MoonLily awakens slowly with a massive headache. She doesn't remember when she fell asleep, but judging by the light shining through the curtains and onto her mask she assumes she slept through the entire night. She looks around slowly, she seems to be in an old styled room, wood for the walls floor and ceiling and she's in a soft bed, it looks ragged and worn with patches of fabric sown onto the covers to patch up where some holes might have been. She must be in Credit's house. She doesn't remember walking inside though. The last thing she remembers is arriving at Credit's garden and walking her chewnicorn through the front gate, everything gets fuzzy after that.
Dastardos has his head resting on the bed next to her, his hand lightly gripping onto hers in his sleep. "The only reason why he would be like that is if something bad happened…" She mutters to herself, thinking out loud. What is it that could of happened? She doesn't remember a thing. She thinks for only a short moment before her train of thought is lost by Dastardos waking up. His head jerks up as if someone just yelled in his ear, he looks around, blinking in an attempt to properly wake himself up before looking at MoonLily to make sure that she's fine. She, however, is more concerned about him than herself, as per usual. "Are you okay?" they both drowsily ask each other in unison. MoonLily sighs and smiles a little bit, Dastardos simply waits for an answer. "I've got a bit of a headache but other than that I'm okay," MoonLily states quietly.
Dastardos lets out a sigh of relief, glad that she can hear him again, and to be told that she's fine is comforting news. He rubs his eyes to try and wake himself up a bit more since he only fell asleep half an hour ago. Not that he's going to tell MoonLily that. The gardener sits up slowly so she can see the room and Dastardos a bit better, and then asks him again, her voice being drowsy but still shows her concern, "so, are you alright? You woke up weirdly…"
"I feel better seeing you a lot better than you were."
What's that supposed to mean? She raises a brow and sits up a bit more, "could you please explain what you mean by that?"
"Don't you remember?" Das asks in both confusion and worry. MoonLily shakes her head slowly, holding a hand up to the back of her head, "at least, I don't think so, I had a really messed up dream though."
"I don't think it was a dream…" He says as he gets up to stand beside the bed. He opens his mouth to say more but the door is swung open with a very distressed Leafos rushing in, cutting him off before he can say any more. "Oh my goodness thank gosh you're okay Mil'Mil we were SO worried about you!" She hugs her tightly, "you really freaked everyone out last night!" MoonLily attempts to ask what happened but Leafos is already off on her spiel about how worried everyone was and proceeds to tell her half of the story as to what happened. MoonLily only manages to put together half of what she's saying as she's talking way to quickly far too early in the morning for MoonLily to pick up everything. Dastardos firmly grips onto Leafos' shoulders and makes her take a few steps back away from Mily, his voice, at the very least, attempting to hold a calming tone, "breathe Leafos, it's okay." The wildly emotional younger sibling fans her eyes with her hands and takes several deep breaths until she's calmed down. "Better?" Das asks and Leafos nods several times and decides to just sit on the end of the bed as to not get over emotional again.
Seedos and Credit enter the room shortly after Leafos calms down. "Hey, how are you feeling?" Credit asks quietly and Mily gives a simple shrug, "I'm feeling alright." Seedos leans against the wall near the bed to be a bit more comfortable, "That's good, but I'm still really confused as to what happened last night."
Leafos nods and directs her attention to MoonLily, "yeah, what happened exactly?"
MoonLily looks down at the blankets and back up at the people around her, "I… um…"
"Forgot to take your tablets didn't you?" Credit says, raising a brow and gaining two confused looks from Seedos and Leafos. "Tablets? As in.. pills?" Seedos looks from MoonLily to Credit with a questioning stare.
"Yeah…" MoonLily sighs, "that's probably what happened."
"No that is what happened," Credit states with a nod, "after ya friend Vivleon and I managed to get you to swallow the medication you finally stopped spasmming like a trapped doenut on a railroad track, which was a relief since you were already out like a light a minute or so after we found you."
"And by the looks of how you are now it's obvious that it worked," Das pipes in, putting his hands in his pockets. MoonLily sighs and nods quietly thinking about the situation.
"Mil', why didn't you take them when you needed to?" Leafos asks, reaching over to rest her hand on MoonLily's out of worry and to comfort the other woman.
"I ran out… I thought I had enough but I guess not…"
"Why didn't you get more from Patch before we left?" Seedos questions quietly.
MoonLily sighs and goes to explain but is cut off by Leafos asking another question, "Why is it that you need them in the first place?"
MoonLily sighs again, "Well, may as well start from the beginning of it I guess…" She glances up at Credit quietly, "I'm sorry but, is it alright if you leave the room for now?"
He nods, "it's all good. I understand, I'll be waiting with what you ordered out the front." He politely leaves and MoonLily begins letting them all know. They all listen carefully, including Dastardos, he knew she needed to take them, but he didn't bother to ask why. It didn't really cross his mind until now and it bothers him that he didn't ask. It bothers him more that she didn't tell him anyway.
"Stardos, the day you went missing, everyone was freaking out and I was no exception. I went to your garden to try and find any sighs as to where you might have been only to end up right in the middle of a Ruffian attack. They completely destroyed your garden and spread this sour, toxin everywhere to kill the grass and crack the ground. They used these red barrels to take it around the place and just dumped it once they were done. I tried to get them away from it but there was just too many of them. They grabbed me and managed to stuff me inside a half empty toxic barrel and rolled me into the swamp. I don't know how long I was in there for exactly, banging on the lid trying to get out. The gas from the liquid made me pass out and Patch said I nearly drowned in it. It was lucky that Bart managed to find me and get me out in time; otherwise I could have died in that thing. It turns out that I had taken in that much of the sour toxins from breathing it, drowning in it and soaking it through my skin that it permanently latched onto my blood cells and started traveling around my body. It doesn't affect my heart or lungs anymore but it still ferociously attacks my brain. The pills can't get rid of it completely but they're strong enough to keep it at bay and let me act how I normally would. Patch couldn't supply me with the right medication I needed to help my body battle the toxins because he didn't fit the correct criteria since he's just a local village doctor so he gave me the information I needed to have the supplies delivered to my garden since the closest supplier was two and a half days travel away. When the tablets begin to wear off the toxin gets at my brain and makes me act over emotional, the worst part is, is that I don't notice that I'm acting different, so I don't realize that they're wearing off unless I'm keeping constant track of the time. The next thing that happens is I hallucinate and see really creepy stuff, after that most of my senses block off so I can't hear, smell, taste or feel anything, I get all numb and can't move then I pass out. Credit is able to sell them because his dad is one of the boatmen that ships the pills across the island to the only two places where they're legal, since they're such strong pills it's illegal to have them without a doctors certificate… and since Patch isn't qualified enough to be able to store them I don't actually have that certificate… meaning that I'm currently breaking the law in having possession of such strong drugs. I… I'm sorry I didn't tell you guys… I was just paranoid of what you might have thought if you knew I was doing something illegal…"
"It shouldn't count as being illegal if you need them!" Leafos frowns and gives MoonLily a giant hug, "it doesn't matter as long as you're safe! I can't believe that Ruffians did such a horrible thing to you!" She managed to hold the tears back throughout the story but couldn't stop them any longer and cries on MoonLily's shoulder. Seedos puts a comforting hand on both Mily and his sister's shoulders, "We don't think any less of you MoonLily… we just wish you could have told us earlier…"
Dastardos stands there in utter silence, thoughts racing through his mind. This happened to MoonLily because he was missing. This happened to her all because he made a stupid decision and trusted Pester. MoonLily nearly DIED all because HE WASN'T THERE. He leaves the room without a sound and heads to behind the house and sits on the fence on the edge of the garden. He feels sick, like he's going to vomit up all the guilt that's weighing down in his stomach, his head hurt from staying up all night next to her, trying to keep her safe and well and it was the consequences of something that he had done. He is dead, sour, can't spend any long periods of time with his siblings, can't have his own garden, future or family and he nearly caused the death of his best friend all because he went missing. He leans forward a bit and quickly covers his mouth with a hand. He swears he's going to vomit. He shuts his eyes tightly but that causes the tears to run down his mask.
How could he have done such a thing all those years ago? And then let it happen again when Mily owned the garden? He gurgles and wheezes but he doesn't spew, which makes the feeling even worse when he swears that the vomit is right there in the back of his mouth, he can basically taste it but it just won't come out. It doesn't go away and the weight of guilt and regret just gets heavier and heavier, so much so that he has to get off the fence and sit on the ground. The tears burning his eyes as he sits there, his forehead presses against his knees and his arms wrapped tightly around his legs and the only thing going through his mind over and over again, what have I done?
