Chapter 10: Promise
Fiona's pov:
"Cake watch out! Cake! Caaaake!" I jumped up to find myself in a hospital room. Most likely a part of the kingdoms medical hall. At first I felt dizzy. Now the sound of someone crying. And then felt the familiar pull of the black glow… fainting.
Now to Gumball and the guards in the #2 watching room
Gumballs pov:
How…how could this happen. Fiona and Cake both severely injured Fiona hasn't stayed conscious for more than five minutes. Cake has broken one back leg and majorly sprained the other. A knock on the door caused everyone to look up and no one said a word. Half way from my seat to door I looked at all of them. "Don't worry everyone I'm sure the girls are fine. And the most helpful thing you all can do is find out what the monster was, and where it came from." As I continued towards the door the banging increased.
I opened the door and a lollypop doctor burst through. "Prince Gumball I think you need to come see this."
Gumballs pov:
"So what you're saying is… I'm sorry but what you're saying seems impossible. Can you prove that… well how did you even come up with that assumption?" I looked at Fiona's face so calm and young. I'm amazed she has even been in the hospital for this long usually she just takes whatever comes with a fight and continues. In fact I doubt she's ever been here for more than some bandages or Popsicle sticks.
Just as the doctor turned to leave Fiona's hand moved over her stomach and she let out a painful moan. And almost at the exact same time a very similar moan was let out from the other side of a curtain next to Fiona. I gasped such a thing couldn't and shouldn't be possible. All things in Aaa that are beyond the usual odd usually mean something bad. Like Marshalls actions before the mushroom war…. I shook my head at my own thoughts and crossed the curtain to see Diamond in the same position as Fiona. I opened the curtain. "Doctor do me a favor and prick Fiona's finger."
Lollypop Doctor grabbed a needle and Fiona's hand. Soon after she was pricked Fiona's face cringed. Turing to Diamond I watched hers do the same. The exact same way.
"Doctor, can we put this room under surveillance?" The doctor appeared next to me and nodded. "Actually this one seems to be in much better condition than Fiona, and yet her symptoms are equally as bad. But if you still want them under surveillance?" The Doctor continued to mumble on. "Yes please and could you also send up her animal friends, Cash and Midnight, to my lab. Lets see if they know anything about ."
Gumballs pov:
"So you're telling me that you two know what's going on, but you can't tell me. And your reasoning for that is because I'm a part of some prophecy, and the less I know the less danger I'm in?"
Cash and Midnight both looked at each other and then together said "yes, precisely."
I shook my head in dismay "I'm a scientist and a prince, I'm pretty sure I can help in some way. The girls for one thing I can figure out what's causing them to have the exact same physical reaction to…well everything" I paced realizing they weren't going to budge and that somehow I'd be or am in a bit of danger already.
Midnight came closer leaving Cash looking over my test tubes from previously destroyed work, courtesy of Marshall. She put a paw on my shoulder. "Look these girls are special and something tells me that you already know that." She took a second to look me over. "So I need you to make me a promise…" She whispered slowly into my ear and cash walked out the door. Next thing I know she waved a paw over my face and said "No matter what don't let them out of your sights. We have to go now." She waved a paw over my face again and I fell to my knees breathing heavily all I could do was watch as she ran on all fours out of the lab. The last thing I heard was an alarm going off and someone mumbling on the speaker.
