Chapter 9
Wally let out a gasp of air as he felt a fist ram into his stomach. Hal was really pushing him to be able to control the powers of the Ring. Hal had told the speedster that he wouldn't be going easy on him and that his training would be just as tough as Kilowog's was. Boy, was Hal right. Wally was sporting more bruises than he had ever gotten even when he lived with his father. But Wally knew that these bruises were not done in anger but in preparation of fighting to defend those he cared about.
"Focus, Wally. If you don't focus your mind than you will never be able to get your ring to work. You to be able to think on a whim. I know that you can do that with your speed but have a Lantern Ring is completely different. If your mind is clouded with doubt than you will not be able to use the will of the Ring." Hal shouted as he sent an attack towards someone that he thought of as a nephew. It hurt the test pilot to be so rough with Wally but Hal knew that he had to be rough in order for Wally to fully gain control of the Lantern Ring.
Wally growled at his uncle figure. Hal was really being rough on him but he knew that Hal was only doing what he did because he cared. The young speedster knew that he had to step up his training.
The two Green Lanterns continued to train unaware that they were being watched by someone who was curious about the newest Green Lantern. The figure watched with great interest from his place in the bushes. Ever since he had met the young human on Oa, he had been amazed at what Wally had gone through in his early life. The abuse Wally had suffered from the hands of someone that was supposed to care and take care of you. Instead Wally was beaten by his father for no reason at all.
The figure could tell that Wally had that makings of a great Lantern even if he was a Green. The figure than watched Hal tell Wally after some time that training was done for the day and that it was time to get something to eat. The figure watched as the two Lanterns left that training field and headed in the East direction which the figure followed a distance behind.
By the time Hal and Wally had arrived at Mt. Justice it was almost dark. Wally used the Zetas to get into the Mountain while Hal headed home. The figure that was following could tell that the device that the Greens used to get into the Mountain would not let him in. So the figure just surrounded himself with a blue light that allowed him to mold himself into the mountain.
It took a few minutes for the figure to reach a area that had been hollowed out. Once the figure reached the hollowed out area he was surrounded by teenagers with various weapons pointed at him.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" A teen with a shaved head asked as he pointed a sword made of water at the intruder's face.
Before the figure could say anything, Wally came back into the room and saw who his teammates were pointing their weapons at.
"Razer?"
The figure now know as Razer gave a weak smile as an arrow came closer to his face.
"What are you doing here?" Wally asked as he pushed his way through his friends to get to the Blue Lantern who was dressed in his normal clothes.
"You know him Kid Flash?" Aqualad asked as he leveled his water-bearer slightly away from the alien Lantern.
"Yeah. This is Razer. The guy I was telling you about that helped me when I was on Oa and the one that Hal said sounded like an older me only slightly more angrier." Wally replied as he got a glare from Razer. "What? It's true. You do sound like an angrier version of me."
"Ha ha. Do you mind having your friends put away their weapons. Or did they forget that I am a member of the Blue Lantern Corps and am just as strong as a Green Lantern." Razer pointed out as he crossed his arms and slightly glared at the youngest Green Lantern.
"It's okay guys. You can trust him. Besides if he wanted to, he could take all of you out without breaking a sweat." Wally told his teammates with a grin on his face. The speedster had seen Razer fight and Wally knew that Razer was holding back when he fought some of the younger Green Lanterns.
The team removed their weapons from striking distance but did not put them away.
"Like I asked before, what are you doing here?" Wally asked as he helped Razer off of the floor. Wally knew the reason why Razer had been almost attacked. It was because he was dressed in his civilian clothing. Given the fact that the team had almost been killed by Red Lanterns just a few days go, everyone was still on edge.
"To answer your Question. The Guardians detected a large amount of negative energy coming from this sector and I volunteered to check it out. As soon as I arrived I found that the negative energy was gone. I thought that maybe I could check up on you and see how you were doing as everyone on Oa knows about your little light show a few days ago thanks to Jordan." Razer answered and smiled at the groan that Wally gave out.
"Great! After everything I did to make the Green Lanterns not to think of me as Nuallan now that have more reason to think of me as Nuallan. Thanks to Uncle Hal's big mouth." Wally griped out and left the room in a huff.
"That went well." Robin pointed out.
"I would have thought that Baywatch would be overjoyed with all of the attention he was getting." Artemis said confused. Wally was known for wanting to be the center of attention all the time. So why was this a problem.
"Think of it this way young archer. How would you feel if people only saw you for something that happened in the past or in a past life? Many of the Lanterns do not see Wally as Wally. They see Wally as Nuallan. Wally has been working very hard to get the Green Lanterns to see him as him and not as Nuallan." Razer explained as he knew that the blond archer that asked the question was Artemis who he knew was the daughter of villains.
"I see your point." Artemis replied. She knew what it was like for people see her not for herself but as her father who trained her and her sister.
"Now you understand why Wally was upset." The non Blue Lantern said.
"Perhaps you should tell us what happened on Oa." Kaldur said politely. He was curious as to what had happened on Oa to Wally who seemed to be more focused on what was going on around him. The gilled teen figured that it may have something to do with Wally now being a Green Lantern.
Razer nodded as he was shown a seat on the couch where as soon as he sat down told the teens what had happened on Oa.
"I could see Flash wanting to murder Hal." Robin said after Razer explained what had happened to Wally. The Boy Wonder knew that Flash was more protective of Wally than Batman was of him.
"Yes, it seemed that Wally's uncle was very protective of his nephew. I could see the devotion Barry had for Wally who was doing everything in his power to convince everyone that he was not Nuallan." Razer told the group.
"What about you?" Superboy asked.
"I wasn't a member of ANY Lantern Corps when Nuallan was alive. I have only heard of him through stories and tales. I have never even seem a picture of him until Wally arrived and they showed him a picture of Nuallan and with the exception of the freckles and the non pointed ears, he's a spitting image of Nuallan who from stories I have heard was a pain but was that first one in and last one out in a battle. He was very loyal and was not afraid to be blunt. Nuallan got his Ring by saving a little girl from a collapsing building. He was very against being a Green Lantern much like Wally was but over time Nuallan came to understand that he was chosen for a reason as was Wally." Razer explained.
"I just can't believe that Wally is a Green Lantern. Well, I can believe that part that Wally was stubborn in believing about reincarnation but that fact that he's really the reincarnation of the Green Lanterns greatest hero. But then again if you would have said that I would have been part of the Covert Op team of the Justice League a few years ago, I would have never believe you." Artemis told everyone.
The group of teenagers and Razer talked for a little bit more about what had happened on Oa. Razer really wanted to know more about Wally and who he was when he was with his friends and teammates. The Blue lantern already knew that Wally had been abused by his father when he was younger but had a feeling that his teammates other than Robin knew about the abuse. So Razer had no intention of letting the teens know what had happened to their teammate when he was a child.
"I would like to know more about Wally. I grew fond of him when he was on Oa as he was trying to be something that he was not. Just like I was trying not to be a Red Lantern as I was one once but was tricked into being one when my wife was killed." Razer explained.
"Wally is a bit of a clown and likes to flirt but I can truly say that he would die for anyone of us. He very loyal to his friends and family. For example when Artemis joined the team after Red Arrow left the team, Wally stayed loyal to Red Arrow and tried to get him back on the team. But over time Wally did come to respect Artemis as a teammate and friend." Aqualad told the Blue Lantern.
"I have to agree with Kaldur on that part. He did everything in his power to make me feel welcomed when I first came to Earth. He did what I thought was flirting but when I started dating Conner he stopped the flirting and congratulated me on my relationship and told Conner if he did anything to hurt me or make be cry, he would regret it. I began to realize that Wally was very protective of me due to me being slightly naive on Earth customs." M'gann told her part.
"When I first met Wally, I attacked him but after I came to my sense, he was the one that helped me become more human. He even defended me against Superman when he was being a ass which is the word I believe that is the right term. Wally is loyal to a fault and I'll be truthful a bit of a pain but he would always be there for you." Conner said.
"Wally was the first one to see me as me and not as Batman's sidekick. At first Wally and I didn't get along and I think that was do to the fact that I was used to everyone not seeing me as a kid but a sidekick. Wally is a few years older than me. He saw me as a kid and processed to yell at me when I acted like I was all that. Wally told me that it was okay to be a kid when the time called for it but I didn't need to act like I was better than everyone else do to the fact that I was the first sidekick. Wally and I became friends that night and have been friends ever since. Wally is not afraid to tell the truth even if the truth will hurt you. That is what I like most about Wally." Robin told Razer. He valued Wally as his first true friend who saw Dick Grayson and not the ward of Bruce Wayne.
"When I first met Wally, I thought that he was a clown and didn't need to be a part of the team but over time I began to realize that it was me that shouldn't have been apart of the team as everyone was willing to let the past go in what ever they had. I come from a different life than my teammates which I will tell you guys my secret. I am not really Green Arrow's niece. I'm really the daughter two assassins. My mother decided to leave that profession and raise me but things happened. My father is Sportsmaster and my sister is Cheshire. Any way Wally figured that part out and told me that he knew that I wasn't Green Arrow's niece but he would wait until I was ready to tell you guys. I was so afraid of being treated different because I am the daughter of a major villain." Artemis told everyone. She just knew that the people that she had come to know as a family would never let her be on the team again.
"And your point being Young One?" Razer asked as he looked at the blond archer. "I was a former Red Lantern that took the lives of several Green Lanterns. Hal Jordan saw something in me and let me live. I thought that I could never live with what I did but I did. I let the past be the past. The past will always hurt but you have to let it go in order to live your life. The fact that you let your teammates know of your past shows great courage." Razer told the blond archer. He could see why Wally liked her. The female archer in front of him had a good heart and was strong fighter but also had a past just like Wally. They both had suffered from abuse from their fathers but learned to over come their pasts.
"Razer is right Artemis. You should not be ashamed off your past. Instead embrace it as it did make you who you are. You choose your own way to follow instead of what was told you should follow. Besides my friend. You are not the only one that is that offspring of a villain. My father is Black Manta. Many people shunned my mother and I because of who my father was but King Orin gave me a chance. Thus I proved myself to My King and I soon gained everyone's respect but I know that I will never fully gain their trust. But that does not bother me one bit. I am who I am and nothing will ever change that." Kaldur told his archer friend. The Gilled teen felt that it was better if Artemis and his team knew the truth about his heritage.
"So you see Artemis, it is okay to have a bad past but you do not let your past control you. You have to have Hope and courage as well as will power." Razer told Artemis who just looked at him.
"You guys are really okay with me being the daughter of a supervillain?"
"Artemis, you are not your family and will never be. You are you. Just like everyone is who they need to be." Kaldur told his friend.
"I can see why Wally talked about his team like he did on Oa. You have a bond that is unbreakable." Razer told the teens.
"Thank you. It took a lot of work but we knew each others moves inside and how and now know how to help each other. Some of us had been a team since we first became heroes. But I won't lie, it was hard to let others in to the team that we had but we did and now like you said have a bond that it unbreakable. I will admit that we do have rough spots but doesn't everyone." Robin told Razer as he remembered when the team was first formed. Robin, Wally and Aqualad and Roy had a bond that still exist to this day even if Roy went solo the red haired Archer was still there for the team.
"I know that feeling. Kilowog refused to trust me when Hal Saved my life and to this day I do not think that he will fully trust me but he does respect me." Razer told the teens.
"So what are we going to do about Wally?" Kaldur asked, concern was showing on his face.
"My advice for you is not to treat him any different than you have been. He had enough trouble with the Green Lanterns thinking he's Nuallan. Plus don't let his doubt take over him as that will weaken his powers as doubt is an enemy of Will power. Basically be his friend no matter what happens and don't always rely on his Ring to help you as he wants to be seen as Kid Flash not as a Green Lantern. " Razer said.
Just than the Zetas activated and announced that arrival of Flash and Batman. Needless to say that the Teens were going to be in for a long talk when Batman noticed Razer right of the bat to coin a phrase.
"What is going on and who is this?" Batman growled out as he saw that Kid Flash was missing. Batman saw Wally as his own child much like he saw Dick as he own. There was something about Wally when Batman first met the red haired speedster. Wally didn't show any fear of Batman instead became fast friends with Robin. Wally also figured out who Batman was under the mask but kept it a secret from everyone.
"Razer, what on earth are you doing here and is Wally okay?" Flash asked in worried tone.
"Wally is fine other than having a little bit of an issue with the Green Lanterns STILL not seeing him as Wally West but only Nuallan. To answer your other question. The Guardians detected a large energy source coming from Earth. I volunteered to check it out and it also let me check up on Wally as I know about his past since he told me about it on Oa." Razer told the older speedster giving slight codes so that Flash would know that he knew that Wally was abused by his father.
Flash knew what Razer was talking about with Wally's past. "Batman, this is Razer. He's a member of The Blue Lantern Corps which their powers are based on Hope. He helped Wally on Oa." Flash told the glaring Dark Knight.
"I assure you that I mean no harm. If you do not believe me, you may ask Hal Jordan as he was the one who saved me from a dark path." The slightly fanged Lantern replied. He knew that Batman would not trust him at all giving the Hero's persona.
Batman gave the Blue Lantern a calculating look. The Dark Knight wasn't sensing any evil or mistrust from the Lantern. But that didn't mean that Razer wasn't dangerous to the teens. But something told the bat themed hero that Razer could be trusted as he had taken off his Ring and handed it to Flash to hold.
Next chapter: Wally loses his temper with the team and some Red Lanterns arrived and try to get Wally to join them. Does Wally join the Red Lanterns or does he fight them? Find out in the next chapter.
Ideas are really need as well as names of some of the red lanterns in the show as I don't have that DVD of the show and don't have access to the names of the Red Lanterns other than the leader. Thanks
REVIEWS WOULD BE GREAT. THANKS
