A/N: Hello again! Before we get started, I'd like to give a huge thank you to winterschild11 for reviewing last chapter! I planned on have this chapter up sooner, but I've been working on a couple of my other stories since they're close to being finished.

This chapter isn't too exciting, but it has a serious discussion and a little Kames-fluff so I hope you all enjoy!

Next To Me (Part 2)

"I've missed this." Carlos said as the four of us sat together in the living room.

"I second that." Logan chimed in from his spot beside Carlos.

"You guys act like it's been months since we've hung out together." I said with a light chuckle, deciding to ignore the slight pang in my chest.

"Well it might as well have been months because it sure feels like it." Carlos muttered with Logan nodded in agreement.

"He's right. Things haven't really been the same without you Jay." Logan said, his words only adding to the guilt that I was feeling.

"Guys." Kendall said with a warning tone, giving them a stern look in the process. Logan understood, giving Kendall a knowing look before sending an apologetic look my way. But Carlos…

"He has a point. Remember when James signed with Hawk? We were a wreck!"

"Carlos!" Kendall and Logan snapped, but it was too late. The damage had already been done.

"I'll be right back." I said softly before getting and quickly walking out of the room before any of them had a chance to stop me.

I let out a shaky breath once I was alone, wishing that this guilt that I was feeling would just go away.

"Jay?" I heard Kendall call out from the doorway, making me wonder why I didn't think to close the door behind me. "You know they didn't mean what they said the way you think they did right?" He asked as he made his way over to me.

"I know. But that doesn't mean they're wrong." I said before sitting down on the bed. "What if I made the wrong choice? Logan and Carlos are right. The four of us have been apart before and I know you remember how great that turned out." I said bitterly, and I can tell by the look on Kendall's face that he remembers as well. But there's also something else in his eyes, something that I couldn't quite place.

"Okay, what's this really about?" He asked in a gentle, yet firm tone.

"I don't know what you-" I started, only to be cut off.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about Jay. We've been apart for a month. And yes, it's killed me being away from you for so long. I know that Carlos and Logan have missed you too. But we've managed and you know it. So what's this really about?" He asked, shocking me in the process.

"Okay, fine." I muttered, knowing that I was really just dancing around the real problem. "I just… I'm scared."

"Care to elaborate on that a little?" He asked as he scooted a little closer to me.

"It's like you said, we've only been apart a month, and this past month has been hard enough. But I go back to LA in a few days. Who knows when we'll see each other again." I said, deciding to get everything off my chest.

"James…" He sighed, clearly trying to choose his words carefully. "We've talked about this. I know that this is going to be hard. But it's like you said, getting through the hard times are what makes everything worth it. It's what allows us to cherish the moments that we do have together." He said, his words making me nod my head a little in agreement.

"You're right." I said, knowing that the past couple of weeks have been amazing.

"I meant what I said James. I'm willing to work through this. I want to give this long-distance thing a shot because I know in my heart that everything will work out, that the love we have for each other is strong enough to make it through this. But I need you to be willing to do the same." He said, his words making my heart flutter a little.

"I'm sorry." I muttered, continuing before he could ask me what I meant. "I only have a couple more days here. We should be enjoying them, not moping." I said.

"It's okay. Besides, you're not the only one with worries." He said, making me look as him in confusion.

"What do you mean?" I asked, even though I think I had a pretty good idea of what he was talking about.

"You're not the only one that's worried Jay. I've had times where I wondered if this would work out or not." He said as he laced our fingers together. "But I just keep telling myself what I told you. Reminding myself of how much we love each other. And of course having Carlos and Logan around for reassurance doesn't hurt either." He added, making me chuckle a little.

"You're right. I don't know how, but I honestly believe we're going to make it through this." I said, thinking that maybe this talk was all I really needed.

"Good. Next time you're doubting if you made the right choice of not, just think about this moment right here." He said, giving me hand a gentle, yet firm squeeze for emphasis. "Think about how much we love each other, and think about the fact that you're fulfilling your dream." He said softly, a smile forming on my face in the process.

"I love you." I whispered before pulling him in for a quick, yet passionate kiss.

"I love you too." He said once he broke away from the kiss, a small smile forming on his lips.

We sat there in silence for a few seconds before I suddenly got up.

"We should get back out there before they start to worry." I said to which he just nodded his head before following my lead.

I wasn't sure what the future held, but I was positive that we were going to get through it. Together.

Done! Sorry if this chapter wasn't all that exciting and that it took a while to update, but to make it up to you, I'll have another chapter up on Saturday! The chapter will be a little longer and will be more interesting!

And just to let you all know, next chapter will have James POV. Chapter after that will be completely in Ryder's POV, then there will be a chapter in Kendall's POV. And the story will really start picking up once we get to the chapter in Kendall's POV! Carlos and Logan will also have a bigger part as well!
