AN: I know, I know. This update is long overdue but life hasn't exactly been kind to me. between working almost every waking hour and trying to fix a mess with my college classes and I've been down in the dumps and with some family problems it makes me not very motivated to write but I'm hoping now that things seem to finally be calming down that I'll hopefully be able to get back to writing. Enough about me and my troubles lets see what troubles Devi gets into this time. and like always read and review. see you guys and gals next time. END AN:

I bolted awake and when I felt someone grabbing onto me my training kicked in and I grabbed them and threw them over me onto the bed and held a combat knife up to their throat. When the sleep left my eyes I could clearly see who it was. What I saw was Jaynè with a look I've never seen on an elite, fear.

She stared at me with a look of horror as she could feel the knife against her throat. As soon as I saw that it was her I quickly took the knife away from her throat and threw it against the wall where it embedded itself into the wall.

"Jaynè I'm so sorry. That was training that took over and I'm really sorry."

At first there was no response but when I looked at her face I was then that I realized that she didn't have her armor on but instead a robe and her face was turning a bright purple as she struggled to speak through her embarrassment.

"I-It's alright Delac but could you um get off me."

I looked down and saw where I was sitting and faster than the speed of light I was on the other side of the room.

"I'm so sorry. I."

The rest of my apology was drowned out by laughter as it slowly got louder then as suddenly as it started it stopped. I sent a glare towards my helmet with a broken visor that was on the table nearby.

"Classic Spartan Devi. Always accidentally doing something that most men wished would happen to them."

"You have no room to speak Anna. I remember a couple of times when you were the cause of said position with one being between you and that other AI."

The room had gone silent with Jaynè looking confusedly between me and my helmet when the voice spoke again except this time there was anger and rage behind the words.

"I THOUGHT WE AGREED TO NEVER SPEAK OF THAT AGAIN!"

"What are you gonna do shut off my suit. Well hate to break it to you but I'm not wearing any Spartan or advanced ODST armor so you can't touch me."

"You're gonna regret those words."

"And why would I."

I was cut off by the sound of an energy weapon charging behind me.

" 'Sigh' let me guess. This hospital has fully functioning hologram projectors that can manipulate stuff in the real world."

"Yep."

I slowly turn around to face a teal colored Cortana except she has waist length hair and in her hand was a sphere of pure energy. I look towards Jaynè as I hear an energy sword ignite.

"Don't even bother. She's only a hologram and the only thing that she could possibly do is."

I was cut off by the sound of electricity flying through the air and hitting me in the back. The electricity coursed through my body causing my muscles to spasm before I fell over with smoke rising from my hair. There was no sound in the room except for the hiss of the energy sword for a good five minutes before I lifted my head.

"Why did you do that for Anna?"

"You practically dared me to try to hit you. It was funny though."

"I'm pretty sure it was."

"Oh it was. See for yourself."

On a nearby monitor a video of me getting electrocuted and falling down was playing in a loop.

"Anna delete that video now."

"And why should I?"

I open my mouth to speak but Anna cuts me off.

"You can't leave me behind or else Halsey will have your head and if you threaten to destroy my chip I can just jump to a nearby computer terminal and Halsey will still kill you."

I sighed and sagged my shoulders as I quickly realized that it's pointless to argue with an AI. It was at this point Jaynè cleared her throat and put away her energy sword.

"If I may ask. Where did this AI come from?"

"Oh sorry about that let me introduce myself. My name is Anna, AI companion for the first Spartan and twin sister program to the AI Cortana."

This seemed to have peaked Jayné's interest as she tilted her head in a questioning way.

"from what I have heard from the others. The AI you call cortana is unique and that there are no AIs' like her."

"that is correct that she is unique just like I myself am unique to other AIs' and as for the twin part i was created at the same time cortana was created except I was carried by Halsey herself while Cortana was carried by spartan six."

We would have continued with our chat but the noise of a pelican landing outside grabbed everyone's attention as I grabbed my helmet and pistol while Jaynè readied her energy sword. When we reached the entrance I was surprised to see professor Halsey herself along with a contingent of Spartan II's.

"Delac what have you gotten yourself into this time?"

At her accusing question reached my one free hand behind my head and started to chuckle.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you doc."

At the nickname she gave me one of her death glares that made Anna, Jaynè, and I to get shivers down our backs.

"What have I told you about calling me that."

"to not to. So with that out of the way why are you here?"

"to the point as usual. The reason I'm here is to personally give you your new spartan suit since you fried the ODST suit and to check up on Anna.

"I'm fine Professor Halsey but this lunk head broke yet another suit of armor."

"hey! It's not my fault my way of doing things is a bit destructive."

"that's an understatement."

Before I could retort Dr. Halsey held up her hand to stop us.

"we don't have time for you two to start arguing again. Now. As for your new armor, it should be arriving in three, two, one."

As soon as she said one a heavily armored pelican rose up from street level as it turned around and landed next to the much smaller pelican. Jayné and I followed Halsey into the dropship as I could see a suit assembler inside holding a mark VI armor that looked similar to the chief's armor except it was colored pitch black with a stripe of light blue going down the center of the helmet. I released a whistle as I looked at the armor, "you've really outdone yourself this time doc. It looks amazing. The question is. Will it survive me using It?"

At my question Jaynè gave me a questioning look as Halsey only chuckles dryly.

"Spartan Devi. I personally designed this suit with you in mind. The shield capacity is on par with that of an elite shipmates if not better plus the armor itself has been heavily modified to take even the most brutal punishment. If I had to guess. It could even survive reentry without going into lockdown mode. So yes I'm sure this armor can survive your um recklessness."

Jaynè stifles a laugh as I cast a glare at Halsey before I step towards the machine as It takes me into a chamber to put me into a Spartan undersuit then it starts to equip the armor itself. After about five minutes I step out of the machine with a clunk as my heavy footfall echoes in the dropship. Jaynè stares at me in awe and fear as the light above me gives me a menacing glare. I raise up my hand as I inspect the mobility of the armor.

"you've outdone yourself again doc. This armor is amazing."

"yeah yeah yeah. You enjoy your new suit. Just hurry up and plug me in already."

"you just had to ruin the moment didn't you Anna."

"what can I say. I'm tired of this cramped ODST helmet and I want to be in an actual Spartan armor again."

I chuckle as I retrieve the data core from the damaged helmet and inserted it into my new Spartan helmet. As soon as I plugged it in I felt a jolt as she integrated into the suit and my augmentations.

"then never gets any easier."

I shake my head as I try to dispel the uncomfortable buzzing in my body as I integrate into the suit. After a few moments I lean down and pick up my mini-gun and strap the ammo pack onto my back. Once I'm done with that I look over to Jaynè to see her take a step back in fright when I look over at her. When I see her flinch I slowly raise my hand.

"It's alright Jaynè. It's still me under the armor."

"I know it's just that I've seen what a single demon is capable of."

She looks away to the side she whispers under her breath, "I saw my brother cut down with his own sword by one."

With my enhanced hearing i heard her whisper that but decided to keep quiet about it. I slowly reached up my arms and disengaged my helmet and held it at my waist as I gave Jayne a small smile.

"See. it's still me and no matter what i will protect you."

Jayne gave me a small smile as she blushed sightly. Little did i know what kind of minefield i was walking into with those words i uttered.
