CHAPTER 10 DRAGON TALES

Hermione woke me up early in the morning with a determined face and dragged me to Merlin knows where. It actually made her look funny.

"For Merlin's sake Hermione! Stop dragging me to - wherever we are going!"

"Well of course to the Library."

"It's six in the morning! Six!"

"You should wake up early sometimes it's good for your health. Fresh air to breathe, eat a healthy breakfast, a bit of walking for exercise."

"I'M STILL IN MY PYJAMAS YOU NINNY! And why the Library of all places? You already have issued a book and we can't issue another one while having it. Well at least for first years that is."

"I know that's why you are going to issue it for me. It's about Nicolas Flamel anyway and I know that I've read about him somewhere in my free time."

"But why this early Mione! I haven't even had a bath for Merlin's sake!"

"Stop saying that. We are going to take that book, go back to our dorm and you can go back to your precious sleep. I promise to give you pumpkin pasties after lunch…"

I didn't hear the rest of what she said as I began to run, now dragging her towards the Library. It was chilly in the morning but I didn't care as I ran in my shorts and shirt. Hermione was surprised and tried to keep up with me.

"Move your legs faster Mione! I need those pumpkin pasties right after we get that book of yours!"

"BLOODY HELL! HOLY MERLIN! MY PUMPKIN PASTIES!" I yelled and hugged my wet shivering body tightly. I looked here and there to see the whole Great Hall laughing and then to my soaked body.

"That's what you get when you start a prank war!" the Weasley twins laughed maniacally. "Now only our Greek princess is left and then we shall call it a tie! Alas it's time to say goodbye!" and off they went to find their next victim.

A pretty girl across the table rolled her eyes and casted a spell to dry me. I thanked her and realised that it was Katie Bell, one of the Chasers of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. We talked for a while as I had nothing else to do after classes got over. Hermione was busy explaining the boys about the Philosopher's Stone that we found about early in the morning, and Cybele was busy hiding from the twins. Katie was also trying to convince me to try for a Chaser and tried taking me to the pitch. That's when I packed my bags and came running to the Astronomy Tower.

This place has been my favourite so far. I always try to watch the sunset from here as it gives this calmness and the wind that breezes through your body and relaxes you. I have yet to bring the trio here, when there are no teachers or classes being held, and show them to be carefree once in a while. Little did I know they were only bringing more trouble to themselves.

"I'm actually confused to either yell at you or bash your heads together or just strangle you!" I yelled out with my hands knotted in my hair. They had gotten frizzy coz of the stress caused by my idiotic friends.

"What were you thinking going out this late out to Hagrid's? That too without me? Was it to ask about Flamel? Wait don't answer that. And you met Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback? Was it pretty? Of course it was. But you dimwits lost 50 points each. That's like 300 points. Gosh Harry! Do you have a magnet on your head that attracts trouble?"

"Why are you putting it on me? Hermione and Ron were there too. Not to forget Malfoy. And we lost 150 points not 300." Harry muttered angrily.

"His name is Draco and obviously he followed you there. And of course it's 300; 50 times 3 is 300 coz 2 times 5 is 10 and 3 times it is 30 and add the zero from 50 you get 300. I'm so smart. Gosh you don't even know the bas…"

"I think it's…"

"…and Merlin you guys are going to die in detention without me. I'll see what I can do. When do you have your detention?"

"Tomorrow night, after dinner."

"Then that's enough time to see Norbert and get into some trouble."

Getting into trouble was harder than I thought. It seems that everyone loved me and being Cedric Diggory's sister had its downfalls that I could do no wrong. I just got a glare from Professor Snape when I dunked Goyle into his cauldron. He just replied that accidents happen all the time.

My trio of friends were shunned by everyone, including the other houses. Thankfully Cedric didn't comment on it and didn't try to keep away from my friends. I met Nymph, who was stressed out coz of her N.E.W.T.s but she acknowledged my presence. After Transfiguration, I decided to skip History and went to visit Hagrid and Norbert. I knocked twice at his door and I was faced with a solemn face than his usual cheerful one.

"Hagrid! What happened? Where's Norbert? Don't tell me he died! And is that a dog? I already met Fluffy, the cutest thing ever by the way and may I come in?" I looked at him with a bright smile as he stared at me slightly shocked.

"Shouldn't ya be in class?" he opened the door wide and I took a seat in his humble cottage. The other dog jumped upon me, smaller than Fluffy obviously.

"I skipped it. I'm smart naturally like my brother of course, maybe even more. And who's this little guy? Aren't you adorable?" I scratched him under his chin and rubbed his head. The hound liked my face, happily wagging his tail.

"That's Fang. Ain't he like me. Been vid me since a wee baby." He said with fondness.

Suddenly a scratchy squeak was heard and I looked into the basket on the table. It was a baby dragon with small horns and bright greenish scales. It was trying to come out of the basket but failed to do so.

"I swear Hagrid, you have the cutest pets ever." I rubbed Norbert's crown and it cooed happily just like Fang. "But Hagrid, why did you name her Norbert?" I asked while still rubbing the dragon.

"Ms Diggory, how do you know it's a female?"

"Well other than the obvious fact, female dragons have a longer snout and tail. They grow horns before males and even mature faster. Also they can be very vicious if someone ever tries to harm their loved ones, especially their eggs. So Norbert is actually Norberta." I said recollecting everything a certain Weasley said when I asked him about their job.

Hagrid nodded while taking in this important information and took a seat while Norberta cuddled in my arms and nuzzled her face with mine. Guess she likes me. Hagrid and I had some tea and we shared stories with each other. The Ridgeback had fallen asleep after eating few rats and later was being shipped to Romania where Charlie Weasley will be taking care of her. Professor Dumbledore himself was going to take her there.

I left Hagrid's place unwillingly as I wanted to stay for my friend's detention. He slipped that they were going to the Forbidden Forest for detention to look for unicorns as they were being hunted. I wanted to stay but Hagrid sent me off.

I came back to the Gryffindor Tower where everyone was already waiting for me. "Be careful. I'll wait for you in the common room until you come back. And stay together no matter what. I'm sorry I couldn't be there with you all." I straightened Ron's tie and dusted Harry's robes. I hugged them and wished them luck as they were in for a long night.

I changed into my pyjamas, grabbed one of Hermione's muggle books and sat on a comfy chair by the fireplace. I just hope they'll be alright and I start to read, getting lost in the mundane fantasy.

It was quite late at night when the portrait of The Fat Lady opened. I was drooling on the couch and was shaken up abruptly. "What in the Merlin's sake!" I looked around and saw the trio huffing and panting with troubled faces.

"What's wrong?" I asked them as Hermione and Ronald sat down while Harry paced in front of the fireplace. Something definitely went wrong in the Forbidden Forest and I don't know if I wanted to hear about it.
