Chapter 10
Pale white flushed across his skin as Usui stood trembling, his phone clutched within his tightened hand, his eyes widened fully. Nothing at that moment could pull him from the pain which bolted through his chest, an unsettling feeling crept through his very being, tormented by the words before him.
"M... Master?", Satsuki stuttered softly, curious to his sudden behaviour. The pasty look he held threatened to drop him to his knees at any second.
"Satsuki!", Usui yelled, frightening the petite woman to withdraw from him slightly, "Can you drive?!"
With a puzzled look Satsuki could only force a nod from her terrified state before Usui pulled her out of the room to leave. His grip was tight around her wrist that she could feel the blood been cut from her hand, a complete sense of urgency seethed from Usui yet even that didn't overpower the anger behind his eyes. Whilst dragging the helpless woman through the hallways, Usui explained the situation the best he could to Satsuki, the words formed but the sentences made no sense as he rambled on and on, the only thing that was clear was that Misaki was in trouble. This was something Satsuki would never allow, as a friend and boss she could not leave any of her maids behind if they needed her, questioning no more on what was happening, the pair took to running to the car. With rally driving skills Satsuki floored the car, she would trace the way Misaki walked home, determined that they would get to her in time. Her gaze drifted back to her Master every so often, since the mansion Usui had said not a single word, he sat staring at his phone, ringing every ten seconds to Misaki's phone to which he found no reply. From the offset it would appear that he was perfectly calm but Satsuki had known Usui long enough to see the storm brewing behind his charade, his composure trembled on the edge so much that a slight unbalance would cause him to fall. There were no words she could offer him, no comfort or solace that she would be able to provide her Master, the only thing Satsuki could do was find Misaki, she was the only thing that ever mattered to Usui.
The streets were empty, with so few people around it would seem an easy task to find a sole person and yet there was nothing, no sign or sound, no whisper of her name as far the the wind carried, vanishing into thin air. Their speed slowed as they began to search the streets more thoroughly, Usui was willing to crawl upon his hands and knees if it meant finding her. He had rang her home a multitude of times in hopes she made it back unfortunately Suzuna only confirmed Usui's fears each time when she stated Misaki was not home.
"Someone has dropped their phone", Satsuki murmured, speaking to herself.
"Pull over!", Usui ordered. At such a distance he couldn't be certain, but he recognised the slim red phone which lay abandoned on the floor, it was a slight chance it was hers, but a chance none the less. Before Usui had chance to leave the car, a large black van came speeding down the road, the driving was more erratic than Satsuki's, who had almost killed the pair with her wild speeds. Tires screeched painfully as it ground to an immediate stop opposite them, staying only seconds it sped off again in a hail of smoke. Usui's eyes widened in shock as he bellowed to Satsuki to follow the van and without question she did so. The windows on the black vehicle were tinted out so it was impossible to see who was driving but Usui would not allow them to escape so easily, the phone he thought to be Misaki's had been taken swiftly by the occupants of the van, so quick that it would have been easily missed had Usui's attention not already been on the discarded item. Keeping at safe distance, the pair tailed the van across town, memorising the registration plate so as not to lose it entirely their attentions were fixed solely upon it but certain things began to bother Usui. He didn't understand who would be after Misaki this badly that they would risk doing something so rash as kidnapping, whoever it was must have knowledge of Misaki's home and an access to the Walker residence, they come and go like a shadow always slipping through their fingers. The only demand they made was for Misaki to leave Usui alone, but he could think of no one who would benefit from that action, just how far would they go to reach their goal. It would be impossible to protect Misaki forever and as stubborn as she was he knew she would refuse anything of the sort but unless they stopped whoever was behind this there was no other way than for her to leave, something that Usui would die before he let happen. Not only would this mystery perpetrator achieve what they had wanted but that would also mean allow Misaki to escape him for a second time, something which brought Usui great discomfort. No, that just simply wasn't an option.
Before his mind could wonder further Usui was brought back to the matter at hand by the car slowing. Up ahead the van had entered a trading estate, factories and lorries lined as far as the eyes could see, a mass amount of different companies owned each section of the estate it was impossible to identify any of them who could be behind it all. The entrance had no barrier or gateway to pass, so after a few seconds Satsuki followed the van into the trading estate, making a right onto the main boulevard she brought them to a dead stop is horror, they had lost the van. In only a short amount of time, the vehicle, there only link to Misaki, had vanished much like she had. Calmly Usui unbuckled himself, climbing out of the car he said nothing, he seemed a lot calmer than he was before but inside her burnt angrily, he had been so close to Misaki and yet they slipped by him at the last minute. The only way in and out of the estate was the way they entered, it was simply impossible for them to have gotten past Usui without him noticing which meant that somewhere within the noise of machinery and the intoxicating smell of oil Misaki was been held. Ordering Satsuki to stay with the car, Usui ran off to search, even if it took him weeks he would tear each building apart until he found her.
Throbbing pain echoed in Misaki's head as she slowly awoke in a groggy state, she had no idea how long she had been asleep or even what time or day it was. Her body was still poisoned with the drug which had made her collapse so easily, even breathing was effort as she panted heavily. She could feel a cloth bound tightly round her eyes but even without sight Misaki could guess where she was, the sound of machines churning and clanking in the distance rang in her ears in a rhythmic motion, the air smelt musty and old and the concrete floor beneath her was cold. It was only then Misaki realised she couldn't move her hands, a coarse rope grated against her wrists keeping them locked, her legs and feet were free to move but that didn't exactly help her none. Bringing her binds to her mouth Misaki began to gnaw at them, the threads of rope splintered off they were like thorns in her mouth.
"You can't escape", A tinny voice drifted in her direction. It came from no more than six feet away but Misaki just couldn't pinpoint where. Her heart pounded rashly, the person who spoke should have been the person who stalked her, the one who tormented her but this time there was no mask to cover the tone and soon it all began to make sense.
"Tora!", Misaki growled angrily, "I should have known you were behind this!"
A single pair of footsteps beat against the ground but to Misaki it felt as if they came from all directions. Without a word or warning she felt a foot bounce from her thigh, kicking her over, her muscle screaming in agony from the force.
"What the hell do you want Tora?!", Yelling, Misaki had lost none of her bite from his attack which only made her more angry.
"You were told to stay away from Usui and then you spend the night with him. That's not what I consider playing by the rules", Tora explained, his voice echoing and platonic. By the sound of their voice Misaki understood that she was being held in perhaps a hollowed shell of a building, she couldn't feel the weather outside and the echo they made reminded her only of metal.
"For ignoring the warning both of you will be punished", Tora continued, a over accomplished sense about his voice, "Right now I'm sure Usui is going out of his mind thinking he's lost you"
"So what?!", Misaki barked, still trying to pinpoint where Tora stood. His words were twisted but Misaki was certain he was wrong, after what had happened Usui wouldn't come, he wouldn't panic or lose himself, he didn't care enough to do anything like that. No matter how sure Tora was, Misaki knew Usui wouldn't be tormented by this.
"It's his punishment for breaking the rules", Continuing to explain, it was strange but Tora sounded as though he had scripted the words that came from him, "but I wonder what your punishment should be..."
"Fuck you", Misaki huffed, only greeting herself with more pain as she felt a slap burn across her cheek.
"What would be a suitable punishment for the proud and stubborn Misaki Ayuzawa", Tora continued. Misaki could feel his presence behind her as he knelt, his hand within her hair, smelling it within his grasp.
Meanwhile, Usui continued to burst from factory to factory, his breath was heavy as he sprinted relentlessly from place to place. Leaving no stone unturned he forced his way into storage containers and flung open every truck which passed his way. Still he couldn't find any sign or Misaki or the van, he questioned all he could but no one could give him answers, fitting since Usui knew that even if they did know something they were not likely to tell him anything. Checking his phone every so often it had now been an hour and half since he last heard from Misaki and no amount of calling was getting him any closer to her, he needed to think. Misaki was taken when she was on her own and provided it was by the same person who attacked her the previous night, they had no intention of revealing themselves. If that van did indeed come back for Misaki's phone then that would also point to not wanting to identify themselves, a general workers van with tinted windows was easy to come by. If whoever was causing all the trouble wanted to remain anonymous then they were unlikely to not want to get seen by other people and in a trading estate there were enough of those. Yet a factory would be a perfect place to hold someone, with all the other noise going on around no one would hear someone yelling and people very rarely pay attention if a workers van enters a trading estate so they wouldn't be questioned. The only question that remained was where, where could she be, scanning a map of the business park each part fell like a jigsaw puzzle in Usui's mind. Like the flicking of a light switch his eyes landed upon the North-West end of the map, five factories up that end had been abandoned as no business was listed, she had to be there, it all made perfect sense. Memorising the way there, Usui took off as fast as his legs could move, darting across the estate, all he could do was prey he would make it there and take Misaki back for his own. Thanks to Honoka, the situation between himself and Misaki was sore at best but he could not leave her, even if she didn't want him to come for her, even if she never wanted to see him again, Usui would always find his way to Misaki's side.
The further he went the quieter the estate became, dwindling down from a Hurley, thriving business park to an abandoned relic of industry in a matter of yards. It was then Usui found some hope, something to hold to, ditched in the middle of a car park in between three buildings, the black van which had previously eluded him came into sight. With no hesitation Usui bombarded the vehicle which appeared to have been left unlocked, throwing open the doors to straining point Usui called out for Misaki as he did only to be greeted with nothing, the whole vehicle had been emptied, there wasn't even a sign that she had been there before.
"She's not here", Tora voice chuckled from outside. Leaping out the van, Usui glanced around seeing nothing until his eyes were drawn to a shadow casting down from a top the van, where Tora sat kingly from his high and mighty position, making it clear he only looked down upon Usui, when in reality he was simply trying to avoid physical contact.
"Where did you take her?!... Tell me!", Usui demanded, he had no time to waste with Tora. Perhaps he should have been a little more surprised to find out that Tora was the one behind it all, but he wasn't, somehow Usui always knew he had something to do with it.
"Why would I tell you?", He scoffed, seemingly disgusted by Usui's authoritative order. A deadly smirk slowly creeping across his face, Tora continued, "She's not yours anymore"
"What have you done?!", Usui yelled, Tora's words like a needle to his heart. He could feel himself tensing, blood rushing and his breath quick, Usui white knuckles stung with the clenching of his fist, "I'll make you regret the day you trying to cross me"
"Getting angry won't bring her back-" Tora began, interrupted by a voice screaming out with incredible force.
"USUI!", It was faint at that distance but the voice was unmistakable. Misaki had screamed out from the factory of the left, by the look on Tora's face it had to be her.
Misaki crawled swiftly across the ground, the rough concrete scrapping at her knees as she did, she didn't feel the pain, doing all the should to move away from Tora. His twisted mind had continued to think of a suitable punishment for Misaki, suggesting that maybe taking her pride was the best way to go, if the student at Seika found out she worked as a maid Misaki's position as Student Council President would be ruined. The thought alone caught her breathless, to lose all that she had worked so hard to accomplish, it wasn't fair however when she protested, Tora proposed an even deadlier punishment. His words still rang within her ears as she shuffled from him, 'Or maybe I should take your innocence... You hate Usui for giving himself to someone else don't you? Then why not pay him back... Yes... I think I'll take your virginity', without thinking Misaki let out an Almighty scream calling for Usui upon hearing Tora's twisted words, fear pricked every part of her body all she thought about was escaping. Still unable to see she edged blindly in the dark, unknowing whether she was even moving away from the filthy Igarashi brat, Misaki continued on and on, hearing his laughter behind her.
Suddenly the sound of grinding metal like the sliding of a door filled the building, so loud that it threatened to drown out the sound of footsteps in Tora's direction as though he was running away. Misaki's head jolted around as she called out, she had no idea what was going on, she could hear no one and see nothing, something which drove more fear into her than previously. Not until a familiar smell comforted Misaki did she realise that someone was by her side, it was Usui and he began to remove her restraints, struggling against the bonds she helped to free herself, foolishly ripping the cloth from her face Misaki drown her eyes in light, blinding herself for a seconds as pain filled them as they adjusted. For that moment in time, Misaki had forgotten all about the problem between her and Usui as she glared on at him, she truly believed he wouldn't come for her and yet behind his eyes he appeared relieved to see her once again. However there were more pressing matters at hand, diving to her feet Misaki yanked upon Usui's arm.
"Come on! Tora went this way!", She yelled dragging him only a few steps before Usui stopped. "What are you doing?! We have to catch him!"
"W... What did you just say?", Usui stuttered in confusion.
"Tora was the one who took me! He ran out that way seconds ago, we can still catch him!", Misaki stressed pointing in the direction of a fire escape door which was flung wide open.
"Seconds ago? Tora?", Usui questioned still puzzled, "Misa are you sure?!"
"Yes! Of course I am! What's going on?", her voice urgent, but Misaki was withdrawn by the dazed look upon Usui's face. His words were stuttering in his mouth as he look back and forth between the fire escape and the door he entered through. "Misa... I've just seen Tora"
"What?!", She snapped.
"H... He", Composing himself Usui continued, "He's been outside with me for the past 5 minutes"
