AN: Here you go people another chapter of Twin Foxes hope you all enjoy. Season 5 of Teen Wolf has officially started which means I'll probably be pumping out more chapters.
"Aki wake up!" Kira yelled at her sleeping brother who jolted awake.
"What's going on?" Aki asked seeing that Kira was freaking out
"The Nogitsune attacked dad, mom said you would know what to bring." Aki immediately jumped out of bed and raced to his parents' room, he opened up a drawer and grabbed a vial.
"Let's go." He yelled out racing out of the door. He jumped into the car not even noticing that Scott was there. "Hey Scott." Then it hit him, how had he even gotten in bed last night. All he remembered was going after the scroll and seeing Kincaid hit Kira. "We should probably talk about what happened last night."
"Yeah we should." Scott replied "After we help your dad."
The three raced towards the classroom to find Mr. Yukimura unable to breathe and Noshiko trying to help him. "Did you bring it?"
"Yeah here." Aki replied handing the vial to his mother
"What is it?" Kira asked
"Reishi" She replied as she unscrewed the vial and placed one of the mushrooms in her husband's mouth.
"You're not seriously giving dad magic mushrooms are you?" Her dad began to cough violently into a napkin, but then he began to breathe normally.
"Stiles did this?" Scott asked and Noshiko turned to him.
"He wanted the last kaiken. I've kept this near me ever since your friend disappeared." Noshiko said in spite
"Mom, you have to tell us everything." Kira replied and Scott handed her a photo of a soldier, her, and a boy that looked exactly like Akihiko. The three of them were smiling in the photo together.
"Where did you get this?"
"Is it grandma?" Kira asked
"No it's me. Mako, he was my twin brother and it was the Nogitsune that killed him." Noshiko explained as she looked at an old picture of her and her brother.
"So where did the Nogitsune come from?" Kira asked her mother as she tried to swallow the news that she had a dead uncle.
"Isn't it obvious? It came from me." Noshiko turned away and began her story of Oak Creek.
Mako was leaning against the building watching out for MPs patrolling the area while Noshiko was stealing items off the supply truck. He watched his sister steal crates of apples, medicine, and even a baseball. She seemed so light on her feet as if she was dancing through the MPs, and they were just oblivious to what was happening. "I think you've got enough Noshiko." He thought in his mind, and he could see Noshiko smirking mischievously at him.
"You're no fun Mako." She thought back at him, and stuck her tongue out. "Let me have my fun."
"We were supposed to be back by now, the others will be worried. If you take anymore I won't be able to bring it all back anyway."
"Fine." Noshiko made a face at Mako and she snuck past the MPs to her brother as she carried the crate of apples, she pushed the crate into his hands "Here you carry this."
Mako groaned, "And what will you be carrying?"
"This" She replied holding up a baseball
"Wow that must be heavy." Mako bumped into Noshiko slightly "You really think that's smart?"
"Smart no, but it'll help Mitchio."
"I know you want him to feel normal Noshiko, but the facts are we are locked away in an internment camp. He can't be normal." Mako replied trying to convince his sister of the truth.
"I know that, but even if it's just a little I want him to feel at ease."
Mako sat down on his bunk bed and looked around the room to see everyone scrambling to get the new items that Noshiko had stolen. He looked at Noshiko waiting for Mitchio to give him the baseball, and she was just smiling. "You're in a good mood, bet I can guess why." Noshiko turned her head to see her brother smirking at her. "You going to see Mr. Soldier tomorrow right? I'm happy for you, just be careful alright."
"You worry too much Mako. Maybe you need someone to take up your time."
"Great another person to worry about, I got my hands full with you."
"I'm over 800 years old Mako I can take care of myself." Noshiko thought back to her brother in an annoyed tone
"Age does not equal maturity sister." He thought back "I just want you to be safe Noshiko."
"Fine." Noshiko turned her head away "Thank you."
It had been months since they had been locked up in these camps and Mako was growing restless, time just seemed to blend together. He found himself losing track of the days, and he was tired of it all. The only thing that kept him going was his sister Noshiko, twin foxes were rare. He could hear what his sister was thinking and at times he could feel what she felt. He could feel the bullets enter her body, and he lost it. He raced towards the soldiers, and was gunned down but it was not enough to kill him. He fell to the ground in pain, fighting the bullets that entered his body trying to heal his wounds. He looked over to Noshiko, "Noshiko, can you hear me?" He received no reply, he couldn't believe it. His sister was dead, he cursed at himself as he looked at her face.
Mako was laid next to his sister on top of piles of bodies, he had fought off the bullets and he had gained some of his strength back. He moved his hand into his sister's and he whispered, "Jikan." His magic flowed out of his hand and into his sister, he hoped that it would work. He smiled as Noshiko's dead eyes were getting their light back, it had worked. Her body was now healing, he could feel his strength draining from him. It took a lot out of him performing magic. He closed his eyes, as he focused on gaining his strength again.
Noshiko's eyes opened up slowly as she felt the truck rumbling against the pavement. She turned her head to see Reese wrapped up in bandages from being set on fire, she cried seeing this. She wanted to hold his hand, but then she realized her hand was already being held. She looked more closely at the person holding her hand and she gasped, it was Mako. Her eyes filled with more tears as she looked at her brother. She felt the truck stop and she knew it was only a matter of time before she was burned. She prayed to her ancestors to send a Nogitsune that fed off chaos, strife, and pain to avenge her brother and her beloved.
"Reese!" Noshiko yelled out as she watched the corpse of her beloved pull off the head of one of the soldiers. She couldn't believe that the Nogitsune possessed Reese's body rather than hers. She watched as the Nogitsune drove off in the soldier's truck and she pulled herself up from the piles of bodies. She had to get back to the camp, she had to see what the Nogitsune would do.
"Noshiko." She stopped in her tracks, it couldn't be. He was dead, she saw his body. She turned around slowly to see her brother standing up making his way towards her. He brought her into a hug, and she began to cry.
"I thought I lost you Mako." Noshiko cried into her brother's shoulder
Mako shushed her, "It's alright Noshiko. I'm fine. If anything I should be more worried about you. You were the one that was dead."
Noshiko moved away from her brother, "What are you talking about?"
"You were dead Noshiko. I used my magic to bring you back."
"You did what?!" She yelled at him "That means you… You only have one tail left."
"You're worth losing a tail over sister." Mako replied "We're both alive, that's all that matters. Now come on we have to get back to the camp to see what that Nogitsune is up to."
The two headed back to camp and as they climbed up the stairs the scent of blood permeated the air. Mako's mouth widened at the scene of utter chaos, bodies were flung around the courtyard and there was so much blood that it looked like a lake. Mako turned to his sister, "Go get your sword." Noshiko nodded and headed towards the bunks where she hid her sword. Mako walked around the bodies, when he suddenly heard a small cry. Mako quickly looked around the bodies to see that one was still breathing. It was one of the nurses. "Shhhh it'll all be over soon."
"Monster…" The nurse let out "It was a monster."
"I know." Mako sighed "I'm going to kill the monster." He held the nurse's hand "It's alright. You can let go now, just close your eyes and you'll be at peace." The nurse closed her eyes and Mako knew that she was dead once he could no longer feel the pressure from her hand.
"Mako, he's in the basement." He turned to see Noshiko running towards the basement
"Noshiko wait." Mako yelled out to her but she was already speeding towards the basement.
Mako and Noshiko had found the Nogitsune in the basement and had cornered it. Mako grabbed a pipe off of the ground and swung it at the Nogitsune trying to get its attention away from Noshiko as she tried to stab it. Noshiko swung her sword at the Nogitsune but it was effectively dodging her swings along with Mako's. As Noshiko thrusted her sword forward, the Nogitsune swung at her knocking her sword from her hands. She was unarmed and the Nogitsune was relentless in its counterattack. She tried to dodge all of the Nogitsune's swings but eventually the Nogitsune got her. She looked down to see the Nogitsune's fist in her stomach, and her eyes went to her brother's. She could see it in his eyes what he was about to do. "Mako, don't do it."
"If I don't you'll die."
"If you do you'll die. I can't be the cause of your death Mako. I won't be."
"I'm sorry Noshiko, but it's not your choice. Jikan." Time had stopped. Mako looked at the frozen image of his sister and the Nogitsune, and he cried. "I'm so sorry Noshiko." He waved his hands and suddenly his sister was in his place unharmed and he was in hers. "I'll always be with you Noshiko." Mako released his magic and felt the Nogitsune's fist enter his stomach and he groaned in pain. He fell to the ground clutching his stomach with a gaping hole in it, he watched as his sister continued the battle with the Nogitsune. He watched as Satomi clawed the Nogitsune from behind allowing his sister to pierce the Nogitsune with her sword.
Noshiko knelt down next to her brother tears flowing from her eyes, "Don't die. Please don't die Mako. I can't do this without you."
Mako reached for his sister's hand, "You can do this without me Noshiko. You always could, you're grown up now. You don't need me to protect you anymore." Mako coughed out blood
"Mako, I love you." Noshiko said through her tears "You're my brother and I want you to live."
Mako took his hand and wiped the tears from Noshiko's eyes, "I'll always be your brother Noshiko, I'll always be with you. Find happiness Noshiko. I love…" Mako's hand fell and Noshiko's tears began to flow once again. Mako, her brother, was dead.
"A bolt of lightning is exactly what we need right now." Noshiko explained to the kids as she moved the pieces of the sword into place "Excising the Nogitsune from Reese's body shattered the katana, but you can put it back together."
"Why don't you just do it yourself?" Kira asked
"Because I'm not a thunder Kitsune." Kira looked at the sword and back at her mother "Do you trust me?"
"I just found out you're 900 years old. I don't think I'm ever going to trust you again."
"Trust me on this." Noshiko grabbed Kira's hand and held it over the sword. Lightning started to appear in between the cracks of the sword and molded it together. Noshiko picked up the sword and held it out towards Kira "Go ahead it's yours now."
"What if I don't want it?"
"You need it." Noshiko said and she threw the sword at Kira. Kira caught the sword and on reflex swung it. "You see it gives you balance. My power is now yours Kira. If the oni can't stop Stiles you have to. The same as I did. And maybe seek out a wolf to help you."
Scott spoke up, "You didn't tell us anything."
"You want to save Stiles kill him. That's the only way."
Scott turned to Mr. Yukimura, "You agree with this?"
"Sometimes history does repeat itself Scott." He replied
"Only if you don't learn."
"Sometimes even then fate conspires against you."
Scott's phone buzzed from a text letting him know to meet at Derek's loft. "There's a way to save him, there has to be." Scott said to Noshiko and he turned and left with Kira and Aki on his tail.
"I'll take it somewhere safe." Noshiko said to her husband holding up the kaiken.
"That's not what I'm worried about." He turned to face Noshiko "History has not done well with turning children into killers."
"These children played their part in it long before we came back to Beacon Hills. I buried the jar deep within the roots of the Nematon, it was their sacrifice that brought its power back. They let the demon out of its cage."
