Chapter 9: The Final Takedown
"You just made your last mistake in your life, boy." Mag-Mel growled, Dan and Drago taking the fight into the dark reverse dimension.
"I think you've got things backwards, Mag-Mel." Dan retorted.
"Is that…" Drago spotted the granite pillar Eva was locked in. "The Main Breadwinner?"
"Today is the day your luck finally runs out, Drago." Razenoid hissed, the two Bakugan meeting head to head.
"We will see who the unlucky one is, Razenoid." Drago retorted.
"Drago!" Dan hurried over, his partner was knocked down by Razenoid's tail.
"Don't worry." Drago assured.
"Ability activate, 'Wonder Superior'!" Dan went into action.
"You'd been mad enough to take us down." Mag-Mel snapped. "Ability activate: 'Negative Shambolic'! Time to disappear."
"Drago!" Dan warned. "Zenthon and Zenthon Titan!" he blinked when the Mechtogan and Mechtogan Titan shielded Drago.
"But how?" Drago was confused. "We didn't summon them."
"We're connected at a core level to our masters." Zenthon explained. "It is that connection that enabled to New Vestroia Queen to transport us."
"What good is a Mechtogan with its own free will?" Mag-Mel growled. "Which is further proof that you are doomed to suffer defeat."
"Come, Dreadeon and Razen Titan." Razenoid, too summoned his Mechtogan and Mechtogan Titan.
"I'm going to take you down." Mag-Mel swore. "And as the final blow, I'm going to make you watch as I destroy Earth."
"What is your problem, Mag-Mel?" Dan demanded. "What have these people ever done to you? Why can't you just leave them alone?"
"Such weak and pathetic creatures." Mag-Mel scoffed. "Consider this payback; what better way to destroy your enemy than to destroy that they treasure the most? The sooner you realize anger and hatred is what fuels us, the better you would be to battle. Dan Kuso, when we came into contact with the power of the Sacred Orb, these characteristics were magnified; it caused us to undergo a type of metamorphosis. Our power and hunger for these things increased so much, just as our hearts hardened, so did our exteriors."
"That's it." Dan hissed. "No more of your destruction. This ends now! Ability activate: 'Dragon Maximum Striker'!"
"Ability activate: 'Hyper Meteor Destruction'!" Mag-Mel countered.
"That's a lot of energy." Drago remarked, the two attacks clashing with each other.
"You're so weak it's embarrassing, Drago." Razenoid taunted, having knocked Drago to the ground with an energy wave, Mag-Mel doing to same with Dan.
"Funny, I thought you'd be more of a challenge, Kuso." Mag-Mel remarked, Dreadeon and Razen Titan taking down their opponents.
"You're looking pretty shaky." Razenoid sneered.
"Nonetheless, we admire your resilience." Mag-Mel added. "Too bad it won't be enough!"
"Ability activate: 'Wonder Superior'!" Dan countered the combined attacks of the three Bakugan.
"Finish them now!" Mag-Mel ordered, the coalesced energy beam overpowering Drago's attack and sending the Dragonoid onto the ground.
Zenthon and Zenthon Titan cut in, blocking off the unison attack.
"Zenthon Titan and I will come together and unleash the rest of our energy to defeat them and hopefully, the energy surge will destroy the Main Breadwinner as well." Zenthon informed its creators.
"Wait guys!" Dan protested, Drago shielding his partner from the pending blast.
"Do you see all the residual battle energy, Razenoid?" Mag-Mel inquired. "Absorb it all and make it grow and show them your true might."
"Got any ideas on how to beat that?" Drago asked, as Razenoid grew oversized.
"Working on it." Dan replied. "Ability activate: 'Wonder Superior'!"
"All of your efforts are futile!" Razenoid scoffed, the attack leaving no even a scratch on him.
"Are you really that delusional to think you can beat me when I possess the ultimate power, Kuso?" Mag-Mel snorted. "How ironic that you've given me the energy that will be the root of you downfall."
"But what we gave, we can take away." Léarin declared.
"Queen." Drago looked at the freed Goddess.
"Léarin is right." Dan got to his feet. "You'll never defeat us. Not in a million years."
"I'm going to enjoy burying you alive." Razenoid chuckled.
"'Hyper Meteor Destruction'!" Mag-Mel played his card.
"Why do you keep resisting the inevitable?" Razenoid chided. "There is no happy ending for you here."
"I'm not going to let you take any element from Bakugan Battling and useit for such evil purposes." Drago declared.
"You're not going to demolish everything we've built." Dan swore.
"You and Mag-Mel may share a bond with us, but that's nothing what exists between me and the other Brawlers." Léarin added.
"Nothing is going to tear us apart." Dan snapped. "So get ready, we're going to take that power back from you."
"You were never worthy enough to possess it." Drago agreed and he and Dan ignited the powers of the Gate and Key.
"It doesn't matter." Razenoid snorted. "Whatever show you have, won't be enough to take me down."
"What?" Mag-Mel gaped, Razenoid's attack having no effect on Drago who had once again evolved into Fusion Dragonoid. "Are you trying to tell me that your hubris alone was enough for you to evolve, yet again? Whatever the case, your transformation is fake and will do nothing to stop us."
"Not a chance, Mag-Mel." Dan retorted.
"None of the powers you have is your own." Léarin declared, now donning her Holy Kamui Robe. "It's all been hijacked, so it's going to fail you."
"Silence fools!" Razenoid snapped. "You're no longer the most powerful Bakugan, Drago. I am! So stop clinging to the past and accept your destiny. It's over for you!"
"You were never better than me, Dharak." Drago shot back.
"How dare you call him by his old name." Mag-Mel growled. "Dharak is gone, only Razenoid exists. You're going to pay for your insolence. What?" he gaped, Razenoid's rapid-fire blasts having no effect on Drago.
"Hold still, you little insect." Razenoid snapped, Drago taking to the air and dodging the Darkus Bakugan's attacks. "You're making this harder on yourself."
"Time to show them our full power." Drago declared.
"Hit it!" Dan gave the cue and Drago released his attack.
"My powers…" Razenoid exclaimed, his armor starting to crack. "This can't be happening. I can't lsoe to these puny rodents. It's impossible! I cannot be defeated!"
"It's over, Barodius!" Léarin tossed the Rod of Asclepius into Mag-Mel's chest, shattering the Gate emblem, just as Drago's attack washed over Razenoid.
"I'm not sure how." Mag-Mel muttered. "But you've defeated me once again, Kuso. But still, your victory will be short-lived. I'll release the immediate and uncontrolled vast amount of energy I've collected. This spells disaster and the end for you. So, once again, you've caused your own downfall. It's time for us to fade away." With that, he let loose the collected energy contained within his armor.
"Always underestimating the power of the Peace Goddess." Léarin sighed, the black armband melting away just as Mag-Mel was vanquished. Bringing forth the 'Ankh of Life' she teleported all three of them out of the reverse dimension before it exploded.
"Look, over there!" Marucho pointed to the distance, Trister having taken him into the air to search.
"Drago." Dan peered open his eyes. "What happened?"
"I'm not sure." Drago admitted. "But look."
"Guess Mag-Mel never expected me to pull this trick." Léarin grinned, the glowing 'Ankh of Life' floating above her cupped palms. "Dan, Drago." She smiled. "Once again, the both of you have saved this world. And for that, I thank you."
"Home sweet home." Dan leapt out of Drago's palm once they landed.
"It sure does feel good to be back." Drago agreed. "In fact, better than ever."
"And the fact that you've evolved again has absolutely nothing to do with it." Eva quipped.
"I see you still have your sense of humour." Shun grinned, pulling his lover into a hug, the others gathering around Dan and bombarding him with questions. "Just warn me the next time you try something like that."
"No promises." Eva kissed his cheek.
