A/N:

I AM BEYOND SORRY. I've had a ridiculous amount of work and just haven't had the time at all.

Thanks to Plucie, you really gave me a kick up the arse to fit in some fic time. Even though your review was three weeks ago, it really helped/motivated me so thank you 3

Sorry again for taking so long with this, I won't promise another quick update because it might not be possible but I promise to try update asap. Believe it or not there are times when I'm on the bus home wishing I could just be writing for you guys. I feel terrible for not updating sooner, like I'm letting my very limited amount of readers down. Sorry guys :(

Anyway, here it is, enjoy and as always feel free to review

Love Cookie xx

P.S: Sorry about any spelling/grammar mistakes, I know if I go over it again something will come up and it might not be posted for another week, so with an update in mind, sorry in advance.

Chapter 10- Plan Two aka The-Plan-To-Get-Rid-Of-The-Hot-Love-Child-Of-A-Tro ll-And-Goblin

Scorpius walked down the dorm stairs, pausing at the bottom as he peered into the common room. He was awake early and got bored of listening to Lysander snore. He thought the common room would be a good place to sit and read until breakfast began. Apparently he wasn't the only one, he watched with a smile on his face as both Olivia and Roxanne sat together reading what looked like matching books. They chattered softly over the books and pointed to different pages smiling. Eventually, Roxanne paused and pulled her bag onto her lap as if remembering something. She pulled out a vial of clear liquid while tugging on out one of her hairs, putting it in her vial and recapping it, she shook the potion as it changed to a soft violet. She tipped the contents down her throat and Scorpius watched entranced as Roxanne's bed hair slowly morphed into silky waves that grew to reach the small of her back. He had noticed Roxanne had been experimenting with her hair recently, but this was, by far the best look yet. Her hair still retained the thickness that came with her mother's heritage but her usual frizz was smoothed out, her hair looked smooth and soft. So much so that, he felt the sudden, inexplicable urge to run his fingers through it. She took out another potion, the colour of honey, and drank it too. This time, her hair lightened from her usual chocolate to a lighter medium brown with honey coloured streaks appearing throughout. Olivia squealed with delight as she took in her friend's changed appearance. She motioned for Roxanne to stand and twirl, to which she obliged, soft hair flicking out around her as she spun. Scorpius watched still in awe at the change in Roxanne, he thought back to the small, scared, alone and frizzy-haired first year he'd been introduced to four years ago, he never would have imagined her to look like this. She was stunning.

"Er herm" Scorpius cleared his throat, stepping out and into the room. The girls whirled around to the noise but relaxed into the sofa. It was just Scorp after all. They smiled at him before turning to one another. Olivia continued to beam at Roxanne's new look and was now perched next to her friend, stroking her hair like a small child would a pet.
"Roxy, you have got to make my potions too." Olivia insisted, so proud of her sister's creation and friend's skill at applying it.
"Sure, they take a while though. Next weekend?"
"Perfect." Olivia grinned. "How long will yours last?"
"Well, Mel said the potions should last for as long as I want them to. It's an 'almost-everlasting elixir. My hair will stay like this as long as I use a couple of the spells to 'top-up' every week or so. If I wanted it straight or a different colour, I can still use the other spells but it'd go back to this after a day. If I wanted it straight or a different colour permanently then, I'd make another potion to revert it back to normal, then change it from there. It's pretty cool really. Finally I can manage my own hair!" Roxanne wrapped Liv in a tight hug.
"God, I love your sister! I should owl her. Later guys!" Roxanne left the common room with Olivia still on the chair and Scorpius in another reading.

Scorpius glanced up from behind his book as Liv approached him and sat down beside him. She looked at him until he turned to her.
"I didn't get to say thank you properly, for helping her get through to me. Thanks Scor" Liv beamed at him and wrapped him in a hug. He hugged her back and smiled.
"No problem Liv. You couldn't have stayed mad for much longer, I just sped it all up. Besides it's her birthday tomorrow. You couldn't have not given her a gift."
"I had actually planned to leave it namelessly" Liv chuckled shaking her head.
"What did you get her?"
"I got her a new potions set and some muggle fiction. You?"
"Not that I don't trust you, Liv… but it's top secret. You'll have to wait" Scorpius smirked back at her and stood.
"C'mon, we should get to breakfast before the Hall gets packed"~

Scorpius stared out of the window. He watched the edges of the forest rustle and move every so often, thinking about the variety of life it held. His gaze flitted across the grounds to the edges of the rings of the Quidditch pitch in the distance. He smiled to himself, remembering the first time he'd played on the pitch. He'd been in his second year when he got on the team, back then, not very many first years got on, though recently it seemed if you came from a Quidditch obsessed household you stood a fair chance as both Woods, and the majority of the Weasley-Potter brood had done exactly that. His first game had also been a first for Roxanne, Olivia and the twins. Everybody thought that the Ravenclaw captain had gone mad. She'd made the entire team re try-out and ended up picking five new players all under 13! The entire school, including the rest of Ravenclaw had been sure they would lose but Melanie had trained them all well. She'd had extra practices with Scorp and the other chaser and they worked brilliantly together, the scores had been tied going into the third hour when out of nowhere both Lily and Roxanne had dived for the snitch. The snitch stopped abruptly and only Roxy had managed to pull up in time to avoid crashing, she'd then caught the snitch and Ravenclaw had begun their winning streak that they'd maintained for the last four years. Lost in thought, Scorpius didn't notice when Professor McGonagall called his name. She had to call three times before he heard her, at which point he shook his head and focused on the grey haired witch.
"Yes, Professor?" The class snickered in anticipation of McGonagall serving out detentions for not paying attention in her class.
"What incantation, Mr Malfoy, would you use to vanish this desk?"
"Evanesco, Miss" The class sighed when he was able to answer her perfectly.
"And what Mr Malfoy, happens to objects once they are vanished?" At this the class began to murmur softly, discussing possible answers to a question they had all thought but hadn't asked at risk of sounding stupid.
Scorpius paused thinking for a moment, then recited, "Vanished objects neither cease to exist nor go on existing. They go into non-being, which is to say everything"
"Hm. Well remembered Mr Malfoy, it is nice to know some of my students have read my work." McGonagall smiled slightly before turning to the blackboard and writing up the quote Scorpius had recited.
"As Mr Malfoy so perfectly remembered, this is what happens to vanished objects. However, I think it is safe to say not many, if any, of you know this because you have not bothered to read more than is required of you. Your homework this week will be to first find, then read the book from which this quotation originates. If you have been listening then it should not be hard to work out and I can assure you there are copies of it in the library for your use." She paused, smiling unseen to herself. "And Mr Malfoy, I forbid you to inform anyone where to find the book. Class dismissed."
Scorpius smirked at the faces in his class, pulled his bag onto his shoulder and left the room behind. He had his next lesson free and intended to put it to good use.~

"Scorpie, what's wrong?"
Scorpius sat with his back against the rough bark of the tree, eyes closed. He breathed deeply and felt Florence shift on his lap. She turned, tucking her legs beneath her, either side of his so that she was straddling his lap. Despite the position she was in, and contrary to what the majority of the male population at Hogwarts would think, Scorpius wanted nothing more than for her to be off of him. She wasn't a horrible person, she just had no thoughts of her own. Florence had been overlooked during her first two years at Hogwarts. She'd been quiet, shy and quite smart, hence her blue robes but had only a handful of friends and nothing else to show for it. Over the summer of her second year, Florence ditched her glasses, long skirts and school books. She became a different girl and was taken in by Samantha. Scorpius felt sorry for her really, she was clearly just too insecure to be herself, she'd chosen popularity over the brains that she'd once had and now barely formed her own opinions any more. Once again, Scorpius wondered why it was that he dated girls like Florence, he hated the conversation, or more accurately, lack of and then got bored quickly when he realised how little he had in common with them and how shallow their personalities extended. Maybe it was just that he was too afraid to have a real relationship because he didn't want to mess it up. It was easier to go out with the hot, boring girls that were attracted to him, it was easy to just neglect them when they became boring until, even they got tired of him and dumped him. That was one thing Scorpius had never done. He'd refused to be the one to dump, even if he usually purposely got himself dumped.

Scorpius sighed, he didn't want to dump her, but it was different this time, there was something compelling him to get the relationship ended as soon as possible. He didn't know why but he wanted to be free of Florence more than he had any other girl before, she wasn't even the worst he'd dated!

"Look, Florence, there's something I have to say, I've never done it before but I think I have to just say it. I-"

"I know Scorpie, I love you too" Florence kissed him and nuzzled her face into the crook of his neck. Scorpius went rigid, frozen in total horror, staring off into the lake mentally cursing himself and wishing he had a time turner.~

Scorpius sat in the common room that evening. He'd convinced Florence to spend some time with her own friends tonight so he could be free of her for a while at least. Despite her absence, Scorpius couldn't even pretend he was rid of her. He'd frozen at the 'L' word and hadn't known how to handle that. Surely you can't dump someone after they say they say they love you?

"Hey Scor!" Both Lysander and Lorcan called to him, entering the common room. They were flanked by Roxanne, Olivia and surprisingly Lily.
"Tell us everything-"the twins began.
"What did she say?" Lorcan asked.
"Did she cry- Lysander followed.
"Hit you-"
"Curse you-"

"Guys, stop. I didn't do it okay?" At that the twins gasped and sat down across from Scorpius, the girls following their lead, also wanting to her what had gone wrong. The five of them stared at him, waiting for him to explain. He groaned, not that he didn't want to tell them, they were his friends, he trusted them all. Though, he couldn't understand why Lily was here, he thought her and Rox had drifted apart. Anyway, she was family so he was safe to speak.

"She said she loved me"
"So?" Lorcan asked genuinely confused.
"So, you can't just dump a girl after they say they love you" Olivia supplied.
"Exactly." Scorpius agreed sadly.
"But then, how do you know she means it, how do you know she's not just saying it so you don't dump her?" Lysander joined in.
"He's right. She might be playing you Scorp" Rox suggested, he looked at her. "What?" she shrugged, "It's possible".
"If she doesn't really care then why would it matter if we broke up?"
" You know, Samantha did the exact same thing to James. We finally managed to convince him to break it off then, she said she loved him. Like she knew it was coming. A week later she dumped him." Lily spoke up for the first time.
"I thought James was still dating her?" Scorpius asked bewildered.
"Oh he is, this was last year. They've been on and off for ages. It does my head in" Lily groaned.~

Once Scorpius had finished giving the group every detail of the almost-breakup, Lily yawned, staring at her nails. she turned to her cousin.

"Anyway, Rox do you have that thing?"
"Sure" Roxy sighed. She had thought Lily might've had a genuine interest in their conversation but clearly not. Flicking her wand, seconds later a piece of parchment zoomed through the air towards them, Lily grabbed it out of the air and waltzed out of the common room blowing a kiss at the group before she left.
"So that's why she was here, to pass your work off as her own" Lorcan began.
"Again." Olivia finished.
"It's not like that guys, we still speak. And besides, she's family. I can't not help her."
"Oh really, when was the last time you spoke to her?"
"A little while ago actually, Liv, before I change potions class and before that, the night before school. You know, when we all sat in your tree house like we do every year?"
"Roxanne, you sat next to her in one lesson and she just usually gets you to explain it all to her. She fell asleep on us in the tree house and it was basically just you and me. Like it has been every year since we came to Hogwarts. Rox, I only still go because you want to, I don't think I've spoken to her properly in years."
Roxanne paused. She didn't know how to respond, Liv was right. She'd been kidding herself about her relationship with Lily for years, going on as if they were still the friends they had once been. They weren't. Lily had changed, she just didn't have that much in common with Roxanne any more. Dom had told her all this before of course, she just hadn't wanted to believe it. Maybe it was just that Lily had been such a big part of her childhood, she didn't want to admit it was over. Roxanne sighed.
"Yeah, you're right. But, I just feel like I have to help her you know?"
"Rox, if she wanted help, she'd ask her brother. He won't give her his work so she asks you." Scorpius chimed in.
"Yeah" Lysander agreed, "just do what you do to me and give her a book reference next time. It'll put her right off"
Roxanne smiled at her friends around her. They meant more to her than Lily did, blood or not. But most of all they were right. She should stop doing work for Lily and concentrate on herself, Lily didn't care about her any more, she was as indifferent as the next person. So why should Roxanne care about Lily?
"Awww, what would I do without you guys?" she smiled, holding open her arms for them all.
"Perish miserably" Lorcan answered as they all squeezed in, separating laughing.
"Now, speaking of getting used. Don't you think it's about time our little Scorpie's issues were back in the topic of conversation?" Lorcan winked.~

Scorpius leaned forward across the breakfast table.
"I can't do it guys." He told the blonde boys facing him.
"I've decided I'm a dumpee; I don't have it in me to be a dumper. I just can't." He sighed sitting back at the mildly disappointed faces of his best friends.
"Well let's hope your normal tactic of distant and terrible boyfriend works sooner rather than later."
Scorpius mumbled that he hoped so and looked around him, checking Florence wasn't anywhere near him. His eyes moved towards the doors of the great hall and he saw Olivia enter laughing over her shoulder at Roxanne behind her. Roxanne caught up to Liv, hugging her friend from behind. Scorpius smiled at the sight and didn't notice as Lorcan saw Scorpius' expression. He followed his line of sight to the girls and gave his brother a nudge and pointed look. Lysander nodded before Scorpius bent down to reach into his bag still oblivious to his friends' looks.

Liv reached the table first, leaving room between her and Scorpius for Roxanne to sit in. After all, the birthday girl should be in the spotlight. Scorpius grinned as Rox sat next to him automatically flicking her hair over her shoulders to get it off the table. The action wafted the faintest scent of honey into his nostrils and he resisted the urge to inhale more deeply. Scorpius paused shaking his head.

"Happy Birthday Roxy!" Lorcan and Lysander chimed together passing over blue-papered and silver-ribboned gifts. Scorpius watched her face brighten as she carefully untied the ribbons and slid out the first box from the paper without tearing it. She held the small black box in her hand and opened it, beaming as she saw its contents. Scorpius already knew what it contained and took pleasure in watching Roxanne's face change as she saw the golden snitch inside the box.

"It's from the first game you played with us. Captain Mel was mad. Ravenclaw was a joke with a load of newbies and you caught the snitch before Lily did. Do you remember?"
"Of course I do! Oh thanks Ly, I love it! How did you get it?"
"Captain's secret" He winked.
Rox grinned and reached across the table hugging him as best she could.
"Er herm, are you going to stop making my brother feel special and open mine? I actually paid for my gift." Lorcan asked from beside Ly.

"Patience Lorc" She smiled and sat back down.
Roxanne picked up the second package and opened it in a similar delicate fashion. She picked up a thin silver chain and held it out.
"Er, Lorc, people usually put things on the end of these." She laughed.
He tutted, as if disgusted by her lack of faith in him. He reached over and picked up her snitch. He shrunk it to the size of his fingertip and then transfigured it silver. He took the necklace from her and slipped it on.
"Here, it's sort of joint but not really. " Lorcan explained almost shy.
"Guys that's brilliant! I love it. You remembered I don't wear gold too. Thank you!" she turned to Scorpius and handed him the necklace, sweeping her hair above her head in both hands.
"Would you?"
"Of Course" Scorpius replied sweeping stray hairs from her neck so they wouldn't get caught. He put his arms over her head and linked the necklace up at the back.
"There."
Roxanne turned to Scorpius thanking him.
"So, do you want your present from me now or later?" Scorpius winked at her suggestively and she laughed hitting him.
"Scorp, you can't say things like that! Someone might think you're serious. I've had enough rumours for now!" Roxanne continued to laugh anyway.
"You can give me my present at the end of the day. I'll probably need cheering up by then. See you later Scor." She addressed the twins, "bye guys" and tapped Liv on the shoulder. "See you in Herbology".

"Bye Bye Birthday Girl" her friends sung back at her, somehow all at once. She laughed, shaking her head and left for double potions.

A/N:

Tried to add a bit more of Scorp's POV but I'm not sure how it was, hope it was okay. Should be back to Rox's next chap, it feels more natural to write from her POV. Comments on POV welcome, tell me if you want anything from a certain character. Florence maybe? ;)

Anyway hope you liked it!

Oh and if I don't update before then, Have a Happy Halloween! :D

Love you all,
