Next Day

POV- Toothless

"So, we've encountered, a huge starfish, Changewing dragons, and a long eel, in four days." Hiccup stated.

"We coulda encountered more things." Astrid said with humor in her voice.

"Yet, we've found no trace of the pearl. I've marked off all the spots in this map" Hiccup said showing Astrid his book.

"Relax, you're Hiccup. You'll eventually stumble to it, on accident or on purpose." Astrid said. Hiccup sighed. She put her hand on his shoulder. I could tell she was trying to comfort him. Hiccup looked up at her and smiled.

"Nice pep-talk," Hiccup started a bit sarcastically, "Lets just go walk on the Coastline. Maybe we can find traces of the pearl."

"Good idea. I'm not planning on getting wet today." Astrid retorted. Hiccup nodded.

"Come on Toothless and BluTail." he said signaling me and BluTail to come along. I looked in the direction of the sea, as I followed the humans. Judging by the sudden burst of wind, BluTail had come beside me. I glanced at her, and she looked ahead. When she turned to look at me, I looked over her wings, on the other side. Suddenly, she held her wings up so I couldn't see. I moved left, and her wings moved left. I moved right, and so did they.

"BluTail, you're in the way, let me see." I demanded. Then, she fully extended her wings.

"You ARE seeing. Mostly my wings." she said with a smug smile as she walked forward.

"That's not what I wanted to see, now, get outta my way!" I said joking.

"You don't own any 'way', your way is my way, therefor I am in my way, not only yours." she said. I groaned.

"BluuuTaillll!" I complained.

"Yes, that's my name." she said grinning. I narrowed my eyes.

"Fine then, after all, I have nothing else to see in that direction." I said looking away and pointing in BluTail's direction.

"Excuse me! Am I nothing?" she asked.

"What exactly is your definition of nothing?" I asked smiling with amusement.

"That's not funny..." BluTail said.

"I'm just kidding, you're so easy to mess with." I said. She snorted and narrowed her eyes at me. I blinked and smiled at her. Her look went away and was replaced by a genuine smile. See at what I could accomplish? I just know what to do, at the right moment. "You know, Hiccup and Astrid are searching more than us." I said.

"Fine then, I'll stay focused. As long as you stay focused use too." BluTail said. I rolled my eyes.

"I'll stay alert. I know you'll un-focus soon enough." I said. She snorted and looked left. I looked down on the sand. I saw tattered old shells. Different types... I gave a small growl to get Hiccup's attention. He turned back and saw where I was pointing at. He picked up the shell and studied it.

"Thanks bud." Hiccup said as he turned around and kept walking straight. He showed it to Astrid and they talked. I searched more, to see if I could find anything else. I know that meant something. With just a little more good eye, who knows how closer I could get.

"Toothless?" BluTail called. Eh, that can wait. I turned to her.

"Yes, that's my name." I replied giving a half smile. She narrowed her eyes at my comment.

"Anyways, look." she said pointing to something. I went closer to look at it. It was a squishy substance. "I've seen these in the sea, but I'm not sure what it's called. Usually there's a lot more. This one's dead though." she said squishing it with her claw. I did too, but I made a hole into it by accident. I gave BluTail a sheepish look. She gave a small chuckle and pushed it away.

"So, what's the point?" I asked.

"There is no point. It just means that there has to be more. This one was berely a baby." BluTail said. I was about to comment, until-

"Woah..." Hiccup and Astrid said with amazement in their faces. I jumped over Hiccup and I saw more of those squishy creatures. Except (much) bigger.

"That's what I was talking about." BluTail said. A smirk soon formed on my lips. I looked at BluTail.

"Lets go towards them." I said getting jumpy. I gave her a playful growl and looked at the squishy creatures.

"What?! No! They sting!" BluTail said backing up. I saw that Hiccup and Astrid were already nearing them.

"So what, they sting? How terrible," I said sarcastically. "C'mon, this going to be fun." I said with my pupils widening with excitement.

"Ugh! I can't imagine what else you've risked, in doing something 'fun.'" she said.

"There was that one time where I drank special water." I said remembering.

"How is that risking anything?" BluTail asked.

"It made my scales turn glow blue." I replied.

"I'm up to the point where that doesn't surprise me." she said with a smirk. I glanced back at the squishy creatures. BluTail blinked and backed up. I know BluTail wants to go, she just need some encouragement. I pushed her forward. (More like I had to drag her.) She whined, groaned, threatened me, and angrily sighed. I stopped, once we got there.

"The things you drag me in." she said sighing. I smiled and nudged her. It looked like she was fighting a smile.

"That wasn't hard. I even did most of the walking for you." I said trying to lighten her mood.

"I almost got scarred all over again!" BluTail exclaimed. I could tell she was only joking.

"Really now?" I asked sarcastically.

"Yeah!" she replied. I rolled my eyes and pushed her into bouncing on one of the squishy creatures. I jumped and bounced on one too. I jumped again and once I flew in the air because of the bounce, I flapped my wings and flew over to BluTail. She looked surprised.

"You want to try?" I asked. She narrowed her eyes in (what I could tell) nervousness. She shook her head.

"You know, those things can do much more than be squishy and bounce you." BluTail said.

"Like what?" I asked feeling the outside of the creature.

"See those tentacles, or, wavy things that comes out of it?" she asked. I glanced at it and nodded. "They shock you. Plus these ones are still alive... so, we can't do anything to disturb them." I walked over to the 'tentacles' and put my claw out to touch them. Then BluTail stepped in front of me.

"What do you think you're doing? Are you trying get shocked? You'll have pain surge through out your hole body!" BluTail exclaimed.

"At least you look out for me." I said. She snorted.

"Getting shocked is not fun." she stated.

"Have you gotten shocked before?" I asked.

"I won't answer that. I'll just say, no and yes." BluTail replied. She never answers my questions. Why?!

"I'll just assume yes." I said.

"Why don't you test it out? If you're a Night Fury, you shouldn't be scared of a shock" BluTail said challengingly.

"You just want to see me in pain." I said narrowing my eyes.

"A little. You said I was 'nothing.'" BluTail said. She really likes to mess around. She grinned. I was about to touch the wavy thing, but somewhere near, I heard Hiccup and Astrid. I looked up to see where they were. They ran our way. Astrid ahead of Hiccup. He ran as best he could, even though his metal foot buried in the sand.

"Lets go BluTail. We have to run these Jellyfish out." Astrid said. BluTail gave her a questioning look. "We might have gotten the Jellyfish angry." Astrid said looking back. I looked at Hiccup. He saw this.

"What?! Don't look at me! This was all Astrid!" he said.

"Thank you, for letting me take all the blame." Astrid said sarcastically.

"It's alright, as long as we get these things back in the water, they won't hurt us." Hiccup said getting on my back. I saw that BluTail bit Astrid's arm.

"Why did she bite you?" Hiccup asked noticing this and beating me to the question.

"I don't know... It just makes me be able to survive underwater without drowning." Astrid replied.

"Does it hurt?" he asked.

"Nothing I can't handle." she replied.

"I've never seen anything like that be able to happen. I wish I noticed it before. I'll have to study that..." Hiccup said sounding like he was almost going into a deep thought.

"Yeah, later. C'mon BluTail." Astrid said. Hiccup and her discussed a plan. After, they gave a nod and I took that as a signal to fly in the air. Hiccup instructed me on what I should do. I obeyed... some of it. I zig-zagged and I shot at the creatures. They moved slowly into the sea. BluTail took care of it from there on. I swopped beside the squishy creatures and plasma-blasted them. The creatures squirmed and used their wavy things to go return to the sea. (With BluTail's help.) Hiccup cheered as the creatures entered the sea. Astrid and BluTail smirked in triumph

Later

Hiccup went to check in with his dad and bring more supplies back. He and Astrid sat and ate as the sun went down. After the squishy creatures went back, BluTail and Astrid swam in the sea while I flew up in the air. We had our own small contests. It wasn't adventure, but it was fun. I sat near the fire next to BluTail. We sat in silence. All I could hear was the soft sounds of human voices talking and the crackle of the fire.

"Toothless, I'm going to ask you something" BluTail said. I glanced at her. I shrugged.

"It seems like you're telling me, so you might as well ask." I said.

"Is your birth-name 'Toothless?'" she asked. I decided to answer honestly.

"No. 'Toothless' is just a name Hiccup gave me. I met him a while ago. My birth-name is SilverNight." I explained casually.

"Why aren't you called that anymore?" BluTail asked with her eyes wide.

"I don't like my original name. It has too many bad memories. The name Toothless, reminds me of all the good things that's happened." I said.

"Like what?" she asked. I half smiled already knowing she was going to ask that question. I told her the whole story. Detail by detail. She seemed excited as she listened to the whole thing quietly. I would stop in the middle, just to tease her with suspense. She looked pretty satisfied with the ending.

"That's amazing. I always wondered about your tail. And Hiccup's leg. And how you guys became friend. And, what you guys did, woah! You actually have something good to tell, on what you've done." BluTail said. I shrugged.

"Don't you?" I asked. She looked down. The brightness in her eyes seemed to dim. "Tell me about your past." I said.

"I already told you most of it. I had a simple life. Nothing special, I swam, did little things to entertain myself. Then, I got thrown out of my territory. That was the worst day ever. I destroyed their pearl and soon searched for a new home, and everywhere ended up my home. Sure, I met different Furies along the way, but that didn't stop the Scauldron chase. I guess I got so used to them, I didn't even want to stop them. I always thought that we were even. You want to know why they always found me? You wan to know why it's so easy for them to trace me? It's pathetic, because I can't fly. I can't fly. I don't know how to! I can't defend my own territory, I can't properly escape in the endless sea, and I can't even fly! I am the worst excuse of a dragon!" BluTail exclaimed. Hiccup and Astrid looked at us. I ignored them for now. I gave her a friendly embrace.

"Why do you look at what you don't do? I wasn't the best either. I worked for the Red Death and endured it. Look at what you do now. You stopped being involved in the chase. You stuck up, you and Astrid have a bond. When the two of us work together, we are powerful. You don't need flying! You have water. I think that you're more of a dragon others would want to be." I said comforting her.

POV- BluTail

I felt special for once. All I looked at was my mistakes, and here's Toothless praising me. I wasn't complaining. I felt happy that he didn't judge me. He had me in an embrace. I know that it was a friendly one, but my mind kept wandering to the point if this wasn't just a friendly one. But, somthing more... Something that almost made my insides melt. But I should never think that! Toothless is a supportive friend. He helped me realize, what I never bought myself to tell anyone. I smiled.

"So you've never flown before?" he asked.

"Being in the water, you don't really need it." I replied. He looked like he was thinking.

"You won't be as perfect as me, but I can teach you how to fly." Toothless said. My mind sparked with interest.

"I'd love you forever if you do." I said but instantly shutting my mouth. Toothless laughed.

"I'll take that love. I'll show you tomorrow, after we search for the pearl." he said. Okay... so at least he knew I was joking, right?

"So... I'll see you then?" I asked. Toothless rolled his eyes.

"Off-course. I'm feeling tired, I'll see you tomorrow." Toothless said. Then he yawned and curled himself up. He whispered a faint 'goodnight.' I smiled and decided to sit near Astrid. I wish she could understand how content I was right now. And there was more than one reason to it.

I was going to update yesterday, but I had to edit the chapter. Yep, I'm just too stubborn to have a beta-reader. But it was early, and I hopped you liked. Have an awesome Wednesday.
