Mickey snuck back into the kitchen and was startled by the sound of Rose clicking on the light.

"Hi." She said looking at him strangely.

"Rose, what are you doing up?" Mickey asked surprised.

She shrugged sitting at the table taking a sip of tea. "Couldn't sleep." Rose glanced at him. "What some tea?"

"Thanks." He said sitting down pouring himself a cup.

Rose sighed. "Have a nice visit with the Doctor?"

"How did you know where I was?" Mickey gawked. Rose smirked and gently tapped his arm. "Come on, Mickey I know you. I knew you go check on him."

"Fair enough." He nodded taking a sip.

Rose tapped her cup before taking another sip. "How is he?"

Mickey shrugged. "Fine at least that's what he says."

She just nodded not really surprised by his answer.

"I told him about David." He said casually.

Rose sighed. "I thought you might. How did he take it?"

"Well, I think he understands your reaction to him, now." Mickey replied.

Rose winced in embarrassment. "I didn't mean to respond like that. I was in shock. I never thought I see him again."

Mickey rested his arms on the table. "Well, now that he's here and that he knows what are you going do?" He asked.

She leaned her head back and groaned. "I don't know."

"Have you told David about any of this?" Mickey asked.

"No, I can't at least not yet." She said softly.

He rolled his eyes. "Well, when were you going to do it, before or after they both show up at your door?"

She shot him a look. "I'm not the bad guy, okay? I didn't ask for this." "Alright, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Mickey replied quickly raising his hands.

Rose scoffed lightly. "The thing is I thought I never find love again after Bad Wolf Bay. I didn't even want to try but David came and he made everything feel wonderful again. He made me forget my broken heart."

She wiped her eyes. "And now the Doctor's back and everything is confusing."

He exhaled. "Okay, let me ask you this. Which one do you want to be with?"

Rose rubbed her eyes. "I don't know, the Doctor was my first love and I used to dream about him coming back but David is everything I ever wanted with the Doctor but knew wasn't possible…in fact I think he's more."

Mickey looked at her. "I think you made your choice."

She smiled sadly and sniffed. "I guess but it doesn't make it easier." Mickey sighed. "Well, nothing ever is."

He stood from his chair. "Good night." He said. "Oh, the Doctor wants to see you." Mickey said yawning.

"Oh?" She replied. "Yeah, he says he wants to see how you're doing but he says he can't stay long and just wants to say goodbye properly."

Rose scoffed softly. "I thought he hated goodbyes." "Well, apparently he wants to say it this time." Mickey replied giving a half shrug. "Night Rose." He said patting her shoulder before leaving.

Rose just nodded processing what Mickey said. She did love the Doctor. What they had was special and they made each other better but his life was a mystery, she didn't even know his name.

And the Doctor treated her well and cared about her but sometimes it wasn't enough. David was more open and honest. Yes, he had his face but everything about him was special; his voice, his character, his heart, his kiss.

David was her reason to love again, her reason to believe again and she loved him. Rose sighed, there was her answer she loved him, she truly loved him but could she really leave the Doctor? Rose sat there staring at the table for a few minutes before finally turning in.

The next day at work David couldn't concentrate, he was worried about Rose. She was acting strange and he didn't know why. She seemed quiet and insecure about their relationship even asking him if he would stay no matter what.

David didn't understand this; this wasn't his brave happy Rose. No one not even Jackie was telling him what was going on.

Finally at lunch he decided to go over and see her, he had to know what was wrong after all he loved her. He got into his car and drove to her house when something blue in the wooded area caught his eye. It looked like a police phone box.

"What the?" He wondered stopping the car. David got out for a closer look. He thought his eyes were playing tricks on him walking towards it but the closer he got the more obvious it was a large blue box.

"When did her folks get this?" David muttered running his hand over the smooth wood, it gave out a gentle hum making him jump back a little.

"Sorry." He said then scoffed. "Great, I'm apologizing to a box!" He realized feeling silly.

But there was something familiar about this box but he couldn't think what. David stood there concentrating hard.

"Where have I seen this thing?" He muttered removing his glasses. Then David thought back to Rose's phone; the man in the pic wearing a pinstripe suit with his face standing in this…

David's eyes widen. "This is his'!" He said shaking his head in disbelief. "This is the Doctors' then that means." His heart dropped. It was a like a kick in the gut. It all made sense, now. "Why didn't Rose tell me?" He wondered.

Suddenly he heard the Doctor call out "Hello?" and the TARDIS door opening David panicked and ran back to his car and drove away.

Later Rose decided to see David, she knew she'd owed him an explanation for her behavior and felt it was time to tell him about the Doctor.

David was going over some files when there was a knock on his door. "Come in." He called. Rose slowly walked in. "Hi." She smiled slightly.

"Hi." He replied not looking up from his notes. "How are you?" She asked. "Fine." He answered simply.

David's distant tone was bothering her as she sat down nervously in a chair. "Listen, I need to tell you something." She said quietly swallowing.

He sighed and looked at her. "If it's about your friend using your parent's property as parking lot for his blue box then you might want to take it up with him."

"What?" She said.

"But since we both look alike I can see where you'd get confused." David remarked standing from his chair.

Rose swallowed. "You know then." David nodded brushing past her to the file cabinet. "Yeah, I know." "How, Mickey?" She asked.

"Well, that would've been an improvement from your silent mother but actually I was worried about you and drove to your house and spotted it in the wooded area." He replied folding his arms sitting at the edge of his desk.

"Why Rose? Why didn't you tell me he was back?" He asked.

She shrugged. "I don't know. I guess I was afraid you'd be upset with me."

He scoffed. "You really think that little of me?" "No." Rose said shaking her head.

David rubbed his eyes. "Rose, I'm not upset but I am hurt." She lowered her eyes. "I know and I'm sorry." She gazed back at him. "But I do love you."

He shook his head. "Keeping me in the dark is love to you? You say you love me but you can't tell me the Doctor's back and yet everyone else knows."

Her eyes glazed over as she fought back tears. "I was going to tell you."

"When before or after you leave me forever?" His voice breaking. Shaking his head he sat back down in his chair and clasped his hands together.

David sighed heavily. "I-I think we should stop seeing each other for a while."

Rose's eyes widen. She couldn't believe he said that. "What for?"

"Because I don't think you know you want and as much as I love you I'm not going to make that decision for you and right now there's something I need to tell you." He replied reluctantly.

"What?" She asked.

"I got a call from a hospital in New Scotland." He said resting his arms on his desk.

"A job offer?" Rose replied softly. He nodded. "A Doctor's position, the hours are better and I get to be near my family again."

She nodded; Rose knew where this was going. "So you're leaving?" She said.

"No, I haven't decided but I think we both need time to think about what we want." David replied lowering his eyes.

Rose shook her head. "So that's it then? You're just going to give up on me, on us? You could leave tomorrow and I'd never know would I?' She replied her voice cracking.

"Rose, you could leave tomorrow but would I know?" He choked. She turned her head unable to look at those hurt brown eyes.

David sighed. "Rose, I want you to stay more than anything but if you have to hide from me that the Doctor's back then you need to decide if I'm what you really want in your life."

He stood from his seat. "I've got to go. I've got a patient waiting." David said softly. He briefly glanced back at Rose before leaving the room.

Rose didn't stay long she quickly left the office and stood in the parking lot deflated and wanting to cry but couldn't, she was too mad at herself.

She couldn't believe this was happening just when she finds love again she loses it. Her heart was breaking. She couldn't let David go. She couldn't imagine her life without him nor did she want to try.

Tears filled her eyes and slowly ran down her cheeks. She stood there and quietly sobbed not caring who saw her.
