Chapter 10: Birth

A few months has passed and Yuki was now 2 weeks from his due date. Everything has strangely calmed in last few months. There hasn't been any attacks of any kind which everyone was glad for. The Zweilts have been able to rest and Yuki has been able to take it easy.

In the last month, Yuki has been on strict bed rest so he has been bed and almost about to lose his mind. Yuki's been so bored that everyone were struggling the keep him entertained till the baby arrived.

The nursery has finally been finished with Yuki's final touch of select books he read when he was still an orphan. The wall was plastered with a deep silver color with sky blue curtains. The baby's crib sat in the middle of the room. It was a beautiful mahogany color with silver and blue bedding. There were other baby necessities like a changing table and a rocking chair. And toys were arranged neatly around the room.

Yuki laid in bed with his big round belly and a book in hand. Luka had just walked in and sat on the bed with Yuki.

"How are feeling?" he asked. Yuki looked up from his book to look at him.

"Just fine. The baby has been kicking up a storm but I've been surprisingly able to deal with it" Yuki answered.

"That's good. Though you seem to be stirred crazy. Would you like to go for a walk? I think it will make you feel better" Luka said placing his hand on Yuki's large belly.

"Yeah I can use a walk" Yuki said placing his book that he has read for probably the 27th time on the nightstand.

"Help me up" he said. Luka nodded and helped him up by one arm around his back and the other hand pulling him up by the hand.

Yuki was only dressed in a white silk robe but he figured it was fine because they would only be walking in the gardens.

Luke held onto him while they walked through the mansion down towards the gardens. The couple was stopped by Touko on the way there.

"Oh, hey Yuki" she chimed. "Where are going this early? I thought you were on bed rest" she asked concerned.

"I am, but I thought I could use a walk. I actually find it quite boring being stuck in that room for weeks" he said.

"All right. Well, be careful. Don't overdue yourself" she answered.

"Don't worry. I got Luka, here, to protect me if anything happens" Yuki said smiling. Touko nodded and smiled back who then walked in the other direction.

She knew Luka would protect him and he would know if something was wrong. She will always be concerned for her favorite cousin but she was happy that Yuki had Luka in his life to protect him. She knew Luka would be a great father as well. Touko smiled at the thought of Luka playing with a small toddler.

The couple had finally made it to the gardens without anymore interruptions. Yuki held onto Luka while looking at the scenery around him. It was a beautiful day. The sky was bright with no cloud in sight. The birds chirping was music to Yuki's ears.

It felt so long that he has been outside and he wanted to savor every bit of the beautiful gardens. Flowers surrounded them with tall cherry blossom tree in the midst of it all. He closed his eyes to smell around him and feel the cool wind on his face.

Then his peaceful moment was interrupted by a striking pain in his lower abdomen. He winced at the feeling. Yuki tried his best to try ignore it. He thought it could just be false contractions. He was glad Luka didn't notice.

They walked for about an hour minutes more. Yuki feeling twinges in his abdomen in that hour. But then a strong pain was felt that wasn't like the others. It made him double down in pain and he clutched his belly and his hand squeezed Luka's hand.

Luka now knew what was wrong. Yuki may have thought he didn't notice but Luka did. Yuki was in labor.

"Yuki! Your in labor! We need to get back!" Luka exclaimed trying to get Yuki up.

"Y-Yeah. I-It hurts" Yuki said through his breaths.

"Come on" Luka said holding tight onto Yuki while tried as fast as they could to get back to the mansion.

They fast walked a few more minutes when Yuki felt another strong contraction the he felt a pop which sent liquid down his leg already soaking the robe he had on.

"Luka! H-Hurry! My w-water just broke" Yuki said. "The baby is coming fast!" he yelled through another contraction. Luka's eyes widened.

"All right. Hang on tight" he said picking up Yuki bridal style. Yuki nodded then Luka ran as fast as he could.

Luka barged right into the living area of the mansion and noticed that Touko and the doctor were there conveniently. Their attention went straight towards Luka who was carrying a pained looking Yuki.

"He is in labor! And the baby is coming fast!" he announced.

The doctor's eyes widened. He didn't expect the baby would be coming fast but it is.

"Ok." he said clapping his hands. "Place him on the rug in front of the couch. I don't think he can make it to a spare room if it happening as fast as you say" the doctor said. Luka did as he was told and carefully put him where he was instructed.

"Touko. Get water and few towels and fast" he instructed. She nodded and went to do as she was told.

"Luka, come over and give him emotional support while I check to see how dilated he is. He is going to need all the help he can get" the doctor said. Luka came over to Yuki and crouched down on his knees and held Yuki's trembling hand in his.

Just as the doctor checked Yuki, Touko had come back with the water and blankets. Some blankets were placed under Yuki to give him more comfort.

The doctor's eyes widened, "He is already close" he doctor announced and placed a towel over Yuki's lower body.

"I-It hurts" Yuki said through his breaths. Beads of sweat started to form on his face.

"It's going to be ok" Luka said trying to comfort him.

"Ok. Your ready. On the next contraction I want you to push, Yuki" the doctor announced.

Yuki did as he was told and bore down as best he could. Luka was beside him holding onto his hand as he pushed. Touko stood kind of the way, but she figured she would stay in case she was needed. Though she hated seeing Yuki in pain.

"Hey, Doctor. Where are the others? I haven't seen them" Touko asked.

"Good. The baby is crowning. On the next contraction, give me a big push" the doctor announced. "They are out patrolling the area in case there is any attack, this baby will be born by the time they are back" he said and she nodded.

"Aaah! I-It hurts!" Yuki yelled as he bore down and pushed as hard as he could. In a way Yuki felt like being split in half as the head emerged.

"All right, Yuki. You are doing great. The head is out. Next are the shoulders" he announced. "Keep pushing" he instructed.

On the next contraction, Yuki pushed as much as he could, but it seemed like he going no where. He couldn't feel the baby move.

"I-I can't. The-the baby i-isn't moving" Yuki said as tears threatened to stream.

"Oh. I see, now. Nothing to worry about. I'll just adjust the shoulders a little. They weren't in the right position" the doctor said and Yuki felt relieved. So did Luka, he also was about to think something terribly went wrong.

"Good. Now push" the doctor instructed. Yuki did as he was told and bore down till he finally felt the shoulders emerge.

"Good shoulders are out. You are almost done. One more big push and your baby will be here" the doctor announced.

Yuki bore down once more and pushed as hard as he could, then he felt his baby exit his body. A cry finally filled the room and his head fell on the edge of the couch as he was finally done. Till he felt another contraction and the afterbirth left his body as well then was disposed of quickly by the doctor.

Touko was the one who the took the baby in a blanket and cut the cord. She wrapped the baby in a soft blue blanket and took it over to Yuki.

"Yuki, meet your son" Touko announced and handed the baby over to the new mother.

Yuki carefully took the already small form from Touko and held him carefully to his chest. Touko smiled as she watched Yuki hold the newest member of the Zweilts.

"Hi, baby. It is your mother and this is your father" Yuki said gesturing towards a clam looking Luka. Luka didn't bat an eye during the whole ordeal.

"He has your hair" Luka finally said. Yuki smiled and placed a finger into the baby's hand who quickly took it.

"Ok. Let's get Yuki and the baby moved into my doctor's office so this area can be cleaned up" the doctor finally announced making his presence known. Yuki nodded.

Yuki was moved to bed in the doctor's office for much needed rest. The baby was sleeping soundly in a bassinet next to the bed. Luka was surprisingly there too.

"Hey, Luka. Do you want to hold the baby? I mean he is your son too" Yuki finally said which got Luka's attention.

"Sure" Luka answered. He carefully walked over to he baby was sleeping and picked him up slowly, minding his head. He held the small form to his chest and looked at him. His heart was filled with love, surprisingly, for this baby he held in his arms.

"You look great holding a baby" Yuki said smiling. He was still a little sore from giving birth.

Luka smiled at the comment he was given. "Well, you did great, yourself. I never thought I would be a father, myself; but I am holding a miracle birthed from the love of my life" Luka said. Yuki's eyes widened.

"You love me?" Yuki asked. Luka nodded and walked over to him handing the baby over to him then kissing the top of his head. Tears starting falling from his face. Tears of joy.

"Oh and I knew you were having a boy" Luka said chuckling.

"What? You knew?!" Yuki exclaimed. "How?"

"From an ultrasound. I knew you wanted it to be a surprise so I kept it a secret" Luka said.

"Oh. Well it's ok. I'm happy with what we had. He is beautiful" Yuki said smiling.

Then everyone started to walk into the room wanting to see the new baby. Touko ran over to Yuki.

"Aw. He is so cute!" she chimed.

"He looks just like you, Yuki" Hotsuma said.

"Yeah, though I am sure he has Luka's eyes" Yuki said smiling.

"I wish Shusei here could have a baby" Hotsuma teased. Shusei blushed and gave Hotsuma a scolding by slapping the back of his head. "Ow" was all he could say and others laughed.

"Oh, what is his name?" Touko spoke up after laughing.

"Oh, haven't thought about it yet" Yuki said finally realizing.

He sat there for a few moments thinking then Luka spoke.

"Tsubasa Giou" Luka said firmly. Everyone looked at him surprised.

"I like it" Yuki said. "Tsubasa" he announced looking at his precious boy in his arms. Then the baby suddenly woke up and starting crying. Touko laughed.

"Looks like someone is hungry" she said smiling.

"All right, everyone. Time to leave. Yuki needs rest and the baby needs to eat. Say goodbye for now. You may see him later" the doctor walked in and announced.

"Aw" Hotsuma pouted and went over to Yuki, ruffling his hair in goodbye and left his room with Shusei behind.

"Take care of yourself" Tsukumo said, it being the first thing he has said since he walked into the room. "Tsubasa is beautiful" he said. Yuki smiled. Then he left the room with Touko.

Senshiro and Kuroto didn't really say anything at all. But inside they were happy for Yuki. They knew the baby would be in good hands. They left silently.

With everyone gone, Yuki fed the baby silently without much fuss. Tsubasa took the bottle quickly. The doctor wasn't sure if Yuki should breast feed so he made a special formula that has he nutrients of breast milk just for the baby. Yuki was happy.

Luka stood by the bed watching, giving the baby small touches while he fed. Yuki smiled at these small gestures. He seemed like Luka actually wanted to be a father.

Once the baby was fed and put back into the bassinet, Takashiro walked in.

"Hey, Yuki. How are you feeling?" he asked.

"A lot better, thank you" Yuki answered.

"That's good. I heard you had a son" he said looking over to he baby who was sleeping soundly. Yuki nodded. "May I hold him?" he asked.

"Oh sure" Yuki said. "Be careful"

"I will" Takashiro said carefully picking up the sleeping baby.

"He is beautiful. It has been a long time since I held a baby. What is his name?" Takashiro said.

"Tsubasa" Yuki answered.

"Tsubasa. Nice name...he is perfect. even though you are still young, I am sure you will be a great parent. And Luka" Takashiro said smiling then he placed the baby back into the bassinet.

"Well I can tell you now that we are in for several years of peaceful times till Reiga could return. So use the time wisely. And with a baby now, you free to get a job if you want" he continued.

"Thank you" Yuki said. "Um, Takashiro, when have you held a baby before?" he asked.

"Well actually, I held you when you were a baby. I am the one that took you to the orphanage after the death of your mother" Takashiro answered.

"Oh. I didn't know that. The people there never told me who dropped me off" Yuki said and tears started to fall lightly.

"They don't know who dropped you off. I put you on the doorstep, rang the bell and left" he answered. "Well I should be going. Rest, Yuki; you need your strength" he said then he walked out the door.

"Yuki. It is ok. You have Tsubasa and me now and everyone else in this mansion. You will never be lonely again. We all love you" Luka said picking up Yuki's chin and placing a peck on his lips then lifted away.

"Thank you. For everything" Yuki said as he smiled and the tears stopped. Luka nodded.

Now a new life has started. Yuki and Luka being new parents will sure bring a new experience to the Zweilts of the mansion. They wouldn't have worry around any attacks from the Duras for years to come. However many of those years it is, is a still a mystery to them all. But they would make the use of the precious time with the new life in the form a small baby boy Tsubasa.

I'm sorry that there weren't other chapters before this one. I was going to but couldn't think of something. And I'm sorry to those who wanted the baby be a girl. Just say that if they had a second child that it would be a girl. (:
