Chapter 10 – Welcoming the werewolf.
Sorry about the late upload, hope you enjoy.
Remus stood awkwardly next to James, folding his sleeves up and fidgeting from foot to foot. He couldn't believe that the Sirius boy was in his dorm room, but he felt a little sympathy towards the boy who was now sat on one of the four beds that occupied the Gryffindor dorm room looking rather upset. James looked towards Sirius and sighed "Look we got off on the wrong foot mate, you're here now so I suppose we better try and get along" James walked over to the bed and stuck out his hand, requesting a shake from Sirius. Sirius looked up at James and snarled "I won't be here for long Potter, I don't belong here with you mudblood lovers" he stood up and stormed out the dorm pushing Peter out the way in the process. James looked at Remus and laughed.
"What are you laughing at James?" Remus asked, his pale hands playing with a fray of string from his robes. James stood up and started walking around with his nose in the air "Look at me everyone, I'm from the noble house of Black, bow to me peasants" James spoke imitating Sirius' posh London accent. He burst out in laughter and clapped Peter on the back. "We'll be fine guys, he's a posh prat so rich he'll try and buy his way into Slytherin" James laughed. Remus giggled to himself, still starring awkwardly at the floor, looking up at the clock he spoke "I'll be back soon, I have to get something sorted" he stuttered. He quietly left the dorm room and walked down the long winding stairs. "Ow" shouted the thing at Remus' feet. "Oh I'm sorry I didn't see you there" Remus quickly responded.
"Of course you did, you ignorant little half-blood" shouted the boy at his feet. It was Sirius, his eyes red and puffy and sleeves rolled down over his hands. Sirius stood up and wiped his eyes furiously. Remus stood next to him, biting his lip as a nervous habit, gaining courage Remus asked " Are you okay? I mean you seem a bit er upset" He stood awkwardly waiting for the reply from the boy.
"No, what gave you that idea, leave me alone you freak" Sirius spat angrily, standing up and running down the long winding stairs to the common room. Remus stood in shock for a moment, all he was trying to do is be nice.. With a sigh Remus walked down the stairs, he had to go and talk to Dumbledore about his.. problem.. he wasn't looking forward to it.
He walked up the long winding staircase which lead to Dumbledore's office, shuffling his feet as he went. He came to holt outside of a large wooden door, the door handle looked as if it was made of silver, so Remus stood awkwardly tapping on the wood. Dumbledore opened the door with a look of understanding on his face, he smiled and invited Remus to come in.
Remus sat down on an old armchair in front of the headmasters desk, he smiled shyly as Dumbledore sat down in front of him.
"So, how are you finding your first night at Hogwarts?" Dumbledore asked with a smile.
Remus fidgeted slightly and pulled his sleeves over his scarred hands. "It's been good, I'm happy to be here sir" Remus replied, smiling up at the man who is making his stay at the school possible.
Dumbledore chuckled and smiled brightly, he picked up a small sweet from the bowl next to his quill and offered in to Remus. "No thank you sir" Remus replied.
"So down to the serious things, me and Madam Pomfrey have worked out how we are going to deal with your transformations" Dumbledore spoke softly.
"There is a tree called the whomping willow, under which is a tunnel which will lead you the house were you will stay during the full moon. You will have to press the knot at the bottom of the tree to stop it attacking" Dumbledore spoke. "Madam Pomfrey will meet you every morning in the shack and tend to your wounds, you will be excused from school for 2 days every month, but you will have to catch up"
Remus nodded at the request and sighed a sigh of relief.
"Also, I know you can't touch silver so we have changed all plates and utensils in the school with metal, no one will tell the difference. But be aware certain things in the school can't be replaced, so be best to not touch anything that looks like silver" Dumbledore smiled and stood up, he walked towards Remus and patted him on the back. "It'll be fine my boy, you may be dismissed now".
Remus stood up and thanked his headmaster, walking out the door he smiled.
Maybe it will not be as bad as he thought, 2 weeks until the next full moon...
