Over several weeks; Teague, Jack, Barbossa, and Calypso searched the seas for the Dutchman. When no one could find the ship anywhere; they all knew that Will had taken me to the locker with him. But they all knew it wouldn't take long before he would allow his sorrow to drive him out of the locker and want to avenge me.
Will spent most of his time in the hold where I lay still and silent. He would watch me and speak to me as if I could hear him and was merely sleeping. He would allow no one to enter the hold or his cabin; not even his own father. Will was at war with himself and his father; he couldn't bring himself to forgive Bootstraps. He held onto my cold limp hand and stroked it gently as he spoke. He then grew silent when he felt a presence behind him. He knew who it was; it was his father. Will bowed his head and gently kissed my hand, trying to ignore the silent presence of his father.
"Will. Please. Don't do anything rash. You must return her to her family. It is the best thing for her." Bootstraps stepped forward a single step.
"The best thing for her."Will stood up and turned around to face his father, "When was that any of your concern? If you wanted the best thing for her; she wouldn't be dead!" Will screamed.
"Will..."
"NO! I don't want to hear another word from you! GET OUT! GET OFF OF MY SHIP!" Will screamed. Bootstraps stepped back a pace in surprise.
"You don't mean that!"
"GET OFF OF MY SHIP! GET OUT!" Will then drew his sword and stormed toward his father. "GET OUT!" Bootstraps then took off running; quickly followed by Will. When both father and son reached the main deck; Bootstraps was forced to draw his own sword for defense. Will closed in on his father and within seconds the both of them were in combat with the other. Crew members were dodging attacks and cried out in confusion on the situation at hand. Before another strike was made; the ship suddenly stopped which made it jolt. Everyone fell onto the deck. Suddenly the loud sound of water being disturbed came and was quickly joined by a loud groaning scream from an unseen creature. Before anyone could ask anything, huge tentacles came erupting out of the water and began to swoop about the air. The crew screamed and began to run about in fear. The Kraken was resurrected. The Kraken then had its tentacles sweep down and about the main deck of the ship. It didn't grab a single crew member; it was searching. A single tentacle found Will and brushed him gently against his cheek. Then what seemed like an unspoken order, the Kraken then swooped its tentacles at Bootstraps and grabbed him. Will watched solemnly as the Kraken dragged his father off of the ship. Bootstraps screamed and clawed at the main deck until he was hoisted into the air and was flung into the air. Bootstraps then landed into the water. The Kraken dragged him down below. After what seemed like hours; but were mere minutes, Bootstraps floated near the surface of the water. But not in a solid body form; as a mere ghostly shape of himself like the other dead that were lost at sea. Will looked down at the ghost of his father with nothing but disappointment. Then without a seconds hesitation; the Kraken disappeared into the sea where the living dwelled. Will then walked silently inside his cabin for the rest of the night.
Calypso sat silently in the cabin of Captain Teague; her mind was one with the sea. Every thought was focused on the soul of her daughter. The sea was her remnants of what was left of my existence. She listened to the waves; it sounded like whispers. Faint whispers of my voice trying to speak. Calypso then whispered back as if trying to urge me to speak louder.
"Mother. He has exiled his father to the sea of dead." My voice whispered in her mind; as the waves nudged the ship and seemed to dance about.
"Whom do you speak of child?" Calypso whispered back.
"Will. He resurrected the Kraken and had his father banished to the sea of the dead in the locker." my voice echoed back in her head.
"Where is the Kraken now my child?" Calypso asked.
"Among the living..." my voice was now sounding faint.
"My child! Don't leave! I need to hear more!" Calypso begged as she gripped her skirt in frustration. But then she lost connection with my voice; and could only feel my emotions with the waves. They spoke of nothing but sorrow and emptiness. Calypso then stood up and walked out of the cabin and out onto the main deck. She looked around before she noticed Teague was at the helm. She then briskly walked up to him and touched his shoulder. "We have a problem." she spoke when the Captain looked her in the eye. "The Kraken is back."
It was nightfall in the locker; Will sat quietly behind his desk while staring at my piece of eight necklace fondly. He rubbed the coin gently with his thumb as he cradled it in the palm of his hand. All was silent as he thought about the dealings with his father, and the faint memories of me. He sighed heavily as he closed his hand into a fist, gripping the necklace and putting it to his lips. He closed his eyes and allowed a single tear to slide down his cheek. Just when he felt like he was going to break; the soft sound of a woman giggling wafted outside the cabin. Will opened his eyes to see that he was the only one in the room. He stood up and went to walk to the door to see who was giggling. When he went to grasp the door handle, when the sound of the giggling stopped. Will then stepped away from the door and went back to his desk. Without even realizing it; Will slowly fell asleep behind his desk. Still grasping my necklace in his hand; and there he began to dream.
/ Will sits up from lying in the sand; the sun is shining brightly, he looks around to see that he is on the shore of the island where the cannibals live. He gets to his feet and scans the area for any life. The wind is blowing gently, tugging at his thick brown locks and clothes. Suddenly the sound of a woman giggling wafts on the wind. Will looks into the deep forest; the source seemed to be coming from there. The more he heard the giggling, the more it seemed to be calling him in the dense forest. Without thinking, Will walked over to the border of the forest and peers in. "William…." A soft whisper reaches his hearing on a soft breeze. "William…" The voice calls again. It is the woman who was giggling. Her voice was soft and teasingly calling his name in between bursts of playful giggles. Will then began to venture in the forest for the source of the voice. What seemed like forever of searching, he finally stumbled upon a young woman dancing and weaving about the trees. She spun around and finally faced him; when he saw her face, he was speechless. It was me; Bethany. I was dressed in a simple light green dress and was smiling. "Catch me Will!" I giggled and began to run deeper into the forest. Will instantly burst into a run, running as fast as he could to get to me. I burst out into joyous laughter as I weaved about. "C'mon Will!" I skipped and ran about; staying slightly ahead of him, teasing him with every laugh and smile.
"Bethany…." A voice on the wind called. I kept running and skipping about; slowly making my way back to the shore line. "Bethany…" Will knew this voice; it was Calypso. I spun in a circle and pranced about the sand. I was now at the water's edge. "Time to come home…." Calypso whispered. I then began to walk into the sea; Will stopped at the edge of the water and watched me. When I was waist deep, I looked over at Will and smiled one last time before I then disappeared into the water. Will screamed and ran in after me; he dove under the waves, to only see that I was nowhere. The water began to grow heavy and drag him down. Will could feel the water trying to suffocate him as he struggled. Then everything went black./
Will woke with a start; gasping for air as he quickly sat up to find that he was still indeed his bed chambers of his ship. Thinking deeply about the disturbing dream, he got out of bed and walked out onto the deck. The dream had to be a sign; a sign that something was wrong somewhere. He then went below deck into what was now my crypt. He walked up to my still form to see that nothing was amiss. Then he noticed it; a single tear rolling down my cheek. He touched my face to feel that I was still cold as death. Then he gently picked up my one wrist and felt for a pulse. Nothing. I had been dead for quiet sometime; how could I produce a tear? Will gently wiped the tear away. His mind was made up; he had to go back to the world of the living. I had to be returned back to the sea with my mother. He could no longer keep me; which caused his chest to ache, where his heart used to be. He bent down and kissed my forehead; and allowed a tear to fall from his eye and land on my face as he finished the simple kiss. He then walked back up onto the main deck. He dismissed the helmsman and took the wheel himself. He took a deep breath and began to steer the ship back to the world of the living.
Jack stretched his arms over his head as he walked about the deck of the Misty Lady. He was about to go below deck for some rest, when he spotted the Flying Dutchman approaching them. He grimaced, "Well this can't be good." He muttered out loud to himself. Then he spun around and burst into the Captain's Cabin to see his father look up at him. "He's here." Jack watched as his father nodded solemnly. Then Teague stood up from his desk and walked out onto the deck; Jack quickly followed, trying to keep pace with his father. Just as they reached the railing, The Dutchman had already reached them. Teague watched solemnly as the ship weighed anchor next to them. The crew on the Misty Lady shifted about nervously not sure what they should do. Teague waved them back in assurance not to attack unless commanded. Suddenly Will stood at the railing of his ship gazing at both pirate captains. He then turned away and headed below deck where I was kept in my makeshift crypt.
Will slowly walked up to me; without a word, he lifted me off of my alter and cradled me in his arms. Will then began to walk back to the deck with me. Once he was on deck; Will was greeted by Teague and Jack. Will looked at the two of them before looking down at me once more. There was a slight breeze that tugged at our hair; he bowed his head and laid his forehead against mine. Will then felt a presence just before him; he then picked his head up and saw Calypso standing next to Teague and Jack.
"Please Will. Give my daughter back." Calypso begged as she held out her arms. Will was torn between giving me up or keeping me all to himself. "William Turner. Please give me back my child." Calypso stepped forward a single step. Will then stepped back while staring at Calypso. Suddenly, several huge tentacles burst from the waters' surface and knocked Jack, Teague and Calypso back, and onto the Misty Lady. The Kraken had arrived. The Kraken went to attack the Misty Lady, when suddenly a huge pack of sharks arrived and began to attack it. They slammed themselves against the huge squid-like creature and bit at its tentacles. The Kraken groaned and screamed out in pain and frustration as it was herded away from both ships and back out into deeper waters. Will then looked back down at me and then turned and returned me to my crypt.
That night, Will refused to leave my side. He had his crew ordered to sail to Port Royal to get supplies. Little did he know, that the Dutchman was being closely followed by the Misty Lady. Will had fallen asleep as well as the rest of the crew late in the night. Everything was peaceful. But not for long. Teague and Jack readied themselves as the Misty Lady quietly crept next to the Dutchman. Both father and son grabbed a hold of their ropes and swung over and onto the Dutchman with stealth on their side. Teague looked around before leading the both of them down below deck. With each floor and cavern checked; the two Pirate Captains slowly made their way down toward the bottom of the ship. After a while, the two of them soon discovered the entrance to the crypt. Jack slowly opened the door and peered inside; Teague then peered inside just above him. Both saw Will fast asleep in a chair sitting next to me.
Jack opened the door all the way and began to creep inside. Teague followed closely, keeping every sense on high. When Teague reached my side, he looked down and looked deeply into my peaceful face. I looked like I was just merely sleeping. Teague reached down and scooped me up. I was light in his arms as he turned and began to walk back toward the door. Jack followed, making sure that Will didn't wake. When they finally made it back onto the deck; Jack motioned over to the Misty Lady to put out a plank to bridge the two ships together. When the temporary bridge was all in place, Teague carried me across first with Jack covering his back. The instant the three of us were back aboard the Misty Lady, the plank was brought back and the Misty Lady began to turn around and head away from the Dutchman and disappear into the night.
- Pelegosto Island -
The Misty Lady weighed anchor just inside the cove of the island. Teague stood inside his cabin watching Calypso do some finishing touches on my attire and hair as the preparations of my burial would take place on shore next to the rest of the remains of my grandmother on this island where the cannibals thrived. When I was finished; Calypso stepped away. Teague motioned for two of his crew to carefully place me on the stretcher that laid on the nearby table. Teague then approached me as his crew readied themselves at each end of the stretcher. He reached out and touched my cheek and was slightly shocked to find his hand wet with a single tear that had come from me. Teague then stepped away and nodded for his crew to take me out onto the main deck.
Once out on the main deck, Teague along with Jack and Calypso headed over to the long boats. The crew gently set me inside and stepped away allowing Teague and Jack to help Calypso in the boat first before they climbed in. The boat was then hoisted up and then lowered into the water. The instant the boat was disconnected from the ship; Teague and Jack took up the oars and began heading to shore. They were then followed by the rest of the crew.
The instant the boat hit shore; Jack jumped out and began to ease it further onto shore. Teague then jumped out and began to help him. When everyone was all accounted for; the same crew members picked up the stretcher and walked up to Teague waiting for instruction on where to put me. Teague then looked about his crew with a solemn expression; before turning around, facing the jungle. Then breaking the silence and stillness, Teague and Jack began to walk into the thick vegetation. Calypso and the rest of the crew followed right behind the crew carrying me on the stretcher.
After several hours of walking on the worn old jungle path; everyone halted before a small clearing which held a single stone cross in the center that was beneath a tall tree, which the roots of the huge tree jutted out from the earth and fanned out before re-entering the earth below. Teague then ordered several of his crew to start digging a grave next to the one that was marked by the stone cross. The crew quickly began their job of digging the grave. When it was finished, it was now night time. The whole clearing was lit up with torches that were either stuck in the ground or held by some of the crew. Many of the crew now began to sing a commemorative requiem as their Captain and his son began to prepare to lay me to rest. Teague pulled out my piece of eight necklace of his vest pocket; he had stolen it from Will before taking me. Teague leaned over me and gingerly fastened the necklace around my neck. Then he gently kissed me on the forehead before stepping away. Calypso walked up to me with Jack holding her hand; she folded my hands at my chest, having me hold a small bouquet of white lilies. Jack then placed my sheathed sword beneath the bouquet and my folded hands, so that I was holding both. I was still dressed with the simple black dress Will had given me. Calypso had also given me several silver bracelets and anklets. Jack had given me a emerald ring that was intertwined with two dragons that was placed on my right middle finger. When both of my parents stepped away; the two crew members carefully handed me over to two other members who removed me from the stretcher and slowly lowered me into the ground where my coffin was waiting for me. When I was laid inside the wooden casket; the two men then closed it with the lid and began to nail it shut. The instant the job was done; they climbed out and allowed the crew that dug the grave to now burry me.
By sunrise, everyone now began to immerge from the jungle and begin their return back to the Misty Lady. Everyone but Teague. Teague now stood alone, before my grave which was marked like my grandmother's; with a stone cross. He stared at both graves for a while, allowing many memories of both loved ones flood his mind. He was temporarily disturbed when someone behind him walked into the clearing. He looked over his shoulder and smiled gently as Barbossa and Gem walked up to him. Gem held a huge bouquet of tiger lilies and approached my grave. She sank down to her knees before setting the colorful array of flowers down at the base of my gravestone. A gentle breeze appeared and danced about the clearing before disappearing once more. Barbossa then walked up to Gem and set his hand on her shoulder. Gem looked at her grandfather with tears in her eyes. Barbossa then helped her onto her feet and the two of them began to walk away and back into the jungle to their ships. Teague then followed them; when they were at the shore line, the three stopped and looked at the three ships. The Misty Lady, The Black Pearl, and The Black Dragon. Gem was now Captain of my ship since I had fallen into death's grasp. No one knew what was in store for them, but one thing still remained. Will had to be sent back to the locker with his new pet, the Kraken. The three Captains then boarded their ships and began to head out to sea on their own journeys. Calypso returned to the ocean, helping the ships get into deeper water.
-Nightfall-
Will had found out that I was taken by Teague; he knew Teague wouldn't keep my corpse. The only thought on my whereabouts was the dream he had. Where I was buried. Pelegosto Island. Despite the fact he wasn't allowed to walk on land for quite some time; Will jumped ship when the anchor was weighed outside the island's shores. He then waded into shallow water. The instant his boot hit dry land; Will collapsed. His body felt like it weighed several ton. But this didn't stop him. Will desperately clawed at the sandy earth, making him move further inland. After what seemed like forever, Will reached the scarred burial grounds that held both me and my grandmother's graves. Will struggled against the sea's pull and crawled to my grave. The second he reached the base of my gravestone, he collapsed and allowed himself to cry. Just before dawn, several of his crew found him and picked him up and began to head back to the Flying Dutchman. When on board, Will was taken to his cabin, where he was forced to rest and allow the crew to tend to his needs till he had the strength to move once more. Will closed his eyes as he heard the anchor being pulled up and the ship began to go back out to sea. He could feel his heart in the chest, down in the empty crypt ache next to my still heart. Will then fell into a restful coma as his ship began its journey back into the locker.
-One Week Later- Pelegosto Island-
The cool air danced through the vegetation of the jungle and about the clearing of the small cemetery. Nightfall had arrived hours ago. The only light was the light from the full moon and the many sparkling stars. All was silent; not a single animal made so much as a squeak. Something wasn't right. Tonight was different from all the other nights here.
Out of nowhere, at the base of my gravestone the sand began to shift ever so slightly. Suddenly, my hand shot out of the sandy earth. It then dropped onto the surface of the earth and began to claw out, as if trying to pull something out of the ground. As my hand pulled, slowly more and more of my arm began to come into sight. Before long, my other hand came out of the earth shortly followed by my head and shoulders. I then pulled myself out of the tunnel I had come from and coughed. I kept coughing as to allow oxygen back into my lungs. I laid there on the ground at the base of my grave I had occupied; tired from the escape while still clutching my sword. I soon then found my strength and got to my feet. I wobbled and fell back onto the ground. After several tries, I finally mastered the simple task of standing. By then I had gotten my breathing back to normal. I looked about before looking down at my now empty grave. Then without thinking, I turned away and headed for the sea.
Once I was at the beach, I stared out at the ocean without a single hint of expression. I then looked down at my sword before looking out at the horizon and began to walk into the water. It was time to find my ship and return to my lover.
THE END
