Welcome! We get to see Taiyang's reaction and Qrow reveals something interesting.

Chapter 10: You are a father in law(and a grandfather)! And Straight from the Crow's beak.

A few days before they leave for the TerraForming project. Team RWBY Dorm

Taiyang was standing in font of the door and once again looked at Qrow who was trying hard not to laugh. "what is so funny?" He asks but Qrow refuses to answers. Shaking his head Taiyang knocked on the door and it was a flying robot that answered.

Taiyang was unsure of how to react but the robot helped him by saying "Hello grandfather! I'm Sky Rose!" Taiyang blinked then dropped in a faint, luckily Sky Rose was fast enough to catch him. "Well that could have gone better." She says as Qrow who was laughing helped her drag him into the room.

Five minutes later

Taiyang groaned and saw that his daughters were looking at him worriedly. "Ruby, I had the weirdest dream that a robot called me grandfather..." He trailed off as Sky Rose brought him a glass of water. "It wasn't a dream was it?" He asks.

Ruby nods and says "I made another robot. His name is Steel Rose." Taiyang sighed and asked "any more surprises?" Jaune and Pyrrha enter the room at that moment and a sparkle catches his eye. Taiyang gets up and sees that his girls had rings on they hands.

He got angry "Why do you have rings on?" Yang was making signs at Jaune and Ruby was trying to figure out how to tell him without Jaune getting hurt. Too bad he picked up on the unsaid things. He turned to Jaune and said "You shall pay!" He leaps at Jaune, who on instinct, deployed his shield and performed the Shield Bash.

Thing happened very quickly. There was a crunch as the shield met Taiyang's face. Then Taiyang was sent flying back. A crash as Taiyang flew through the closed window. The girls wince and Qrow was rolling around on the floor laughing loudly.

"Dad!" Ruby and Yang yell as they rush to the window to see that Taiyang had landed on Glynda and his nose was broken. They back away slowly as they hear Glynda growl angrily. Taiyang would be too busy running to talk to them.

Same day a half an hour later.

Taiyang was in the infirmary to get his bruises and broken nose looked at. He was lucky that Glynda was understanding his reasons for his flight.

The girls had gotten the rest of the teams together and were showing him pictures of their time in the reading. "wait stop" he said and looked at a picture of Sage closer. "I've met him before." This surprised them. "When?" Weiss asks Qrow scratches his chin "About three years ago." He began to tell his tale.

Flashback: three year ago unnamed road Mistral

Qrow was walking down the road as it rained hard. "Oz better like the info I'm bring him because this weather is not what I need." He looks in the distance and sees a shelter. AS he rush to it with his weapon ready just in case he got a better look at the details. It was leaves covering a small cave and the smell of a stew and fire was drifting out on it.

He moved the 'door' out of the way and was greeted by the sight of a man chopping up things and throwing them in a large pot. If he had to guess it was a ten gallon pot. It looked well used. The stranger spoke up "Come and sit! The food is almost ready."

Qrow set his weapon near him and sat near the fire. "What brings you here and why so much stew?" He asked as lightning flashed and thunder boomed outside. The stranger stiffened and Qrow waited. "Sorry if I seem untrustworthy. I was traveling down the road when the rain started so I set up camp."

He pauses to check the food. "As for the stew? I always make enough for more than one person. You never know when you will run into someone. Here." He hands Qrow a wooden bowl that looked hand made. Qrow took it and it was filled with stew.

The stranger rummaged in his pack and throw him a wooden spoon. They sat there in silent eating. As the last of the stew was eaten Qrow asks "What's your name stranger?" "Call me Sage." The storm had cleared as they ate and Sage packed up his stuff. "looks like it's time to go." He pauses and throws a book at Qrow. "Here. You'll enjoy it."

With that he was walked off and when Qrow looked it was like he disappeared. Qrow looked at the book. It was leather bound and the cover said 'Moon shining: The drink of the outlaw' He flipped it open and read. it was a guide to make booze. Qrow grinned and pocketed it. "This will be fun to make."

End of flashback

"and that's what happened." Qrow finished taking a drink of his flask. Blake pinched her nose. "Of course he couldn't resist giving the drunk a guide to making booze."

Qrow laughed and say "I think it was a great idea! I'm selling it like crazy. I might not have many buyers now." he checks a book. "only about 200 people are returning customers but it's a growing market. I still have the book." He shows them a battered book. It was same one Sage gave Qrow. "without this I'd be sending that family less money."

Ruby and Yang hug him tightly. Ren wondered how often Sage had visited Remnant. He'd look into it later.

Author's Note: Looks like overprotective parent vs shield ended with the shield winning. Yes Sage has popped in for a visit more then once but you will have to find out later because we will be having a look back at the project. There are things afoot. See you next time! Ultima-Owner signing out!
