My plans

A/N Thank you to the amazing feedback from everyone!

As soon as I'm out of sight of the Owlery, I jump up and down. He said yes! He actually said yes! I am going to the Christmas Ball with Sebastian Trill. And we're going to Hogsmeade! Haha!

When I get the common room, I remember to compose myself. I'd asked him not to tell anyone, so it wouldn't go for me to spill the beans. I'm not sure what everyone will say, epically Lucy.

Lucy has been better the last few weeks, but usual flirtatious manner has dimmed slightly. I never thought it would be this bad. It's like somebody ran off with the old Lucy, leaving her faded twin in her place.

I see Elsa sitting, writing an essay. A pile of books surrounds her, and she flicks through the large one near her left knee.

I sit beside her on the carpet. I'll tell Elsa. I have to tell SOMEBODY, otherwise I think I'll burst.

'Elsa, I asked Seb to the ball.' This gets her attention, and her head shoots up, eyes gleaming excitedly.

'I assume he said yes!' She squeals.

'How did you tell?' I laugh.

'You looked so happy.' She clicks her fingers. 'Ask him to Hogsmeade! It's this weekend!'

I smile, happy beyond belief. I don't really believe a boy should be able to do this to me, but he has.

'He's already asked me.'

She claps her hands together, and a few people look round.

'Perfect!'

'But it's a secret!' I say, more quietly. She smiles, tapping her lips with her finger.

'Your secret is safe with me, lovebird.'

'Hey!' I shove her. She smiles more, until she is grinning like the Chesire Cat. 'Anyway, has Al asked you yet?'

She looks down. 'You do know, I do officially have a boyfriend.'

'But you hate him, don't you?' She thinks over this thought, and nods. 'So go ask Al to the ball!'

'Oh, but I can't can I? I mean, I haven't really broken up with Robert, and he is your brother.'

'You can easily go break up with Mr Green, and as Albus' sister I give you permission to go ask him out.' I hug her. 'Come on. I know you have been toying with this idea for at least a year.'

She stands up, determination alive in her eyes. She flicks her hair over her shoulder.

'Where's Al?' She asks.

'Deal with Robert first. I'll get Al whilst you break up with Robert.'

'Okay!' She high fives me, and I jump up.

'Thunderbirds are go!' I say enthusiastically, and she laughs whilst we gain a few worried looks. Elsa is muggle born, and therefore one of the few that understands this reference.

Simon Davies gives me a thumbs up. He's muggle born too.

Elsa's point of view.

Lily laughs as the few people in the common room give her strange looks.

Right, plan for this morning WAS to do my Potions essay, but it is now break up with sort of boyfriend and hopefully gain a new one. Good thing I adapt to change quickly. You have to be at Hogwarts. Things to can start or stop in the blink of an eye. Take the relationship of Lily and Art for instance. Good friends for years, then dating for less than 24 hours, to probably never to speak to each other again.

It's around 9, so generally, Robert should be in the library. I don't want to do this publicly, but I'm not going to wait until I can do it privately. I might have lost the courage by then.

I walk into the library, and look at the faces of the early workers. Not many people are here on a Saturday morning, and I have to say most of them are unsurprisingly Ravenclaws. Lots of people think that this is because they are eager to do homework, but Jon Bell tells me it is just common sense. I get it; do homework earlier and more time to relax later. I've been doing it too.

Jon and I have become really close the last couple of months, and we've had a bet going to see how long it was going to take for Seb and Lily to ask each other out. He owes me 5 Galleons.

I spot Robert sitting in the corner with his usual crowd of jocks. I don't really even know why I started going out with him anyway.

'Hey Els. Been a while.' He smirks. Bastard.

'Yes, it has.' Keep it short, Elsa, reign in that temper. 'I'd prefer it to stay that way as well.' He looks shocked. I suppose I can give myself a little swag. 'Bye, Robert. See you around.' I flick my hair over my shoulder, grinning like a maniac inside. 'By the way, that means it's over.'

Then I turn and stalk out. I hear Robert's friends laughing at him, and a seventh year Ravenclaw raises his hand for me to high five him when I'm out of sight of Robert.

'Good on you.' He says. 'He needed taking down a peg or two.'

I'm surprised but pleased by this reaction. I thank him, then I'm on my way. I need to find Albus. Use those ten seconds of courage Mum says everyone has.

Lily has sent Al to the North Courtyard, or so her Patronus tells me. I know the way, but I can't help following the doe through the corridors, and I'm almost hypnotised by its eerie white glow.

He's standing in the falling snow, a few flakes melting on his head. He looks up to the sky.

'Hi Al.' I stand tentatively on the edge of the courtyard.

'Elsa. Hi' he seems almost breathless, and his cheeks are flushed pink in comparison to his pale face.

'I need to ask you something.' I walk towards him, and he stares at me. 'Would you come the Christmas ball with me?'

He looks surprised, and doesn't answer. Then he kisses me. I wrap my arms around his neck.

I assume this is a yes.

It's cold, and the snow is going down the back of my jumper and melting but boy, I am feeling so hot right now.

Feeling victorious, I find Lily.

I hug her.

'Thank you.' I say, and I mean it. 'Thank you for telling me I could do it.'

Back to Lily

Elsa's face is flushed with cold, and snow is melting in her hair.

'Thank you' she says, and it's all I need to tell me I've done the right thing.

Today has been a good day for young love.
