Chapter 10

Thordis, Sif, Fandral, and Volstagg all barged into the prison, running right into the middle of a heated fight between the guards and prisoners. Almost as soon as they entered, their weapons clashed with the enemies.

"Jeez." Darcy said, easily batting several away, not even letting one touch her. "You guys got a full house down here."

"We've been busy." Sif retorted, slashing the throat of one foolish prisoner.

"Do you think they resented being imprisoned?" Fandral joked, slashing his foil across another's chest.

"There is no pleasing some creatures." Volstagg said sternly, bashing a large ogre with the blunt end of his war-axe, before bringing the entire blade down upon it.

Nearby, Loki continued to sit in his cell, seemingly oblivious to the fighting going on around him. Back against the wall of his cell, Loki calmly read a book, not even looking up when an ogre was thrown into the shimmering field of his cell and consequently fried by the energy. He merely cast it a casually glance, shrugged, and then flipped the page.

"They really do not let up." Sif growled, easily cutting down enemy after enemy.

Darcy smirked. "Let's see them get up from this!"

Instantly, all eyes were on Thordis as she raised Mjolnir up high. It started crackling with electricity, and soon, it was glowing, and Darcy jerked it forward. Bolts of lightning immediately began flying from the metal, seeking out a prisoner to strike. The entire group of prisoners standing before her were electrocuted violently by the bolts, convulsing and twitching in agony as they were fried. Soon, they all dropped dead, and Darcy smirked, twirling her hammer around.

"Yup." She said. "Meow-meow gets it done."

Sif just rolled her eyes. "It's Mjolnir."

"That's what I said." Darcy said, frowning.

"No, you said-"

Sif was cut off when a large troll appeared behind Darcy, and swung an enormous mace that sent her flying across the room. She flew right past Sif, Fandral, and Volstagg, who looked surprised for a moment before turning back to glare at the troll who attacked her. While they were dealing with the beast, Darcy kept flying until she hit the ground face first, landing right in front of a certain prince's cell. Inside, Loki blinked, having heard a girl screaming, and looked up just as Darcy pulled herself up.

"Ow." Darcy grumbled, and it was then that she locked eyes with the person in the cell before her. Her eyes widened. "Uh..."

Loki was visibly surprised to see her. This was the last place he ever expected to encounter her again. The two just stared at each other for a few moments, before Loki suddenly jerked his head towards something behind her. Darcy followed his gaze and immediately jumped away from a large flail that was imbedded in the ground where she was lying, and glared up at the ogre who tried to attack her.

With a grunt, she tossed Mjolnir up, and it struck the ogre's head, knocking it clean off. Mjolnir then flew back, landing safely in Darcy's hands. Getting back up to her feet, Darcy started to make her way back to the others.

"You're welcome." Loki called sarcastically.

Darcy paused, and turned to glare at the prince of lies. "I didn't need your help."

"He would have devoured you." Loki said, smirking.

Darcy gave a hmph. "He wouldn't have liked it."

ooooo

Odin swiftly barged into the grand hall of his palace, a large number of Asgardian warriors trailing after him. He glanced at the captain of the group.

"Send a squadron to the weapons vault and defend it at all costs. Seal the dungeon." He ordered. As Odin made his way to the throne room, he passed by Frigga, Jane, and Hikesh.

"Odin." Frigga said.

Odin paused, and turned to face his beloved wife. "Frigga..." He stopped, facing the guards with a glare. "Go!"

The guards immediately obeyed and scrambled out of the room. Once they were gone, Odin turned his gaze back to his wife. "It is a skirmish. Nothing to fear."

"You've never been a very good liar." Frigga said, smiling. Suddenly, the group of Thordis, Sif, Fandral, and Volstagg joined them.

"The prisoners in the dungeon have been subdued." Sif explained. "But there are others still loose in the palace."

Odin nodded, but then frowned. He gazed out a nearby window that overlooked the great cityscape. He stared intently at the sky, as if searching for something.

"Something is wrong." He finally said, and turned back to Frigga. "Take the girl to our chambers. I'll come for you when it's safe."

"You take care." Frigga worryingly said, casting him a warm smile.

Odin smiled. "Despite all I have survived, my queen still worries over me."

"Aw." Darcy said in the background. "It's like Shakespeare but with old people."

"Shh!" Jane hissed, glaring at Darcy.

Not seeming to hear Darcy, Frigga continued to smile. "It's only because I worry over you that you have survived."

The two shared one last loving look at each other, before Odin left them leaving to join the group of guards he sent off before. Once he was gone, the group was left alone.

"Okay." Darcy said. "So, what do you do no..."

A loud noise immediately drowned out her speech. The group all turned their heads outside, and were shocked by the sight that met them. Appearing out of the clouds, in a haze of dark right light and electricity, a large ship emerged. It looked like a giant squid, and had an enormous, red optic-like eye beneath its tentacles.

The group watched as it descended towards the Bifrost, and it was followed closely by a number of smaller ships. These ships were different in design, appearing like fighters with an aged black metal. While the larger ship looked polished and reverently cared for, the smaller fighters looked ancient.

"What the fuck is that?" Darcy said loudly.

"It's a ship." Jane said, edging closer to the window to get a better look at it. "Look at the size of it!"

"It doesn't look like any ship I've seen." Volstagg added.

"Nor have I." Sif said, but then she glanced back to see Hikesh, who was backing away slowly. His face was etched with fear and shock. He looked like was going to throw up.

"Hikesh...?" Sif asked, when suddenly, Frigga grabbed Jane and Sif, who were closest to the window, and pulled them away.

"Move!" She ordered, as one of the fighters suddenly swooped in and fired at their location with red plasma. The plasma exploded against the window, destroying the great architecture.

"I think this situation has moved beyond the standard prison break." Fandral muttered, waving his hand through all the dust.

"Indeed." Sif said, sparing one last look at Hikesh, who still looked like he had seen a ghost.

"They want a fight," Darcy said, gripping Mjolnir. "they just got one."

Jane's eyes went wide. "Darcy, I know that look. Don't..."

But Darcy just ignored Jane and, twirling Mjolnir, flew out the window and towards the ships. The group watched as she swiftly batted one of the sky, sending it crashing to the ground.

"Well, I suppose that's helpful." Sif said, quirking an eyebrow.

Frigga was glaring at the ship in the distance, and then glanced at Jane. She turned to Hikesh. "Listen to me. I want you to take the girl and hide her someplace safe. The rest of you, cover the halls. Do whatever you can to keep anyone from reaching the throne room."

"What about you?" Sif asked, worried.

Frigga looked at her sternly. "I will be fine. Now, go!"

ooooo

The citizens of Asgard all screamed in fear as the alien ship slowly descended and landed in their great city. Letting out a large, metallic cry, the ship started walking slowly over the city with its large, tentacle-like appendages. Screams of the citizens filled the air, and the ship actually seem to groan in annoyance with the Asgardian defense guns opened fire on it. However, they didn't even pierce it's shell, as a transparent force field seemed to be protecting it, and the blasts bounced right off of it.

Turning towards one of the large air defense towards, the ship's 'eye' started glowing. Then, with a loud swish, a beam of pulsing red energy shot out of the eye, and struck the tower. A brilliant explosion engulfed the tower as rubble and fire fell from it, striking the ground below.

Groaning in satisfaction, the ship turned and started firing its beam around wildly at the streets, killing hundreds of Asgardians. Around it, the Dark Elf ships provided covering fire, not that it really needed it. But they were useful, gunning down several Asgardian fighters sent in to stop it.

Nearby, Thordis raced through the air, batting down a passing Dark Elf fighter. Soaring a superspeed, she pointed Mjolnir, firing a bolt of lightning that struck a ship, blowing it up in midair. She soared quickly over another, delivering a large thrust with her hammer that sent it careening into the city below, exploding against the ground.

Then, with great speed, she intercepted one, crashing into it hammer first, and knocking it out of the sky. It fell wildly through the air, until it impacted with the large mothership, exploding against its shield.

This caught the ship's attention, and it looked up to face the thunder goddess batting away the fighters.

As she dealt with another ship, Darcy blinked when a bright red light shined over her. Glancing down, her eyes widened, when the ship fired its red beam, and she quickly soared out of the way, the beam trailing closely behind her.

As she avoided the beam, it washed over numerous Asgardian structures, blowing them up. Eventually, the beam stopped, and Darcy looked at the destruction it caused.

"Holy shit." She said, and then glared up at the mothership. "This is gonna take some more firepower."

As she ship marched towards her, Darcy pointed Mjolnir up into the sky, and the ship paused as it watched the sky distort, lightning raining down and into the hammer. Electricity coarsed through the hammer, down Darcy's arm, and through her armor, and soon, her entire body was pulsing with electricity.

She smirked. "How to you like this!"

With a yell, Thordis raced at supersonic speed towards the mothership, ready to blow right through it. But Darcy, instead of impacting with the sup, impacted with the mothership's force field, which pulsed and vibrated violently when she struck it. However, she failed to break through it, and the mothership just stood still, not even faltering.

As the energy left her, Darcy looked shocked, and the ship's eye glared at her, and Darcy could almost sense a smug smirk being directed towards her.

She gave a nervous laugh. "Uh... sorry?"

Giving a metallic wail in reply, the ship fired its beam at her point blank, and Darcy screamed as she felt the searing hot beam strike her and blow her away from the ship. Her skin and armor were burned as the beam sent her flying away, crashing right into a building. She dropped Mjolnir along the way, and it crashed into the streets below, skidding along the ground until it came to a stop.

As she found herself lodged into the side of a building, Darcy's head was spinning. Her armor was totally damaged, her hair was a mess and her face was bruised and burned. Her entire cape had been nearly incinerated. She looked up at the mothership with groggy eyes, watching as it marched towards the palace.

"Okay." She muttered. "That one hurt."

And that was that last thing she said before she fell to the ground and lost consciousness.

Chapter ten done :) thanks for reading, and thank you, HTKWolfe777, for tuning it. Glad to see your still around. Now, I'll answer a few questions.

Now, here's the reason why Coulson isn't leading the S.H.I.E.L.D. team in this universe. See, if you recall from United They Stand, Loki's attack on him was much more brutal that the original, so his wounds were much more life threatening. So, as of now, Coulson is pretty dead. He will return later, just not in the same fashion as before.

Thanks for reading, review pleaz.
