As the hero's feet land firmly on the golden sand of Themyscira, Diana sighs and admits "Everything happened so fast. I would have liked to have brought you here on better circumstances."
Kal grins "I'm just glad your where you want to be." and gently places his hand on Diana now ridged back.
"What's wrong Di?" pushes a concerned Superman
Diana forces a smile " I'm nervous."
Kal chuckles and pretends to make his hands shake "What do you mean your nervous?! I'm the guy called superman, wearing a 'S' on my chest on an Island full of anti-man Amazons."
Not in the mood to laugh she replies "I'm sorry Kal."
"You don't need to be sorry Di, I'm glad I can be here for you...Diana are sure it's just nerves?"
"I was here so long ago, what if I no longer belong here either?"
"Of course you will, I heard your a Princess in these parts."
Diana takes his arm and leads him into the forest. "Well if not, we can both be outsiders together." They both let out a small laugh and continue through the most beautiful plants and trees.
Kal falls behind as Diana surely takes the lead and appears to know every inch of their surroundings.
Diana holds back a branch for him to pass "It's not much further."
Kal nods in thanks and states "You remember this place well."
Diana smiles "Exploring was the only thing that allowed me to be myself and escape the palace when things got... too much."
Kal can hear a slight sadness in her voice and realizes that it has been a lot harder for her to come back here than everyone had thought.
After about another 10 minutes of walking Kal's jaw drops in amazement as he sees the first glimpse of the Amazon's ancient society through the gaps in the thick foliage. The buildings are tall and made of beautiful white marble. As he approaches he notices a number of Amazons practice fighting, reading books and braiding hair. Marble tables surround what looks like a training area in the middle of the buildings and are either covered in food, books or weapons. Diana smiles at him and gestures to their surroundings "Welcome to Paradise Island." This made Kal smirk because Diana never calls it that but by the look on his face, she knew he was surprised it lived up to it's American given name.
Diana smiles and waves to her sisters as Kal slowly follows her through the crowd of women. Some glare and other seem excited to see Diana return home but whenever they catch sight of Kal they seem to look startled and whisper to their neighbors.
Kal felt slightly uncomfortable to use his super-hearing but couldn't help it when he heard them curse Diana for returning after having stayed away for so long. Their words are even harsher when they brought him into the conversation.
As they make their way into one of the buildings, Kal knew that Diana had heard some of the foul talk as she seems relived to be inside.
"Should I have introduced myself?" asked a panicking Kal.
"No, don't worry my mother will wish to do it formally herself before the inevitable feast tonight."
Still fidgeting he pressed her "Okay...so what now?"
"I will introduce my mother to Superman, she will hate it. She will have my sister prepare you more appropriate clothes. I will introduce her to Clark Kent, Kal El of Krypton... and she will love Superman by the end of the night... or in a few weeks."
Kal laughs "A few... months perhaps?"
Diana grins "Well the last man her met was Steve Trevor so perhaps I was being slightly optimistic."
He rubs his hand together "Great. Lets do it."
She squeezes his hand and give him a reassuring smile "Lets."
