A/N: So, I may have not contributed to this story for 3 years. I'm honestly surprised anyone is still reading it, and I wasn't planning on continuing it at all. I guess you can thank 'Piperw142' for this chapter, as your follow notification reminded me that this fic exists. I may go back and heavily edit the past chapters, but I don't know if I'm prepared to spend more time on this. I felt like it needed this chapter though. Please don't expect more, although maybe in 3 years time I'll return. Have fun if you're still reading.

I felt a stiff hand grasp mine suddenly, but I dared not remove the offending member that was slowly squeezing the blood from my hand. A quick glance told me Sadie was frozen, staring at the boy who had introduced himself as Drew's boyfriend.

Just as suddenly as she held my hand, she wrenched it away, and used it to slap the gaping face in front of us. The crack echoed through the restaurant and Sadie fled the scene before I could get my head around the proceedings. The bell at the door jingled as Sadie slammed the door shut, and I stood for a moment or two more looking up at the now red faced boy. The tension in the air was palpable as the tall dark boy ran a hand through his cropped hair. Drew was also staring at him, having taken a few steps back to avoid the wrath of Sadie. I decided that following my new Egyptian friend was my best bet to finding out what the connection was, so I quickly finished paying for the meal and raced out after her.

She wasn't that hard to find. I hurried down the street and entered what I thought was her most probable destination in an unknown part of town, the park. Sadie sat curled on a park bench, and the closer I got the louder her sobs became. I sat down beside her, careful to leave some space, and she looked up, startled. Recognition filled her eyes, and she scrambled for her purse.

"I'm so sorry," she spluttered, pulling out a $20 note, "I didn't mean for you to have to pay for lunch yourself. I just-"

She broke down again, folding in on herself as I refused to take the money from her. Shuffling a bit closer, i reached around her quivering frame and patted her awkwardly on the back. I had absolutely no experience in the matter of consoling sobbing girls, my sister Bianca had never acted like this. I wanted to ask her why she was had reacted like this to seeing the other boy, but I didn't want to disturb her. I continued with my weird back patting, feeling stiff and unhelpful. Eventually she did calm though, the sobs racking through her body came at a less frequent pace.

Sadie took a deep breath, and lifted herself upright, pressing her back against the bench back as I pulled my hand back to avoid being squashed. She wiped the tears from her eyes using the back of her hand, taking another heaving breath. It took her a second or two, but Sadie calmed herself, enough so that she could talk.

She exhaled, and bit her lip before any more tears could emerge before turning back to me.

"Walt is," she blinked quickly as a tear tried to escape, "or was, my boyfriend."

I still didn't quite understand her reaction, although I thought it was odd that the boy had claimed Drew was his girlfriend.

"He's actually the reason that I ended up in the Duat," Sadie continued explaining to me.

"I was suspicious about his behaviour back at home, always making excuses, so I followed him. I guess I know the reason now."

I just sat there awkwardly as she revealed how Walt shared a body with Anubis, and the how they had gotten together, and how everything had been great up until a few months ago.

Walt had become distant, not returning her calls, brushing off her attempts at affection. She decided she wouldn't let him go without a fight, they had been through so much together, so she concocted her plan to follow him on a mission, but obviously got stuck in the Duat. With him.

"I'm sorry again Nico, I overreacted when I saw him with her." While she had been speaking, I'd ended up with her hand in mine yet again, and without thinking I began to run my thumb in circles around her palm.

"I've had a run in with that girl before, at a dance a few years ago, I just can't believe that Walt could betray me like that. After all we've been though. For her." With her last words, Sadie hung her head, looking at the graveled path and she scraped her feet on the ground.

"He's an idiot, Sadie," I told her, trying to smile as she looked up at me in surprise, "and you haven't overreacted. Anyone who's been through what you have deserves to feel like they can trust someone. You placed your trust in him, and he's let you down. He is the one who should be apologising."

I didn't know what had provoked me to say all that, but I knew it was true. The Sadie that I had met today was wonderful and smart and funny, and this guy Walt had just torn her heart into a million pieces. I couldn't help but feel a welling on anger inside me, a wrath that reminded me of my father.

Footsteps approached us from a distance, as Sadie gazed at me as if she had only just realised I was there. A shadow fell on where we sat, and a rough cough announced the presence of an audience.

Sadie and I both looked up at the same time to see Walt, and our hands flew apart. Walt looked between the two of them, confused, and Sadie's face, which had been previously open and vulnerable, hardened.

"He's a friend, Walt," Sadie said, as she stood up to confront the looming figure. "Which makes him closer to me than you are now."

Walt looked like he'd been slapped. Again. He stuttered, trying to find an explanation for his actions, but words seemed to fail him as Sadie started again.

"Who is she Walt? How long have you been cheating on me? With her?" Pain laced her words, but she continued on, even as Drew emerged from the distance and walked towards the group.

"Why Walt?," Saide glanced back at me, and I gave her a nod of encouragement. "Why would you do this to me?"

Walt didn't seem to have an answer, because her stood there mutely as an increasingly desperate and hurt Sadie questioned him.

Drew was upon them now, and she moved to stand next to Walt. Sadie threw the intruder an icy glare, managing to ingrain enough hatred into her look that the Asian girl paled a bit. Walt sidestepped out of the way as Drew attempted to grasp his hand, and Sadie harrumphed.

"So Walt? Are you going to answer me at all? Or should I just leave now? I'm sure when Carter hears he won't be too happy with you. Even if you are our resident charm maker."

Walt seemed to finally find his words, but Sadie ignored his apologies as she turned back to where I was still sitting on the bench.

I couldn't hide my disdain for the pathetic guy and we walked away together, and I followed Sadie further into the park.

She took my hand again as we left, and although I felt awful about what had happened to Sadie, I couldn't help but feel a happiness from the fact that I'd made such an amazing friend. Maybe things would look up from here.

So yeah... there you go. Seeya later my chickies,
