Okay so I know I haven't updated this story in over a year and I'm sincerely sorry. I'm not going to make any excuses. I just truly didn't have any ideas and the ones that I did have I didn't know how to put into play. But I've finally thought of some ideas and I have a few ideas of how to put them into play and what's going to happen. Again, I'm really really sorry I have not written in this story but I'm back and ready to write. That being said, I present to you, the tenth chapter in A shed of light in the Darkness. Enjoy!

Charlie's Pov

Agitation gnawed at me as I glared at the suspect in front of me. He was a cocky teenager, about seventeen and had no intention of admitting that he had robbed the store. I resisted the urge to knock him out, knowing I could relieve my stress on my low life wife and spawn.

"I didn't do anything wrong." The kid smirked. "Did you see me take anything? Were you there? You can't prove anything."

Looking at him, I felt a smirk of my own appear. "No, I wasn't. But the security cameras were. They caught everything. And you'll be going away for a couple months. Let's see how good that'll look on your permanent record." I felt a dark satisfaction as he paled considerably.

He began to stammer out words but I paid them no attention as I left the room, letting one of the other officers take over. I walked over to my desk and grabbed my things, noting that the interview had gone on longer than I realized.

"Heading out?" Tim, a rookie new to the force, asked. I glanced at him. He was shorter than me, standing at five foot seven with bleached blond hair and dark eyes.

"Yeah. I'll be taking tomorrow off as well. It's my anniversary."

I turned and left before he made a comment and walked to my car. Getting in, I cranked up the heater and started driving home. Glancing down, I saw there was dried blood on my knuckles. I chuckled darkly as I wondered whose blood it belonged to.

Pulling up to the house, I saw Renee's car missing. Sudden anger flared up inside me. I turned off the engine and took off the seat belt, climbing out of the car. I ran up to the door and kicked it in with such force it broke. I ran inside, looking around.

"Renee!" I screamed loudly, running up the stairs. My steps pounded loudly against the hardwood floor as ran into the spawn's room. It was as I left it before. The floor was bloody and stained from the spawn's blood but it was nowhere to be seen.

Snarling loudly, I swung my fist out and punched a large hole in the wall. I felt the skin break and the blood run down my fingers but paid no attention to it. Pulling out my phone, I scrolled through my contacts and clicked the number.

It rang three times before someone picked up.

"Charlie." He answered with a tone of light amusement.

"I need a favor." I kept my voice cool and calm but my body was buzzing with anger.

"Another one? Sooner or later you'll have to start giving me something for my services." He mused, taking delight in the fact that I'm asking for another favor.

"You already have something. You do me favors, I let you live in town and keep your precious little secret hidden from everyone." I snapped, losing my patience fast.

He sighed. "Fine. What do you want? I'm a busy man, Charlie."

"I need you to find someone for me. Well, two actually." I answered, fisting my hand in pain.

"Not the first time you've asked. Who is it now? Serial killer? Rapist extraordinaire? Baby kidnapper? Garden ruiner?" He laughed at his own jokes.

"This isn't the time for jokes." I snapped harshly, the pain worsening.

"Who are these people you want me to find then?" He asked, his tone implying a bored mood.

"It's personal. And need's to be done as soon as possible." I explained.

"Well, I'll need something of theirs. A piece of clothing with their scent." He responded calmly.

"I can get you that. I just need to know the time and place to meet up."

"And who exactly do you want me to find?" He sounded curious, no doubt taking pleasure in my agitated state.

"I need you to find my wife and our spawn."

The air smelled thickly of oil and fish water, the ground littered with empty beer bottles, needles, cans and food. I scowled in disgust as I rounded the corner of the warehouse and walked inside, glancing around. It was large and open spaced, machinery placed in random spots from where the workers had left them, too lazy to put them back in their proper place. I kept walking till I was in the middle of the warehouse. For precautionary measures, I had brought my 9 millimeter glock and had it tucked in the pocket of my coat.

Glancing up when I heard footsteps, I saw him making his way toward me. He was dressed in all black, with a heavy trench coat on and a hoodie, disguising his face. He wasn't one to show his face to the people unless he was ready to kill.

"Charlie." He nodded at me, stopping a few feet away. "Do you have the stuff?"

"Yes. And I need it done quickly. Bring them back by next week. I can't have the people suspecting me of anything." I explained darkly.

I reached into my pocket and pulled out two pieces of clothing, both stained in blood. He raised an eyebrow as he took them from my hand. Pressing them both to his nose, he took in a deep breath.

"The smell in the clothes is potent but it's been hours and due to the weather conditions the smell has dissipated. But I know where to look. I'll find them." He said with complete certainty.

"I don't doubt you will. Pleasure doing business with you."

I stuck out my hand and he shook it firmly, smirking when he saw me wince.

"You should get that looked at." He chuckled and walked away, the two shirts in his hand.

As I turned around and made my way out of the warehouse, I smiled evilly into the night.

"I'm coming for you, Renee."
