Alfred and Sakura had been walking around for a while in an awkward silence. The lights were quite nice nad the stalls had plenty of warm, sweet treats for all. She was hugging herself since she was still a bit cold, so he took off his jacket and wrapped it around her thanking God Arthur was being a pest about wearing two for extra warmth.
"Arrigato Arfred but won't you be cord?" she asked blushing. She didn't want to be a burden to him the whole night after all. She hugged the coat around her closer. It was really warm after all. But why was he wearing two she wondered for a brief moment.
He shrugged with a huge grin, "Nah I'll be okay. I'm too awesome to catch something small and unawesome like the cold." He was beaming at the sound of her giggling and elt a bit of pride with it too. The American then led her toward a stall with all kinds of jewelry. "I was thinking of gettin' my sisters something from here since Amy won't shut up 'bout getting something this year. Want one?" he asked her examining the selection.
She shook her head quickly, "No no no! Prease, you don't have to be so nice Arfred-san. I wirr be fine without a gift. I can herp you pick instead..." Sakura started to look at the what was there now as well. She gasped softly at a pair of earrings. They were dangling with silver stars, two on a chain. "I think Ameria wourd rike those very much!" She pointed this time to a bow that had a small snowflake in the middle where the know was, "And that for Maderine."
"May have those pair of earrings and the bow please? Oh and the necklace all the way over there...No not that one. Yeah! Perf, thanks bro!" He paid, receiving a small brown bag that had all three presents in it. "Choice, now to get mom and pops and maybe een browse a bit more!"
"H-Hai but America-sama? Who's the neckrace for? It's rov-...it's quite nice..." By now her face was a dark red and her eyes were shifted down. Sometimes she hated the way she said words, now especially. She shook her head and tried to shuffle on, looking up as to not bump into people.
He sighed following after her. He placed a hand on her shoulder and she paused turning to face him. His face was red from the cold and trying to keep up with her since she was small and could squeeze between people. "O-Oh..gomen Arfred, I didn't mean to run away from you. I just..I just don't know what got over me?"
"Losin' up a bit that' all!" he said with a wink and ruffled her hair a bit. Alfred took her hand and started walking at a much slower pace and went from stall to stall trying to find the perfect gifts for the rest of his family. The more they walked, the more relaxed they both became. Alfred was a little surprised they had a similiar sense of humor, being how so reserved she usually was.
They reached the last stall nad her eyes went wide. "They're beautiful..." It was an open stall for kimonos imported straight from her home. Usually, there were imitations here and there that she knew were nothing to the real things, though a few came close. These, however, were legit. One that really caught her attention was a pale blue color with emerald green trimming. It was decorated with white windy swirls a snowflakes. "How much?" she asked the man running it. Her face fell since it was out of her range. "A-Arrigato.."
Alfred could see the dissappointment in her eyes despite her best efforts to smile and blow it off. He looked at the kimono and then back at her. He had gotten everyone their presents except for hers. What kind of hero would he be if he didn't save the day by getting the girl of his dreams something she wanted? He took out his credit card and handed it to the man. The stall owner gave him a questioning look, wondering how someone so young had money like that. Oh well, more pay for him. He wrapped it nicely and carefully, then handed it to him in a bag nodding. "Thanks dude, see ya around!" he called to him as he ran to catch up to her.
Sakura wasn't paying attention and was thinking of whether she wanted hot chocolate or tea when he appeared next to her. "Tea or chocorate Arfred?" she asked in a chipper voice. He knew she was trying which made it so much cuter and worth it when he finally gives it to her. But not just yet.
"Hot cocoa duh! Have you ever tried it?" he asked shifting all the presents around a bit so he could carry them better.
She shook her head smiling. "Afraid not, I usuarry get tea when it's an option so I don't rearry drink anything erse." She smiled sweetly taking some of the gifts so it would be easier on him to carry his drink and walk at the time. Once they got their drinks, Alfred led her to his car so that way they can enjoy some heat and relief from carrying everything. She slipped into the front passanger seat, he slipping into the driver's.
He set his hot cocoa in the cup holder and started the car, "Now we wait for this baby to heat up! It won't take long though. Dad's got a pretty good eye for cool cars that work well. Mom does on his good days." They both laughed at that, the air starting to get warmer. She slipped off his jacket and nestled in, still having it around her shoulders.
"This is very nice. You're very nicce to me America-san." She sipped her drink relishing in its warmth looking out the window.
"You're pretty cool too, Sakura. Can't tell me no one's nice to you either. You're a sweetheart!"
She smiled pushing some of her short hair back giggling. "Everyone is very nice to me but that's onry because I don't say much. I don't want to offend but ometimes the truth needs to be said. When I do say something they don't rike, they stop being nice. I onry say what shourd be said, and it's the truth. You're the onry one who stirr speaks to me after I say something..." Sakura then leaned over nad kissed his cheek. "Arrigato, Arfred.."
He froze, his face flushing. His mind turned to mush but he did his best to recover. Forgetting that his drink was still hot, he guzzled it down and burned his tongue. "Haht, haht, haht!" He fanned his tongue whimpering but eventually calmed down. They sat there for a few minutes in a more comfortale silence than before he broke it. "I really like ya, Sakura. Like, I like like you. A lot and...Yeah..."
"You do?" she asked a bit more surprised than she realized. She cleared her throat setting hers down laughing. "Truth is, I rike you too. Rike rike, I mean.."
"Yeah?" he asked making sure she meant it. She nodded and turned on the radio once she figured out how to and sat back listening to the soft music. She swayed to it humming along with the ones she knew by heart. He smiled singing out the words. It went from that to them belting out the words. Some people passing gave them odd looks hearing them through the windows being closed. That only made them sing louder.
"I never raughed that hard before," she said between giggles. Once everything had finally died down, Alfred saw it as the perfect time to give it to her.
He reached back and grabbed the bag with her gift in it. "This is for you! Merry Christmas Saki!" he said handing it to her. She started to open it carefully and stopped when she saw the design.
"Arfred you..you bought this...for me?" Her voice was shaking from the sheer thought that he did that for her. It had been far too expensive but he managed to get it for her along with everyone else's stuff. "Y-You have to...I-I mean you...Thank you, thank you so much Arfred!" It was weird trying to hug across the front seat but the feeling was still warm and amazing.
"I guess I should go get Mattie so we can head home..." It had been a few hours and they had moved to the backseat awhile ago. Sakura shifted and cuddled closer muttering, "If that's what you wourd rike to do." She pressed her lips gently against his in a soft and half asleep show of affection. She rubbed her eyes sleepily and opened the door to get out. They walked back to where they met and kissed again.
She blushed clutching the present happily to herself. "I can't thank you enough for this. I'm not even sure when I'rr be abre to wear it but I can't wait untir I can!" She was giddy and even bouncing a bit in place with the biggest smile she had ever wore probably in her entire life.
"It was nothin' Saki. Might be able to wear it maybe on a date or something? Maybe next Saturday perhaps?" He didn't really plan on asking her out but it was worth a shot. He smiled getting another kiss on the cheek and her answer whispered in his ear. It was obviously a yes. He beamed touching his cheek as she headed towards what seemed to be the indoor ice rink for those who didn't like being outside for that long. Once she had dissappeared out of site, he headed in what he thought was the direction of his brother and Mathilde. Sure enough, he found them hugging and wrapped around each other so tight he might need a crowbar to separate them.
"Well aren't you two all lovey dovey with each other?" he said earning rolled eyes from both of them. Mathilde had leaned in and said something to Mattie before kissing him again and walking away with a message from him as well. Al looked at Mat with a raised brow before walking back to the car. After all, neither of them really wanted to hear what Arthur had to say if they were at least a little late.
They arrived at the car and got in. Alfred started the car and was heading out the parking lot, both thinking about their day. That is until Al broke the silence yet again. "So you look like you had a great night eh Mattie? C'mon, tell me what ahppened~."
"N-Nothing really...H-Her family's nice enough a-a-and w-we had some time alone...We umm...talked and s-stuff..."
They were at a stop light when Al leaned in narrowing his eyes, "That's complete and utter bullshit. Y'know it too..." Then realization hit him. "Holy shit bro did you really? You actually did it?! WAY TO GO MATTHEW!" He exclaimed. Matthew blushed deeply and tried to merge with the seat but it was hopeless.
The boys arrived home, scrambling to get inside. It was about eight fifty-two when they burst through the door carrying all the gifts Alfred had bought everyone as well as Mattie's stuffed lion. "We're home~!"
Arthur came down the steps from his and Francis' bedroom. "I was told that you would be home no later than nin on the dot! So why is it I give you just a small bit of leeway nad you nearly get yourself in trouble again? Must I change the curfew? Again?"
Francis came out the kitchen humming and waltzing, taking Arthur in his arms and continuing to dance. Arthur tried to pull away but the Frenchman was just too damn good. He chuckled dipping his husband then pulling him back up, "Zhey are young and growing Amour. We muzt let zhem 'ave a bit of freedom non? Zhey are 'ere and zafe and on time so we muzn't worry!"
Mattie set the gifts under the tree and headed up to their room with Al in tow. "I'll explain everything once we're in the room. It's a bit of a long story..."
