This is the last chapter, and I'm really sad because I loved writing this. I hope you enjoyed reading this :)
"Annabeth Chase! You get over here right now!" Annabeth's head shoots up from The Serpent's Shadow and she spots Rachel Elizabeth Dare standing at Clarion Ladies Academy (which she is now attending) in a black and white uniform that matches her own.
Tucking her book into her bag and encountering another wave of yearning for Percy. She'd give anything to be back in New Rome with him and the rest of her friends. But she does have one of her best friends waiting for her here, so she bucks up and runs up the stairs to greet her ginger friend.
Rachel wraps her in a huge hug, and Annabeth hugs back just as hard.
Pulling away, Rachel gives Annabeth a good look. "Oh my gods, I was so worried. Those visions… Well, all I can say is thank Apollo they weren't all real."
Shivering slightly, Annabeth decides to change the subject. And quick, before the thoughts return. "Let's talk about something else, shall we?"
Rachel smiles softly. "Okay then. I would suggest you sat away from Lucinda, Keziah, and Phyllis." The Oracle gestures softly to three blonde-highlighted brunettes relaxing in the hallway corner as the two enter the building. The odd-gestures obviously indicate that there is gossip involved.
Annabeth resists her hesitation to ask, "Uh, why?"
Rachel laughs. "They may have said that my sketch of the seven was, well… They said I was a pathetic stalker and I responded in my own way."
Annabeth's grey eyes widen. She was their when Rachel created her 'own way.' "You didn't."
The mortal smirks. "I did. The picture of the dying empousai and the weeping angel effectively shut them up."
The daughter of Athena shakes her head. "Oh, Rachel."
Rachel leads her to an old cream colored pod of two foot lockers. "Because I'm so kind, I'm letting you share my locker with me, as I didn't want you to have to share with some non-mist-minded mortal." A girl with a short brown bob gives them a weird look as she walks back. Rachel shouts to her back, "You're just jealous you're not us, Sukey!"
After ten minutes of attempting to shove both of their loaded backpacks into the miniscule locker, the two stroll to homeroom, where they sit between a girl with wavy dirty blonde hair named Temperance and another girl with wild chestnut hair named Augusta.
Annabeth suddenly felt self-conscious of her multiple scars, but she ignored it. After all, not everyone is going to be staring at her legs, and her blazer covers her back and arms. She just wished Percy were here.
Rachel discreetly taps her shoulder and mouths, Show me the pictures.
Nodding, Annabeth reaches into her binder and grabs a stack of photos from the back pocket of her binder.
The picture at the top of the stack is of all the seven, plus Reyna and Nico.
"It's nice to see you all smiling." Rachel whispers, emerald eyes remaining on the photo. "And Leo with Reyna? That's different."
Temperance leans over Annabeth to stare at the photo. Her big hazel eyes skim the photo and seem to flit between Percy and Jason. "Oh my goodness, is that your boyfriend." Her French manicured nail lands on Percy's face.
Resisting the urge to smirk, Annabeth responds simply with, "Yes. Yes, he is."
Augusta's attention wanders over to the three girls and she silently scoots her chair over to Rachel's desk. "You had a heck of a summer, didn't you?"
"Yeah, I sure did," Annabeth was about to continue when a shadow falls over her. Her hand sneaks inside her blazer, where a pencil lay. That pencil was a late birthday gift from Leo, and by tapping the eraser it turned to a dagger that was identical to the one she lost.
Her first thought was, They're back.
But it just turned out to be an annoying teacher. The tag on her starchy sweater said Bernadette Franz, her face matched her personality.
Irritating.
The old lady snatches up her stack of pictures and brings them to her desk muttering, "No talking. None."
Annabeth glares at the teacher's back as she starts attendance. While the teacher's face was in her papers, Annabeth sneaks the small photo of her and Percy together out of her blazer.
That oughta last her the class period.
Zoning out, Annabeth swears she sees Piper fiddling with her hair, Hazel waving at her, miniature Arions lining her arms, and her Percy Jackson, poking at her and grinning at her with that crooked smile of his, effectively distracting her.
There will be a sequel that has to do with Pictures, completely, I swear. It'll be up soon. How'd you like?
