No One's POV
Night had fallen upon the Drakov mansion, Abigail, Mikol, and Asen all residing inside in various rooms, relaxing after a long day at school; the irritating, petty, and at this point tedious drama with the Petrova doppelganger and her friends having not lessening even after a week or two at Mystic Falls High School.
However, Abigail had found other friends on the cheer squad and was enjoying her classes while Mikol and Asen were fitting in with most of the football team, including the Prodigal Son, Tyler Lockwood, though Abigail still thought something was off with the Lockwood wolf; overall not everything seemed to be at a complete loss thus far.
The peace and tranquility of the night was shattered, however, Abigail's window blown in, broken and splintered as the pieces of double paned glass littered the floor of her room from the sudden attack.
"Mikol! Asen!" Abigail suddenly calls out, struggling against the abrupt hold against her neck, having zero time to reach for the weapons she had stored in various places in her room.
"Abigail Dragomir." The vampire growls, eyes darkening and flashing dangerously.
"Wh- what's it to you?" Is Abigail's only reply, glaring back with equal venom and malic, determined to show no fear in the face of her attacker.
"Ah, I would be more polite, sweetie. I could after all, so easily kill you. With just a simple flick of the wrist." The vampire tsks, his grip tightening on Abigail's throat as if to prove his point.
Simply glaring more and not dignifying the vampire mercenary with a response, Abigail flails only for a moment longer before grabbing his hand that lies on her throat, using her Guardian strength and prying it off her, throwing the vampire across the room in one throw, gasping for much needed air.
The reprieve didn't last long, the vampire attacking with more fever, only this time Abigail was more prepared, grabbing a well-placed stake by her nightstand, and driving it into the vampire's stomach as the vampire lunges forward.
"And I think you under estimated just who you were dealing with." Abigail hisses darkly, her other wrist expertly twirling another stake in her hand and driving another stake into the vampire's heart as he staggered under the brute force and pain of her first well-aimed stake; Abigail was never more thankful for the training she did with her brothers, it quite literally saved her life.
"Abby-" Asen flashes into the room. "There isn't much time. More are coming. Abby, you need to run! Get to the Mikaelson mansion. You will be safe. Do you understand?" Asen urges, fear flickering in his eyes, making her own adrenaline and fear kick up; Asen was never afraid of anything.
"No- Asen, I can help. What about you and Mikol?"
"We'll be fine, Abby. Don't worry about us. It's our job to protect you. We will be right behind you, okay? You need to go before it's too late." He urges, shaking his head lightly, his eyes and stance still very alert and tense.
Windows break, the sound of the glass shattering can be heard from downstairs, Mikol's voice almost indistinguishable downstairs from the hectic chaos that reigns.
"RUN, ABBY!" Asen commands, stakes armed in his hand and other weapons and spare stakes strapped across his body armor as he faces towards the noise not looking back as Abigail's now retreating form, prepared to defend her to his last moments if needed.
He was a Guardian after all, bound by his oath; et serve defendat, protect and serve. And he would always fulfill that duty, first and foremost.
The full light of the moon casted sinister shadows on the forest floor as Abigail ran blindly through the forest, hyper away of being stalked, and Asen's words echoing in her mind, pounding, racing, like a record on repeat.
Heart pounding, fear and adrenaline now pulsing through her at an alarming rate, Abigail ran quicker than she ever had, Guardian powers surging through her, not wanting the person or persons to gain one inch on her.
But the gap was closing, the wind rushing by, making Abigail break off a branch of a nearby tree, fashioning a make shift stake out of it; it would do for now at least.
A figure moves forward, graceful and lithe, body nearly prowling forward like a panther in the shadows, the sudden movement making Abigail lose her momentum and stumble over a root, though quickly regaining her balance using her Guardian powers.
"No!" Abigail screams, scrambling a bit blindly, swinging hard with her makeshift stake.
"Easy now, love. It's just us. You wouldn't want to accidently stake someone with that, would you?" A voice offers, smooth and calming, clearly attempting to be soothing, but with adrenaline and fear pounding in her veins and Guardian powers surging beneath her skin, Abigail barely recognized the familiar British accent.
Abigail was nearly frantic, struggling like a trapped animal to be free, hysterically swinging the branch she had in her hands, and nearly managing to clip the vampire.
"Nik- you're scaring her!" An annoyed voice growls, the figure prowling just outside the shadows, keeping watch of the situation and the woods.
"Niklaus, let her go." Another deeper voice commands, at that, Abigail stumbling forward straight into another hard chest.
"No! No! Please! Let me go!" Abigail struggles.
"Shhh, Astin… It's okay. You are safe. Come now, hush." Elijah's familiar voice finally manages to register in Abigail's hysteria.
"Elijah!?" Abigail abruptly stops, peering up to see Elijah's face looking down, worry in his expression.
"Yes, Elskan." He rumbles, inner animal rumbling a little deeper for his mate, arms bringing Abigail into his chest to cradle her carefully. "Everything is alright."
"Elijah." Abigail rambles out nearly incoherently, immediately clinging to him like a koala bear, seeking comfort and familiarity.
"So you recognize his voice but not mine, love? I'm hurt." Niklaus' British accented voice asks, making Abigail turn her head to see him stand close by, moonlight illuminating only his face and upper torso revealing blood everywhere.
"Nik?"
"Yes, darling. You have quite the swing you know. That branch stung a bit. Your brothers taught you quite well, obviously. Nonetheless, I even killed that vampire for you, love." He comments, a small smile pulling at the corners of his lips, another emotion hidden in his eyes.
"I- I'm so- so- s- sorry." Abigail garbles out through her tears, adrenaline and fear still pumping through her veins, making it hard for her to form any coherent thoughts or words.
"Shhh Astin. It's okay. Niklaus is fine. Now, what are you doing out here? Hmm?" Elijah soothes again, shifting his mate ever so slightly to cup his mate's face between his hands, tilting her face up to look at him.
"Attack- attack on our mansion." Abigail sniffs slightly. "Asen and Mikol sent me to find you guys."
Elijah's eyes harden immediately, glinting black under the moon's light and shadows.
"Kol." Elijah slightly jerks his head towards the direction of the Drakov mansion.
"K- Kol?" Abigail questions, having not realized Kol was present either.
"Don't worry, angel. I'll be back. Go with my brothers, you'll be safe." Kol smiles, his smile entirely too much teeth, much like a shark, before he's a blur in the pitch dark of night, leaving nothing but a brush of wind.
"Now, let us get you to our mansion, Elskan." Elijah picks his mate up bridal style and with a brush of wind, the trio disappears.
"Were you hurt, Abigail?" Elijah asks gently, once back at the Mikaelson mansion, ever so carefully unlocking his mate's death grip from his shirt and settling her on a bed.
"Please- don't- don't leave." Abigail asks softly, reaching out for the second oldest Original, not quite willing to let her rescuer leave her grasp.
"Shhh, it's okay. I apologize, Elskan. I won't. You are safe." Elijah soothes again, inner animal rumbling again for his mate, settling himself back on the bed and allowing Abigail to hold onto him, crumpling his shirt.
Relaxing only a little, Abigail peers around the room, taking in the modern furniture, yet cozy looking reading chair and several book cases that lined the wall.
"Is this your room?" Abigail asks, getting a returning nod from Elijah.
"Well it looks like I'm not needed here. Elijah you can handle this." Niklaus says, a slight edge to his voice Abigail couldn't quite decipher.
Niklaus stood at the doorway to his brother's bedroom, still covered in blood, his shirt torn in several places, perhaps where he had struggled with the rogue vampire, additionally a small hole where Abigail had also hit him with the tree branch.
"Thank you." Abigail offers, tone quiet and small; he after all, was the one that really saved her, not Elijah.
"All part of the agreement." Niklaus says gruffly, his gaze hardening as he turns, flashing out of the room.
Abigail felt several feelings settle within her, confused on the sudden change in his demeanor. Was she really just an agreement to him, nothing else? She had honestly thought she had gotten behind his harder exterior.
"Pay no heed to Niklaus, Astin. Let's get you settled. You must be exhausted from this night's excitement." Elijah says, pulling Abigail out of her confused thoughts and emotions.
Exhaustion comes over her like a tidal wave, finally curling close to Elijah's side, his comforting scent and touch soothing her as darkness finally claims her.
So... It's been a while!
Also, I apologize if any of you have been getting notifications on The Alpha Wolves. I am NOT updating. I am simply correcting grammar on it & maybe adding a little more descriptions here & there to it to make it flow better. It does look better! So, I mean, if you want to re-read it, it is loads better in that department!
