Sarah

Jane and Rebecca were in the dining room with their mothers. "Come join us."

Sarah sat down on that table. Rebecca turned to her. "How are you?"

"I'm fine, thank you." Sarah replied and made herself a cup of tea.

"We havn't really seen much of you since your party." Jane said.

"Uh, yeah." Sarah said. "Sorry. I don't really hang out much."

"Well we're all going to see a show tonight and then for dinner. You can come with us."

"Um, thank you but-"

"She would be delighted to." Her step mother said. "Right?"

"Right." Sarah said with a forced smile.

Jane clapped her hands. "Wonderful. I will tell the boys. They will be so excited."

Everyone stood up. Rebecca turned to Sarah. "We'll pick you up in a few hours."

They all left with Sarah's step mother walking them to the door. Sarah went upstairs to her bedroom wishing she had stayed in the Labyrinth. She looked at herself in the mirror and applied lipstick.

"Put on something nice." Her stepmother called up the stairs.

Sarah rolled her eyes and and stood to go through her closet.

It was half an hour before the girls were suposed to come and pick her up, and Sarah was still trying to chose between two different dresses.

"You would look wonderful in the cream one." a voice came from behind her.

Sarah gasped and spun around. Jareth was leaning against her doorframe. "You startled me. What are you doing here?"

"Visiting." He said. "You visited me. Now I'm visiting you."

"I didn't know that was how it worked." Sarah said.

"It works however we want it to."

Jareth

The cream would look so much better on her than that pale pink color that her step mother would want her in. She didn't demand he leave right away as he had feared she would. She just seemed confused.

"The pink is something your mother would dress you in."

"Stepmother." She corrected him. "And I am going for her."

"If you don't want to go, then don't."

"It will get her off my back, and it cost me nothing."

Jareth nodded. "Well then I hope you enjoy yourself."

He turned to leave.

"You confound me sometimes." Sarah mutteted.

Jareth smiles then turned back to her. "That's part of the fun."
