Yah bruh, none of that Bradley dude man, if you don't like it, lemme see you wit dem hands cuz. Like straight up, I don't understand how people can read an entire book series where the main character is clearly going to fall in love with one person and then it happens and they get pissed off. It's like hello nigga, you had that shit coming the ENTIRE time you been reading this. I just wanna slap some people, like people who think Percy and Rachel should've ended up together. NO MOTHERFUCKER RACHEL AIN'T SHIT FUCK YOU! I really might need to change the rating of this simply because of how many times I said fuck in the intro alone. Oh well, what are they gonna do? Ban my account? Be back on in like four days with new shit, and I can still copy and paste my shit. Ya'll think I ain't got backup files ready. I don't. So don't report me or none of that shit. You know what happens to snitches, so don't be one. And on that happy note, onto the story.

Chapter 10: Escape

Jax

Jax stared over O'Riley's shoulder. What were they looking at?

"What the hell is that thing?" Black asked

"I don't know, a robot of some kind." O'Riley said

The blueprint has a complicated design on it, something Jax wasn't qualified to understand. It was a seven foot tall robot, a cockpit, a glass dome protecting the pilot, two panels for rockets on the side and two fifty caliber machine guns on the front. There was also files. The files were filled with everything: Targets, files on bases, more blueprints.

"This is big, and there is a lot more of them." O'Riley said

"Stuff em, and let's bail." Black said

Jax and O'Riley started stuffing files into their backpacks. Black leaned out the window and looked around.

"Son of a bitch." He hissed, ducking back

"What." O'Riley asked

"I think Puck and Conners have been discovered," Black said "There's like, fifteen Scarlet Hand soldiers running into that building."

"Shit, grab these files," O'Riley said "Mathews, start picking your shots."

"Way ahead of you." Mathews said

Jax glanced up out the window and realized Mathews was right. Already, one Scarlet Hand soldier was dead, and another dropped. The three of them ran out the door and raised their guns. Jax let a burst fly into the line of Scarlet Hand soldiers, they skidded to a halt and scattered for cover, blasting shots back. Jax ducked behind a crate as bullets sparked against it. O'Riley was ducked behind a wall and Black was behind him. Another Scarlet Hand unit jerked and dropped, Mathews was doing all he could.

"That's it dude, the rest are ducked out of my sight," Mathews said "Either hit them yourselves or flush them out."

"Frag." Black said

Jax saw him slip around O'Riley and toss something. A few seconds later, an explosion knocked Jax off his feet.

"I HIT ANYTHING?" Black yelled

Jax heard a bullet fly right over his head and smack into a Scarlet Hand that had been thrown out by the explosion.

"Watch where the hell you're shooting." Jax said

"Are you dead?" Mathews asked

"No." Jax said, frustrated

"Then stop complaining." Mathews said, picking another shot

"Hey man, we got Sabrina," Puck's voice came over the radio "We're coming out."

"Yeah, hurry up," O'Riley said "Pretty much the whole base knows that we're here."

Even as he spoke the words, more Scarlet Hand soldiers flooded into the part of the compound and opened fire. Jax returned fire and ducked back down.

"Reloading!" He called

Another Scarlet Hand unit dropped and Mathews laughed.

"Put another one down," He said "Come one boys, gotta catch up."

"It was a contest?" Black asked

Jax laughed and fired over the crate. They had to hold until Puck and Conners could link up.

Conners

The door exploded and Conenrs and Puck burst in. Puck raised his rifle and blasted a man in a white coat, Conners knocked one in the head. One of the men pulled a pistol and shot at Puck. The shot went wide and Puck put a burst into his head. Conners shot the last one in the back as he tried to run. He glanced around and saw Sabrina, strapped to a chair, but very much alive.

"Sabrina!" Puck said, ripping the straps apart

She jumped up from the chair and into his arms. He held her tight and she laid her head into his shoulder.

"Hey, I don't mean to interrupt," Conners said "But we gotta get the hell out of here, like right now."

"Hey man, we got Sabrina," Puck said over his radio "We're coming out."

"Yeah, hurry up," O'Riley replied "Pretty much the whole base knows that we're here."

"Oh that's just great." Puck muttered

The three of them ran back down the hallway. Puck kept Sabrina behind him as the sped around the corner. Puck skidded to a halt and pulled Sabrina back behind the wall as bullets tore into the wall.

"Damn," Puck said "That's a roadblock."

"Ain't it?" Conners said "Frag?"

"I have a better idea," Puck said "C4."

"Oh that could be fun." Conners said

"Cover me." Puck said, ducking back behind Sabrina

Conners moved to the front and shot around the corner. He peered around the corner then pulled himself back as gunfire lit the area again. He poked his gun around the corner and shot again, then again.

"Almost got it, almost." Puck said

"Hurry the hell up man." Conners responded

"It's wired." Puck said, tossing it

Conners grabbed it out the air and launched it around the corner as hard as he could.

"Blow it!" He yelled

Puck clicked the detonator and an explosion rocked the building. The lights fizzled out and the walls shook.

"Go! Go! Go!." Conners said, grabbing Puck and dragging him

"Point." Puck said, moving in front

They ran as fast as they could, hopping bodies as they went. They burst out of a hole in the side of the building into a firefight.

"Lieutenant, where you at?" Puck yelled

"Other side, we see you." O'Riley said

"Move, point Zulu." Black said

Conners, Puck, and Sabrina ran to the point and ducked down. Puck ducked low and Conners ducked in behind him and slipped behind a building.

"Mathews, where you at?" Puck yelled

"Still on the hill," Mathews said "Where else?"

As he spoke, Conners saw a Scarlet Hand soldier jerk hard and fall to the ground. Conners fired a burst into a small group and two dropped. Puck launched a grenade over Conners's shoulder. They ducked back behind the building as it exploded.

"Let's get the hell out of here!" O'Riley called

Puck pulled his handgun from his holster and handed it to Sabrina.

"Shoot anything in black." He said

"PUCK! SMOKE!" Jax screamed

Puck lobbed a smoke grenade. After a few moments, Conners heard it pop and smoke began to fill the area around them.

"Switch to thermal!" Puck called

"No way!" O'Riley called back, sarcasm dripping in his voice

They switched their thermal vision on and sprinted out of cover. Conners heard Sabrina firing into the smoke, and they all did the same.

"I can't see!" Sabrina yelled

"Follow my voice!" Conners called back

He saw her running up next to him and he tapped her shoulder as they ran.

"Back through the tunnel?" Puck asked as they regrouped

"No time," O'Riley said "Out the front."

The front gate was open and Scarlet Hand soldiers were scattered all over the base.

"Packing up." Mathews said over the headset

"Copy." O'Riley said back

They continued to run until they had made it out of the gate, but the Scarlet Hand was closing in behind them fast.

"Leapfrog!" O'Riley called "Leapfrog!"

Puck stopped in front of him and crouched on one knee. He fired until everyone had gotten past him and then turned to run. Now it was Conners's turn. He crouched down and did the same as Puck. They did this all the way down the path until they had come back to where the helicopter had dropped them off. But Scarlet Hand was swarming all around them.

"Where is Mathews at?" Puck asked

"Right here." Mathews said, coming up behind

Mathews fired his MP5 into the crowd of Scarlet Hand soldiers.

"Moving in for evac." Came the pilot's voice

"Negative!" Conners replied "LZ's hot! I repeat LZ is hot!"

"Copy that." The pilot replied

They continued to fire at the soldiers. Conners was sure they were going to be overrun. Sabrina had taken another handgun clip from O'Riley and was now firing again. Conners stood up and blasted another clip. Suddenly, Puck yelled out and fell.

"PUCK!" Sabrina screamed

"Puck!" O'Riley called "You alright!"

"I'm hit!" He called back

"Where at?" Black asked, sliding down next to him

"Leg." Was all he could say

Conners had been hit in the leg before. It hurt, more than you'd think. It was like getting hit with a sledgehammer, but more than that. There was a very sensitive nerve in your leg. And, if hit, it could be very very painful.

"We have to fall back!" O'Riley said

"Further down the hill," Conners said "We'll get the evac from there."

"Pilot, going downhill, you should be able to see us!" O'Riley said into the headset

"Copy." The pilot responded

"Somebody get Puck!" O'Riley ordered

Puck took his pistol from Sabrina and handed her his rifle. Black put Puck's arm over his shoulder and helped him walk. As they began moving slowly down the hill and firing at the Scarlet Hand troops, who were no longer advancing, Conners took a hit in the shoulder.

"DAMN!" He yelled

He fought through the pain and continued to fire. The Scarlet Hand soldiers stopped firing and began to pull back. No doubt going to get reinforcements to pursue the Guardians.

"Hurry!" O'Riley called

They moved as fast as they could downhill. Conners saw the helicopter come into view, and he moved even faster. As he neared the helicopter, he glanced over his shoulder. The Scarlet Hand had gotten three humvees and were closing in again. Conners moved even faster, and Black reached the chopper first. He propped Puck up and Puck grabbed the minigun attached to the helicopter. He let the shots fly and Conners heard them tearing through the vehicles.

"Come on!" O'Riley called

Conners finally reached the chopper and jumped through the door. He saw Sabrina and Jax running behind him. Jax jumped through followed closely by Sabrina. The pilot hit the air just as the Scarlet Hand soldiers sped within fifteen feet of them. Conners collapsed back in a heap. They had made it.

Puck

Puck leaned back against the seat. Sabrina gripped his hand while Black covered his wound.

"We did it." Mathews said

"Hell yeah." Jax said, laughing

Puck laughed roughly. Sabrina slumped back against her seat and let out a breath.

"Are you alright?" He asked her

"Atticus." She said

"Huh?" Puck asked, confused

"Atticus is the one leading them." Sabrina said

"How do you know?" Black asked

"Hang on hang on," Puck said "He's dead, we saw it."

"I know," Sabrina said "I don't know how, but he's alive."

"Who is Atticus?" Mathews asked

"Charming's brother." Sabrina answered

This was meant with a series of very shocked looking Guardians staring back at Sabrina. None of them had known Charming had a brother.

"It's really hard to explain." Sabrina said

"Don't even bother," Black said "Not even sure I want to know."

"Me neither." O'Riley said

"Same." Mathews said

Jax coughed and leaned his head back. Puck listened to the gentle sounds of the helicopter. It sounded peaceful when the doors were closed up. Conners scratched his beard and stretched his arms.

"Well, good exercise if anything," He said "What did you guys find Lieutenant?"

"A bunch of files, O'Riley said "Not even sure what they all were, but we took everything we had time to get."

"Is that what's in the bags?" Sabrina asked

"Yeah," O'Riley answered "But I'm more curious as to what they did to you in there."

"They didn't have time to do a whole lot. I didn't tell them anything, but they tried electrical shocks, asking, and a bunch of other things I'd rather not talk about," Sabrina said "Then they were about to try some sort of potion when you guys got me out."

"Well thank God we got you out of there," Mathews said "I literally was sweating up there."

"Hold up," Conners said "Your ass was sweating, we were up in there in the fire fighting and breaking into buildings."

"Yeah, but at least you knew what was going on," Mathews said "Try listening to nothing but gunshots and hoping that you guys weren't dead."

"True." O'Riley agreed

Puck shook his head and laid back against the seat. He'd had a rough night, maybe he could get some sleep. That is, if nobody else got captured before they got back.
