Sorry for the long wait! I've been very busy since I've found out I'm moving states. But here's the next chapter!
I don't own Star Wars.
Leia was lying down in a tiny room that she had claimed as hers for the trip. Every night she would use this time to think about Han. Neither Luke or Leia had forgotten about him, they both missed him, but Leia could only use this time to think about him.
What was he doing? Did he realize she was gone, or had no time passed in the future? Is he still trying to get out of going to that conference?
Leia turned on her side and felt like running for Han and giving him a big hug as they made their usual jokes. She knew of course this couldn't happen right now. She also desperately felt like talking to someone about it. No one in this time knows about specific people they knew in the future besides Ahsoka, and even she didn't know about Han.
There was a knock on her door and it opened to reveal Luke whispering, "Leia, come on I have to show you something!" Luke sounded very excited and Leia jumped up.
Luke put his finger to his lips, "But be very quiet. I think I can cover our presences with the Force." Leia was curious, but didn't say anything as she followed Luke. When they had reached the hallway, they stopped and looked around the corner inside. They saw Anakin flying with one hand and using the other to hold one of Padme's hands.
Padme sighed, "I love this. Being together and flying through the stars."
Anakin nodded, "I do too. Being amongst the stars is much better than looking at them in the atmosphere of a planet I think."
Padme smiled, "My parents used to tell me about how they would go out every night and look at the stars when they first became a couple. Whenever they talked about about it they would get this dreamy look in their eyes."
Anakin looked at her and leaned in closer to her, "The same dreamy look I have in my eyes when I see you?"
Padme leaned towards him too, "Yep, and the same look in my eyes I'm sure I get when I look at you." Leia focused on her parents' faces. Both had relaxed smiles and had just been gazing into each others eyes. Then they both leaned in and kissed each other, leaving Leia to wonder how this could be Vader.
When they pulled apart Padme said, "Ani, I wish we could always be like this, acting like a husband and wife should."
"I know, and I wish the same thing." He gently squeezed his wife's hand, "Many times I feel like walking away from the Order to be with you."
Padme sadly shook her head and placed her other hand on his cheek, "But you're the Chosen One... and it's your dream to be a Master Jedi."
"True, but I'd prefer to be with my wife. If I could quit without shaming you and your career I would." He said his next sentence slowly, wanting to make sure his words sunk in, "I would choose this marriage over the Order." Both twins were completely hypnotized by the scene.
From the corner of the cockpit, out of the twins sight, C-3PO turned on and saw the scene before him, "Master Anakin!" He ran over to him, "As the driver you must keep both hands at the steering and looking 12 seconds ahead to where we're going! Not paying attention to the flying task could be disastrous!" The two time travellers thought it best to leave at that moment.
Back in Leia's room the twins sat in silence. Both were awestruck by what they had seen and weren't sure what to say about it.
Finally Luke broke the silence, "That look that they were talking about is in your eyes when you're with Han. It's in his eyes too."
Leia sighed, "I miss him."
"I know."
The ship with the chancellor had landed and he was walking towards his residence with Ahsoka and Obi-Wan at his side.
"Thank you both so much for escorting me to Naboo," said the chancellor.
Obi-Wan replied, "It was our pleasure." Ahsoka didn't say anything.
"I think I can take care of myself from here on out. Thanks again." Obi-Wan and Ahsoka bowed before Palpatine entered his home. They walked away in silence. That is until Obi-Wan broke it when he was sure he was out of earshot from anyone.
"Before we left the temple I had a lovely chat with Yoda."
"Oh?" She was a bit worried about what they talked about, but she didn't show it on her face.
"Yes. During out chat he said that he wanted you to tell me something." He raised his eyebrow at her.
"What about?"
"He said it was something about where Luke and Leia are from. Care to explain?"
Ahsoka still refused to look anxious, "What exactly did he say?"
"That he believed I should know about Luke and Leia's past and what that means for our future."
Ahsoka sighed, "I'd like to talk to Luke and Leia first. I don't want to just give away information about them."
The ship came into Naboo's atmosphere and was preparing to land. Luke was flying because Anakin was tired, especially after C-3PO's two-hour-long lesson on distracted flying, and he knew Luke was a good pilot. As expected Luke landed the ship smoothly.
The Skywalkers and two droids exited the ship to be greeted by a gungan. This gungan cheered and ran to hug Anakin and Padme. He ended up tripping and falling on his face. Artoo rolled over to check on him and made a series of beeps and squeaks. He was probably asking if he was okay.
"Meesa good, meesa good." The gungan stood up and ran over to Anakin and Padme and hugged them, "Itsa good to see you!" He let them go and gasped when he saw the twins. "Yousa gotsa clones!"
For a moment everyone was confused. The time travellers then realized he was referring to them.
Leia smiled and shook her head, "Oh, no we're not clones."
Jar Jar looked from Luke and Leia to their parents, "Yousa sure?"
Anakin stepped answered, "Yes Jar Jar, we're sure."
Padme too stepped forward, "Jar Jar, this is Luke and Leia. Luke and Leia, this is Representative Binks."
Jar Jar waved at Luke and Leia before speaking, "Yousa must know your family will come soon."
Leia tried to hide her excitement, "What's your family like Padme?"
"They're lovely people!" answered Padme, "You'll love them!"
"They are rather nice," agreed Anakin.
Leia asked Anakin, "You've met them?"
"Yeah, whenever I come over they treat me like family." Then again, I am part of their family, Anakin thought.
Later Anakin was walking over a bridge at the residence Padme had invited him, Luke, and Leia to stay at. He stopped and looked toward the courtyard to see Leia punching a practice dummy.
Some sort of force had made Anakin walk toward her. When he was at the courtyard he used the Force to push back the dummy about 10 feet. A surprised Leia turned around.
"I find the Force easier to use."
Leia simply walked over to the dummy and began again.
"What are you doing anyway, Leia?"
"Well, if someone's after us I want to be prepared if I don't have a gun. Besides, I needed some time to think."
Anakin raised an eyebrow, "Why not use the Force?"
"What do you mean?"
"You have a strong connection to the Force, so why not use that?" Leia wasn't a big fan of using the Force like her brother. One of the reasons being she didn't want anything about her to connect to her father. Or was that not a reason anymore?
Leia turned around and gave another true reason, "I was clueless I've had any connection until recently."
Anakin was surprised, "With your amount of power you had no idea there was something special about you?!"
"Well, some mysterious things happened growing up, but my father had always had an explanation for it." She went back to practicing.
"Do you know how to use the Force?"
"Not really. Luke's offered to teach me before, but I've handled myself without it before."
"As far as you know."
"I'm sure." Leia walked away from the dummy and sat on a nearby bench, "I've defended myself from a hutt without using it."
Anakin's hands clenched, "What?!"
"I've defended myself from a hutt before," she repeated, "I became one's slave for..."
"You became a slave?!" he exclaimed in anger. Taken aback Leia merely nodded her head. "Oh for the love of...!"
"Calm down, Anakin! Any louder and the entire planet will hear you! It wasn't a big deal!"
This seemed to just make him angrier, "Wasn't a big deal?!"
Leia was still shocked by the exploded temper. "Yeah, everything turned out fine in the end. I had accomplished my mission without any serious injuries, all of my friends were safe..."
"What even happened?!" That was the second time he interrupted her.
Now, Leia felt annoyed, "Han was captured by a very powerful hutt. We had to save him."
"Han?!"
Leia sighed, "My friend, now my boyfriend. He failed to pay the hutt..."
"He owed a hutt money?!" Anakin wondered how stupid this guy was.
"He used to be a smuggler working with him."
"And you became a slave to save him?!"
She shot up, "I'd do it again! What would you have done in my position?!"
"I wouldn't have gotten involved with this Han in the first place!"
"He loves me!"
"Then where is he?!" Leia's anger disappeared and was replaced with grief. She knew he was implying that if Han loved her he'd be searching the galaxy for her, but she knew this couldn't be the case. Han was off doing whatever it was he did as a little boy. She sat back down on the bench.
The anger was gone from Anakin too, "Leia?"
"I don't know where he is. He doesn't know where I am."
After a long silence Anakin sat next to her, "I was a slave too."
Leia's shock was back. An anger outburst from Anakin wasn't so unexpected as he would afterall, become Vader. But Anakin being a slave!
"Back on Tatooine my mother and I were slaves. I was freed at the age of nine and my mom was freed years later after I had left to train. Then I saw her for the last time at 19 when she died in my arms. She had been captured by tusken raiders. Luke might have already told you this."
"No... no he hasn't."
"I told Luke about the fate of my mother." Again silence, "I'm really sorry I snapped."
"It's okay Anakin. I'm sorry I even brought this up." Could this be the first time she had ever apologized or forgiven her birth father?
Luke was wandering the grounds alone kicking a pebble along as he went. There was so much for him to think about at the moment and he felt very overwhelmed. He tried to focus more on happier things like how he was about to meet more family members soon.
"Luke!" He turned around and saw his mother jog towards him. "So what do you think of Naboo."
"It's quite beautiful. Much prettier than where I grew up. Tatooine isn't well known for it's lush vegetation or peaceful creatures."
"What about Alderaan? I'm sure you've been there. That's where Leia grew up, right?"
"She grew up there, but I've never been there. She went to Alderaan and lived with a wealthy family. I was sent to Tatooine to live a farmer's life."
"That sounds fair," she responded sarcastically.
"On the bright side I got to live with actual relatives. I don't think Leia's family had any relation to us." Luke felt that something was off, and surprisingly, so did Padme. They silently agreed to go and see what was wrong. They eventually came to the courtyard to find Anakin and Leia sitting on a bench. It seemed like whatever problem had happened disappeared and there was only uncomfortable silence.
Leia broke this silence, "So Anakin, what were your parents like?"
He answered, "My mother was one of the kindest woman you'd ever meet."
Padme agreed, "She was a very kind host during my stay there."
It occurred to Luke that he had never asked about his grandfather, "And your father?"
Anakin answered, "I don't have one." Both twins were confused by this statement.
Leia asked, "What happened?" They both assumed there was a tragic accident where their grandfather was killed or he had left when Anakin was very young.
He shrugged, "I'm not sure how I came to be. My mother had me on her own. I don't have a father at all. The closest thing I've had to a father would have to be Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi who found me and Obi-Wan's mentor."
Loud footsteps approached as a running Ahsoka halted, "Luke, Leia, I need to talk to you about something very important. Come on!" She began to run back from where she came from, Luke and Leia close behind her. Both parents tried to stop them, to figure out what was going on, but they were already gone.
Springpanther: As you can see, Obi-Wan is close to finding out! I've always liked the idea of Luke meeting Qui-Gon. If I can somehow make it fit into the story I would!
Guest: Thank you very much! I hope you liked the family bonding in this chapter!
