okay guys, here's another chapter! And don't get used to the longer chapters and quick updates, with school starting, I'm sure I'll start slacking off again, which I'm sorry for! Now here's another chapter! Enjoy!
Cas and Dean spend their weekends distracting themselves from thinking about each other. Cas spends his time tutoring Balthazar in French, which is much more tedious than he originally thought, having to keep Balthazar focused on his homework instead of on wanting to learn inappropriate words in French to "impress the ladies" at school. Cas also spent half the weekend fighting with Raphael who got mad at him for every little thing. With every fight, he felt worse and worse for Gabriel who played mediator while Balthazar ignored them and Anna took Cas' side. Michael usually stopped the fighting, but was at his apartment most of the weekend writing lesson plans.
Dean spends his weekend working on the Impala with his dad and distracting Sammy, who is still depressed from the fire earlier that summer.
Cas woke up early Monday morning, like he does every day, trying to beat his siblings to the shower. He grabbed some clothes and stumbled down the hall and into the bathroom. Within twenty minutes, he's showered, dressed, and looking in the mirror, shocked by what he sees. In the mirror, his normally dark brown hair is now bright pink.
"Gabriel!" Cas runs out of the room and is greeted by the laughs of his siblings, even Raphael is smiling. Cas looks down the hall and spots Gabriel leaning against his doorway by the stairs, a mischievous smirk on his face. Cas glares at him and Gabriel's eyes widen before he takes off down the stairs, Cas right on his trail. Raphael's smile is gone in seconds and he heads into the bathroom for his shower while Anna and Balthazar follow Cas and Gabriel downstairs.
Cas chases Gabriel into the living room before he tackles Gabriel onto the couch. He quickly pins him down. "Pink? Seriously?"
"What? It's a good color on you." Gabriel smiles sweetly up at his brother. "Besides you've been gone awhile, gotta start with the publicly embarrassing pranks and work up to the emotionally scarring ones."
"You could have least done blue."
"No, it would have clashed with your eyes, Cassie." Balthazar waves at the two of them as he and Anna head into the kitchen.
Gabriel glares at them. "You're not going to help me?!"
"You deserve whatever he gives you, Gabe!" Anna and Balthazar laugh as they sit at the table where Michael is setting out food for them.
"What did Gabriel do this time?" Michael questions as he sets waffles in front of his two siblings.
Balthazar smirks. "Dyed Cassie's hair pink."
Michael sighs and shakes his head. "Of course he did." They soon hear Gabriel's laughter from the living room where Cas is tickling him without mercy. Michael smiles when he hears the laughter, but it's soon gone as Anna speaks up.
"Dad's gone again, isn't he?" Balthazar and Anna look up at Michael with sad, but knowing eyes.
Michael sighs, despising their father for doing this to them repeatedly. "Yeah, Joshua called and said he'd be gone a couple weeks this time."
"Of course he is." Michael, Balthazar, and Anna look over to see Raphael walking in the room. "Dad hasn't cared about any of us since Mom left and took his favorite son with her. He doesn't care and would rather be dealing with business instead of us. And since Mom died, he hasn't even been home more than a day at a time. He doesn't care and you all need to realize that. The two things he cared about left him and now he's practically left all of us." He grabs a waffle off of a plate. "Uriel and I are heading up to school early to practice our hitting before winter training starts." He walks out of the kitchen, shoving Cas, who had stopped tickling Gabriel and was listening by the door, out of the way as he passes and walks out the front door with his stuff.
Michael sighs as he silently curses his father, repeatedly. He starts making more waffles for Cas and Gabriel. Gabriel, Balthazar and Anna all look like they've been punched in the stomach, and Cas had a sad but knowing expression on his face, knowing why his mother asked him to go with her a reason that his siblings don't know and Raphael being partially right.
The rest of the morning is silent as the siblings pick at their food and get ready for school. Michael leaves after serving them breakfast, needing to give a student a test before school. Cas leaves the house a few minutes before his siblings, having to go a different way to school, and Anna drives her two little brothers to school.
Raphael climbs into Uriel's car, slamming the door in frustration.
"Castiel, again?"
"Isn't it always? My dad left again and well of course he did! Castiel was his freaking favorite and Castiel left with my mom. He was heartbroken already and that made it worse. So my dumb father took it out on us, by leaving all the time and hardly speaking to us! It was the worst four years of our life, having to always take care of ourselves and not having a parent to lean on, and it's not like any of us were going to ask Michael to come back, especially not after-...this is just all so stupid."
Uriel listens to his friend as he drives them to school. He's heard it several times before, but knows everything would be better off if he got it out before they got to school.
Raphael had to take on a lot of responsibility at the age of 14. Their father was around enough that he didn't have to become the parent and give up sports in high school, but he had to do more than any 14 year old should and it took his toll on him. Raphael became colder and more serious. He didn't smile much outside of his house and if he did it's usually at something one of his siblings or few friends said. Few people at school know any of this and think he's just an arrogant asshole, but in truth, he just had to grow up a little too fast.
The two friends reach the school and walk to the baseball fields. They get out their bats and baseballs.
"Thanks for listening to me rant, Uriel. I needed that."
"I know, now let's go hit some baseballs and pretend they're Dean Winchester's head."
The corner of Raphael's mouth moves up the smallest amount into one of his rare smirks. He nods and they head towards home plate.
Dean stares out the window as he rides the bus to school again. He hates it and misses his baby. John had told him that if he behaves, he can have it back by Wednesday for winter training for baseball, though because of detention he'll miss half of training for the next two weeks which will not make his coach happy, and will definitely ruin his chance at being team captain this year. Dean's irritated thoughts disappear as he sees Cas' mustang pull into the parking lot next to the bus. Dean walks off the bus and heads over to Cas' car. Cas looks up when he hears Dean walking over and smiles causing Dean to smile brightly. Dean glances at Cas' bright pink hair but says nothing about it, since Cas is somehow able to make it look sexy and adorable at the same time.
"Hey, Cas."
"Hello, Dean." The two of them walk side by side, they're shoulders occasionally hitting, causing something that feels like electricity to run through them. They walk in silence to Castiel's locker. Dean leans against the one next to it while Cas puts away his books and gets the ones he needs.
"So, I was thinking we could go out Friday night?" Dean glances at Cas, suddenly nervous that Cas would retract Friday's statement that he'd go out with him.
Cas pretends to actually give it some thought. "I suppose I can squeeze that in." Cas wears a smirk on his lips. "What will we be doing?"
Dean's confidence immediately returns. "It's a surprise."
They walk to Trig together, occasionally brushing their arms against each other as before. As they walk they get stares from almost everyone in the hallway. The student body was surprised when Dean Winchester was rejected, but are even more surprised that he is trying so hard for a guy and actually asking him out on a date, something he hasn't done before. The students are too shocked by what Dean Winchester is doing to even really notice Cas' hair.
Cas and Dean walk into Trig together, both of them smiling. Michael looks up and is surprised by the two of them, teachers not really caring about their students love lives, so he hadn't heard the gossip about the two of them. Michael notices Anna tense in the corner of his eye and is surprised at Castiel for doing this to his twin. He watches Cas sit next to Dean at the back of the classroom and decides to speak with Castiel later tonight to see if he even knows what he is doing.
Okay, so I've decided to put multiple views into the story, like Raphael's in the middle of this because I don't want it to only be about Dean and Cas, what happens to the other characters greatly affects the two of them so their views are important! and thanks for the reviews last chapter. I'm still curious what the rest of you think I should do for Sam's pairing. And any other pairings you guys want to see? Let me know! I'm considering doing one for Raphael, but I'll try to do some for the ones that might be requested! Oh and if you haven't already, my profile has photo links so if you have trouble picturing the characters you can know how I'm picturing them when I write the story! Okay thanks for reading and any reviews I get will be much appreciated! :)
