. Someone was shaking her shoulders.
"Caroline…sweetheart, wake up." She opened her eyes and Klaus was hovering above her. "I heard you screaming, are you alright?"
"It was a…bad dream." She didn't want to tell him what she saw because she didn't know if any of it was real. Lilah will know. She thought.
"Do you want to talk about it?" She shook her head 'no' and Klaus turned to walk away.
"Thanks." She said. He smiled at her and then left the room.
For the next half hour, Caroline just laid there wide awake. It had to be four in the morning so she decided to go and find Lilah to see if she had any visions; if she was even awake yet. When Caroline walked into Lilah's bedroom, Lilah was sitting on the floor drinking out of a bottle of bourbon.
"Caroline, why are you up?" Lilah patted the floor next to her for Caroline to sit down. She offered Caroline the bottle and she accepted.
"I think I had a vision…" Lilah raised an eyebrow at her.
"Of Hope as a hormonal teenager and that Lumen Dea boy?" Lilah asked.
"Yeah, you saw it too?"
"Mhm. I also had a lovely visit from Ester. She wants to come back to the land of the living."
"Mikael threatened me too." Lilah sighed.
"This is obviously a problem. If any witches saw the vision of you at the Compound with Hope and that boy, they'll be after you." Caroline was confused.
"What's the Compound?"
"The Mikalesons' old home that Marcel currently lives in." Caroline groaned.
"Why do the witches even care what I am?"
"Lumen Dea have always quarreled with witches. Our people pay no attention to their 'rule' about going against nature; we can mimic their magic and hurt them, but you Caroline, you might be able to deflect their magic all together." Caroline was concerned by this; she didn't want to hurt any of the witches. Bonnie was a witch and she'd never hurt her. "I…should probably mention that we can raise people from the dead…"
"Excuse me?! You weren't telling me this why?!"
"Bonnie didn't want it to influence your decision. It takes the power of two Lumen Dea to do it. My father died trying to bring my sister back because I wasn't strong enough to help him."
"So, we can bring them back?"
"They have to want to come back." Caroline thought about Davina.
"OK so, the whole reason Marcel took Davina was because she didn't want to die right?"
"Yeah, and?"
"What if we promise Davina if her coven doesn't bring her and the other Harvest girls back, we will?" Lilah drank more bourbon.
"It would take a lot of power."
"But we're immortal; I don't think it'll kill us. Plus, that would help the witch problem. They could practice magic again. All we have to do then is figure out how to get Marcel's vampires on our side." Lilah laughed at Caroline's enthusiasm.
"Are you trying to take over New Orleans, Ms. Mystic Falls?"
"Hey, I'm just trying to help! Before the ball, let's go talk to Davina, ok?"
"Fine. I was going to bring her one of my old violins anyway."
"Then, I want to go to the Compound." Lilah choked on her bourbon when she said that.
"Are you crazy? Klaus isn't going to just let us go to a place filled with hundreds of vampires."
"I don't need his permission! I'm doing this my way. Will you help me?" Lilah groaned.
"Yes, I will. I admire your courage Caroline. All of mine is here in this bottle; I'll have to drink it up before we go." Lilah joked.
Caroline was wide awake now. She had to think up a plan in order to get Davina and Marcel's vampires on Klaus' side. She hoped that he wouldn't be too mad at her for this, but she just wanted to help. She also wanted Bonnie back and she would do whatever it took to get her. Caroline wanted to leave already but it was 5:30 a.m. She showered and remembered that the ball was tonight. She hoped the Originals would be too busy organizing that to notice their absence. She put on a dark blue shirt with some skinny jeans and her pair of leather boots that she felt confident in.
Caroline returned to Lilah's room at 7, thinking it was a good time to leave. Lilah opened the door and grabbed Caroline, pulling her inside.
"Davina is expecting us. If anyone asks, we're going to donate this violin to a school and buying heels for the ball." Lilah whispered. "Rebekah is busy bossing Hayley and Matt around and she sent Klaus and Elijah on an errand."
"Alright, good, I have a plan."
"Want to share?"
"Nope." They went downstairs and found Rebekah watching men carry tables into the ballroom.
"Are you two doing that violin thing?" She asked.
"Yep."
"Okay, but don't take too long. If you want to look decent tonight, you should be back by afternoon."
"Yes ma'am." Caroline joked and saluted Rebekah.
Caroline and Lilah practically ran out the door and hastily made their way to Father Kieran's church. To Caroline's disappointment, he was here and glaring at them.
"What do you two want?" He asked nicer than expected.
"We're just here to give Davina one of Lilah's old violins. We're not going to hurt her."
"Fine, but if I hear anything out of the ordinary, I'm calling Marcel." Caroline walked over to him and put her hand on his shoulder.
"We're not all bad you know. You can trust me."
"That's what they all say." She sighed.
"I look forward to earning your trust." That's what a diplomat would say. Caroline thought. Kieran nodded and they went upstairs to the attic. Davina had on a leather jacket and looked more mature to Caroline. Lilah opened the case and handed Davina a beautiful, light wood violin. She plucked the strings.
"It sounds beautiful." Caroline said.
"Thank you guys so much." She smiled. "What did you guys want to talk to me about?" Caroline sat down next to Davina on her bed.
"Did you know that Lumen Deas can bring the dead back to life?" Davina nodded. "I have a proposition for you that can end this whole feud with you and the witches. What if I was to promise you that if you go through with the Harvest ritual, I would make sure you and your friends are brought back to life?" Davina looked scared.
"You mean let them kill me?"
"So we can bring your friends back, they're stuck in some supernatural purgatory. If the witches can't bring them back, I will." Davina looked away and thought for a moment.
"Do you really think that will end the fighting? The witches want Marcel and Klaus dead. Marcel has two vampires with him that told him how to kill Klaus. Plus, the witches are terrified of you Caroline."
"Well, if they don't do the Harvest right, then they should be scared of me. Look, Davina, my best friend is a Bennett witch and I need to bring her back too. I'm sure she can teach you how to control your magic."
"You know a Bennett witch?"
"Small world." They laughed and Davina stared at Caroline.
"Fine, I'll do it but don't tell Marcel yet, let me." Caroline hugged Davina.
"Everything will be okay, I promise."
"Davina, did you have any visions last night?" Lilah asked. It totally slipped Caroline's mind to ask about that.
"About Caroline? Yeah, that's why the witches are scared. Everyone knows what she is now."
"Well, they're just going to have to deal with it." Caroline looked around the room. "Why don't you come to the ball tonight? Wear a mask so no one sees you."
"Marcel will never let me."
"If no one knows it's you, what could it hurt?" Davina smiled.
"I'll see what I can do." They said goodbye. "I owe you Caroline."
"I'll keep that in mind."
As soon as they left the church, Caroline's beauty-queen face morphed into anger.
"Woah, what's wrong?" Lilah asked.
"The two vampires that know how to kill Klaus? Damon and Enzo."
"Oh, well yeah, but Niklaus has the only white oak stake in hiding."
"I'm still going to kill them." Caroline said marching away. Lilah led them to the Compound and Caroline marveled at its beauty. There was history there and it felt like a castle, only not one out of a fairytale. She took it upon herself to walk through the iron gates and into the courtyard. There was no one around.
"Marcel!" She shouted. He flashed in front of her, she didn't flinch.
"Caroline, to what do I owe the pleasure?" He flashed her that brilliant smile.
"I heard a rumor that two vampires I know are guests here." She said crossing her arms.
"Enzo and Damon? They're real fun guys; tell a lot of…stories." He knows. Caroline thought.
"Blondie, what are you doing here?" Damon asked appearing out of nowhere.
"I was just going to ask you two the same thing. You're coming with me."
"Slow down gorgeous. We like it here." Lilah nervously turned her body so that her back was against Caroline's as vampires started emerging around them.
"Well, I don't like you two being here. What if you tell Marcel some embarrassing stories about me?" Caroline said flirtatiously.
"You mean how the almighty Klaus is in love with you?" Marcel asked. Caroline swallowed hard.
"Klaus doesn't love anyone." Lilah said and Marcel laughed.
"We both know that's not true Delilah. Now, that I know whose side you fight for Caroline, what do you want?" Caroline didn't want to lose her cool; she spent all morning thinking this through.
"I want a spot on your supernatural council." She said confidently.
"What?" He and Lilah said in unison.
"I'm going to be a resident of New Orleans and I'm an alpha of my kind; I deserve a place."
"She is an alpha Marcel. My bloodline is the oldest of the Deas." He laughed.
"You think you can just come in here demanding things of me?" He whistled and suddenly more vampires circled them on the floor and came out on the balconies. Caroline smirked.
"This is your big threat? A little vampire army? Most of which can't go out in the sun?" Lilah had a questioning look on her face. Caroline decided to address the army. "How many of you have daylight rings? 1…2…12? How many of you have gone years trying to earn them?" Most of them raised their hands. Marcel was getting angry. "I'm assuming that many of you didn't choose to become vampires, so why would Marcel punish you more?"
"They have to earn my trust." He said through his teeth.
"No Marcel, you have to earn theirs. They keep you in power." He growled at her. "What if I told you all that if you were loyal to Klaus Mikaelson, you would all have daylight rings?" The crowd started whispering to each other. "No matter how hard you try, Marcel doesn't even have any witches to make rings, but I do. Why settle for empty promises when the Mikaelson family will give you freedom?" There was whispering again. Marcel snapped his fingers and the 12 vampires with daylight rings attacked them. Lilah grabbed one by the face and burned their skin till they collapsed. The other 11 came at Caroline. Enzo and Damon ran to help, but Caroline's hands lit up orange and the vampires fell to their knees in agony. She stared at Marcel waiting for him to tell her to stop as his minions burned before him. He lunged at her. She grabbed him by the wrist and he fell to his knees before her. She leaned down and whispered in his ear.
"Looks like you bow to me now." She turned back to the crowd, releasing the vampires from their torture. "Here's a pen and paper. If you want to join us and gain your freedom, write your name down ad hand it to me at the ball. I look forward to seeing you all there." She said sweetly and walked away. Lilah, Enzo, and Damon ran after her. She turned to the boys when they got outside.
"What were you two thinking?! Don't you know there's a war going on?!"
"He offered us a place to stay, got us drunk, and the stories just kinda poured out of us." Damon said and Caroline grunted.
"Don't worry gorgeous, no one said anything about a white oak stake."
"Yeah, yeah, stake, whatever." Lilah said shushing them. "Caroline. Give someone a little warning about the plan next time. I thought it was a tiny plan, not a get-a-vampire-army-on-my-side plan."
"Carebear doesn't do anything half-assed." Damon said.
They walked back to the plantation and thought there would still be ball preparation going on, but instead found Klaus standing in the middle of the living room with his arms crossed and his mouth in a straight line. Caroline knew she was in trouble.
"So, which one of you wants to tell me why Marcel has now declared war on me?" He started.
"You two." Lilah said pointing at Damon and Enzo. "You might want to see if Rebekah needs help with anything." They quickly left the room and Lilah turned back to face Klaus. "Now Nik, before you get angry—"
"I'm already angry. Whose idea was it to go and see Davina without Marcel's permission?"
"Wait, is that all he told you?" Caroline asked and Klaus looked confused, then mad again.
"There's more?"
"Don't get mad at Lilah. This was all me. We both had visions last night and wanted to see if the witches had them too. Then I kind of had the idea to tell Davina that if she goes through with the Harvest, Lilah and I would bring her back to life…"
"What visions?" He put his hand over his eyes in frustration.
"We saw Hope as a teenager and the Lumen Dea boy. They were with Caroline at the Compound." Lilah said.
"The Compound?" Klaus grinned.
"Then Ester threatened me and Mikael threatened Caroline. They say they're coming back from the dead."
"Well, let's hope they stay dead. Now, tell me, what else have you two done behind my back today?" Caroline was frustrated now.
"We didn't do anything behind your back, we did this for you!"
"I can take care of myself, Caroline."
"Oh yeah? Out of the two of us, who has a vampire army now thanks to me?"
"What are you talking about?"
"It was really quite impressive Nik. I had no idea what she was up to. She could've killed everyone in the room because she hasn't learned to control her powers yet." Lilah said disdainfully so Caroline would know she didn't approve.
"I'm sorry okay? But I had it under control."
"I know and it was terrifyingly… magnificent. In the time I attacked one vampire, Caroline brought twelve to their knees." Klaus was secretly proud of Caroline but kept a straight face.
"What happened?"
"Well, Davina told us that Enzo and Damon were there so we took them. We don't think they said too much, like how to kill you. I kind of told Marcel's army that if they were loyal to you…you'd give them daylight rings…" Klaus just stared at her.
"And where am I supposed to get these rings?" He asked in a biting tone.
"Davina. I got the spell out of Bonnie's grimoire." He sighed.
"Did it work?"
"We'll find out at the ball. They're supposed to write their names down."
"Why didn't Marcel want Klaus to know about us going to the Compound?" Lilah asked.
"To see if it was an actual promise made by me or just Caroline's doing. If you're going to play Marcel, treat him like you would treat me. He is no fool." Klaus said and Caroline felt defeated. Marcel was probably telling his army it was all a lie right now.
"What if it worked?" Elijah said appearing in the doorway.
"Then we can thank Caroline." Lilah said.
"For being reckless, impulsive…" Klaus started.
"Brilliant." Elijah defended and Klaus glared at him. "Quit your tantrum, the girl helped you, thank her." Elijah walked away. Lilah was smiling and Klaus wanted to wipe the smirk off her face.
"I'm waiting." Caroline teased and Klaus rolled his eyes.
"Thank you Caroline, for trying to get yourself killed." She groaned. "And for…trying to help."
"Was that so hard?"
"Do not push me." He said. Caroline scoffed and left the room. Lilah turned to him.
"Don't sabotage yourself." She said.
"She could've been killed. I should've been there." She shrugged her shoulders.
"But she wasn't. Stop being stubborn. She did all this for you Niklaus." Lilah walked away and went after Caroline leaving Klaus alone with his thoughts.
P.S. I imagined teenager Hope as Lucy Hale. I have no idea who to pick for the boy though. Anyone come to mind for you guys?
