Wow already up to chapter 10. Just want to say I'm not really a NaLi shipper so this one took me some time to write. It's not that I dislike Lisanna in any manner I just don't like her and Natsu together. Personally I prefer Lisanna to be paired up with Laxus or Gray but again thats just my opinion.

One other thing. Although this is a rewrite of Mashima's work there are things that will stay the same in this fanfic. For those things (I will use parentheses to say when events stay the same as written in the anime/manga.)

JcL107: I've got enough FT to make a full chapter, Plus it has quite a bit on why Lucy was ignored. Sorry can't answer the questions, but I will say wait a couple chapters to find out.

Leoslady4ever: You should know by now I'm good at messing with peoples heads like that. But yes the Jaeger Lucy moment was a cute one.

Dyeni: Still not sure who I'm shipping anyone with so far, or don't want to say it. Gabriel will return eventually, but that won't be for a while. Thank you for the compliments.

Prettykitty280: Its all good. Like I said normally I don't correct spelling mistakes in reviews, but I kinda had to since its a potentially paining name.

I Own Nothing.

Chapter 10.

On Our Way to the Games? Part 2?

One Week before the games.

Natsu, Gray, Erza, Levy, Wendy, Jet, and Droy had finished their training on the beach(Everything stayed the same for them minus the visit to spirit world.). On the final day they were visited by Crime Sorcery consisting of Jellal, Ultear, and Merudy. On that day Ultear used her magic to give the members of Fairy Tail their Second-Origins which essentially doubled their magical tanks. They were also told of a dark energy the trio had been feeling over the last few years during the GMG. Erza having recovered first had a talk with Jellal(Sadly the JeRza fan in me keeps that scene the same.). Happy still has yet to look at Erza since then.

To their Surprise the Strauss siblings and Cana had come back from training the same day they did. Also so far they were the only two teams to come back from their training for the games. They didn't think much of it at first, but after a few days they had to discuss what they would do if the others didn't come back in time.

While the others had focused all their energy on the games and restoring Fairy Tails glory a certain pink-haired Dragon-Slayer's thoughts were else where during the meeting. So deep in thought he was he didn't even notice everyone else had left the guild for the evening, except for Happy who was curled up sleeping on his lap. "Guess I'd better head home." Picking up the exceed before standing up he walked out the guild and started heading home. That was until he heard a voice.

"Hey Natsu." Said a shy female voice.

Instantly recognizing her voice. "I thought you went home Lisanna." Natsu said turning to face his childhood-friend.

Shaking her head. "I didn't want to disturb you. Its not often I've seen you that serious."

"Nah I was just zoning out." Staring to act like the goof most knew him for. "I mean I know Gramps is going to pick me for the games so why bother listening?" Grinning at the silverette

"You've had that same look since that train ride a few weeks ago. You know...When you disappeared for a while."

Lifting his hand up he signaled her to follow him while they walked to his house. "I'm still having a hard time believing what we did to Lucy." Thinking of everything he learned from the train about the blondes fate these last seven years, and how she made him promise not to tell anyone else that she was even alive.

"I wish I could have gotten to know her." Lowering her vision so she looked at the ground.

"Huh?"

"From how everyone has talked about her I think we would have become good friends."

Only needing a moment to think about the two girls. "Yeah you two would have been friends." Wishing he could tell her so he wouldn't have to shoulder the truth of her still alive all to himself, but he made a promise.

"I wonder if she's still out there somewhere?" Looking up at the skies half illuminated by the sun while the other half was starting to reveal the night starry skies.

"What do you mean?" Wondering if he said anything in his sleep, or when knocked out on any of the train rides since then.

"You all thought I was dead for two years." Sometime during the walk Lisanna had wrapped her arms around Natsu's left arm, and was leaning against him. "But then I came back to you all. I wonder if Lucy will do the same."

"I hope so." Wondering how long it would be till he finds her again, or if he could even stumble upon her again.

"Did she mean a lot to you?"

Coming to a complete halt. "Lisanna..." Not sure what to say.

"When Macao told us all about Lucy you took it the hardest." Taking a quick look around into the barely illuminated forest Lisanna knew they were minutes away from his house in the woods. "You can tell me the truth."

Letting out a guilty sigh. "I was her best friend" Natsu revealed after minutes of silence. "She relied on me and I wasn't there for her when she needed me the most."

"You can't always be there for the ones you love." The Take-Over mage said knowing first hand.

Hearing that he remembered that it was only the Strauss sibling there on that fateful mission. "I should have been there with you three." Pulling the silverette into a hug careful not to squish the sleeping Happy. "I should have been there for you."

"I should have fought harder for you to come as well." Hugging back unintentionally squishing Happy.

Happy woke up feeling himself between a rock and a soft spot. Carefully he managed to escape between Natsu's hard chest, and Lisanna's soft boobs. Looking up at the two. "They Liiiiiiiike each other." He teased before flying off home.

In truth ever since childhood when they first meet the two were nearly inseparable. One was never seen without the other. Everyone thought it to be a one sided love with Lisanna being the only one who had any affection for the other, but truthfully Natsu simple didn't know, or wanted to show it to the others. When it was only them he showed the same love and care she had given him. At first is was awkward calling Lisanna his wife when playing, but the more he said it the more he thought about it becoming real.

One day I'll make you my wife. Natsu one time announced months before she was taken from him. He was told not to joke around like that from Lisanna who giggled at what he said. Once she was done laughing he told her he was serious. He wanted her more than anything. In truth they were each others first in many ways before that day, and soon after exchanged and gave their virginity to the other.

It was at that time that Natsu began to build a house for the two of them with much help coming from Gildartz who to Natsu was a second father after Igneel. The only person he had told about his true relationship with Lisanna. He didn't want to tell him that but it was the only way he could get him to help him build the house. 'Making a house for the future Mrs. Dragneel are we?' He teased, but it was the truth. The house the two young mages had been walking towards was supposed to be for Lisanna as a wedding present from him. Whatever spare money he had that wasn't going into the house was being saved for a wedding ring.

There were two reasons he wanted to go on that emergency S-Class mission that went oh so wrong. One to protect the his love. Two he was so close to affording the ring he knew that mission would give him the final push he needed to buy it. Where they too young to get married? Yes. Did he care about that when his heart told him that is what he wanted? No.

"I Should have bee there to protect you." Remembering the pain he felt when he received that dreadful new. "My world felt so hollow without you." Voice soft and filled with sadness. It was at that time he became extremely reckless during missions. He started looking for Igneel again hoping he could tell him something to mend his broken heart. Its why he hardly spent anytime in the house he built with his bare hands.

"As did mine." Lisanna said matching the man's emotions in her own voice. Thinking of her hardships and heartaches it took readjusting to her new life in Edolas.

Looking over the woman's shoulder did he see the house originally made for the two of them. A house he finished during that fateful mission. "I didn't even feel like leaving anymore." He was so depressed he let everything go and never bothered to take care of his belongings or even himself. The guild gave him the support he needed, but deep down if it wasn't for Happy needing to be taken care of he would have fallen into an even darker place. It was painful enough there was no way he would lose the Exceed the two of them raised.

"Mira told me about your downward spiral."

All the Dragon-Slayer could do was think about that dark time of his young life.

"Until you meet Lucy." Looking into his onyx black eye she saw he was thinking of happier memories at the mention of the blonde's name. "You liked her didn't you?" Feeling her heart ache asking that question.

Staring back into her sky blue eyes. "Lisanna!" Not sure what to say to the woman he loved about another.

"Its alright." Resting her head on his chest. 'After all we both believed we'd never see each other again.'

Thinking of the five and half months he had with her(Meet July 2nd, and the Tenrou group vanished December 16th.). "It was a slow, but I think I did." Thinking of the last thing he did for her before Edolas. When he dug up a Rainbow Sakura Tree and floated it down the river in front of her apartment. 'Is that when I realized I started caring for her more than just a friend?'

"Then I came back." Feeling a mixed bag of emotions not sure what to feel.

"You did." Unsure how to feel as well.

During the month(s?) between her return and the S-Class promotional test Lisanna always had Natsu and two-three other guild mates at her side at all times. Both wanted the others to go away so they could talk about their relationship that they thought ended two years ago. Truthfully this was the first time they were alone to talk about this. Only with a few more complications to discuss than what they thought there'd be.

"We all thought you were dead." Speaking softly. "Even if it was only for a few years I thought you were gone forever." Tightening down on his hug.

Sadly Lisanna had to accept something during her life in Edolas. She loved Edo Fairy Tail, but she had to accept she'd never see her Fairy Tail again. "I never thought I'd come back to Earthland again."

"You came back." Leaning down to do something he wanted to do ever since she came back.

Seeing what he was doing she lined her lips up with his approaching ones.

In that moment the two lovers finally shared a kiss after all the hardships. Sadly it didn't have the passion their last one did. In a weird way it almost felt forced, like they were doing what other would expect and not like they really wanted to. Separating from the kiss.

"Natsu!" Backing away from the man with a tear slowly falling down her pale cheek.

"Lisanna!" Reaching out to stop her retreat and anymore tears from falling. Much like the one he felt rolling down his own.

"How much did you love her?" She wasn't trying to accuse him of anything, but feeling the love they once shared vanishing before her she couldn't help but have it come out any other way.

"I don't know." He said truthfully. Seeing she was about to ask the same question again. "I was trying to figure out what my feeling for Lucy were until you came back." Looking down at the ground. He really didn't know if he felt any love for the other woman, or if it just a strong friendship. With how he last saw her he felt his heart being sealed up unsure if he loved Lisanna or Lucy. "With her gone I keep asking myself what could have been? What if I didn't ignore her? What if..."

"I didn't come back." Completely looking away from the pinkette despite her body still facing him.

There were nearly three minutes of silence between the two. The only think that could be heard were the night winds blowing through the forest.

Turning away. "I'm Sorry Lisanna." Natsu said voice filled with guilt.

Seeing him turn away Lisanna ran at him until she wrapped her arms around him as his back was turned from her. "Natsu!"

"I still love you Lisanna." Touching her hands on his chest. "But..."

"But?" She sobbed.

"Until I can answer what Lucy really meant to me I don't think we can be together." Thankful she couldn't see the tears streaming down his cheeks, hoping to escape her grip so she wouldn't feel them.

"So we're..." Getting out her words between sobs.

"No." Giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. "At least for now we are."

Letting go of him she leaned her forehead on the back of his black vest. "Take your time." Understanding that his heart needed time, and she was more than willing to give him that time. After all if the two of them are meant to be together she wants it so Natsu has no question anywhere on who he loves with all of his heart. Lisanna isn't a greedy person by any means, but if she was going to give someone all of her heart they needed to give all of theirs to her as well.

"Thank you." Natsu started to walk the rest of the way home.

"Natsu." Lisanna tearfully called out feeling her legs giving out unsure if the two would ever see each other as lovers again.

"Yeah Lisanna?" Coming to a stop.

"Thank you for being my first."

"Thank you for being mine."

With those final words the two formers accepted what needed to be done. Lisanna simply waiting for Natsu to find his answer knowing she will always love him. For Natsu he needed not only to save Lucy and her daughter from Gabriel, but also find out whether or not it was love he was starting to feel for her.

The next day. Two days before the GMG begin.

It was decided that out of the current members of Fairy Tail in Magnolia that team Fairy Tail would consist of Natsu, Erza, Gray, Lisanna, and Wendy. Master tried to get Mira to be on the team, but she told him her lack of competitiveness would most likely hinder the team. Luckily for them Crocus was only a full days ride via train away so they could arrive the mid-way through the day before the games began.

The train heading towards Crocus was nearly packed so all the members got split into teams of two. Most pairing were just randomly put together with no thought by Master Makarov. And what would you guess than anyone other than Lisanna and Natsu being paired together as traveling partners.

'This isn't going to be awkward at all.' They both mentally sighed. They were the last and only ones to find seats in the very last car of the train.

Once seated Lisanna could see Natsu's nerves rising as he anticipated the incoming torture that was his motion sickness. sighing to herself for what she was about to say. "You can rest your head on my lap."

Natsu felt his whole body stiffen up from the offer he was just given. Turning till he was looking into the silverette's sky blue eyes. "Are you sure?" He asked nervously especially with...

"I'm sure." Slowly guiding him until his pink locks touched her pale soft legs.

Five seconds after resting his head did the Dragon-Slayer feel the train lurch forward. He did feel his motion sickness rise up, but for some reason it wasn't hitting him as bad as it normally did. He started to wonder why that was, until he felt a set of delicate fingers fiddling around with his hair. Feeling guilty for what the Take-Over mage was doing for him after what he did to her last night he said three words before closing his eyes to hopefully sleep through the hellish ride. "Thank you, Lisanna."

Looking gently down at the man using her lap as a pillow. "You're welcome Natsu." She smiled weakly at his now sleeping form. Sure she felt most women in this situation would take it much more sourly. She couldn't bring herself to feel anything negative about the man. She was willing to wait for him to find his answers, That was how much she loved that pink-haired idiot. "Let your heart find its way back to me."

End Chapter 10

Next Chapter.

Eve of the Games? Part 1?

Sorry for the shorter chapter. I had this chapter going longer, but with how strong the NaLi was in this chapter I couldn't bring myself to end it any other way than what it did. I'd Also like to apologize if the NaLi 'break-up' scene came off as unrealistic. I know I've shown some flashes of good romantic scenes in other works, but romance is not a strong point of mine. Hopefully this is just me being my own worst critic again, but if its not please let me know.

Before anyone complains: No this is not one of those stories where every male character is in love with Lucy. As of right now Natsu's heart is confused on who he really loves, Shirahama was put into that cute moment by Lucy herself to soothe his motion sickness, Jaeger so far is the only one who knows for sure how he feels about Lucy. So please no complaints for 'everyone seeming to be in love with Lucy'.

Until next time. Hope you all enjoyed.
