Disclaimer: I don't own Kingdom Hearts, nor am I making money from writing this drabble.
Warnings/Notes/Rating: Rated a high T. Contains shounen ai, profanity, and a bit of Kairi bashing (oops…I'm not usually one who bashes characters, but this was how it came out…). This is also AU-ish and drama. I wrote this for a Valentine's day theme drabble wars with Saku earlier this year. This contains color meanings of roses as well…
Saku's prompt: Riku/Sora- Riku felt weird as he fought against the teenaged girls attempting to grab the cutest Valentine's gift for their loves. Being the only boy in the shop was bad enough, but desperate enough to actually push and elbow girls out of the way was almost more th[a]n his pride could stand.

Drabble 10: Riku 4

He tried really hard not to glare at the idiot girls around him. Why was he here at the store again? Oh right. It was Valentine's day and he forgot to get Sora something for it until literally the last minute. As in him waking up to Sora cuddling against his chest super early on this (horrid) Valentine's morning. He was lucky Sora was such a deep sleeper because he was able to move out from under him and give him a kiss goodbye, all without Sora ever opening his gorgeous blue eyes.
He eyed the roses of many colors and wondered what exactly Sora would like. He knew Sora was kind of a hopeless romantic, the complete opposite of Riku. And even though Riku was kind of a hard ass that didn't mean he didn't know the meaning of each color for roses. He thought a bouquet of Red ("I love you"), White (purity/innocence), and Orange (passion) and blue (unattainable, impossible) were perfect for Sora and what he meant to him—because even with the blue roses in the bouquet Riku had attained the impossible with Sora. The blue was Sora's eyes…and Sora was a rare gem, so unique…and all Riku's after so much toil and heartache. He was blessed to have Sora's purity, love, and passion. So blessed.
Suddenly someone bumped into him hard making him stumble.
"Watch where you're standing jack ass."
His eyes glared fire and death at this callous creature who dared to insult him. It was Kairi. He instantly deflated and pretended she didn't exist. It was best. Sora would be angry with him if he hurt Kairi's feelings.
"So like you to ignore someone when they're talking to you. And not to apologize for being rude."
Oh yeah. She was still pissed that Sora chose him over her. He continued to ignore the girl and went over to the shop keeper and put in the request for the bouquet arrangement he wanted to get Sora. Kairi followed behind him saying loud, awful things where everybody could hear.
"He should know you're a whore and all the fuckers you've slept around with."
Riku was grinding his teeth using all his willpower not to throw her through a window or smash her face against a wall. He silently willed the shop keeper to hurry and ring him up. He tried desperately to ignore all the stares being drilled into his back, and that was when he heard a loud slap from behind him. And the deafening silence that followed.
"How dare you talk to Riku that way, Kairi! I love him and these are lies. You're just a jealous little girl who can't take no for an answer. You apologize to him right now! Or I'll slap your other cheek!"
He turned in a heartbeat to see Sora's angry countenance, his lover's hand raised to lash out against Kairi again. She glared at Sora and kept her stubborn silence. She wouldn't say a word. Sora's hand began the descent to strike, but his hand never made landfall against her face because Riku grasped Sora's wrist and pulled him into a tight hug.
"It's okay, Sora. I don't care what she says about me. And she's not worth getting upset over. Calm down, love of mine," Riku whispered against Sora's ears, laying light kisses against the boy's temple.
"Sir, your bouquet?" The shop keeper awkwardly interrupted them.
Riku took the bouquet from the shop keeper, paid him, and then gave the roses to Sora, who gasped in delight.
"Happy Valentine's day," Riku said and gave a very awkward smile, holding his arms open for the tackle he knew he was about to receive.
Somewhere in all the fuss, he thought he vaguely recognized Kairi stomping out of the store.
