Voltaire stood up and looked around, the desert stretched on for miles in every direction, but he smiled, the newly faint light of the rising sun illuminated it and he realized he knew this desert, he loved this desert, this was his home. He noticed a faint glow in the distance slowly being engulfed by the young day, and a tall black spire was silhouetted amidst the dawn and the glow, and he laughed "this couldn't be more perfect" he said to himself still smiling, but then his cheerful tone diminished "wait…" his expression became worried "if that portal in the dreamscape led here then…". He panicked but remained calm at the same time, thoughts racing through his head he turned to Valkyrie "Valkyrie wake up" he said insistently, she was still out cold "dammit I was afraid of that" the mental barrier he had placed in her also encouraged sleep, she wouldn't be waking up any time soon. "I hope you aren't heavy" he sighed as he gently picked her up in a bridal carry "this is going to be a long walk" he murmured to himself as he headed towards the glow"

Valkyrie could feel a nice soft bed beneath her, she tossed and turned noting she was covered in warm sheets, her eyes slowly opened and she stretched and yawned "where am I?" she asked herself in a confused state. She surveyed her surroundings, a reasonably sized room with exposed brick walls that stretched up to a high beamed ceiling from which Christmas lights hung, casting a warm light around the room, books lay in massive stacks surrounding the majority of the room, a full length mirror was tucked away in the corner next to grand curtains that seemed to make up an entire wall beside her royally canopied bed. There was a nightstand next to the bed, made up of a dark wood and out of the corner of her eye she could see a similarly styled wardrobe opposite the wall of curtains, she checked the digital clock on the nightstand, eight at night. She got out of bed and walked over to the curtains and threw them back "wow" she said stunned stepping back to take in the view, huge French style doors were opened and revealed a comfortable terrace, but what lay beyond was breathtaking. Brilliant bouquets of colors danced and twinkled in a sea of lights, she could see vast arrays of buildings, from skyscrapers to Greek monuments all in this chaotic whirlwind of a view. She steeped to the edge of the terrace and leaned over the railing looking down; she was at least ten fifteen stories high, upon a building with hundreds of windows.

"Great view huh?" came Voltaire's deep relaxed voice from behind and she jumped a little "don't scare me like that I almost went over the edge" she glared at him, he was leaning against one of the French doors and laughed "don't give me any ideas" he gave her a teasing smile and walked over to lean on the railing beside her looking out over the city "where exactly are we?" she asked him returning her attention to the view as well "smack dab in the middle of the Mojave desert" he said. "I've heard of that" she said "are we in America?" he smiled and nodded "yup, welcome to Las Vegas Nevada little lady" "how did we get here?" she asked looking at him, "I carried you for miles so you didn't have to sleep in the dirt, what a great friend I am" he chuckled then turned and walked back inside motioning her to follow "c'mon I'll give you the grand tour of my house" she was reluctant to leave the view, but she followed him back inside. You've already seen my room he motioned to the room where Valkyrie had woken "how did you afford this place?" she asked as she walked with him out of the room "I've been around for a little while, I know almost everyone in this town" he said "saved up some money, called in some favors and voila" they entered the main living room which was equally as impressive, like the bedroom, the entire wall facing the city was a system of windows, the décor was modern, and the kitchen sat under a balcony loft area that overlooked the room, he sat on a black sofa and invited her to do the same so she did, she sat across from him in a chair that matched the couch and looked at him "okay so I'll give fletcher a call and he can teleport us back to Ireland" she said taking out her phone "actually, it'd be more helpful to stay here" he said looking back at her "and why is that?" she asked him "because this is where the monastery for the endless dream is" he leaned back on the sofa "and we can get good information there" she looked at him skeptically "this is where the sacred monastery is?" he splayed his hands "this is the city where dreams are made doll" she glared at him "fine, and don't call me doll" he nodded and stood "sure thing doll" he had changed into a new set of clothes, a deep black suit that was slightly reflective, a solid black shirt, and a blood red tie "now come on, I think I have a dress that'll fit you" she stood and arched an eyebrow while she crossed her arms "and where do you think we're going?" she asked "why my dear Valkyrie, clubbing of course" came his reply with a sly smile.
