Kyoyas POV
The next day broke in and as usual Kyoya was awake before the sun had risen. He was used to wake up at this time. In the past, his cruel stepfather used to look him up in his room, when he didnt had a mission for him. The room had no windows, so Kyoya developed a inner rhythm about the time of day. He could nearly always say, when the sun is going to set down or rise up.
Kyoya went over to the place where Jasmina was sleeping, in order to wake her up. Before he did so, he looked down at her. She was sleeping peacefully. Kyoya noticed that she always put her hair down, when she went to sleep. It looked much prettier that way. When they were walking she would always put it up, since it was hot, all the time.
Kyoya knelt down, to wake her up. But instead of doing so, he watched her sleeping face. There was a strand of hair on her face. Kyoya gently brushed it away. Jasmina looked cute when she was sleeping. He didnt know how long he sat there, staring at her quietly.
What the hell am I doing? He suddenly asked himself. Did I go nuts? I have to wake her up!
Kyoya shook her shoulder lighty. Lately he only had to shake her shoulder to make her get up. But this time Jasmina didnt react.
Hey, wake up! I said annoyed.
Mmm...
Jasmina! Come on, wake up already!
Just give me five more minutes...she begged and turned around.
Was that a joke? As if five mintues were going to make such a difference...
Hey! Just get up ...or I will leave without you!
This is blackmail!
I dont care! And anyway...if you are able to discuss this with me, you are already awake. So just get up.
Jasmina didnt respond. She got up reluctantly and rubbed her eyes. Im soooo tired!, she complained. Not my problem! I reminded her. I had planned to arrive at Rock city this evening, thats why we had to set off in time. So that we could be at Niles hometown tomorrow.
Jasmina colllected her stuff. Ok, lets go!, she sighed. We started walking.
oOo
We had been walking for quite a while under the burning sun. Today was just hot as the other days before.
Hey, Kyoya? Jasmina asked
Yes?
Are we going to arrive soon?
Yeah, but not today. We will probably arrive tomorrow. I could already imagine why she was asking.
Oh I see . . .and is there a standpost on our way?
Yep...I guessed right. She didnt have any water left.
No...not before we reach Rock city. Did you empty your water bottle again? I asked smirking
Y-yes, Jasmian admitted embarrassed. She blushed.
I sighed. Then I took my bag and got my water bottle out.
Here, I said, as I handed her the bottle. Drink from mine.
Thanks, she said grateful.
Shyly she drank only a little and gave it back.
You can drink more.
No, its alright.
We continued our trip. We had been walking more than three hours. Jasmina was walking right behind me, like she always did. Therefore she noticed the sandstorm that was coming from behind us, first. There were dark clouds on the sky, getting closer. Wind was starting to blow around us, making the sand swirl.
Kyoya? We should get away from here. There is a sandstorm coming! She warned me in worried voice.
Her remark made me smirk.
Only you would think that we could travel faster than a sandstorm!
We will have to wait till its over. . .I explained to her.
What? B-But . . . Jasmina said.
I will show you how...I took a large cloth out of my bag and built a small tent of it.
We will have to wait inside the tent, until the sandstorm is gone. I told her.
She didnt look convinced, but since she had no other option and the sandstorm was getting closer, she nodded. She got inside the tent and I followed her.
The tent was way too small for two persons, since it was acutally made for one. We had to sit very close to each other. Our shoulders were touching. Outside the tent, the wind was blowing pretty strong now. I noticed that Jasminas cheeks were red. She always blushed so easily.
We were waiting in silence. The sounds of the wind outside the tent were quite loud now. I wondered how long the sandstorm was going to last. I doubted that it would be gone within an hour.
Damn...that just meant, that we would lose time again. I thought annoyed.
Then I remembered that Jasmina still hadnt told me the reason, why she decided to visit Nile. She had told me, that she run away from her former home, because they treated her badly, letting her work for them, as a household help. But she didnt tell me trigger for her decision. Why didnt she leave them before? What happened that she decided to leave them now?
I was aware of the fact, that it didnt have to bother me that much. Still I couldnt help it, but wonder about it. It was probably the best to simply ask her.
Hey, Jasmina...? I began.
She didnt react.
Jasmina?
I looked at her. Her eyes were closed and she was breathing calmly.
Eh? Are you kidding me? She had fallen asleep! Suddenly her head slid down and landed on my shoulder. I didnt move, so that she could rest her head there. It was more comfortable for her, in this position.
Maybe I should let her sleep longer, I thought grinning. I was sure that she didnt sleep well yesterday night. She had been really scared, cause of the events yesterday. I never had seen her that scared before. It had been quite a shock to see her crying, since she was always such a cheerful person. I didnt know why, but seeing her cry made me feel uncomfortable. It was strange, but in this short time, she had managed to get closer to me, more than anyone did before. Actually she was getting dangerously close. . .
Kyoya was not sure, what to think about this. Normally he couldnt stand it, when people were around him...why was it that different with Jasmina? He somehow got used to her in this short time, they had been travelling together.
His thoughts were interrupted ,when he suddenly felt Jasminas warm and steady breath on his neck.
The feeling of her warm breath gave him goosebumps, but he didnt change his position, so that she didnt wake up. Gosh...this girl drives me crazy! The sandstorm was still raging outside.
While I waited for the storm to pass away, I remembered our discussion from yesterday evening. She had asked me about how I got my scars... but I had refused to tell her anything about it or about my past. I even lost my temper. That had been primarily the reason, why I left her . . .
Hmm...wasnt it quite ironic, that I wanted to know more about her, while I refused to tell her about me?
Jasmina suddenly changed the position, she had been lying her head on. She woke up.
Eh...? She looked puzzled, as if she had to remember where she was.
Hey there, sleeping head ! I greeted her.
She finally realized that she had been resting her head on my shoulder. She blushed.
S-sorry...she muttered embarrassed. I hope I havent been too heavy...
Nah...not really. And you havent been sleeping long, anyway. I smirked
Oh... I see.
The sounds of the windstrom were still there.
How is your arm? She asked.
Quite fine, thanks. I replied. I was quite surprised yesterday, since I didnt know that you were that good at treating wounds. It didnt look, as if it was the first time, you did this.
Jasmina smiled about this unexpected praise.
Ive learned it from my mother. She said in a sad voice. She had been a healer and many people went to her, with all kind of diseases. When I was small, she showed me a lot of how to treat wounds and told me many things about different plants and herbage.
Her voice had become unsteady.
You still miss your mother.
It wasnt a question,it was a statement.
Dont you, too?
Sure, of course I do.
I had been treating her very badly. Since I hadnt been understanding her intentions. Kyoya voice was filled with remorse. He paused as if trying to figure what to say next. Now that he had begun, he didnt know how to continue. It was the first time he had told someone sth about his past.
Im sure, that she understood that...Jasmina said in an attempt to make Kyoya feel better. What happened? Jasmina asked with a weak voice.
Well...after my father passed away in this sudden accident everything changed for me. It hadnt been easy to deal with the feelings of this terrible loss. My father was everything for me. My friend, my mate...He was the one, who brought me Leone! He taught me how to beyblade... The thought that he had left us, was too hard for me to accept. About this time my mother figured out, that she had cancer. She didnt tell anyone, not even me. She remarried, in order to protect me, in terms of money. I didnt understand that back then. For me, it was horrible, that she decided to marry again. I was very sad and angered. I even refused to talk to her for a while...I acted very childish and unfair towards her...
That is something I will regret my hole life . . .Kyoya paused, lost in the memories of his past.
I hated my stepfather from the first moment I saw him.
Just four months after the remarriage, my mother passed away. It was in the last stage of her cancer... At this time, I was so shocked. Not only did my father leave me, now my mother was gone too. I felt that there was no one left, to whom I meant anything.
The man, my mother married, turned out to be a delinquent. He was part of the Yazuka, the Japanese mafia and he forced me to work for him- as a drug dealer.
Jasmina got very pale, when Kyoya told her that.
This had been the worst time in my life. My stepfather used to hit me and look me up in a dark room. He was nothing than a sadistic devil. He was the one, who gave me those scars. . .
Kyoya took a deep breath. He didnt have to tell her about every dark memory, his stepfather left him. It was enough, what he had told her now. So he skipped over some parts of the story...
After three years, I somehow managed to escape from him and started a new life in another town. Quickly I learned how to depend on myself.
Jasmina didnt say anything, but she looked pretty much shocked. She was still pale and had a deeply grieved expression on her face. She remembered, that she saw some old scratches and scars on Kyoyas arm yesterday, when she treated his arm. She thought, that they had been caused by his bey training...but now, she knew better.
There was nothing, but silence since Kyoya had stopped talking.
To say, Im sorry about what happenend to you, would sound pretty much lame...huh? She asked in a depressed tone.
No...its fine.
For some reasons, Kyoya didnt understand himself, he felt as if there had been a burden, that was taken away from him. He never would have thought, that talking about it, would actually make him feel better. . . relieved. . .
You have been right, he said surprised.
About what?
It feels good, that Ive finally spoken with someone about it.
Really?
Yes . . .
Jasmina still looked down. Kyoya sighed. It wasnt his intention to make her sad. Deep in thoughts he put his hand over hers. Jasmina didnt move her hand. He gently stroke the back of her hand with his thumb. Her hand felt very soft and warm.
Suddenly he realized, what he was doing right now. What the hell am I doing? Kyoya froze. Quickly he removed his hand and got up. He avoided Jasminas glance.
The sandstorm is over. He said. We should set off!
