Hi. I don't own this. My OC's suck. Don't flame.
Rin looked around. They had been in the testing for a few days now, being dismissed after seemingly nothing important happened.
It was the same large white room.
They were the same posse of scientist and exorcists.
It was the same cleaning-product-like aroma.
But something was… off?
It was kind of acidic, what was off. Maybe they were stepping up the testing a bit?
Probably. Perhaps they received new orders from the Vatican?
Rin sighed. It's weird having you in my brain.
Get used to it. Something smells weird, though.
No, really? Rin though sarcastically.
One of the testers looked at him expectantly. "What?" Rin asked.
"Do it," the tester said vaguely.
"Do what?"
"The flame thing. Do it," the tester ordered.
"I though I wasn't supposed to 'display demonic tendencies'," he said in a trying tone.
"You were also told to obey all orders," the tester answered in the same voice.
Rin sighed. They want me to spontaneously combust.
If it were anybody else, I'd be concerned.
What are they doing to you?
They want me to take a survey. And they're also mumbling about something that I can't make out.
Nice.
"So, are you going to do it?"
"Yeah, sure," Rin shrugged. Then he carefully grabbed his sword and took it out of its case.
"You can't do that," the tester observed. "You may only do it naturally."
Rin settled for just looking at them, "I don't know how to do it naturally."
"You don't?" the tester asked. Rin nodded. The scientists and observers started scribbling things down.
"Okay, that's acceptable," the tester said. "Now, we want you to take a survey."
The tester calmly pulled out a piece of paper and started reading through it.
"Your first question is… what is your favorite color?"
Rin stared at him as if he had gone mad. "Excuse me," Rin said, but did you just ask me what my favorite color is? I'm not four!"
"Answer the question."
Yukio was having a weird time with his testers.
First, they had him take a survey based on basic exorcist knowledge. Then they had him try to find a small glass bottle of…
"Is this holy water?" Yukio asked. One of the exorcists there nodded. Yukio shrugged it off.
"Is this it? I have papers to grade," Yukio asked, deadpan. He didn't enjoy the survey, or them changing the routine.
"So, you knew what it was immediately? How?" one of them asked. "Well," Yukio stated uncomfortably, "It smelt slightly different then regular water, so I guessed that it was."
"How different?"
"Like…" he didn't want to admit that it smelt like acid. "It's hard to describe."
"Try."
"Acidic, almost, but not quite."
"Acidic," the tester summed up. "How likely."
Yukio really didn't care whether they believed him or not. "Can I leave now?"
"You seem anxious to leave."
"And you wouldn't?" he retorted.
"One more thing," the tester sighed.
"Yes," Yukio glared.
"We want you to go immediately to Sir Pheles after this. You may be escorted out now."
Three of the exorcists walked Yukio to the door, one of them using a key to transport them to Mephisto's office.
"Ah, Yukio," Mephisto greeted.
"Hello, Sir Pheles," Yukio answered back.
Mephisto dismissed the three exorcists and then stared at Yukio in curiosity. "Do you want something?"
"A lot, actually. This is the only place you'll ever be that isn't bugged," Mephisto said curtly. Then he smiled. "Please sit," he commanded, "Your brother should be here soon."
Niisan, Yukio decided to ask. Yeah, what?
Are you anywhere close to leaving.
Yeah. I'm finishing a toddler's survey right now.
A…toddler's survey?
Yeah. The first question was what my favorite color was. The one I'm being asked now is what do you want to be when you grow up.
Yukio sighed verbally.
"I take it Rin's not being released soon?" Mephisto questioned eagerly.
"I'm not sure. He claims he's taking a child's survey," Yukio replied with aspiration.
"I trust you can relay a message to him, then?" Mephisto asked.
"Yes, I can."
"When given the opportunity to ask questions, you have to decline. They record everything, and you'll be surprised by exactly how much they've found out about you."
Yukio's interest spiked. "How much do they know about us?"
Mephisto smirked. "They know," he started counting on his fingers, "Around half as much as you ever wanted them to, and you've been there for only a few days. They intend to keep this up for years."
Yukio nodded gravely. "We've been trying to keep them from knowing too much. How can we help it?"
"Simply don't answer any more then you have to," Mephisto replied.
Yukio then gave him a long analysis. "Why isn't your office bugged. They know you're a demon."
"Easy," Mephisto said, "I didn't allow them to. If they tried to hide them, I'd find them. If they threatened me for it, it would be empty. They can't really do anything without a number of people finding out."
"Who?" Yukio asked with keen interest.
"Many, many people. They can't help you though, as much."
Yukio nodded again.
I'm free now!
They told me to go to Mephisto's office. Are you there? Rin asked. Yukio groaned.
So you weren't listening in to the conversation I just had?
I can listen into conversations?
Yukio sighed. That had been one of the first things he had learned with his telepathy…
Hi. We've been gone for a long time. And guess what? We aren't going to beg for reviews either! You can (should) still review though.
