His Eyes chapter 10

FYI this isn't the last chapter we have 1 more to go! I came up with a new epilogue!

I don't know where everyone ran off to but I only got one review for chapter 9. So this chapter is for pennydoll for the wounderful review.

Disclaimer: I do not own: The paramedic with the yellow bag, the Avatar, or it's story, or the characters of Avatar.

I'm sorry for the little bit of Hinduism which I don't own either!

Katara rocked Aang slowly as he fell into unconsciousness. Her crying drowned out the soft tune she was trying to sing.

Sokka removed his arms from his face. He made sure everyone was okay before running to Katara and giving her the best hug she had ever had. He stroked her back as she cuddled the unconscious boy.

Iroh ran inside to phone the police while Zuko, Hakoda and Gyotso took care of the two men. Zhao had been knocked unconscious as soon as he hit the wall and Ozai was recovering from being thrown to the ground by a six year old.

The police took over, once they got there. Zhao was sent to the hospital to check for brain damage and Ozai was brought to court for crimes against the government, operating a gun without a licence, and attempting to kidnap. As soon as Zhao returned from hospital he would also be out in jail.

Sokka and Katara sat in the grass while the police busied themselves. Katara had stopped crying but continued to rock Aang and hold him as tight as she could.

Hakoda approached them with a man carrying a yellow bag.

"Katara," Hakoda knelt by his daughter, "this is a paramedic. All he wants to do is check you kids for injuries. Okay?"

Katara nodded. She let the paramedic check her and Aang for injuries. Then he checked Sokka and left. Katara returned to her previous position leaning against Sokka and silently begging Aang to wake up. If Gyotso knew Aang, maybe he would know what happened to him. Heaving herself up, Katara went to find the old man, carrying Aang along with her. Sokka, still being in protective-older-brother-mode (or POBM), followed close behind her. She found Gyotso sitting on the couch, retelling a police officer his witness story and drinking a cup of tea. The officer finished his questions and left them alone.

"Would you like a cup of tea, Katara?" Gyotso asked.

"No," Katara said speaking for the first time in hours, "I want you to tell me what happened to Aang because I know you know."

"Why don't you sit down and I'll tell you a story."

"I'll sit down when I want to sit down," she snapped sitting down on the couch. Sokka stared at her oddly before sitting beside her on the arm rest.

"There once was a time in the world where everyone was learning. The world was still young and full of surprises. There was a young man, who was incredibly intelligent and could figure out most problems the world faced him with. He relied on whit and cunning skills to help him through the day. This man received spiritual enlightenment from the spirits who were most pleased with him. They gave him a power unlike any other, the power to control the elements surrounding him. He called himself 'Avatar' meaning 'incarnation of a divine being'. He got so powerful that the spirits were afraid he would one day over power them so they tried to take his power away by killing him. But as he died he passed the power to a new 'Avatar' and so the reincarnation cycle began."

"So, Aang is a reincarnated figure of this ancient being?" Katara asked.

"That is what we believe."

"And there's more than one?" Sokka asked astonished.

"There could be a possibility that there is more than one but not likely. We protect people who have this power incase they can not control it. Aang is the first to mention someone else able to help him."

Katara sighed and buried her nose into Aang's sweatshirt.

"Katara! Katara, wake up," Aang pinched her nose trying to wake her up. Katara swatted his hand away and rolled over. Aang sighed and started bouncing on the bed. They were in Iroh's guest bedroom. The clock on the stand read 5:41am but Aang was too hyper to sleep. He looked over the side of the bed to see Sokka, snoring away, in a sleeping bag on the floor.

"Sokka," Aang said poking him in the side of the head. Sokka shuffled and went back to snoring. "Hmm," Aang groaned. He wanted to play, not sleep. He flopped down on his pillow bouncing the bed. Aang's face lit up. He turned to Katara. She was sleeping soundly on her back, her sides totally venerable. Aang got ready. He crept close to her placed his fingers in the right places and started tickling her. Katara sat up so quickly that it threw Aang to the other side of the bed. The little boy was laughing so hard he couldn't breathe. Katara tried taking in her surroundings. Then she remembered taking Aang to the guest room and falling asleep, wait… Aang. She crawled to the edge of the bed, where Aang had just finished his laugh attack. She towered over him, trapping him beneath her. He just stared up at her with those big, gray, playful eyes. The eyes that where his own, that belonged to him. He smiled. She was here like she always said she would be, and she didn't break her promise.

1 year later

"You know," Katara said sipping her cup of hot chocolate, "a year ago I never would have thought this would have happened to me."

Everything was finally as it should be. Aang was no longer in the orphanage but living with Gyotso in the house two doors down from Katara. Katara got to see him and spend time with him every day. Gyotso had to work late some days so he would ask Katara to pick Aang up from school and take care of him until he got home. In a way, it was just like a new babysitting job. Hakoda had been offered a new job in the work of 'The White Lotus' and he happily agreed. Every weekend Katara and Aang would visit the orphanage and help out there and sometimes Sokka would come too. Ozai was in jail and no other problems had arose. Aang didn't have any problems with being a reincarnation either, including the glowing problem. 'The White Lotus' decided to call that project 'The Avatar State'.

"Life is full of surprises," Aang answered to Katara's previous statement, also sipping his hot chocolate.

"Ya, who would have thought that you would find a mysterious kid on your way home from school and have it end up he's a weirdo with glowing eyes." Sokka said. Suki and Katara both hit him with the hands that weren't holding mugs of hot chocolate.

"It's okay," Aang said as Sokka rubbed both arms, "I'm getting used to it, I think." They all laughed.

Katara took this moment to watch the people around her. Her life was better than she could have ever imagined and she owed it all to this boy and his eyes. Everything was, finally, perfect.

You know what, Everything did turn out perfect didn't it. Originally, I had experimented with Katara dying but it didn't work for me. Below is a little scene that I was originally gonna put in the chapter but it didn't fit. Read away.

Do you?

"Hey, Aang, do you believe in ghosts?" Katara asked the seven year old.

"Nope," Aang responded.

"Well, did you know there's one living in this very house?" Katara said gesturing to the walls surounding the living room.

Aang raised his eyesbrow. "You're lying, there is no such thing as ghosts."

"Are you sure, because I've seen him."

"No you haven-"

"BOO!"

Aang screamed and jumped into Katara's lap. Behind him Sokka removed the sheet covering from around him. Katara and her brother filled the room with laughter as Aang held her tight, very confused.

That was like some short little clip you would see at the end of a movie. :D
