Ai-chan: Yo! … okay… it's been too long… hahaha… *sweat drops* yes, this story has NOT ended yet. After all, Mai hadn't gotten her happy-ever-after and I haven't changed the story's status to 'complete'… but really… only… what? 2 reviews? I need you guys' opinion.

Well, either way, I want to thank Assailant Angel for giving me a telling me a website about nursery rhymes' sinister origin.

Also, I want to address the guest reviewer 'Guest': thank you for your honest opinion. I do think that the latest cases' ending is… shitty… but it is a part of the story. I want to make Mai suffer a little (well maybe a lot) as it wouldn't be logical for the world to be all rainbow and unicorns.

DISCLAIMER (Haven't done this in quite a while, no?): I DO NOT OWN GHOST HUNT OR ITS CHARACTERS.

P.S. This case will be a bit of a crossover… not anything major but just a few characters.

Third Person's POV

The lunar goddess woke up from her ephemeral slumber as the pale visage of the moon contrasted with the inky black sky. (1) Mother Nature played her orchestra – rustling of sylph-like trees and chirping of crickets blending into a serene tune.

As the world went into its transient rest, a blur of magenta rushed across the landscape lightly almost as if threading on thin and fragile layer of ice. The door whined loudly – pausing Nature's melodic voce – as it swung open after a leggiero push from the rosette.

Cold. It was cold – no freezing. La Luna casted an unearthly –yet enchanting –glow on the hand as it gripped hers. It beckoned her, called her to enter the shack. She shivered – not from the cool touch – but from the excitement tingling in her spine.

He pulled her in with a slow, sensual move and caged her within his arms. Minty pine trees. The scent was calming and it dispelled all of her fear of being discovered. The animosity exacted on her unique view seems to have disappeared into nothing. It was as if a heavy weight had been lifted off her being. Her whole psyche felt tranquil.

They – who are nothing but juvenile adults – pushed their puerile prejudice upon her young mind. "Vile creatures," they would sneer; "Murderers," they would scream. It was tiring. Such nonsense held no substance. There was not proof. Judging a book by its cover… it was fallacy at its purest form.

That was why she enjoyed there nightly outings. Dashing through the ever-so-peaceful Stygian forest, adrenaline rushing through her vessels, it was exhilarating. Here, away from those foul demons, away from politics – evil disguised in words – and others who casted aspersion at every possible moment, she could finally be who she truly is. There's no princess nor murderer: no royalty nor commoner. They're just two teenagers without a care in the world. This is their own private Xanadu.

His stiff limbs glided with hers. Twirling, twisting, skin against skin, dipping. "Motto… allegro (2)," she whispered. Sedate motions quickened into wild gesticulation. The feeling of his breath ghosting over her made her feel warm despite the thin clothing she wore.

It unexpectedly became a feral choreographed dance. It was enjoyable and it was something she greatly appreciated in this shitty game called life. 7 billion people moving around and each of them have their own secret set of moves and rules. You'll be shunned if you something; you'll be scorned if you do nothing. It's a shit game. (3)

"Sasori… what if we're caught?" she whispered.

"Then, we'll just kill them," he replied.

Unknown to the pair, a being with a green heart oozing a large amount of jealousy eyed them bitterly.

"Humpty… Dumpty… sat on the wall… I pushed Humpty off the wall…"

"With silver bells and cockle shells and he'll be mine alone…"

Case II: 不吉な童謡

Mai's POV

"Gene… what should I do? It's getting stronger and stronger each day… It might even control me…" I whimpered. My head laid on his lap – brown hair splayed on his dark clothing – as he ran his fingers through my tresses.

"It'll be fine…" he whispered. His greyish-azure orbs (4) drowning in sorrow caused by yours truly. We've made up with each other. It's been a month more of less since that case… and a month after I became a container.

It's been getting stronger each day and I fear that it'll wreak havoc if I let it overpower me. I fear that it'll hurt my family. My powers – which was already powerful to begin with or so Gene said – were growing even more each passing day. I know that the being inside of me would be able to control this power – my PK, ESP and many others.

The feelings I have for Gene have fully bloomed but I can't help but feel burdened by it. We can never be together. We don't even exist on the same plane. And it's painful to know of this. It feels like your heart is skinned, poured salt over it and then finally ripped out of its cage.

But, most of all, my fear of him getting hurt tops all of these feelings. I'm scared – utterly terrified that that Shinigami will harm him. Thus, the reason why I spent most of my free times sleeping and staying in the astral plane.

"You should wake up now… I'll hold him back for you so don't worry," he uttered softly. Brown clashed with blue. "But-!" I protested. "No buts. You should wake up or Noll will kill you," he jokingly said. "Well, you'll save me right, my knight in black clothing?" I teased. "Why of course, my Lady! I can't ever leave a distressed damsel by herself, now can I?" he retorted in a mocking manner.

"Watch it, jerk! I'm no damsel in distress!" I stuck my tongue out with a smile. And then, he made THAT face. The one which made my heart flutter all the time. THAT smiling face. I looked away to hid my – without a doubt – crimson cheeks away from him. "See you later, Gene…" With that, I fade back into the living world.

"Yo! Mai-chan!"

I lifted my head from the paperwork and smiled at the irregulars coming.

"Bou-san! Ayako! Masako! John! Do you want tea?" I offered. "Eh?! What about me Mai-chan?! I thought you love me!" a familiar voice inquired.

"YASU! You're here!" I exclaimed. I haven't seen him in a while as he's busy with his college. "Yeah… I just came yesterday… I have a long term project to do here… so I'll be staying for about a month or so… Anyway, MAI-CHAN! WHY?! I thought you love me!" he dramatically cried.

"I thought you're married with Houshou-san… Takigawa Yasuhara-san?" I bluntly while inwardly snickering.

"WHAT?! MAI!"

"Oh why of course Taniyama-chan! How could I forgotten?"

"Shounen!"

"Hai, Danna? (5)"

"Don't call me that! I'm STRAIGHT for GOD'S SAKE!"

"Eh? God has sake? (6)"

Throughout all of this, Ayako and Masako just shook her head while John tried to keep Bou-san from killing Yasu. I grinned from ear to ear – not literally like Kuchisake onna of course! I really do love them.

"I would greatly appreciate it if you would go find an actual coffee shop."

Ah… and here comes the moody king…

"Maa, maa… chill out Naru-bou. So, where's Aika-chan?" Bou-san enquired.

"Sick. Mai, tea." Oh how I missed this order! Since Aika-chan came, he's stopped asking for my tea. I think he's still pissed off at me when I accidentally attacked his fiancée… I didn't mean it…

"Hai, hai!" I head towards the kitchen.

The bell rang as the door hesitantly swung open.

"Ano… is this a good time?" a light voice enquired. The voice belongs to a – surprisingly – pink-haired girl in her early 20s. Her body was short in stature. Her hair just barely brushed her shoulders with her bangs parted in the middle. The dye was so well kept that even the roots are a light Sakura-pink. Her verdant eyes reflected immense worry. Behind her stood a man in his late 20s – I think – with messy crimson hair and dull brown eyes. His face showed no emotions and bore an apathetic stare.

"Oh no! These are just our associates. Please come in and have a seat. Tea or coffee?" I welcomed them in.

"My name is Haruno Sakura and this is my fiancée Akasuna no Sasori (7). We came from a island called Xanadu (8) located in a small island about 4-hours boat ride away from the nearest port… it is not that well known as we were quite isolated from the main land.

Recently, we've bought a newly-built mansion next to the Stygian forest (9) – a forest located in the western part of the island. The first night we slept there, I was pushed down the stairs though luckily Sasori caught me before I fell. The night guards claimed to have seen a shadow figure. Some even said that they felt eyes on their back.

There were sounds of footsteps echoing around but there's nobody. Just yesterday, my ankle was pulled and dislocated by an unseen force," Sakura-san paused and rolled up her jeans. Her ankle was swollen and there's a bruise in the shape of an adult's hand. Gasps where heard around the room and I winced. I knew how that felt all too well.

"Things were knocked down and knifes were flying around… one of the maids have been seriously injured when a bookshelf fell on her and another was stabbed in the arm by a flying knife.

We would like you to solve this matter… we are planning to get married soon… but I do not want our children to live in such a dangerous place…" she sighed and we turned our attentions to Naru.

He gazed at the couple and spoke in a monotone, "We accept your case. Please prepare a room preferably with many sockets as we will be using a lot of electronic equipment and expect us in a day or two."

Third Person's POV

The pitch-black sky was without a moon tonight. Small dots of lights peppered the dark unreachable canvas. Everything was dimly lighted due to La Luna's absence. It made the already shadowy woodland even obscurer. Sobs were heard in the clearing breaking the serenity. Soft footsteps approached the origin. Gingerly, the owner entered the clearings.

Pink. That was the color his mind registered. It glowed in the dark. The almost silent cries sound loud in his ear. It was probably because of the deafening silence.

What word when spoken would break it? Silence. Oh how he loved yet hated that word. It makes him felt tranquil yet disturbed. Tranquil by the lack of noise; disturbed by the thoughts it brought. He's like a living contradiction.

"Why are you crying?"

And the silence was officially broken. Congratulations! Fantastic! Not. The rosette froze before stuttering, "I-I'm n-no-not c-cry-crying…"

"Right… and I don't have a dick."

"Now then Danna… Love Lesson #1: Never ever be sarcastic with a crying female since it'll only cause them to get worse," he remembered a friend of his telling him that.

Brat… you're a liar…

His friend – dubbed 'brat' – had said that they would start bawling but… this girl here began chuckling instead before turning into full blown laughter. "You're funny!" she grinned.

Ai-chan: Well… I think that's long enough no? Either way, I'm going to start explaining about some things.

(1) - I'm talking about the moon in this case yeah… not the actual moon goddess… my friend was confused when I showed her this…

(2) - Motto – more in Japanese; allegro – Italian for fast. So this means faster… err… yeah… no… they're not having sex. They're dancing tango to be exact.

(3) - Reference from an anime! Guess which! ;)

(4) - I just recently re-watched ghost hunt and I realized that Naru's eyes are dark blue while Gene's is like grayish blue.

(5) - Danna means master or a term a wife use to call her husband. That's Yasu speaking btw if you hadn't noticed.

(6) - Yasu is using the double meaning of the word sake. In this one, it's talking about sake as in the drink.

(7) - Yes, the other crossover is Naruto. I'm addicted to it now (reason why I've stopped updating… ^_^'') and I love LOVE the pairing SasoSaku. I know the name sounds awkward but if he was addressed by his last name, it'll be Akasuna. So like Akasuna-san…

(8) - Xanadu means a wonderful place or you could say paradise. It's a fictional city I made here.

(9) - Stygian forest is also a fictional one. As far as I know that is…

I think that's all… I've been trying to change my style of writing as you can see in the opening paragraph… so how is it? Good, bad? Or is it just so-so?

I can't make any promise that I'll update soon but… I'll try… exam is coming and I'm trying to get a scholarship… so I'll be quite busy. Ciao.
