(Chloe P.O.V.)

It's Friday night. Meaning I should probably call Simon to see when we can hang out tomorrow for our biology project on 'Plant Crowding.' Faaaaaantastic.

I got up and walked over to my backpack. Scrounging through it, I desperately tried to find the paper that held his phone number.

After several agonizing minutes, I found it. I picked up my cell and dialed the number. But, no, of course it wasn't Simon. Not even Derek, who would have been better rather than the person who did pick up the phone. It was Tori.

"Hello?" She said in a voice as sweet as a cherry pie.

"Um, hi. It's Chloe from school. I was wandering if Simon was home?"

"Ugh, it's you. What, you want to talk to Simon so you can flirt with him like every other girl at school?"

"Uh, no, we have to set up a time to work on our biology project-"

"Mmhmm, I'm sure that's it." She said

"It is."I replied.

"Well, I guess I could make the effort to call Simon to the phone. STUPID, THE PHONE'S FOR YOU!" She said as she called for Simon.

I heard Simon tramping down the stairs and him fighting with Tori for the phone.

"I'm here! I'm here." He said, sounding flushed.

"Yes you are." I replied casually.

"Sorry about my blister for a sister. One of her best qualities is making people feel bad."

I laughed a bit at this. 'Man am I lucky to be an only child!'

"So what's up?" He asked.

"I was just calling about our biology project."

"Oh, ya. Tomorrow I have basketball practise in the afternoon, but how about you come at let's say, six o'clock?" He said.

"That sounds fine to me. Do you want me to eat dinner before than or…?"

"No, you can have dinner at my house. I'm pretty sure we're having lasagna." He said.

He then told me his address and we said our goodbyes and hung up.

I was pretty tired, (which I was considering the fact that I had sleepless nights each night due to the knowledge that I could raise dead things) so I got dressed in my pyjamas, climbed into bed, and tried my best not to imagine the endless possibilities of things I could possibly raise while I slept.

I heard the faint 'vroom' from my tires as I pulled out of my driveway to go to the Bae's (and Derek's) house.

According to his address, he lived in a complete different area than I did, even though the distance between our two homes was 5 minutes. Remember when I told you earlier that the main attraction of our town was because it was half city and half forest? That's the reason.

Once I found the street, it wasn't that hard to find his house, considering it was big and one of the only ones on the street.

It was old and Victorian, but elegant, too. It backed onto the forest and had dozens of plants and flowers at the front.

I slowly made my way towards the front door, taking in everything as I went in.

I went to raise my hand to knock on the door to suddenly be opened and reveal a bright looking man who looked slightly like my father, with brown hair and almond-shaped eyes. 'Mr. Bae.'I thought to myself.

"Ah, you must be Chloe, I've heard all about you. We were just setting the table, please, do come in.'' He said warmly.

"Thank-you, Mr. Bae. You're home is lovely." Which it truly was. It had a Victorian structure, but was fairly modern on the inside. It held a grand staircase right by the door, and the whole main floor was very open. It was…. Comforting. Homey, in a way.

"I saw Simon and Tori arguing, while Derek was looking at me. I caught his eye for a moment, but then abruptly looked away as I felt a blush creep onto my face.

As Mr. Bae walked me to the kitchen, I could faintly hear what Simon and Tori were fighting about.

"Oh my god, you're so stupid you don't even know how to set a table. The fork goes on the left, and the knife goes on the right you idiot." I heard Tori say to Simon.

"Right left, potato pototo, tomato tomoto. It's not like I'm going to grow up to arrange cutlery!" He responded hotly.

"Enough, you two. We have a guest. Chloe, you sit wherever you'd like." Mr. Bae.

"Thank-you ."

"Oh, please, call me Kit. Mr. Bae makes me sound so old."

I smiled and took the seat on the end. Simon sat on my left, Derek on my right, Tori next to Derek, and Kit at the other end of the table; across from me.

We all dug into our Caesar salads and lasagna, which by the way, was amazing.

"So, Chloe, tell me about yourself."

I shyly told him how I just transferred here because my dad was a business man, and how I was very interested in drama, specifically directing at school.

We all made more conversation, whether about school, sports or anything else.

Once we were almost done, Kit cleared his throat.

"Chloe, I'm sorry about being so direct this situation, but it has to be dealt with. I am informed that you are a necromancer, and know about all my kids being supernatural."

I nearly chocked on my lasagna noodle right then.

"Uh, y-yes." I stammered.

"Don't worry, we would never tell anyone, but I need to know that you are willing to do the same for my kids." He said, worry lines seeping onto his forehead.

"I would, y-you kids, I-I would n-never tell-" I started.

"Dad, she would never tell anyone. You can trust her." Simon cut in.

"I know. I didn't really think there was going to be a problem, I just wanted to be a good parent."

"That's fine. I completely understand." I said.

We continued the rest of our meals on much simpler subjects. Although, something did happen in the middle of dessert.

"So, Chloe, do you have any plans for Thanksgiving." Kit asked.

"Uh, no. Not really." I replied.

"I see, you are just going to spend iy with your family, I presume."

"Not exactly. My father is away on a business trip for two and a half months."

"And you're mother?" He asked. I was really hoping he wouldn't ask that.

"Um….she…. passed away 10 years ago." I managed to say.

"Oh, I'm very sorry to bring it up." He said sincerely.

"That's alright."

"Oh, I have the grandest idea!" He said, all perky again. "The kids and I are just going to stay home and celebrate it together; nothing special. How about you come over for Thanksgiving weekend and spend t with us?"

My eyes went as wide as a bug's. I choked on my piece of pie, as did Derek and Tori.

"Oh, I really wouldn't want to intrude-" I started.

"Really, it's not a big deal at all. You could sleep here for the weekend and celebrate it with us. It would be the perfect time to finish your projects with Simon and Derek. I insist, really." He said.

I felt guilty declining, so instead I sighed and said with a smile on my face, "How could I say no?" Really, how could I say no?
