Chapter 10: Drago and Eva's Hostages
Disclaimers: I do not own any of the characters in this story(excluding Eva).
[Somewhere in a secret hide out, Eva returns with Fluffy, Spot, and Snuggles to Dr. Psycho's lab. They are seen with bruises and scratches, and they report their failed mission. Geist however, was less than impressed]
Geist: So… You failed to snatch the shard from them… Is that right?
Eva: Well, we could have gotten the shard, but that blue rat proved to be more of a nuisance then we original anticipated.
[Geist snarls in fury, which makes the canomutants tremble with fear. Knowing that Geist has a very short and violent temper, he could snap and kill those who stand before them. He clutches one fist, and slams it against the control panel to one of the computers, creating a large dent on it, with resultant sparks coming out]
Geist: You know how much I hate it when henchmen fail me? Well? Do you? DO YOU?!
[Eva gains the courage to stand up]
Eva: I can understand you don't tolerate failure but losing your temper will not fix anything, so chill the hell out!
[The canomutants were shocked with what Eva just did, Geist was more impressed]
Geist: Why do you speak to me like that? For you know I will kill you for it?!
Eva: Because, Geist, you need us for this mission! So for your sake, get a grip!
[Geist does his best to control his temper, and thus having a violent outburst as a result. Sure, he's known for his reputation as a vicious killer and a homicidal maniac. But in this case, he knew he just had to control himself. He takes a few deep breaths. The canomutants eye ball him fearfully for they didn't know what more to expect]
Geist: I don't need you, or anybody. You're lucky I'm in a forgiving mood. I'll excuse your failure this time. But mark my words, I won't always be so forgiving!
[The canomutants tremble and whimper behind Eva, who stands her ground with the psychotic Doberman]
Eva: I'll keep that in mind.
Psycho: Besides, Geist, we have more pressing matters at hand. And now, thanks to the brilliant complexity of my genius, I've studied the shard that Drago showed us long enough to know where the other shards are located.
Geist: Good.
Psycho: Based on what I've studied so far, it appears that there are energy readings from several parts of the world, including in Guangzhou, Tokyo, Cairo, and the Amazon. It appears that our primary enemies, the Road Rovers, are in the city of Guangzhou, looking for one of the shards of this… Black… Chaos Emerald that Drago spoke of. If we can beat them to the punch, we just might have a winning chance against them.
Eva: But the Road Rovers and the Mobians already have several of the shards!
Psycho: I know. But if we can gain possession of some of them, it will be enough to make more powerful soldiers for our army. So, I suggest that you and Geist head on over to Guangzhou, and see what you can do about swiping the shards before the Road Rovers do. Oh, and take this radar device with you. You'll need it.
Eva: Got it.
[Dr. Psycho hands over the radar device to Eva]
Psycho: I trust you'll put it to good use.
[Suddenly, Drago shows up]
Drago: Oh, and be sure to bring me along for the ride guys. Because if I'm not mistaken, "my" enemies are here in this world two. And I have an old score to settle with them.
Geist: Alright then. Come along, Drago. We've got a… Job to do.
Eva: For your sake Drago you better prove your worth.
Drago: Trust me, sweetie. You need me on this mission. In fact…
Eva: What the…?!
[Drago grabs Eva, and holds her in his arms in a flirty and romantic style]
Drago: I'll show you just what I'm worth. Heh heh heh.
[Eva shoves Drago off her, and punches him in the face]
Eva: Don't touch me you damn pervert! Keep your hormones to yourself!
[A stream of blood runs down Drago's mouth. He wipes it off, and licks it]
Drago: Huh. A bit feisty. I like that in a girl. You should meet Lupe when you get a chance to, sugar bumps!
Eva: Whatever! Next time you touch me it will be the last thing you ever done!
Drago: Oooh! Sexy!
[He grins and winces his eyebrows as Eva frowns at him]
Eva: Humph. Shut up.
Geist: Enough already! We've wasted enough time here! Let's get down to business.
[And so, the villains head out for the city of Guangzhou. Back with Clarissa and the Rovers. They were getting closer to finding the shard]
Clarissa: Almost there, just a little bit more.
Blitz: How do you know?
Clarissa: Call it a woman's intuition.
Blitz: Oh.
[Blitz scratches his head]
Colleen: I sure hope you're right, Clarissa.
Clarissa: Me too.
[A few minutes later. She finds a black crystal and picks it up]
Clarissa: Me too.
[A few minutes later, they pass by an old build and when she got a closer look at the broken glass she was a black crystal and picks it up]
Exile: What's that?
Colleen: (gasp) It's a black emerald shard! Clarissa! You've got it!
Clarissa: You're right! I can't believe I actually found one!
Hunter: Way to go, Clarissa! Now, let's see if I can contact the others.
Clarissa: Alright.
[Hunter takes out his communicator and contacts Sally]
Hunter: This is Hunter to Sally Acorn, come in Sally.
Sally: (through communicator) This is Sally. What's your status, Hunter?
Hunter: We've found one of the shards in Guangzhou. What's your status, Team Knothole?
Sally: (through communicator) Good news, we've found one of the shards as well!
Sonic: (through communicator) With some help from yours truly.
Sally: (through communicator) Sonic!
Hunter: Okay, good! You hold onto it. We'll meet with you soon! I'm going to contact the Wolfpack now.
Sally: (through communicator) Okay. Good luck, Hunter.
[Hunter then contacts the Wolfpack with his communicator]
Hunter: Hunter to Lupe. Come in Lupe. Do you read me?
Lupe: (through communicator) This is Lupe. Hear you loud and clear, Hunter. What's your position?
Hunter: We found one of the shards. What's your status?
Lupe: We ran into some difficulty. But we found the shard in Hong Kong at last.
Hunter: Excellent. Be sure to hold onto it, Alpha wolf. We just found one of the shards two. We'll meet with you and team Knothole soon. Take care.
Lupe: (through communicator) Same to you. And be careful out there. Lupe out.
[Back with Hershey, Guntiver, and the Pack they were climbing back into the boat]
Hershey: Well we better return this boat and gear.
Shadow: Right.
[Canus drives them back to the docks. Not too far from them Drago was watching them, and when he looked at Diablo and Reynard Jr. he grinned wickedly]
Drago: (looking through a pair of binoculars) Two unsuspecting wolf pups don't know that they're in for a big surprise. (chuckles)
Eva: What are you babbling about now?
Drago: I'll tell you what I'm babbling about. You see, Eva, Lupe values her teammates as family. She considers the
younger members of her pack as her children. And Reynard and Diablo are like sons to her.
Eva: So? What's that got to do with getting the black emerald shards?
Drago: It has a lot to do with it, honey cups. You see, if we capture Reynard and Diablo and hold them hostage, Lupe will have to surrender.
Eva: That's actually very good. Family is such a big weakness, and that's going to cost her dearly.
Drago: I know, right? Come on, let's go.
[The two villains leave their hiding place. Meanwhile, the Wolfpack had just finished returning the boat and scuba gear that they borrowed]
Canus: So what do we do now, Lupe?
Lupe: Well, I just received a transmission from Hunter. And I've just been informed that both teams have found two of the shards. It's probably going to be another hour or so until we meet with the others.
Shadow: We'll have a better chance of finding the others shards if we spread out around the area.
Lupe: Good idea, Shadow. I suggest we split into groups. Canus, Guntiver, you guys are with me. Lyco, Leeta, Hershey, you two check the west side of town. And Reynard, Diablo, you two check the east section. I trust that you two can put aside your differences and cooperate with each other, right?
Diablo: No problem, Pack Leader. We may be young. But we're not little kids.
Reynard: Yeah. So as long as Diablo doesn't shoot off his smart mouth yap.
Diablo: Heh. Well look who's talking.
Reynard: Watch it, smart ass!
Lupe: (clears throat)
Shadow: Alright. Let's go.
[They soon split up, close by Eva and Drago were watching]
Eva: This will be easier than I thought. We can pick them off one by one.
Canus: Rey, Diablo. Are you sure you boys can be trusted to be on your own? Because if you two are going to fight with each other like you usually do, then I may have to watch you.
Diablo: I'm sure we can work out our differences, Canus. After all, we're teens.
Hershey: Well you two are going to have to start acting like teens instead of like little babies.
Lupe: I actually agree with Hershey's statement. Are you sure I can trust you two to be on your own?
Diablo: Yes, Lupe. I'm sure we can manage.
Lupe: For your sake, I sure hope so. Well, we've wasted enough time. Let's get moving.
[The wolves all separated and begin their search. Meanwhile, Drago and Eva went after Reynard and Diablo. They carefully stalked their unsuspecting victims through the streets of Hong Kong. As Reynard and Diablo walked their way into the Hong Kong national park where there were trees]
Reynard: Are you sure we're going to find anything in here, Diablo? Because I think you're way off.
Diablo: Trust me, Rey. You gotta search every part of the city just to make sure you didn't miss anything.
Reynard: (impatient) Well, this is the last time I get stuck with you.
Diablo: You know, for as much as I'd love to argue with you, we're on an important mission right now. So cut out the attitude, okay?
Reynard: (scoffs)
[Drago and Eva are seen peering from behind some bushes]
Drago: Hey, Eva. What do you see?
Eva: I see live prey just waiting to be snatched from their pack.
Drago: (grins) Well then, let's go snatch some wolf pups.
Eva: (grins) This is going to be fun.
[The villains descend into the bushes, and prepare to pounce on the two younger canines. Reynard and Diablo searched through the park, unaware that they were being stalked. Diablo crouched down to the floor, and picked up several scents]
Reynard: What do you smell?
Diablo: Well, so far no shards. But several human scents. Apparently, humans like to take a walk in this park.
Reynard: Yeah, I bet. With all these trees around.
Diablo: Well, we've been wandering around this park for about an hour or so. We'd better get back with the rest of the pack.
Reynard: Got it. Let's go.
[The two wolves casually walked their way through the trees, with Diablo just behind Reynard]
Diablo: Hey, Rey. Do you think Lupe could be right?
Reynard: About what?
Diablo: You know, about us being to harsh on Blitz.
Reynard: Pfft. Nope. My opinion on that creep hasn't changed a bit since we've met him. Anyone with a big ego like him is not okay in the head.
Diablo: Yeah, I guess you're right. After all, Arph!
[All of a sudden, Diablo disappears]
Reynard: Diablo?
[Reynard looks over his shoulder to see that his friend had vanished]
Insects: (chirping)
Reynard: Diablo? Where are you?
[He looks in all directions. But so far, no sign of him]
Frogs and Toads: (faint croaking and ribbiting)
Reynard: (impatient) Come on, Diablo! This is no time for games!
Insects, Frogs and Toads: (chirping, croaking and ribbiting)
[All of a sudden, he realized something]
Reynard: Wait a minute. He couldn't have just disappeared like that… Unless…
Eva's Voice: Figured it out already?
[Reynard looks around him]
Reynard: Whose there?! What have you done with my friend?!
Eva's Voice: I'd be more worried about what's going to happen to you, but if you to know where he is, come try to find him, if you can that is. (cackles)
Reynard: Who the hell are you?! You don't sound familiar!
Eva's Voice: Well of course not, we just met! But I'll tell you my name, it's Eva.
Reynard: Eva?! Never heard of you!
Eva: Well, you just did! So now we know each other!
Reynard: You bitch! Don't screw with me!
Eva: Time is wasting, young wolf! I suggest you find your friend soon! Otherwise we might decide to hurt him!
[Reynard growls angrily. But he heeded Eva's words. And so he picked up the scent from where Diablo was last seen. And he followed it. The scent led him all the way into the city, and into subway. When Reynard stopped in his tracks, he called out]
Reynard: Diablo! Where are you?
[He looked in all directions. But so far nothing. All of a sudden, he heard a deep sinister voice which sounded all too familiar to him]
Diablo's Voice: (cackles) It's been a long time Reynard Jr. How have you been?
[Reynard's ears rise, and his eyes widen with suspicion]
Reynard: Huh? Drago? What are you doing in Hong Kong?
Drago's Voice: You figure it out, because I'm not going to tell you.
Eva's Voice: We might give you a hint.
Reynard: Stop playing games with me you cowards! Where's Diablo? Well? WHERE'S DIABLO?!
Drago's Voice: You want to find him so bad?! Well you better start looking!
Eva's Voice: Good luck. (cackles)
[Reynard growls. He once again picks up a scent, and finds Drago and Eva's scent. His search leads him all the way into a dark tunnel on the rail road. He races inside the tunnel. And as he ran, he thought to himself]
Reynard: (thinking) Hang on, Diablo! I'm coming!
[Eventually, he comes to a stop]
Eva's Voice: Aw why'd ya stop?
Reynard: (thinking) The scent stops here. But why? Uh oh…
Drago's Voice: Well, looks like you found us. I'll give you credit for that, kiddo.
Reynard: Huh?
[Suddenly, Drago appears behind Reynard]
Drago: Lights out!
[Drago hits Reynard on the back of his neck, and knocks him out cold]
Eva: Well that was easy. Looks like we caught you're friend as well little wolfy.
[She looks at Diablo who had his hands tied behind his back and his feet tied up as well, and a gag over his mouth. Diablo struggles to break free from his restraints]
Diablo: (through gag) Ugh! Damn it! Let me go!
Eva: Sorry no can do. Drago be sure to tie up this wolf too.
[Drago ties up the unconscious Reynard, and gags him]
Drago: Such a shame your father isn't around to save his baby boy. (chuckles)
[Meanwhile, back to the Wolfpack, everybody with the exception of Reynard and Diablo had regrouped. But Lupe immediately notices their absence]
Lupe: Wait. Where's Reynard and Diablo?
Guntiver: Beats me!
[Guntiver scratches his head]
Canus: You don't suppose…
Lyco: They couldn't have gotten lost. Knowing those two, they have a good sense of smell and good tracking skills.
Lupe: Something's not right here.
[Lupe places her paws on her hips. Just then, Lupe's ears picked up a familiar voice calling her]
Voice: Hey! Lupe!
[She looked over her shoulder, and saw Sally, Sonic, Tails, Manic, and Sonia]
Lupe: Sonic! Sally! Good to see you again!
Sonic: Right back at ya Lupe!
[Sally noticed Reynard and Diablo weren't there]
Sally: Wait, what happened to Diablo and Reynard?
Hershey: They probably got lost, I'm sure their fine.
Lupe: I don't know about that. Somehow I get the feeling something's wrong. Those boys are usually very obedient. It's not like them to be gone this long.
Canus: I believe your suspicions serve you well, Lupe.
Guntiver: Yeah… Somehow I get the same feeling that something might have happened to them. Because wolves with good instincts usually don't get lost like that. I wonder…
[Guntiver places a paw on his chin]
Tails: Well maybe we should go look for them.
Sonic: Yeah, good idea little bud. Where did they head off to Lupe?
Lupe: Well, I told them to go check the east side of town for anything that might be useful. But so far, all we could find is this one shard.
[Lupe shows the shard to Sally]
Sally: Well we're making progress. But we should still go look for them.
[Shadow appears]
Shadow: I'll go check it out, and report to you if I find something.
Sally: Okay. Take care, Shadow.
[Shadow gave her the thumbs up and skated all the way to the east side of the city. As he got there he felt something strange]
Shadow: (thinking) {Something's not right here. I can feel Reynard and Diablo's energy signature but I'm picking up two more with them. Could they be in trouble?}
[He continued searching. Meanwhile, back with the villains, Drago and Eva have Reynard and Diablo all tied up and gagged. As they rest helplessly by their captor's feet, the two villain's chuckle]
Drago: I've waited so long for this chance to get even with my adversaries.
Eva: What do you want to do with these two youngsters? Torture them?
Drago: Well I don't know. What would you do?
Eva: I'd torture them. Until their last breath.
Drago: That sounds a bit crude and unpleasant, my sadistic friend. And for as much as I'd love to do that, we need these boys alive. For one reason…
Eva: I know, the black emerald shards.
Drago: Exactly… (licks lips)
[Drago licks his lip and then he then turns to Diablo and Reynard, who both growl at him from under their gag.
Eva: Ooh, their mad.
Drago: Growling ain't gonna do you no good, boys. Now, I suggest you start talking.
[Drago positions Reynard up against the wall, and removes his gag]
Reynard: Drop dead, traitor! I'm not telling you anything!
Drago: Oh… Well…
Drago backhands Reynard]
Reynard: (Grunts)
Drago: Let's try again. Tell me where you have the shards of the black chaos emerald. Or else.
Reynard: Or else what, douche bag?
Eva: Quite the vocabulary little man.
Drago: You need to respect your elders, kid! I'm surprised Lupe didn't teach you to watch your mouth.
[Drago smacks Reynard again]
Reynard: (Grunts)
Drago: You better start talking, Rey. I'm usually not such a bad guy. But even my patience has limits.
Reynard: You don't scare me, Drago! I know a selfish bastard like you would do anything to get what he wants! Well you're not going to have it! And I won't betray my friends!
[Drago smacks Reynard, and knocks him down]
Drago: I've just about had it with your disrespectful attitude. Alright then, I'll deal with you later. Maybe Diablo will have the brains to talk.
Eva: We'll have to see.
[Drago gags Reynard, and pushes him aside. He then turns to Diablo. He removes his gag]
Drago: Okay, Diablo. You're usually the wisest of the cubs. So start talking.
[Diablo stays silent for a moment, and then spits in Drago's face. Drago wipes his face clean, and frowns]
Diablo: Screw you, Drago!
Drago: What did you say, boy?
Diablo: You turned your back on us, and you betrayed us all. You are nothing more than a disgrace to your people and to the Freedom Fighters in general. And you expect us to talk? You expect us to betray our people like you did so selfishly? Do whatever you want, you scum! Whip us, torture us, but we'll never talk!
Drago: Kid… You shouldn't have spat in my face like that… Because now, I'm REALLY upset!
[Drago punches Diablo]
Diablo: AGH!
Drago: That's what you get for spitting in my beautiful face!
[Diablo glares at Drago, who stands above him with his paws on his hips]
Diablo: (Groans)
Drago: I guess we'll just have to punish you boys! Maybe then you'll start talking! Eva, let's drag them to the torture room, and get the whips!
Eva: With pleasure.
[And so, much to Reynard and Diablo's dismay, the villains prepare them for some painful physical punishment, can they be rescued is all hope lost for them?]
